The quality of this restaurant has really gone down. We've been dinning here for years, since they first opened. When they first opened, everything is delicious. They were generous on the garlic, condiments and flavors. Now (last week) they've cut corner on everything. For a party of 6, they gave us exactly 6 lemon wedges. We ordered 4 lbs of clams, but it seems like they give us more shells than whole (there weren't much clam meats fallen on the bottom of the bag). Our bill was over $200 and we walked out still feeling hungry and got snacks inside the complex... I'm sad this restaurant is victim of our poor economy. They definitely raised the prices, but lower the quality. We really loved coming here, but after our last few experiences, we probably won't be returning. After you're seated be prepared to wait extremely long and flag your server down in to come take your order. Happened with my party of 3 and party of 7. Made a reservation for a Sunday dinner at 6pm - it wasn't too busy in the restaurant but I still recommend making one even though it's spacious! Their menu has a bunch of combos on the menu. Different mixes of your usual suspects. We ordered the combo #4 spicy and hut special sauce. The spicy is more of like a medium than spicy. I usually don't eat spicy but the waitresses said it wasn't too spicy. We also ordered a soft shell crab basket with Cajun fries. The soft crab was cooked very well. The batter was super crunchy. Flavorful but didn't taste too greasy. The Cajun fries were great, super crunchy. The main event the combo #4 comes with shrimp, Manila clams and snow crab clusters. There was two of them in there, one for me and one for my buddy. A lb of shrimp had around 20 shrimps. We added sausage and potatoes. The sauce is a little bit on the sweeter side, so depending on flavor of profile you're looking for if you're looking for super garlicky or salty then it's not that. It was tasty though and I was dipping the fries and the soft shell crab into it. The location is great nestled in one of the stores at rodeo 39. I came here during the soft opening and the first week they opened because they had specials. Prices were decent, and the flavors were okay -- definitely better than some of the overly sweet sauces I've had elsewhere. I do want to come back to try some of the appetizers since they looked good. I also had high hopes for the fries (they use that battered style I used to get in Houston that we don't really see here), but when I tried them, they didn't come out the same. The garlic noodles were amazing, the shrimp was a tad overcooked but still edible. Both the head on shrimp and crab legs were cooked perfectly and had great texture. The spicy Cajun sauce was not very spicy, had a mild heat but you could also enjoy flavors which I preferred. My guests liked the garlic noodles the best but I liked the head-on shrimp and it's sauce. All in all I would come again, but not frequently due to location. My boyfriend and I ordered the Crawfish Hut Sampler and it was AMAZING! I'm a huge fan of seafood boils (especially crab, shrimp, and clams), and this one is by far the best I've ever had. We added sausage and went with the head-on shrimp--totally worth it. The Hut Special sauce (mild spice) was perfection--flavorful with a slight sweetness, not overly greasy, and seasoned just right. The shrimp were HUGE, the corn and potatoes cooked perfectly, and every bite of seafood was delicious. Unlike other boils I've had, this one didn't leave me feeling bloated or overly salted. Next time we'll definitely add an extra order of potatoes because they were so yummy! The restaurant had great ventilation and it was cleanly.
