But than we got in sat down and began to order with Brianna which went well, we had the ribs and chicken, chicken was a little bland but the ribs were definitely good!! My husband loves the ribs at the original Cockeysville location, so when another Corner Stable restaurant opened close to our house, he was ecstatic. Once I tried their food, I was thrilled as well! Since they opened I've been back at least a half-dozen times. Everything I have eaten has been terrific, from the cheddar cheese nugget appetizer to the barbecue salmon dinner. (I don't eat red meat, so I haven't tried the ribs.) The crab cakes are full of huge pieces of lump crab meat, with just enough filler to hold them together. Their sauces are outstanding: original barbecue, Texas barbecue (spicy and smoky), Stable Sauce (creamy horseradish), Boom-Boom (just spicy enough!) - we usually ask for sides of one or more of these. They're all great with fries. :) The salad dressings are great too; I'm working on trying them all. And every salad I've had has been good. Not to say they're amazingly spectacular, but the portion sizes are appropriate, the tomatoes are ripe, and the greens are fresh and clean - that's more than I can say for salads at many other places. I usually order the salmon dinner or fish and chips. Both are great! The salmon is always cooked perfectly. In the fish and chips, the fish pieces are large; overall, it's more than I can eat in one sitting, so I take home the leftovers and enjoy them the next day. My favorite side dish is the macaroni and cheese. It's thick and creamy, just the way I like it. The fries are a bit inconsistent: Sometimes they're obviously cooked longer, and there can be a wide range of crispiness. They always taste great, though, whether dipped in ketchup, malt vinegar, or one of the various sauces. The staff is spectacular! Everyone has been friendly and helpful. I usually take my son with me (now 4 months old), and they've gone out of their way to be accommodating and make sure we have a safe and secure place for him to sit. Even on busy nights, they've been attentive and prompt. The Columbia Corner Stable has become one of my favorite restaurants. I'm glad we live so close! read more

I want to start out by saying that usually when I dine here, we have a better time than we did last night. However, last night was one of the worst experiences I have had dinning out in a long time. To start off, for being a family resturaunt, they are NOT kid friendly at all. The high chairs have no straps on them to keep the child secure, there is no changing station in either bathroom, and the portions and prices for the kids menus are crazy. What child needs a half rack of ribs for $10.00? The service was lacking, it took forever to get our food, and once it did come out the food was cold. We went for our monthly "Hot Mammas" dinner to the Corner Stable in Columbia. It was my first visit. I consulted Yelp first (of course) and read about the crab cakes and ribs. I was torn which to choose, but it being Monday, I went with the rib special at the advice of our fabulous server Dawn. They were great! I don't often order ribs out because I find many restaurants overcook or use cheap sauce. The Corner Stable ribs were meaty and sauced just right. Food is mediocre at best. If you are a quantity over quality person and are interested in weighing 300 pounds, this might be the place for you. The food is over priced, and you will get large quantities of poor quality food. We had the "bloomin' onion" which was mostly raw and uncut. Crab soup was a basic can of vegetable soup with shredded crab. Fried shrimp tasted frozen. Rib meat was low quality rendered edible by being drenched in sweet sauce. We really wanted to try the crab cakes, but couldn't fathom eating a half pound of crab. Thankfully, this place doesn't smell like the same wet rag that Michael's smelled like. There is nothing great about this place at all. Did not have the table ready when we arrived for our reservation, the food is bland across the board, the service was slow on nearly every front, and in short not a good place for a date. Good examples for the average experience was the signature plate of the "ribs" was not well cooked, looks nothing like the pictures on the menu, and is far from the "best ribs". Business is good as it's the new hot restaurant on that side of Columbia, taking over the former Michael's Pub location. The space is nice, sleek and attractive with attention to detail - the bar area is comfortable with some big screens. Beer selection is thoughtful, with an emphasis on local craft offerings. Our service was good, especially since it was quite crowded. Prices are mostly reasonable. Crab ball appetizers are really tasty and full of lump meat, but there are only 4 small balls for the $12 price tag. Not a good value at all, pay a few more dollars and get the crab cake platter or sandwich. Based off of our experience, crab cakes are probably the way to go as they have little filler and are delicious. The signature dish at the Corner Stable is the ribs. Unfortunately, other than the sauce and them being moist, I can't think of a reason to recommend them. They looked to be pre-cooked and warmed over ever so slightly on a grill, with some very faint grill marks on them. They might have improved if they where on the grill more, but these were pretty lame. I remember years ago eating ribs numerous times at their other location, and while they were inconsistent in quality, they were always better than this showing. Big thumbs down - and an embarrassing display for a "rib" joint. Sandwiches ordered at the table were pretty good, but uneventful. Sides at the table included over baked, baked potatoes, baked beans that tasted like canned campbell's with a drop of BBQ sauce, cole slaw that was bitter, but better than the prepared junk that comes out of a carton, and french fries that were quite tasty. During our dinner conversation we kept asking ourselves why we didn't go to Kloby's Smokehouse, as it was their Crab Cake slider night (Fri.) which are just as tasty as the Corner Stable's and a much better value. The other comparable offerings are better there, too. We tried out the new place, but don't think we'll be back anytime soon. Better food is easily found. read more

