This was really good BBQ! We didn't know what to expect but we were craving bbq and so we got take out for lunch while in a trip to Carmel. We ordered the brisket sandwich with a side of beans and the two meat combo with ribs, tri tip, corn bread, potato salad and beans. Their meat was juicy, super tender, great smoke rings. I order online through their website for 11:15a pickup on our way to Big Sur. I get there and the guy says he doesn't see that the order is ready, wait a few. I wait over 20 min and ask about it again. They finally figure out that they never made it and make it on the spot. I finally get my order 40 min later and get a barely audible sorry. What's worse is that the guys putting the order together isn't wearing gloves and I watched him do chores throughout the restaurant where he should have at least washed his hands. After all of that we get to the spot we are going to eat and find that the bread to the kids meal is missing (confirmed by the person answering the phone when I called to ask why the kids meal is just meat and a bag of potato chips). We are already in Big Sur at this point so my child just ate chips for lunch even though we paid $9.40 for him to have a meal. The guy did say he could give us a free corn bread the next time we come through if I gave him our name but he just says bye and hangs up. I was very nice despite being super annoyed with the whole situation bc I understand he is just a kid and lacking experience. We were quite excited when Crossroads BBQ opened their doors several years ago. The wonderful smell coming from the outdoor BBQ smokers does not allow one to simply ignore and walk by. Whether you alone or planning a large event, this is the place to order the best pulled pork, ribs, tri-tip etc. with all of the sides. Honestly the best bbq I've had in a long time. We're from out of town and were craving somethin hearty. The tri-tip was amazing and TENDER. Spicy bbq sauce was perfectly spicy and peppery! Chicken was really plump and juicy too. I went back in because we thought we were given a regular size order instead of a large size ; it was the correct order but they gave us extra tri-tip anyway. Only bummer was the beans. A little bland, could've used some more flavor, but that's not enough of a flaw to knock this place down a star. Called to place an order when the phone was answered there was no greeting I had to ask if it was Crossroads BBQ, got a snippy answer and was put on hold then disconnected called back and when I was finally connected was told " oh we have a lot of calls tonight" when I placed the order and wanted to use my credit card to pay I ea asked for my pin number?? Asked my and was told it was to make sure the sale went through said no thanks and hung up. Front of house helps rotates quickly, and has very poor customer skills, not a good way to build a repeat customer base. read more

Crossroads BBQ does a really nice job on most things and only so so on a few others. The smoked brisket is really really good (and Smokey) unless. you happen to get a really fatty piece, which can happen if you don't ask for "lean". Ribs and chicken are also very good. We are not as impressed with the tri-tip (very tough, less Smokey), the links or the beans (very bland). Overall, Carmel is lucky to have a good BBQ place and I hope people will visit often and help them get through Covid. read more

Was OK at first but you cannot call that bread garlic bread.! We get take out from there because it's not the kind you want to stay in . The sauce is GREAT. But the last three times I had to throw away at least half of the FATTY meat! It was mostly just fat. The brisket was good when it opened until lately. It's too bad because we had it at least once a week and now I think we'll wait for some time or maybe try something else on the menu. I loved the ribs and trip tip. The ribs were very meaty and the tri tip was very tender and juicy. I was very disappointed with the side dishes. Potato salad- too much vinegar and odd flavor Beans- undercooked and also lacked flavor Coleslaw- lacked flavor Garlic bread- lacked flavor I would never dine in and eat there just because of the awful side dishes. Next time I go there to takeout it will be for meat only. It would be nice to have french fries, mashed scallop or baked potato as a side dish. read more

The tri-tip, ribs & Chicken were all yummy. But the beans had an off taste, a little burnt taste. The potato salad was a smashed potato salad with onions, no pickles. And a big minus was the lack of anyone cleaning tables. We sat in the side room and no one ever came to pickup our trays, which we piled on a side bar against the wall, or ask if we needed anything else. Nor did anybody clean the other tables in the room the entire time we were there. When we left they were all covered with rubbish. Not a good atmosphere to eat in. Got brisket and ribs combo. The driest brisket I've ever been served! Great taste, little smoke and no smoke ring, but taste was good thru the dry chew. Ribs were good however, the smallest ribs I've seen served. Tiny with too much cartilage and fat on end. Three bites, and the meat on ribs were gone! Sides were waisted as the blandest potato salad and inedible beans....way too much chili powder or similar spice in beans. Bread was meah... This is great barbecue, and their sauce is excellent. I'm partial to the spicy. The setting is casual and they have an excellent selection of beer on tap and bottle. The staff is super-friendly and there are a couple of large TVs to catch an event. Great BBQ! I really like their food all around, haven't had anything that wasn't good. The Santa Maria salad with Tri tip is my favorite. Food is a little on the pricey side but pretty typical for BBQ. Restaurant is clean, trendy feeling, staff is fine, easy parking.
