This was a great afternoon pick me up after a stormy day at the beach! After failing to check the weather app and driving the hour to Siesta Key to only arrive at the beach and watch lightning striking the nearby palms, we decided the day could not be a total bust. Enter The Cottage, a beach bar themed beach bar with tapas, cocktails, and friendly service. A little on the pricey side? Sure. Some parking spots? Yes. Good food? Also yes. Some people at my table ordered (virgin) pina coladas, which I will say were quite good. I had the cocktail with fig vodka, which I did not enjoy as much as I was hoping I would. Everyone enjoyed their food though, and the waiter was very kind enough to give us his recommendations when I asked. He had some solid evidence backing up his choices, too. I went with the tuna tacos per his suggestion, and they were rather good. I also thought that the truffle fries were tasty, too. I would certainly revisit The Cottage on my next visit to Siesta Key for its fun beach vibe and the selection of small plates. read more

Outdoor patio is a great vibe with live music. Siesta seafood scampi was good, just a tad salty. Scallops were very yummy! I didn't take a picture of the short rib bites, but I would reccomend those for an appetizer because they were delicious. read more

Still one of my favorite spots in the village on siesta key. Staff is fantastic. Our server Carly did a great job and was really nice! Drinks were great and the French fries are to die for. Had a late lunch at Cottage in Siesta Key while vacationing in the area. We opted to eat indoors since it was so warm outside but their outdoor area was equally nice and the had it covered and fans going. We sat at a high table in the bar area and opted for a few appetizers to share. Started with two specialty cocktails which were wonderful! Our appetizers were all great- the Crabcake was full of crab and plated well. Short rib bites were packed with flavor and quite big. The lobster maki roll was done nicely as well. The only caveat I would give is the prices are a little on the higher end for food. The maki roll is considered an entree and was $36. Considering that there isn't a ton of lobster to it, seemed a little steep. This would certainly not stop us from returning and there were many other menu options that looked equally good and interesting we would want to try. I just don't think I would get the Maki roll again. While you don't see it on their website, they do have a nice kids menu which is always helpful. We are from out of town and visit once a year. Discovered The Cottage last year and fell in love! Couldn't remember the name but with the pictures we took last year we figured it out! Had a white wine from Spain that was a cross between a unoaked Chardonnay and a Pinot Grigio. So good. Amazing food and a lot to choose from. Despite the fact that I frequent this restaurant, I can't help but order my two favorite tapas every time I go. These are: Garlic hummus: 10/10 The menu description for this item is- Kalamata and green olive, artichoke heart and roasted red pepper tapenade with extra virgin olive oil and toasted pita bread. The bread is delicious and just slightly toasted, perfect for hummus. The tapenade is fantastic. It is also served with some vegetables to dip, which I really enjoy. Those include celery, cucumber, carrots and cauliflower. Curry Cauliflower: 10/10 The cauliflower is cooked to perfection and the sauce is absolutely amazing every time. Please note that it is a bit spicy. The cooked, sliced onions on top are a nice addition. Nice to have another layer of texture and flavor. read more

