First, I love the pastries you can buy to-go. This review though is for their cooking class. Be aware that you will be seated with a group of 6 and you'll have to work with them to decide who does what tasks, since not everyone will get to try making everything. I attended solo but luckily really liked the group I was assigned to. We wanted everyone to work on things they enjoy and allowed everyone to try some parts of the important tasks (making pasta and pastry dough). Your enjoyment might really depend on what your group is like. You can buy wine and beer to drink while you take the class, and those were reasonably priced I thought! $9 for a glass of wine and I think $8 for beer. The class was chaotic since we were making three courses and things needed to be done at different times, but the chaos felt like how it really is in a kitchen making multi course menus, so that didn't bother me! The assistants were great and helped us stay on track and helped if we were struggling with anything. Lovely store and bakery, which some very high quality pastries and a wonderful coffee selection. Behind the bakery is a store section where you can browse books and high-quality kitchenware. We got a salmon sandwich which was delicious, a croissant, and a vanilla crepe to eat at home later in the day. The crepe cake was amazing and definitely worth trying. I did one of their cake decorating classes about a year ago...Lol that class was a hot mess. I signed up for a buttercream fall leaves decorating class. The teacher thought she was doing a fondant class....so she did this whole fondant demo (which honestly wasn't very good either and I would have been very disappointed in the instruction if the class I had signed up for was a fondant class too) and then I asked, are we going to do any of the piping? And she basically said no and the lady next to me also then chimed in saying that she thought this was a piping class...which it was according to the description on the signup page..and a few other people were like yeah I thought so too! So then she does some piping demos, meanwhile we only have one piping bag per person and no bowls for mixing colors ‍‍‍ Also the cake and frosting tasted terrible. At least it wasn't a baking class. Thankfully they refunded our money, but only as a "store credit", not the original payment method. Then I signed up to take a macaron class, only for that one to get canceled a week before the class was supposed to take place. So I'm still stuck with a credit for a class. read more

We left with 2 whole boxes stuffed with croissants, scones and danishes, and are already making plans to check out the rest of their offerings on our next trip. 1. Cheddar Rosemary Scone: You could tell the skill of the chefs at Bellecour by these aromatic scones that were airy yet solid without crumbling in its entirety as you broke a piece. The sharp cheddar in this scone complemented the piny, herby rosemary that kept us "ooh"-ing at every bite. 2. Everything Croissant: This is our TOP recommendation out of everything we tried. The best croissant in the Midwest now comes generously loaded with the garlicky, savoury and familiar seasoning from everyone's favourite bagel in America. There may have been infinitely many buttery layers to this pastry, and we can still not stop thinking about this combo we never thought we needed. 3. Bread Pudding: Can't decide between the Pain au Chocolat or Almond Croissant? We get it, and so does Bellecour! This scrumptiously moist bread pudding is a blend of their top-selling pastries, with a hard crust of almond flakes and a thick, spiced dulce de leche piped at the top with a generous dusting of icing sugar. 4. Monkey Bread: Akin to the Pecan Pull Apart found across the road at Spoon and Stable, this monkey bread was light and pillowy as you pulled it apart to dunk it into the dollop of subtly sweet and velvety caramel in the middle. 5. Blueberry Lemon Danish: Bellecour comes up with a range of seasonal sweet or savoury danishes, and ours was filled with a tangy jam nested in a golden pastry. Although it was a bit sour for our liking, we thoroughly enjoyed the crumbs on the top of the jam that gave this danish a comforting, pie-like texture. I've been three times, namely for the kouign Aman, almond croissant and an egg and ham croissant. Everything is fresh and perfectly made. Love the beautiful boxes they place the pastries I'm, keeping them from crushing. They make a great idea for a gift because of this! Went to the new Bellecour Bakery at Cooks of Crocus Hill in North Loop during the opening weekend and it was similar to the pop-ups they did once Bellecour in Wayzata closed. The pastries are amazing and the crepe cake, while a little pricey ($8 per slice), is really something unique and special, in a good way. Great coffee and they do a nice job with COVID restrictions and spacing people out inside while you wait in line. It's also fun watching the pastry chefs prepare the delectable items through the window including the layering of the crepe cake which sits for two days before it's cut. We got there just before 10 AM on Sunday and the line took about 10-15 minutes and by the time we grabbed a cute cafe table on the sidewalk outside, the line was down the block - point being, don't wait too long to get there as it's going to be a popular place in the North Loop. For anyone who lives or frequents the North Loop, they know there's free meter parking on 1st during the weekends and as long as the weather holds up, try to grab a little bistro table to sit and enjoy the fall during a nice weekend morning. Super glad they opened this location right across the street from Spoon and Stable as it will be a go to bakery spot for those of us in the neighborhood and a destination for those who don't live downtown. read more

