I would rate 0 stars if possible. Don't bother making reservation on Open Table bc as per the restaurant it's "not a real reservation, just puts you on a waiting list". We got there for our reservation and was told the wait was going to be 30 mins. We were frustrated of course but willing to wait. Then the "manager" came out, a gentleman in a cheap suit with his nose hanging out of his mask, and instead of trying to be accommodating or apologetic he made the situation worse. He rudely told us we had to wait or leave and, on top of that, said we would have to wait outside IN THE RAIN. We've ordered the food to go a couple of times before this and it was decent but the one in Garden City is definitely better -- food and service wise. (Probably because there is a different manager there). If you're not going to honor reservations then remove yourself from OpenTable. It's a bait and switch, you show up for your reservation and then they tell you to wait as if you just walked in. And I am sure most people are like "well we are here already...might as well wait." The reviews are very mixed. I walked up and down Bell Blvd when the lights and music caught my attention. The manager greeted us at the door and we were seated upstairs right away upon request. The appetizers were good. We had Guacamole with chips( had to add more salt), the chicken quesadillas was really good, the chicken and shrimp empanadas with sauce was really good. I wanted a nice fruity Instagramable drink but the only thing thing they could recommend as their aesthetically nicest drink was a basic mojito .. so fine ... we ordered the calamari , the breading had no taste whatsoever . Very dark in color almost over cooked. we ordered the potato croquettes, that was 3/10. Fast forward to ordering dinner, I ordered the CHURRASCO CUBANO** and the steak medium , the steak was hot on the outside and cold on the inside , I told the waitress the food needed to be warmed up. The steak was chewy not medium as I ordered. the rice and beans (congri) was the only thing on my plate I enjoyed. my boyfriend ordered CHULETA LA ISLA** the pork chop was dry and it didn't taste fresh. The plantains were ok and the rice was the best thing on the plate. Definitely overpriced for the food quality being served. only good thing about this place was the DJ and the drinks. Went for lunch today and was not happy . I had the beer braised pork tenderloin. First the pork was very dry. I could also tell the pork was microwaved because half the pork was room temperature and the other half very hot. The spinach it came with was very salty. My husband got the Pollo al Ajillo. The chicken was extremely dry and his rice was also half hot . It took his appetite away so he left the plate behind barely eaten. Today was my first and last visit to The Cuban. Sadly, I was very disappointed with the behavior of whom I believe was the manager. She was rude upon our arrival as well as leaving. My 8 year old daughter wanted a picture by the stairs. We waited for the staircase to be cleared. This woman rudely asked what did we want as we waited. This was the perfect find on Bell Blvd. I have enjoyed The Cuban on Long Island many times, and each time I have returned with a larger number of friends than the one before. This new location prepared everything exactly to the same high quality that I know from Long Island. It offered an astounding variety in both app and entree, both as rich in flavor as the authentic cuisine itself. Every mojito of every variety was robust and balanced, and this location seems to offer an expanded cocktail menu, to offer a little something of quality for every taste. I anticipate that this place will find itself in as high demand, if not higher, and I think it is a much needed addition to the scene here. read more

Last friday, my friend and I went there for dinner. The waitress was helpful and she even helped me pick my meal. She mentioned a special and that the price was 25dollars. My friend and I both heard the price. When we received the bill it said 52 dollars. I called her to clarify the mistake and she said that she told me it was 52 dollars. I asked her to speak to a manager. Woman came and said that she would believe me if it was another waitress but that waitress would never made that mistake. This two star rating is based on my entire experience. I understand that during Covid things may not be running as expected, and things will be different. However, there are certain things that are inexcusable. This was my experience. I chose to sit inside with my boyfriend, and clearly you have to wear your mask until you are seated (which is understandable). However, when I decided to use the restroom I got up, (Also keep in mind that I stood up for 2 seconds and did not take a step) and before I could even put my mask on a woman (who I am assuming is the manager) gave me an attitude and said "when you stand you have to put a mask on!" I instantly felt uncomfortable, and found it to be very rude and disrespectful, as there is a way to speak to your paying customer! Secondly, our waiter was another problem. I don't know how they choose to interact with there customers, but what I went through was clearly not the way. The waiter that we had (who was a woman if I may add) apparently lives in a male chauvinistic world, and did not acknowledge me at all! She only chose to acknowledge my boyfriend, and only asked him what he would like to order and if he needed anything, as she proceeded to check in on us. Not once did she look me in the eye. It got to the point that I had to ask my boyfriend to order my drinks for me! I was disgusted! I have never experienced such disrespect in any establishment. Third, the food was mediocre at best! The only thing that was good was the margarita drinks. Perhaps they should educate there employees on treating both men and women as equals. We are living in different times. read more
