I am very picky.. I've eaten everywhere around the world- This was/is the BEST French Dip I ever had.. I got it with extra cheese (I mean that makes things even better) The meat was so tender and flavorful.. the bread was not porous it was perfect soft but crispy didn't get soggy at all. The aujus not salty, just right to compliment the sandwich. Mother got the Colorado grilled cheese and loved it the sweet potato fries are fresh not frozen and delicious. My friends and I were driving to hiking spots southwest of Denver and stopped in Morrison for lunch. We decided on The Cow An Eatery, which turned out to be a very good choice! The restaurant has been there for many years, and still has the charm of a well-known, well-loved local place. We were seated on the enclosed patio, which was delightful given the good weather. Our waitress, Hattie, was friendly and efficient, and processed our requests for modifications to our order with a smile. We started with the fried pickles, which were scrumptious, and then each of us enjoyed our meals. I had the brussels sprouts salad, one friend had the 1/3-pound burger, and a third had the "famous fish n' chips". Everything was delicious and all the flavors were fresh. The fish and chips were really good. The fish was hand battered and fried well. Fries were more like like potato wedges, but they were tasty too. My wife said the buffalo mac n cheese was really good. She said the cheese "cut" the spice of the buffalo sauce and was pretty well balanced. She said "I would definitely order that again." Cute name with great food options. Our group of 4 each tried something different - cheesesteak, French dip, Cubano, and fiesta chicken - all very good. Service was so-so, they seemed a little frazzled (maybe working short staffed)? My husband's cocktail was not good - too much bitters. He usually doesn't let a drink go to waste, but this one he did. The stars of the chicken fried steak plate were the huge serving of mixed roasted veggies that included out of the ordinary Brussel sprouts, squash and broccoli, as well as the mashed potatoes with red potato skins on. Wow! Came here on a weekend and they are very busy, but pretty worth it. Not sure how much the iced coffee was (maybe a bit pricier than what I'm used to), but my boyfriend thought it was good. We ordered two veggie burgers which comes with a side of fries and an iced coffee. Our total was roughly twenty dollars and we chose to eat it by a bench nearby that overlooks a river (highly recommend). The burger was so so so good! It tasted like a very high quality veggie burger, as if they made it there which I think maybe they do. I highly recommend this spot, especially if you're vegan or vegetarian. The fries were so cool! They were shaped almost like a taco shell so they could hold whatever dipping sauce you like. The wait was a bit long from waiting in line to getting order but do give them a try! We were looking for a place in Morrison to get brunch and found THE spot. Their call ahead service on yelp gets you in line for seating. It's awesome because it tells you real time the waiting list. The food was simple but delicious and reasonably priced. I got the eggs benedict which was plain and simple, exactly what you'd expect. My boyfriend got the chicken and waffles and it was flavorful with the sweet and spicy syrups. Both very simple dishes, at a reasonable price. Verdict: Good for a bite after a Red Rocks workout. Sure, just about anything would probably taste good after you've beaten yourself up running those Red Rocks steps. I still think I got a pretty good breakfast burrito. It's not New Mexico good but I didn't expect it to be. The burrito did have a nice amount of heat. The size was right. I didn't have to eat the whole thing but I did anyway. Everyone else got different menu items and all of them were looking pretty good. Looks like a fun place to eat, giant cow statue which was intriguing. We put our name on the waitlist, had to wait for about a half hour. Eventually, we went back inside to check our place on the waitlist, apparently we had been bumped. The hostess put our phone number in wrong. She received a text saying the number didnt exist when she sent out a notification that our table was ready, but didn't bother to step out the door and let us know. After a long wait we did get seated. We ordered and then waited about 40 minutes for our food. In the meantime, I drank a cup of coffee which was never offered to be refilled by our server. A different host did notice that our coffees had been empty for a while and offered to refill them. After I received my order, I realized they erroneously gave me regular potatoes instead of the sweet potatoes that I had ordered. At this point I was just excited to finally have my food. Stopped for lunch around 2pm and while crowded, we only had to wait as they cleaned up a table outside for us ( we asked for the covered patio space rather than take an empty seat inside, just our preference). Had the Tempura Mushrooms. Now I come from PA, just a few short miles from the mushroom capital of the world, Kennet Square, and these were large, flavorful and had a great dipping sauce. Yum. Then a patty melt with a great piece of meat, onions and melted cheese on thick slices of rye. Will definitely come back the next time we have a show at Red Rocks. WORST Sunday brunch ever. Surprisingly because I have had wonderful meals here before. But after this experience I will choose another restaurant. So what happened? 1. We expected and we're happily added to the list and went shopping. They texted us to let us know a table was ready. 2. I asked to be seated on the patio but was told that was an "extremely long wait." 3. They wanted us to sit at the actual bar?! Really? So I explained that I can't sit on bar stools because of a knee problem. So horrible hostess. Hang on. It gets worse. 4. The service was extremely slow. Had to ask for water 3 times. I have waited tables and if I were this bad? I wouldn't have expected a tip! 5. Food was horrible.
