My wonderful generous tender savory jumbo-lump crab cake and piping hot fries, voguing for the camera :-)
    Rich S.

I havent reviewed here in a couple of years, but like clockwork, whenever my brother and his wife come to town, we always make it to Corner Stable (open since 2011) in the Kings Contrivance Village Center in Columbia for their Wednesday lunch special: a huge half-pound jumbo-lump crab cake for $21 instead of $28! (Also available at their original 1972 location up in Cockeysville.) You turn into the Center just east of Eden Brook or just south of Guilford, from Exit 15 of MD32. There's around 200 parking spaces in the south lot just across the driving-lane from the restaurant, including several spaces reserved for Corner Stable patrons, and even more spaces in the north side of the Center. The main restaurant entrance is on the southeast corner of the west-most building, and I think there's also a direct entrance to the bar area around the northwest from there. The place can get pretty busy around noon, but we've never waited more than 5min. We're always welcomed at the reception counter as we walk in, and if you have to wait a few minutes there's some seating to your left, where you can peruse the posted all-day specials, which you can also find on their webpages from a menu link at the bottom of most pages (but I always have to hunt for :-). Aug 2025: - Mon: Ribs & FF, $17 - Tue: Fried chicken breasts & FF $15.49, or Half-pound burger & FF, $8 -- Wed: Their glorious half-pound jumbo-lump crab cakes & FF, $21 -- - Thu: Seven fried jumbo shrimp & FF & Slaw, $15 The specials are currently the same here in Columbia as they are at their Cockeysville location, but it seems to me that sometimes they don't match at both places. And i think there are still some bar-only specials in the cozy homey bar around the back where they used to have that free poker tournament. We usually get a table or booth near the windows along the left. The wait-staff is always prompt, and they're so friendly that they (usually) laugh at my kinda-dumb jokes! We always order the Wednesday special, broiled. The great half-pound crab cake is a work of art, studded with jumbo lump crab all over and throughout, perfectly moist and tender, great savory flavor, and not too much filler. The fries are fresh and piping hot. It's a filling meal and a sweetly satisfying crab cake. We like all the food we've ever had here, and the always-friendly staff :-). But there's a special place in our hearts for their generous delicious crab cakes :-) Yum!

Blackened Mahi Mahi, broccoli, wild rice

I visited this venue last week for a work dinner. This place was giving me glam honkey tonk vibes, which was odd. Our fairly large group was spread over 3 tables that seated 8 each. The waitress was a marvel and managed our orders like a champ. I was impressed with the beer offerings, though not happy the Heavy Seas Loose Cannon barrel had just kicked. I comforted myself with a Victory Berry Monkey. I was also quite impressed with the overall menu which had a ton of options and variety. Seemed like there was something for everyone (except vegans - there was a vegan in my group and she went with french fries and broccoli). The tables had ordered a variety of appetizers, including a crab pretzel, wings, and fried pickles. Only the fried pickles looked good to me, and when I ate one, they were INDEED delicious (so I ate a bunch more). For my entree I'd ordered the blackened mahi mahi with a side of broccoli and a side of wild rice. I was pretty excited when my food arrived! Then I dug in...I don't think any seasonings were used on the fish nor broccoli at all. They were SUPER bland. The wild rice was just OK. I ate the fish and rice and left the broccoli. I ate at this venue because it's what my company chose, but I don't foresee myself visiting The Corner Stable myself. I like seasoning, you see.

This casual eatery struggled with flavor and the fried chicken was dry. What the food lacked, our server, Joe (Joseph S.), made up for. Joe was friendly, engaged without being intrusive, and clearly took pride in his work. Given the crab soup was respectable, and the menu had a myriad of other offerings besides the fried chicken, I would recommend trying this Columbia staple... and ask for Joe. Cheer!

Brisket sandwich with Mac n Cheese

Ordered via DoorDash. Food was ok. I cant say anything about the place or the staff, but the food was just ok. The Mac n Cheese was upsetting, as if it came from a box. The brisket was ok and had a bit of flavor. I did like the baked beans and the Ruben was ok. I suggested that they better the beat to bread ratio cause the rye was overwhelming. The shrimp did have some flavor. No napkins or utensils in the bag. They should give us the option on the app.

We ordered take out via Grub Hub tonight and it was great. Order was ready for pick up when promised, food was hot and delicious as always. Salmon, steak and ribs with salad and green beans. Delicious dinner on a cold night.

My son and I came here on a Sunday there was a nice number of people here eating Sunday dinner. I like that they have big screen TVs near the booths playing football games. When we came in we were greeted and seated promptly. Our weather was nice and thorough and answered any questions we had regarding menu items as this was our first time there. My only negative is where we were seated, there were a lot of flies, so we had to keep swapping at them while trying to enjoy our food. For an appetizer, I got the corn nuggets that come with syrup for dipping. They were tasty. For my entree, I ordered the ribs with a honey and spicy sauce with their crab cake which was fulfilling with a nice amount of crab meat and little filler. For my sides I got the Mac and cheese which was not good any at all and the string beans which were garlicky and good in my opinion. My son got the crab cake sandwich which he raved about. I think this restaurant is pretty good and would recommend it to my family and friends.

