Got the cracked conch and fries and a 3pc of conch fritters with a friend. The cracked conch (pieces of fried conch) was a huge portion (as pictured) for $14 which I thought was a great deal! Everything was fried fresh and came out HOT. I thought the conch fritters were good and super fresh but I could not taste any chunks of conch at all.....it was pretty much just all dough. The flavor was great but the contents of the conch fritter wasn't there. These were the only conch fritters we tried since we were only there for the day on a cruise excursion. That being said, I actually enjoyed them even though I am not a fan of crab cakes, lobster, or most fish. They werent overly fishy at all and had good flavor. The spicy sauce was good, too. I really enjoyed my saurkraut dog (backup just in case i didn't like the conch). As far as the restraunt itself, they accept cash only and don't have a bathroom. You can sit at a front counter or an outdoor patio area. Not in the best of shape, but it does the job. The lady who waited on us was probably the only unfriendly face we saw while in Key West. Trying a few places while in the Keys, decided on this place as wanted seafood and be by the water. View is very nice as the boats were coming in front their day of fishing. Conch fritters were the worst I've had in the keys. One big hush puppy, no conch to be found. Fried fish was good with a taste batter. Shrimp were small with same batter. Service is really bad. Not only the people were rude and in a rush, but they clearly lacked knowledge as to what ingredients they use to prepare their food (they have no idea). I asked if the veggie burger was vegan, and they said it was. Upon receiving my order I noticed the bun was a bit suspicious and went back to ask about the ingredients of the bun and the server took a really rude attitude and said 'I don't know. It probably has some egg in it" and turn his back on me. Basically he doesn't know what ingredients are in the food they cook/use. The first time we came there was nowhere to sit. Since we didn't want to eat standing, we just stopped by again on our way back up Duval St. First off all, the place is cash only, which can be a pain in the neck. Prices were ok given what they sell - $16 for a lobster roll, $14 for 12 piece conch fritters. Lobster roll was bigger than expected, loaded with lobster meat. The reviews praise that it's not big on mayo - except mine had no mayo at all. Or at least the amount was so minuscule I didn't notice. Bread was buttered and toasted, but overall the roll felt pretty dry. The conch fritters were tasty, but again on the dry side (came with 2 dipping sauces) and you couldn't really detect any actual conch pieces. We were dropped off around this area when we were on a cruise and This was conveniently located by our dropoff point. Great conch fritters for a great price!! I love the sauces they have, although I think the pink sauce has siracha in it so it's really spicy! The white sauce is delicious and pairs perfectly with the conch fritters. This location is centrally located along shops, so it's a great location. It's also really quick service, I believe it took us 15 mins or less to get our food after ordering. Very rarely have I experienced such eye-poppingly rude service that I am almost driven to acts of extreme [redacted]. That was almost the case at The Conch Shack. I was in Key West. I was on Duval. I needed (needed) to have conch. As others have pointed out, there's no shortage of the seaballs anywhere on the Key. The only question is, 'where should I nab a bite of these tender morsels?'. Well, it didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that you go for the spot with conch in the name. That was as easy as the experience got. I got to the shack and stood in line. The blond-haired owner waited on the people in front of me (natch). Then, after they were served, he went to the other side of the shack and waited on someone else. Huh? Then, after those people were waited on and he started his way back to me, he noticed some other people *approaching* the shack, turned and waited on them. At this point, I should have left. That's my fault. Why would I wait around to give money to someone who was, obviously, not interested in having me as a customer. For that reason, I'm giving them a 2 and not a 1. I am taking some ownership for not leaving (and for not cussing him out before leaving). But, if I had left, I would have missed out on his stellar customer service (I received a "What do you want?" The others received friendly banter and smiles. Hmm...) and him smoking outside the shack, shooting the breeze AND THEN RETURNING INSIDE TO HANDLE FOOD. Thankfully, for me, he didn't prepare my order (small miracles) but his assistant was almost as dismissive (eye contact. Hi. It helps). She put my order on the counter and just walked away (no, 'Here's your food. Thanks.' Nothing). Additionally, she went back and forth between handling money and prepping food. Yep, you guessed it. She wore the same gloves throughout the transaction. Had she not just been holding my fry basket, I would have left. As it was, the fritters (prepared in front of me) tasted dry (how?) and a little stale (I'm guessing the oil was old). I felt as though I was eating day-old hush puppies from Long John Silver's rather than a Key West staple. What's really too bad about the situation is that I ordered a 6-piece. Let this be a lesson, boys & girls: when in doubt of what you're ordering, get a sample size. The only upside to this story is that my pina colada was boozy, icy and delicious... and I could walk the streets whilst sipping it. But, if a pina colada that could be ordered at any one of a number of shops on Duval was a takeaway from my experience at TCS... figure that one out. read more

Conch fritters had too much "filler" for my taste. I still think the best fritters I've had are at the boathouse. But the conch shack lobster roll is heaven slapped between two perfectly buttered pieces of toast. The lobster is fresh and well seasoned it needs nothing added to it by the customer.
