The ambience has a nice rustic feel to it. The food and service was pretty decent. I ordered the Beef & Egg which was braised short ribs, poached egg, hash brown patty, bordelaise, chive, served with peppered greens. The short ribs was high quality but didn't have enough seasoning on it and the hash browns were a tad bit too crispy. Despite that, everything was solid. A great Sunday brunch place! We had reservations and got an outdoor table, which was nice because it looked loud and busy inside. It wasn't shaded but it was pretty quiet and private. The server was really nice and helped with recommendations. We tried the lavender lattes and they were delicious. The pork belly skillet was good but only came with 2 pork belly strips so it was a pretty small portion. The copper Benedict was really good and a step up from basic Benedict's. We split the two dishes and they were very similar so would recommend trying another dish for more variety. The only downside was there weren't sweet brunch dishes which I normally enjoy, but overall was a great place! There was also plenty of street parking and a parking lot right out front. read more

I was looking for a special birthday cake for our friend's 101st celebration and found photos of the Copper Hen's cakes. I ordered a carrot cake with the birthday cake design. When I opened the cake box, the most beautiful cake I have ever seen was inside. Everyone at the party raved about it and wanted to know where I got it. It also tasted great, fresh and moist. I also ordered a dozen carrot cake cupcakes for back-up, and the guests loved those, too. This will be my go-to cake bakery forever! read more

A friend and I went to Copper Hen for brunch over the weekend and were quite impressed. With a reservation we had a 10 minute wait and our waiter was phenomenal. I ordered the copper hen bloody and was quite impressed with not only the drink but the accoutrements that came alongside it. I also ordered the biscuits and gravy which were delicious and a large portion. The interior was well lit with a variety of sizes of tables. The bar had lots of seating as well and didn't have a wait which is nice to know if you want a drink while you wait. Oh no! When I lived in Minneapolis this was always a go to for out of town guests for brunch. We went on July 6th and it just fell completely flat. I ordered the frittata and they told me the wrong thing, what I got was awful, chewy and not what I would ever had picked. Despite admitting his mistake the server also did nothing to fix it when I said I didn't like it. In addition the potatoes were dried up and shriveled. A few weeks ago my friends and I were going to a show at the children's theater that is a short 5 min walk to the chopper hen so we decided to check it out. I arrived first in our group and was seated promptly. The decor is rustic and had a great ambiance. It didn't look super busy, as only a few other tables were occupied. When more friends arrived we ordered a round of drinks. We received those promptly. When the last of our friends arrived it took her a while to get someone to stop and order. At that point, I wish I would have known how long it would have taken to order food and also have it served. The table behind us was seated in the restaurant after us and were able to order food before us. Once we placed our food order in, it took a VERY long time and our table ordered 3 salads and a sandwich. We did have to ask if the food was coming shortly cause we did have to get to our show. Shortly after we asked our food was brought out. The salad looked very different then I would have thought. The lettuce seemed like it was chopped up in a blender and didn't have much Caesar dressing. The smoked salmon was tasty. I'm glad that I added the salmon to the salad or it would have been very bland. I'm not sure if I will rush back to this place due to the lack of apology for how long it took. We made reservations prior to coming here and I'm glad we did. We were looking for somewhere for lunch/brunch on a Saturday around 12:30. This was a great place for this. The menu had a variety of brunch foods and also a few non brunch burgers and chicken sandwich. This restaurant is located in Eat Street area and in the winter, parking is even harder to find. Allow extra time for this. I would also suggest wearing a sweater to wear in the restaurant, because it is super chilly! They have exposed high ceilings beams and it's also very loud in here. This made it somewhat difficult to hold a conversation. Drinks: the cocktail menu was fun, but I was surprised that there were common brands of spirits on the menu due to how trendy this place looks. We ordered the Chai Harder cocktail and the brunch Lumberjack breakfast off the special menu. They tasted similar. I liked the warmth of the LB since you could have with warm or cold cider and I enjoyed the bubbles in the Chai. I also got a lavender latte to warm up. Food: I saw reviews on a turkey burger and I was excited... but when we got here... no turkey burger. I was somewhat sad until I tried the hot honey chicken sandwich!!! This came out warm and the bun with the crispy chicken thigh and the pickles... ummm foodgasm! I dunno if others that had this didn't have the same chef or the kitchen was having an off night, but I would recommend this to everyone!!! The avocado toast wasn't that special. The house carrot "pickles" were a nice surprise, but the rest wasn't special. (So many raw onions in the avocado mash!) The salmon we added was a tad fishy and didn't add to the toast. It would have been nice to get a warm/ fresh piece of salmon made to order. An egg over easy would be better than the scrambled eggs to add more to this dish. Overall, I would come back for the chicken sandwich and maybe to try a cupcake in the entrance. Went tonight for date night. Service was fantastic from the hostess to our server. I had the beet salad as my starter and it was enough beets to wrap up 2022. Three kinds with a blue cheese cream in between. For the entree I picked the walleye which was a great seasoned and pan seared fish with no breading. Great and refreshing. We split the cookie skillet for dessert and I have to think it was way bette than the other choice of a cupcake with the warm skillet and ice cream on top but willing to try the cupcakes to see if my mind could be changed. Was in town visiting a friend this past weekend and decided to try this place. I want to give it more stars with how cute the place was and how nice the staff was, but the food just lacks any type of flavor. I had the spicy chicken sandwich which had fried chicken thigh, sweet & spicy honey, dill aioli, and house-made dill pickles, which you would expect a bit of a kick and some dill taste but it just wasn't there and the sandwich was good but wasn't anything special without flavor. My friend had the Biscuit and Gravy and she said it was fine no flavor and the Biscuits were super dry. I feel like this place can be a staple in Minneapolis but the food does need to improve. Came