This place needs to stop calling its ribs "Baltimore's best." I was a fool to believe that too! Oh my god, you could not call those things ribs! They were drenched in a sickly sticky sweet sauce and the ribs themselves were either boiled or baked that had absolutely no flavor, and frankly if someone told me it was chicken under that blanket of red mess, I would've believed it. What a disappointment. I remembered the ribs at the Cockeysville location to be tender and delicious. I ordered the crab cake and rib platter for $25.00. The ribs were dry and the crab cake was flavorless. They try to make you think it is full of lump meat by strategically placing a few pieces of lump meat on top. The potato skins are more like scalloped potatoes. Don't expect crispy potato skins like most restaurants serve. The french fries were limp and bland. They looked and tasted like they were sitting under a heat lamp for 30 minutes. The service was slow. read more

Went here today for lunch and was seated very quickly and had great service throughout my meal. The menu has many options and the lunch specials area a really good deal. I decided to go with the half rack of baby back ribs and fries for $10.99 and I was very pleased with my meal. The meat on the ribs fell off completely and had a great flavor. We went to this place for lunch today. I can tell you that the pictures on the menu look great! The actual food was probably the worst food I have ever eaten. We both ordered the most expensive item on the menu, Crab Cake and Fried Shrimp, $27.00 each. I would gladly pay that much if it was good but it wasn't!! Plus, the waitress was so unfriendly! Happy Hour potato skins tasted like the potatoes spent the day in the warmer. Overcooked is an understatement. Jerk chicken bites were pretty good. Menu seems to be hit or miss. We ordered our meal and after 45 mins we asked about it. The person who took our order did not put it I the system. After asking about it the food came out right away but the ribs, fries and the Mac and cheese came out cold. The bar tender tried to smooth things over for us. He pretty much gave us our dinner for nothing. He made a great attempt and gave us a gift card to return. However I will not return. first impression is a lasting impression. read more

