I was meeting a group of about ten others to have lunch here and then visit the museum. They have both indoor and outdoor tables for lunch. They are open from 11-3 every day except Thursday, when they are open until 7. The menu is very nice with six appetizers, five salads, and eleven handhelds and entrees. I went with one of my favorite dishes, shrimp and grits. It came with five delicious blackened shrimp, and a bowl of grits seasoned with a chipolte garlic cream sauce, cojita cheese and corn salsa. It had a good level of spice, but not too much. Some of my fellow diners had the French dip sandwich, quiche, salads, and a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup. Went with friends and couple of weeks ago. Had a nice selection of cocktails and cocktails. Split chips with blue cheese crumbles and balsamic glaze. Yum !!! Two people had the grilled cheese , one with tomato soup and one with an orzo salad. Both said it was excellent. A other friend had shrimp and grits. I had a crab cake sandwich. Had a lunch reservation for Valentine's Day for the cafe patio. The staff member who greeted us while checking in was so kind and went above and beyond to make our experience memorable by saving us a beautiful table. We were so appreciative. The food was fantastic and arrived quickly. We ordered the hummus plate to start and two chicken salads. Both of the dishes will bring me back to the cafe in the future...they were that good. We started with a lovely cheese board and Cuban sandwich sliders (pickles on the side.) for the entree on this spring afternoon, everyone loved the quiche Lorraine, the best I ever had, with a crab cake and a beautiful salad. One guest (the groom) opted for kettle chips instead of salad...he wouldn't share!! our meal was completed with a beautiful trio of desserts. What a lovely lunch with a special friend. Waiter was right there when we sat down to get our drinks order. Expresso martini is fantastic. We had Cobb salad less chicken added crab cake. Crispy greens, yummy bacon and fresh feta along with lemon thyme dressing (very light but paired deliciously with the crab cake). Crab cake was very good with a lot of crab not fillers. Best part was the stroll thru one gallery showing quilts. Amazing and the young lady that was there was very well informed and answered several questions. I recommend a visit to the Cummer Cafe if you visit the museum. For the price, you get a generous portion and the service is very cordial. I enjoyed the Blue Chips $9 and Killer Whale Cream Ale $5.40. The chips were a layered with blue cheese (maybe a little too much) and topped with sweet tangy balsamic vinegar. I've only been in this cafe for special birthday lunch twice & it's been great both times. For my friend Debbie's bday she picked the cafe & I'm glad she did. It was such a beautiful day so we picked outdoor seating. The umbrellas help keep leaves from falling on us. Sitting outdoors was so relaxing. My friend ordered the sangria & she loved it. They add cinnamon & the scent makes it taste sweeter. For our entrees we picked the Curry chicken salad with in a salad, and another in a croissant. My other friend picked the Cobb salad. Everything tasted fresh. The service was great, nice & attentive. For such a nice place it's surprisingly not expensive. After our enjoyable meal we walked around the Egyptian exhibit. I missed the cutoff for Yelp Restaurant Week for this place on purpose because Brunch is for Sundays. That's the unwritten rule. A friend and I came here for food and a meeting of the minds and what a perfect setting for it. We opted to sit outside since the weather was beautiful and chose a table near the sculpture with water streaming down it's sides and also near the flowers. I had to get a Mimosa because again, Sunday Brunch and it was the right balance of Orange Juice and Champagne. We shared a Cheese Plate with fruit and crostini as we decided on our entrees. I chose the Crab Cake Benedict and I'm so glad I did. That cake was more crab and less filler, if there was any. I'm not sure. Some of the freshest crab you'll ever eat. My friend ordered the Shrimp & Grits and not just any grits, goat cheese grits. I tasted a little bit of hers and I was thoroughly in impressed. I went on a Tuesday (the Museum entry is free on Tuesdays thanks to a generous grant from Florida Blue and Tapas Tuesday is sponsored by VyStar Credit Union). The Museum is filled with beautiful artworks from various collections - and the cafe is situated near the entrance. Most days, due to our fantastic North Florida weather, I opt to sit outside on the terrace. Sitting under the Canopy of a beautiful live oak makes for an enjoyable afternoon or evening. They have heaters for colder evenings if needed. I enjoyed a delicious caprese salad with fresh mozzarella and a balsamic vinaigrette. I sat inside, so I could enjoy the guitar soloist. I'm not sure if Restaurant Week affected things, but my original request of crab cakes came back with "unfortunately we're out", but no worries - I'm glad they were busy! A few friends and I decided to stroll over to the Cummer Café for a lunch on their patio, since it was such a beautiful day. Their patio is very peaceful, except for the plethora of acorns that attack you with any light breeze. Acorns aside, we put in a round of refreshing iced tea which came served in their quaint mason jars, and I ended up ordering their Roast Beef & Arugula sandwich, made with thinly sliced sirloin, roasted red onions, arugula, and boursin on Ciabatta served with kettle chips. It was a great sandwich although it rang in at $11, but the ambiance (sans acorns) was worth it. The wait staff was very pleasant and it was the perfect relaxing lunch for a Friday afternoon. I'd like to come back on a day when I'm not at work so I could try either their sangria, shandy, or have a nice mimosa (they also have a few Intuition beers and Stella for the beer lovers out there). A DISAPPOINTMENT!!!! I was there on Saturday 2/20. We sat on the outside, it took 25 minutes for the waitress to come to our table. Another 20 minutes for our drinks (2 coffees and a mimosa). And another 25 minutes for our food. The cheese board is a pathetic ceramic plate with 3 small pieces of cheese, some honey and 3 figs. No crackers or bread. The chips are lays chips with tons of vinegar and feta cheese all over which made it super salty and impossible to eat. The only thing that was worth eating was the crab cakes which were okay. I've wanted to go there for a while since it looks inviting from the pictures but now I am never going back to that cafe. The bill came to over $125 for me and my daughters. For much less than that I'd have walked to the Farmers Market and eat some really good and tasty food. read more

If Denyse's service is any indicator, I would come back to this cafe as often as possible for a warm dining experience. She not only was prompt in her service, but she asked lots of questions about what I felt like and offered suggestions. She checked back with me often and even brought me some water without me having to ask, offered me a to-go cup for my coffee I hadn't drunk and even offered a fresh cup. I felt like the only diner in the place until I turned around and saw her manning 6 other tables. It was a pleasure to overtip her. I had the corn chowder, which was devilishly delicious. I know that there was a lot more butter in there than I would've put in at home, but that's what made it such a pleasure. I loved that Denyse asked me if I wanted bread service with my soup, so it made me feel like I was getting something extra special, versus it just coming with the dish. The place gets a bit festive early in the day with all the happy people, so if you were planning to have a decent study session in silence, this is not the place where you will get that done, you could always eat and settle off into a gallery somewhere to hide and enjoy your quiet time. read more

If it's not raining, I would recommend seating outside. The staffs were very friendly. I absolutely love the food. On Sunday they a different menus (brunch). What a oasis this is! I would be proud to bring anyone here for a quaint lunch. The patio has a relaxing feel with all the raised red umbrellas portioned perfectly in the dark wooded space or seating inside by the large window while drawing the warmth of the sun is also a perfect choice. The menu has many options for all taste as I found mine in the Chicken Salad which was so well portioned it became two meals.