I was in the area on a work trip and one of my co-workers recommended me visiting Siesta Village while here. After watching the sunset and very quick search of best places to eat near me, I decided to stop at The Cottage. Best decision I made. First the host didn't treat me any differently when I said I was dining alone. She was friendly and took me to a nice spot so I could listen to the live music. Then Cecelia....she was an absolute gem. Incredibly friendly and did NOT steer me wrong when I was stuck between ordering the Lobster Maki Sushi or the Seared Scallops. Based on her recommendation, I went with the Lobster Maki Sushi and it was the best decision. The flavors and mix of lobster with the shaved teriyaki tenderloin with just the right amount of char smoke was perfect...I cleaned my plate. But before that, I started with a bowl of the lobster bisque. I have eaten a lot of lobster bisque...it's one of my favorite soups. BUT the lobster bisque at The Cottage was one of the BEST I've ever had....certainly my absolute favorite! And on top of the amazing Cecelia and sweet host, I was checked in on by a wonderful woman who asked how I was, what I ordered, how I enjoyed everything...just made me feel so welcomed and at home...which helps a lot when you're stuck eating out alone. I didn't even know she was the GM until the very end when she introduced herself to me and we shared how I have a bracelet to follow a sea turtle and she has one to follow an elephant. If you haven't tried The Cottage yet, go now! I wish I was here longer so that I can go back again before leaving, but I'll make sure to be back next time I'm in town. The lemon and lavender drink was wonderful and refreshing for a nice hot day as was the Riesling that I had just sweet enough, but not overbearing. Overall, this is a really cute place for lunch or dinner. I was feeling in a seafood mood since we are in a beach town so we had the tuna which is like a tuna with some spicy on it and these crispy wonton crackers that look like a bow bun. My husband said they were good and flavorful, we shared a lobster bisque which was very flavorful and delicious. The Peruvian ceviche left something to be desired. While the Portion was good it was not the best I've had and the flavor was just ok. The lobster maki sushi was good a bit expensive even for lobster if you ask me but it was well balanced and came with a great wasabi mayo. Wow! Best dinner I've had all week! The humus was awesome and the lobster bisque very good. The lobster sushi was so good as was the poke bowl and the seafood linguine. An unexpected food experience! Our first night in Siesta Key and based on Yelp reviews, we tried The Cottage. I was worried at first because another reviewer mentioned a great happy hour. Not tonight. However, our server, Sarah, made some wonderful cocktail recommendations and also recommended the Tapas (tempura shrimp and short ribs). The food was an explosion of flavor! How did I not know short ribs are boneless. Seriously, get what we had: strawberry basil Martini, a Pain Killer and the Tapas! Really enjoyed our visit to The Cottage on Friday night. We got there around 6:15- and I'm glad we did as it was already getting very busy. We chose to sit at one of the sidewalk tables which was a risk as it was busy, but it made for excellent people watching. Our server took some time getting to our table, but once she came by she was great. She was friendly and joked about the birds above us and carrying my drink through the line of people waiting for a table. I ordered the Adam and Eve cocktail- delicious! Omg. Fig vodka and Prosecco with a basil leaf. I'm in. For food we went the tapas route in order to try a couple different items. We ended up choosing the Caesar salad, crab cake, tuna tacos, short rib, and truffle fries. Our hands down favorite was the tuna. We loved the crunchy wontons and the fresh avocado with the tuna. I've been coming to the cottage for ten years. It's a nice place that probably has one of the best burgers in town. The prices have been creeping up (now over $33 for a bison burger with truffle fries and a soda) and they charge for the valet service that used to be free. They are also pet tolerable but not pet friendly. When I arrived I asked if "we (dog and I) could have a table" and the host said "we? You mean it's just you." I said "yeah the dog and I - the two of us" The host tried to sit me on the sidewalk outside the restaurant. I declined. She asked again and pointed to a specific vacant two person table on the front patio. She said she would rather I sit in the corner. Mind you, it was a Monday off season at 3:00pm at there were all of two people eating there. Apparently there is a list of dog related rules at the host stand. When we violated one of them I was promptly corrected and told "I could read the rules if I liked." I found the comments throughout the interaction to be condescending and unwelcoming. I had debated leaving before ordering but I decided to stick it out. Ultimately, I'll eat there again but I now limit my visits to once per trip (I'm in town one weekend a month) and I wouldn't bring the dog with me again. read more

When in Siesta Key, FL you must dine at The Cottage. Inside or outside seating, large bar area, great food and great cocktails. Our first day dining here was so exemplary that we ran it back again that week. The area is perfect with other dining options which makes it difficult to choose but we hit the jackpot here. The mussels are delicious so is the salmon and other dishes. The flavors are immaculate and the presentation can go "toe to toe" with the fanciest of restaurants in the DMV corridor. The service was timely, friendly, and welcoming during both visits. The Cottage will be the number one spot to return!! Hopefully it will be a tad cooler so we can sit outside. read more

My wife and I ate here on 3/2/25. We were initially seated outside on the porch area towards the front. After being seated we were met with the distinct odor of "bum piss". We asked to be moved to another side of the upper patio area. We still got wiffs of bum piss throughout our meal, it just wasn't as bad. The front of this place must be where all the drinks piss late at night after getting trashed at the many bars in the area. My wife got a salad and truffle fries and I had the chicken sandwich. Both tasted delicious. However, this morning at 5AM my wife woke up very sick. We believe that she got food poisoning from her salad. This sucks as it has ruined our last day here on Siesta Keys. The Cottage was our second stop and by the end of our self guided tour, it was our favorite spot!! We went back the next night. Crystal was the bartender she was amazing, both my son and I are I the restaurant industry. Trust me she was that good. The drinks were spot on, the food incredible. I have never been to Siesta Key but have lived in FL for 12 years. On a day trip we found this place walking back from the beach and were pleasantly surprised. From the moment we walked up the staff was very accommodating. It was around 4pm and we wanted a few small bites with libations. The Cottage was fantastic. The drink menu was loaded with eclectic mixes. I selected a Tito's and soda with extra limes. The club soda was flat, but Sara was quick to replace it with fresh. The food was terrific. We started with the Lobster Maki Sushi which is a surf and Turf sushi roll. I was surprised it didn't have a bit more flavor considering all the ingredients, but was definitely a hit. For dinner we chose a Patio Salad with shrimp and classic Caesar Salad either grilled Salmon. The shrimp was seasoned well and complimented the candied pecans, avocado, and blue cheese crumbles. The Caesar salad is your typical caesar, but the homemade dressing was awesome. Well done. I replaced dessert with an espresso martini. Unfortunately, you have to be selective with where you order martinis because surprisingly there are few who know how to make them. However, I was drawn to the vigorous shaking of cocktails coming from the bar so I couldn't resist. The martini was made with real espresso, not a pre-made mixture from a bottle. I wish it had a bit more vodka, but I will definitely order this again. Overall great place. Service was immediate and attentive throughout dinner. The food was fantastic. We'll be back before week's up to try the tapas. So many unique choices. Can't wait to try them. read more
