THERE is no place like this! Best darn burger we've tasted and the fries cannot be replicated. Moved here from Michigan and tried it and we are ruined from other burger places. Wish they sold the seasoning spices and craft sauce so we could send to family up north. They just will have to wait til it's safe to come down and experience on their own. Don't get me wrong, the food is pretty good but not good enough to come back. The cashier guy is an a**. I first came to try it on Feb 16, 2021.... they were closed for no reason other than it was cold. "No worries", I said "I'll come back tomorrow." Next day, I call first to make sure they are open, guy answers, " hold please" he then sets the phone down and I can hear him serving other customers... "okay, they were there first." He then serves another after that one. I listened to him chit chat with the cook for about 10 mins. I'm upset now, but, I'll just drive up there and try them anyway. I walk in, and say " Hi it's my first time here", guy says "cool, take your time" I ordered a Good People's IPA, a cheeseburger, and seasoned fries. Came out to $15 and some change. "Hang on" I thought. Looked at the receipt and he charged me $5 for an import beer in a can.... first thing, this is not an import, it is brewed in Birmingham,AL. The same place this restaurant is. Second thing, $5 for A beer in a can!!! And Third, when I asked " Hey, what's up with this charge" he says, "that's just how it is" Not good enough for me to come back honestly. read more

Loved it! Not the absolute best burger I've ever had but The Craft Burger is a great place that uses solid ingredients. I had no idea this place was in the works and just happened to stumble onto it via a Google search. It looked so good that I convinced my wife that we needed to try it that night. We ordered a whole salad, swiss burger, slaw dog and a chocolate shake. The salad was pretty good, considering we were at a burger and fries place, with fresh lettuce, veggies and tasty ranch dressing. I enjoyed the burger more than my wife, she said it needed some extra seasoning, and felt like you could really taste the love put into the burger patty. I will say that I'm not sure how I feel about the Ron Swanson burger convention of "here's your burger, plain, add toppings, do what you want, I don't care." Adding my own toppings, in theory, is good because I can make it how I want it, but to me I want the Chef to have thought out the entire package. I'm most likely just expecting too much for a $7 cheeseburger. The slaw dog had great ingredients, it just wasn't for me. If it sounds good to you then don't be afraid to go for it. Oh and the buns on both the burger and hot dogs were toasted, which is always an appreciated touch. Lastly was the shake. It may be the best shake I've had in Birmingham. It was a good ole fashioned chocolate shake that was thick and delicious. Nothing fancy but I woofed that sucker down. This is a mediocre burger place. Meat was fresh and the brioche bun was fresh. However, the bun was just straight out-of-the-wrapper. It was presented cold and vegetables on the burger were just okay. The fries were unremarkable. There are lots of burger places and this one is not at the top of the list. The Good: Great concept for the area. Solid menu which I like because they aren't trying to do too much and it should help with consistency. Draft beer. Good spot for families. Needs work: Agree with others that an upgrade to the bun would do wonders. Bun has been kind of soggy my two trips. Also maybe cook the burger in a way that gets a little char. Overall I'm a fan and will be back but these two tweaks would make a big difference in taking the burger from a fast food style burger to more of a gourmet burger. read more

I am not one to write reviews or really complain but I went to my favorite place to get a delicious steak sandwich just like I always had in the past and wow was I disappointed when they brought my order and I had realized they had went from delicious chopped up pieces of filet to what appeared to be Steakum. That's right you remember when we were kids and had those thin little slices of what they said was steak but you were not really sure. I was crushed. My family seemed to enjoy their burgers and homemade chips which is another favorite of mine. Their burgers are good but you can get a good burger a lot of places in Bham but you can't get a truly good steak sandwich in a lot of places in Bham and now you can't get one at Craft Burger anymore either. Won't be coming back unless they bring back their real steak sandwich. I did ask the employee why they changed the steak sandwich and he said "the owner has gone cheap on us". It's a shame when you try to save a little money and it totally ruins a menu item. The comment about seeing me in the store was to let me know you know me and to make me feel uncomfortable I'm sure but I have been a loyal customer of yours and I am sure you have seen me and you also have my full name also as I was totally transparent with leaving the review under my Facebook profile. I am sure you have had many complaints on this issue and I was so upset over it that it moved me to comment on it. Not sure how there are so many good reviews. Our experience was awful. Got two sandwiches: a burger and a cuban. The burger was all grisly and one of the worst burgers either of us have eaten. The only good thing I can say about the burger is "at least it's not the cuban". Their cuban was not just the worst cuban sandwich I've ever had, it was the worst sandwich I ever had...bar none. The food is made with high quality ingredients, and they are well prepared! THE SAUCES PEOPLE. They're home made and most excellent. I had the steak sandwich, fiancé had the craft burger, both were full of beefy goodness. Above everything else, the service here is a dream. Genuinely friendly and helpful staff make the place feel like home. I think most impressively, I asked if they had fried pickles because I thought I saw them on here. I feel a sorta kinda way about this place. The staff always seems like they could care less and will always leave off your bacon that you pay extra for - pay attention! I've been here a few times because I live nearby but the prices are high for what you get, and it's usually where we go when we're desperate...ly hungover. The buns are great and the meat is good, but I wish they had more customization options for the burgers. I have ordered here at least twice before because they are local to me and McDonalds is the only other closest choice and that's a BIG NO. So tonight I ordered a Slaw Burger from them. And truthfully I am not a slaw fan. I have never ordered slaw but only to try it on there burger. So it left me feeling good. Tonight when I ordered my slaw burger again, picked it up curbside and when I got home opened my burger and wasn't fluffy as it would be but flat like it was just about plain with cheese. Came in today for 2 quick cheese burgers with 2 fries and 2 shakes. First they told us that they had no ability to make shakes today. Ordered tea instead. That should have been the first clue. After waiting more than 30 minutes after ordering I went in to ask for a second time if our 2 burgers and fries were close to being ready. The cashier gave me a smart a@$ remark that "it was not going to be any faster than then last time I asked" and asked me if I wanted my money back so I said yes. I explained that this was just 2 cheese burgers and 2 fries and asked if it always took this long. He said it was an unseasonably busy but when I left 1/2 the tables were empty. I am positive that if the service continues in this manner, both in length of time to deliver 2 simple cheese burgers and 2 orders of fries with no ability to deliver any shake, that they will not last beyond the term of their lease. May God have mercy on you and good luck in your next future endeavor. It probably should not be running a simple restaurant. It's "off the beaten path" so most people do have to go out of their way to find this restaurant, located in a strip mall near a Publix. The burgers and fries are extremely tasty.