Anytime we're both in the same location we have to become one. Bellecour's croissants are splendid and are offered at a very reasonable price for the quality ($4.50). Crusty exterior with a soft layered interior. The ham and cheese croissant's first bite was soooooo gooooood. However, the 2nd and 3rd bite it felt too rich. It had two cheeses: a melted cheese, and then a cheese-like spread (maybe some sort of cream cheese). The spread should be omitted or lightly applied so that the sandwich is less overpowering. Otherwise it was fantastic (after I scraped some of that cheese off). read more

The team at Bellecour MADE my trip to Minneapolis. They had the best coffee from anywhere I could find in my 2.5 week trip: THANK YOU! My favorite coffee to get was the Cafe con Miel, which was perfect balance of the coffee and honey. I ended up coming multiple days and trying as well a variety of pastries: the cardamom bun, the bread pudding, and the Kouign Amann. The cardamom bun was perfectly seasoned: the dough was perfectly light and fluffy. The Kouign Amann had beautiful layers and what you would expect of the signature treat: caramelized outsides and beautiful layers. And the bread pudding was super tasty as well: it had a delightful caramel sauce on top and chocolate within. I wish I can make Bellecour my new go to, however, I live out of state. Will definitely be back next time I return. read more

This location popped up on yelp and I couldn't help but wonder why I had never heard of it before. We ended up venturing out around 1 PM on a Wednesday. To my surprise when we arrived it was actually a store front, I was a little confused at first. Once inside we saw that there was a small bakery counter with cold goods, as well as drinks. On the way to the counter you're going to see different tables with items to buy, along with pastries. This is kind of like their display table for what you can order at the bakery counter. I ended up going with a monkey bread, shortbread cookies, and a croissant. Prices seem to be in line with everywhere else in the area. There's also plenty of seating outside, as well as some seating inside for once it gets colder. My mom really loved the shortbread cookies, my monkey bread would've been great if it didn't have reasons... That's honestly just a personal preference because I hate raisins but if you love them you'll probably like it lol. We did not take advantage of the store items, but if you are looking for a unique kitchen item I have a recommend checking this out and grabbing a snack while you're there. read more

So pleased to have happened upon this addition to Cooks' space. Clearly others were well aware of the amazing treasures inside as the line was about 10 deep on a Sunday at 11AM, but it went extremely quickly (maybe 5 minutes). The staff was delightful and they clearly place an emphasis on having positive connections with customers and not just slinging lattes and croissants. Don't have any pictures because everything was gobbled up. Let's start with the breakfast croissant. The plain croissant is perfect as the carrier for all the goodness that goes into it. The egg is sunny side up and runny which is perfect cos as you bite into it the yolk oozes and mixes with all the other ingredients. The chorizo ? Sausage patty is the star IMHO. So flavorful! This is a great sandwich even if it is a tad pricey at $15 plus service tax. The pastries are all delicious too. The kouign aman is scrumptious - crunchy and perfectly coated with cinnamon sugar.
