A friend had recommended we check out The Covey and we were pleasantly surprised by our dining experience. This place doesn't take reservations, but the food and service are first class. The ambiance and decor is what you would expect from any major metropolitan hot & new dining locale, except with small mountain town charm and intimate finesse. Recommend sitting at the chef's bar. Pork Belly, Octopus and Beet salad were recommended by our server... all three of which were delicious. Also recommend the steak. Bon appetite! read more

I don't publically comment often but we had a pretty mediocre dining experience here given the expectations and pricing. We had below average food here at above average prices. Great space and decor and the cook setup looked amazing. The place gets great reviews so maybe we had an off night but I wouldn't go back. I say this as someone who never complains about food but I came pretty close to sending my entree back and taking off. The pheasant breast was so overdone it was chalky and the lentils were bone dry; I finished very little. It was a lousy dining experience during a slow service night. Full disclosure I did mention this and we got half off the amount of the entree but the fact it was sent out in the first place was surprising. Sorry but won't return. read more

This is from 3 weeks ago. Very noisy, the place was jammed.... it took 1& 1/2 hours from ordering food to having it on the table. If the cooks are to be on display, backwards baseball hats are not a good look. Kind of an "uh-oh, they just got off their ski-tuning jobs" kind of look. When the food finally came: not impressed. Perhaps the racket and the long waiting to eat affected our minds...once a person has become grumpy their perceptions change. I know several others who love the place and love the food. read more

Covey's owner simply could does not care about his customers. In March 2020, he raised his corkage fee (bringing own wine) to $50 per bottle. Meanwhile, just in January 2020, it was $35, still expensive but within range. When asked about the excessive corkage fee (discovered only when the check arrived), he said "I really don't care what you think". I will not go back and don't encourage others to dine on the B grade food. read more

Went here last minute for a post-hike dinner. Everything was simply wonderful. Reserved but relaxed atmosphere with attentive staff. Open kitchen with excellent apps and entrees. Good wine list and solid desert. We're new to the Ketchum area but so far this is the best restaurant we've come across. read more

I visited the Covey with my sister and we LOVED it! The atmosphere, artwork, open hearth, etc., make it a great place to linger and enjoy conversation as you enjoy a glass (or two) of wine. I can't say enough great things about the Covey! We are from the Bay Area and have access to world class food in San Francisco and this restaurant easily would be a highlight even in the crowded SF restaurant scene. The handmade pasta was out of this world delicious. I am not usually very into pasta and the Covey's pasta is an exception for sure. My trout was excellently prepared. And the ambiance- wow perfection! We enjoyed our meal out on the patio with 4 kids ages 4 and under in tow. I wasn't sure if this would be a kid friendly restaurant given the beautiful decor and high quality food but I was very wrong. It was easily the most relaxing meal I've had with children in recent memory. The owner was SO nice. Asked my daughter if she wanted to pick out the shape of her pasta and go see the chef to order it. He gave the kids all coloring books and crayons upon arrival and they have a kids table in the back as well. A+ for food, ambiance and the nicest owner ever. We can't wait to go back! read more

With all the 5 star reviews, I hate raining on the parade, however ... the good: the decor/venue is truly outstanding. The staff is attentive and the food was interesting (in a very good way) and quite delicious. My dig: My wife has serious gluten and food allergies. This is the 1st time I've ever been told - nope - we don't offer any specifically designated gluten free options (the trout was by default). When I expressed my surprise the server said I was the 1st person to ever even ask since they opened ... When my wife asked to substitute a vegetable she could eat - Nope - NO SUBSTITUTIONS! (explained that with the small menu they only have quantities for each meal and therefore cannot take a portion from another meal). I assume they will eventually address this issue (accommodate food allergies/gluten sensitivity), but until then my $$'s go elsewhere ... (P.S. if you eat on the small patio - bring sun glasses as there is no shade/screen from the setting sun!!) read more

We decided to go out and try this new restaurant in Ketchum. Great location, atmosphere and attention to detail... we don't normally eat out, but read about The Covey and wanted to try it.. We walked in without reservations, got seated at the kitchen stools and proceeded to an amazing meal, great service and fantastic staff! Since we enjoy food immensely, we tried an appetizer (celery soup and the cured ono tartare), Radiatori w/ duck and split a 16oz 90 day aged Niman Ranch Strip! The dessert Chocolate Creme pot was delicious.... Actually, everything was beyond expectations! We really enjoyed the flavors of the open hardwood flame preparation of the steak that just melted in your mouth... very different and distinct flavors throughout the entire meal that tantalized your tastebuds! Fun fact: you can also buy beer for the kitchen staff (4 beers for $12) but they also enjoy a splash of wine Will definitely go back! Thanks for a fun evening... read more

New restaurant in Ketchum. They don't take reservations and when we arrived were pushed hard to sit at the bar to eat. When we asked for a table, which were plentiful, we were told that the only two person table was for the owners who were coming later. After indicating that we might not stay they found a table rather quickly. When asked what our server's favorites were she pointed out the most expensive items in each category. The food was very good and the menu, although small in choices, was innovative. It was good. The problem was that they wanted that table and did everything they could to move us out of there. It was topped off when the server removed my plate, which was finished, and stared at my guest's plate which was not. My guest who realized what was going on indicated that the server could remove the partially finished meal so the server would leave us. After paying the check the server quickly removed our water carafe and left us our two half empty glasses of water. Well we left..........and won't go back. If you like being taken care of in Ketchum there are plenty of places that know how to do it. The Covey isn't one of them. read more