here on a Friday night with some friends for dinner. Unfortunately their dinner menu is pretty limited and from the reviews maybe coming during their brunch hours would be better. I'm not sure why I thought they had all day brunch but they do not. I wanted to try the braised short ribs but they didn't have it that day. The service and the presentation of the food was great. Our server was very friendly but she did seem a little overwhelmed. The quality seems to be really good too, however the food itself lacked some seasoning and flavors for me. My friends felt the same way about their dishes. One of my friend got the chicken pot pie and she barely touched it. My partner for the walleye and felt like it lacked some seasoning too but overall ok. I got the streak and it was a bit chewy with definitely not enough seasoning or much flavor in the garlic aïoli to add some taste. I did like my drink though- I got the nutty Irishman. I also liked the finger potato's that came with the streak, usually it's pepper fries that comes with it but because their fryer was down they made these in the oven, which I actually really enjoyed and preferred. Overall for the lack of seasoning and flavor, it felt overpriced. As for parking, basically just street parking but thankfully it's not metered (at least for now). Wanted to love it, but for $16.50 + surcharge + tip, I didn't think it was worth it. I wish I had gone with my second choice, the brunch burger. There's only (free) street parking, so be prepared for that. I managed to find a spot right out front. Make a reservation, otherwise you will wait, and there is nowhere to stand. Our 2nd course choices were mac n cheese, chicken pot pie, French dip sandwich, and egg plant Parmigiana - all were generous portions and tastes were wonderful. We finished with skillet cookies with ice cream. Every dish was well prepared with amazing tastes. Spices and herbs used were spot on. Service was friendly and attentive, atmosphere was perfect for a celebration night out. Parking uptown is a challenge, copper hen has off street parking in a small lot across the street. As many times as I've been here I have yet to be disappointed. Made last minute birthday brunch reservations for my friend, and was delighted they were able to fit us in! I got the pork belly skillet, and it was yuuuumy. Would have appreciated a bit more of a sauce on the potatoes - but I am a saucy kind of person. The pork belly was done well, though I do like it a little more crisp and the fat rendered just a wee bit more. Service was attentive and flexible. This spot is such a great brunch stop! They have all made from scratch food and drinks, and you can taste how good that difference is. My group started with the cinnamon roll and swore that it was one not to mess. I got the eggs Benedict gluten-free, and it was amazing! That is a dish that is hard to get gluten-free and they did such at it. We also got the avocado toast with salmon and that portion is huge! Plenty to like about this attractive Eat Street joint. My mom and I came here for brunch on a Saturday; we'd made reservations and I'd recommend doing the same. There was really quite a happy bustle here. There is a very charming, urban loft-y aesthetic with exposed brick and remnants of old windows. There are two bars; I think one is meant as a dining option and the other is more for sidling up and partaking in liquor-y activities. Our food was pretty good but there is brunch food in the area that I've liked better. My Copper Benedict used crispy bacon which dominated the flavor. My mom was satisfied with her veggie omelette but it didn't seem like something she'd order again. We both got nice potatoes and a side of really nice creme fraiche with our orders, and I got freshly-squeezed orange juice which tasted great. Service was very professional, and they seemed to be working hard to keep up with a busy lunch crowd. The brunch menu has some inventive items that seem catered to the urban food culture of this part of the metro. There was a display case by the entrance with some bakery items; if I'd been reminded of those offerings at the end of my meal I might have picked one up. (Maybe I just missed it on the menu.) When we arrived there were only 4 other people that were seated. With us that made 8 people total. The server was also the host and bartender. One other person was helping to bring out items until she had what appeared to be a meeting (I assume maybe a consult for an event). Leaving one person to do all the tasks. It took a bit before we were able to order our drinks. Another group of 8 arrived and were seated and their food orders were taken before ours. By the time we were finally asked for our food orders it was 6pm. We had been ready almost immediately. 40 minutes later I had to ask if there was an ETA for our food as we needed to get to the show. The server said she would check and the food was ready right at that moment. Our group literally had to Hoover in the food and leave. The worst part was that 3 of the 4 meals were salads. Basically we paid for overpriced food that we couldn't even attempt to enjoy. Based on reviews I was so excited. Ambiance was cute. I am not sure if it was because it was dinner vs Brunch, but the food was overall mediocre. My chicken sandwich was tasty but basically had to leave without touching my fries due to the lack of time. I recently visited with friends before attending a show at the Children's Theatre down the road. I had been here before right after 2020 for brunch, but it had been a while. I was excited to try their dinner as I remember enjoying my brunch items. Street parking is the only option as they do not have a lot. The place is small & has a cute aesthetic. We all loved the rustic vibe! Unfortunately, we had kind of a bummer experience overall. When I arrived, there was one other table of 4 besides us. They had a host/drink runner and a bartender/server. During the time we were waiting to order, another table came in and they took their orders first. I am bummed to say we only got one drink order in two hours. We also waited 40-45 minutes for three salads and a chicken sandwich and had to get up and go to the bar to ask for our food. The other table also had to get up to ask to close out. We had 15 minutes to close out, inhaul our food, and walk back over to the Theatre. I got the Hen Caesar Salad & I chose Salmon as additional protein. This came to $27.00 & was the weirdest Caesar. I think mine was missing the dressing. It was a bunch of greens/carrots which seemed to be blended by a blender. It was quite bitter as well. The salmon was smoked and really nice. Overall, communication is key. If we would have been informed about wait times we likely would have not eaten here or been a little more understanding. We were given no explanation/reason. It just became very awkward. It was surprising because as a former server I can't imagine having only 2-3 tables the whole time & barely getting to any of the tables to check in, re-up drinks, and communicate.