While we had great service the food was just OK. We were excited but in the end felt let down. Looking at the reviews and overall menu we were expecting the food to be better than it was. The crab cake, although good size and a good looking crab cake, was void of any real flavor. My friend ordered the fried chicken. Again, although it looked great it was still lacking. It was not fresh from the deep fryer as expected. The chicken itself was barely warm. So who knows when it was actually prepared and how long it sat there before we ordered it. Went here last night to try something new. Had some trouble with the service, Kitchen lost our ticket, 45-60mins after we order they figured out the problem. Manager gave us some crab soup(meh) to hold us over. Food came out the BBQ'd beef on cibatta bread was good, my burger Bacon and Blue was over done beyond belief. (I ordered it Med-Rare) Manager also comp'd all of our food, Only paid for drinks. While I commend the Manager for doing his best to fix a screw up this is not what a first time customer wants to have happen to keep them coming back. Had a bizarre experience. We thought the place closed at 10 (Google Maps still says 11), so we made a reservation for 8. Turns out they close at 9, and the waitress seemed harried/in a rush all night. She didn't warn us that the bar and kitchen would be closing right at 9, so I didn't get to order a second drink (after trying to flag her down for about 10 minutes first). Food was fine, but nothing special. Weirdest part was when we tried to leave and found they'd already locked the front door. We were NOT the only people left in the restaurant - who locks the doors when there are still customers inside?? They sent us out through the kitchen and seemed irritated that we didn't already know. I understand being frustrated when customers come in just before closing, but if everything shuts down so early, they shouldn't have taken our reservation to begin with. The 2 stars is solely for the crab cakes! My family and I had reservations for Corner Stable this past Friday and were more than disappointed with the service. Not just with our waitress but the waitress helping tables in our area. The waitress serving tables nearby was clearly under the influence of drugs with her eyes barely open and slurred speech to the customers around us. The ultimate disbelief moment was when she was trying to walk with a beer in each hand that started to spill. What seems like the right thing to do?...sip it down for the customer then serve it to them! This place should have their cameras looked at by management, then roll out an extensive service training to their staff and hire more people that are pleasant to be working. read more

Came for dinner with another couple. I read reviews first and want to give an establishment a try if it's a 3 star rating especially since other people gave higher ratings. My meal was just ok. I ordered a specialty drink from the 'winter type menu' it was a minty type martini with chocolate sauce. Pretty good if you like mint chocolate. Our appetizer was crab tots: tater tots with crab dip. Very runny, hardy any crab, but I was starving and ate several. My crab cake dinner came with two sides. The crab cake was a very nice size but dry, veggie medley was broccoli, carrots and sugar snap peas with no butter or seasoning. The only thing that was great was mashed potatoes with brown gravy. Fiancé ordered a FULL rack of ribs with two sides. The ribs were skinny and like previous reviewers said, they came out in a fry basket. Had a ton of sauce which he was not pleased about. Atmosphere is clean, waitress was nice. We probably would not come back. May try bar side but that would be it. Tried giving at least a half star but it does t allow so Corner Stable you at least get 2 1/2 read more

I swear piss poor customer service can really bring a place down. Decided to order Carr-Out for a buddy who was recovering from a hospital visit. Walk in to two people at the front, ignored. Go to the carry-out desk, two more people and instead of the "Hi", "Welcome", etc, ignored again and one walks off. Wow, really... Finally one of the women from the front comes to pull my order. No, thanks for waiting, thanks for coming, thank you for helping to pay my wages because customers keep us in business. She did offer napkins and forks...Gee I ordered carry-out, nope, don't want to have clean fingers and hands. Just want to scoop my mac & cheese with a straw I found in my car. Paid my bill and off she walks. Again, no thanks or come again. Guess talking to her peer was more important. Next time I'll just drive to G&M. read more