Hidden Gem ! ! It's difficult to find an establishment who welcomes large parties, pays exceptional attention, resonably priced and pays exceptional attention to detail with each guest. We came here for my sister's birthday party and had an amazing time. I was extremely surprised at the service we received and the food. Everyone enjoyed themselves

Tuesday Burger special night! $8 for a burger with all the fixings AND fries - that's hard to beat in today's economy. We saw this special along with a 15% off our check advertised on their facebook page so we drove over for an impromptu date night! There is no mention of either of these specials inside the restaurant or on their menu, so we asked before we ordered. The only thing that would be better is if they had happy hour for our beers! We obviously ordered a burger and I saw a version of the blooming onion on their apps so obviously had to get that too. I really wanted to try their famous ribs that they advertise, but they unfortunately don't offer half racks for dinner and I did NOT need a full rack to myself before the holidays. So I settled for their rib sandwich instead. The burger was incredible! SO juicy and medium rare (even though they didn't ask, they knew). The fries were on the floppy side, I prefer mine crispy. And the blooming onion fell short to outback expectations but still tasty. My rib sandwich was overall good, but incredibly salty. I'll be back for burger night again!

Yummy falling off the bones ribs.

"My daughter, S A M," Shaw signs back, "playing guitar," as he makes hand motions. "Being able to hear that." "You don't need to. Every spring, I go to the Boston Pops." "Why?" Frank asks disconsolately. "To watch...the feeling...the musicians...to see their joy. It's enough. To see that, to share it." Watching Ava recapture physically not just the performance in her retelling but the appreciation from both musicians and concert-goers alike, Frank starts to rediscover hope, even as he and Ava try to stay alive from the killers hunting them. The appetizers, entrees, and desserts from Eataliano Market & Deli, located at 5325 Phelps Luck Drive in Columbia, Maryland, prompt similarly unexpected overflows of culinary memories and joy. Upon our first visit of what we hope will be many, my wife and I placed the following takeout order: 1 order of Baked Meatballs 2 orders of Garlic Bread 1 ten-inch Empire Pie (I requested no ricotta or extra virgin olive oil) 1 order of Rigatoni Meatballs alla Vodka 1 order of Spaghetti with Homemade Meat Sauce 1 slice of Limoncello Mascarpone Cake 1 slice of Pistachio Cheesecake The garlic bread and pistachio cheesecake alone conjured spectacular reminisces. The pizza is the best we've had in Maryland, although my wife regretted my choice of no ricotta; and we would gladly reorder our pasta dishes if we didn't have many more entrees that we want to try.

Eataliano is tucked right…read moreinto the Phelps Luck neighborhood, not far from Route 108 (Old Annapolis Road) and Columbia Palace Plaza. I had heard there could be a bit of a wait, which isn't surprising since this well-established market and deli draws not only local residents but also people from nearby businesses. I happened to be about 15 minutes away, so I placed my order through their website. By the time I arrived, I must have missed the lunch rush--there was no line, and it took just a couple more minutes for everything to be wrapped, packaged, and ready to go. The market itself is intriguing and packed with all sorts of house-made specialties and popular Italian brands. There were also plenty of brands I had never heard of, giving the place the feel of a little Italian countryside market. I can only dream of traveling to Italy someday, so for now, I'll happily get a little taste of Italy here! Parking: As mentioned, parking is very limited. The street alongside the shop was also undergoing some sort of construction during my visit, so be prepared for some roadside limitations. There is a small, intimate dining area with room for only about four tables, but I loved seeing the white-tablecloth treatment. It added such a warm and welcoming touch to what is otherwise a very busy little establishment. The staff were busy but friendly. With the back-of-house operation appearing to be quite busy and working within tight quarters, it was impressive to see how well everyone seemed to coordinate and make the most of the available space. What We Tried Eataliano Crab Roll -- A specialty my daughter had told me about after seeing it on TikTok, and now I understand why! Generously filled with a tender, tasty blend of lump crab meat and fillers. Definitely shareable--but only with your favorite people! 10" Margherita Pie -- A NY-style thin crust topped with fresh ingredients, including tomato sauce, house-made mozzarella, and whole basil leaves. Simple, fresh, and delicious. French Fries -- Crispy and crunchy, just as ordered. Sometimes you just need a good order of fries! Greek Salad -- A generous portion loaded with fresh ingredients: feta cheese, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, Kalamata olives, carrots, green peppers, and pepperoncini. Fresh, colorful, and plenty to share. Overall, Eataliano is exactly the kind of neighborhood gem I love discovering. Between the market, deli, prepared foods, and cozy little dining area, there's plenty to come back and explore. Definitely worth a visit--and I'm already wondering what I should try next!

I got a fish sandwich: fried flounder, lettuce, tomato, red onion, american cheese and tartar sauce on a kaiser roll. The fish was thin and crispy, the toppings were crisp and fresh, proportions were good. Made fresh to order; it hit the spot. I wanted mozzarella sticks, too, but they didn't have any. There's a salad bar and there was a hot bar, too, which wings, fried chicken, and a couple of asian dishes. You order at the counter and then pay at the gas station attendant counter, so if you want chips and drink or other snacks, you can just get them in the station and pay like normal.