Atmosphere: it was ok. Hot food (NOT) It was a humid evening so the A/C was a must but the fans going full blast made the fries inedible by the time we were halfway done because they were cold. Note: I was a server for many years so I do understand the A/C issue, however, asked several times after we were seated to turn down the fans because many of the people around us were also quite chilled. FOOD: The Sliders: Loved the BBQ, the crab cake was 'eh'. My daughter had the burgers and they looked good. Son in law had the cheese steak and he raved about the softness of the bun as well as the deliciousness of the meat & cheese inside. SERVICE: was excellent. First time diners. Went because we were both craving a crab cake and heard theirs were good. We were seated immediately at a small booth - which we requested. Server was friendly and accommodating. Atmosphere was nice. Food was served with very little wait time. Crab cake sandwich was bountiful with no filler at all. We looked up places to eat that may be different in Columbia and wanted American food. We were charged 2$ for a few crumbles of cheese for the salad. My lava cake was frozen with freezer burned ice cream. My fiancé stated that the ribs were over cooked. The restaurant was clean and bar is nice and has neighborhood feel. I wish that I could give a review but I really can't. My girls took me there today for a Mother's Day treat. They made reservations, had money to pay and we're excited. We arrived a few minutes before our 6 pm reservation and were promptly seated. 20 minutes later we left after never being serviced, given drinks or acknowledged at all by anyone. Ironically when we left the hostess who seated us, 20 minutes prior, advised us to have a great night. When I said "we never ate" she just shrugged her shoulders. Second time: massive wait for our food, cold appetizers hit the table the same time as our cold entrees, and the entire back bar area was being served by a rather aloof bartender who spent most of the 2.5 hours we were there back in the kitchen area doing God knows what. read more

My husband and I went here to watch the Giants game this past Sunday. Tried to go, at least. We ended up having to leave without being seated. Here's why: We arrived right around 1pm as the Sunday games were beginning. The front area of the restaurant was relatively busy, with three TVs on one wall (within eyesight of each other) tuned to the local game, and no TVs in the main room were tuned to our game. There were two TVs in the back, where no people were sitting, though, so we asked if one of those TVs could be changed to the Giants game. The hostess went back to ask the manager if the channel could be changed, but she came back minutes later to let us know that the manager had confirmed that the channels on all the TVs had been set and could not be changed. So we had to turn around and take our business elsewhere, so that the manager of the Corner Stable could keep the same channel playing to a bunch of empty chairs. A shame. read more

Just walked out. My husband and I have been disappointed several times in the last months eating here. It was once one of our go to places. But it's certainly not anymore and today I walked out without eating. Thought I'd grab a crabcake sandwich for lunch and arrived after the lunch crowd around 230. After waiting about five minutes and being seen by several waitstaff and a bartender, finally waitress approached me to seat me but then the phone rang and she went to answer it. When she came back to see me she took me to a dirty table which needed to be cleaned and rather than get a cleaning rag she asked the bartender for a paper napkin to wipe the table after she removed the dirty dishes. Over the years my in-laws would pick up super yummy ribs and crab cakes from here. Tonight, I had the pleasure of visiting the restaurant on the way back from a particularly painful Os game (they lost to the Yankees...boo). The blackened shrimp Caribbean salad was just the ticket to take away my baseball blues. The shrimp was fresh and prepared with lots of old bay: delicious! The rest of the salad was also yummy with tons of fresh blueberries. Place is extremely kid friendly and the staff was so helpful and sweet. The crab cakes and ribs are amazing. The fries are good too, but they get cold amazingly fast. I recommend that you eat the fries right away, then move on to the other food. The prices are in line with what you expect from a crab cake and rib place. However I recommend that you try it on Mondays for ribs or Wednesdays for crab cakes because they have a special deal. This place has a bar in the restaraunt as well as a completely seperate bar next door with lots of TVs. The draft beer selection is great too. read more

The Corner stable was a big disappointment. We first began our order with Crab Tots (tater tots with crab dip on them) they came out with a huge plate of tots with a blob of just crab dip sauce. There was hardly and crab on it and it was really runny. Then my girlfriend ordered the crab cake and I ordered a full rack of ribs. The crab cake was big and looked great but was really dry. My "full-rack" of ribs came in a French fry basket with the two sides taking up the majority of the basket. This is their full-rack? It was small and disappointing. It was engulfed in sauce mostly which wasn't even spicy like I was told. This place is way too overpriced for not even decent BBQ. I do not recommend the corner stable. For an $80 tab including tip your probably better off getting at least somewhat okay BBQ at Famous Dave's. read more
