We just moved up here, so this was our first time at the Cutting Board. We discovered that they have a hamburger bar, so we ordered hamburgers. When they arrived at our table we went over to the bar to top the burgers. There was ketchup, mustard, pickles, onions, and more. They also had potato salad, coleslaw, and potato chips. We had ordered French fries, but next time we'll take advantage of one or more of those. The salad bar has also reopened. Next time we go, I'll be sure to try that out. Do not eat here. Frozen veggies, canned meat, overpriced food. I've had the crab cakes before and they were good. I ordered crab cakes with seasonal vegetables again today and they brought me crab cakes that didn't have any crab in it and stewed cabbage. My crab cakes were oily, heavy, and tasted like canned tuna. My vegetables were not seasonal. Boiled cabbage is not fresh or seasonal. I would give 5 stars to our server Jordan. She was great. She was very attentive and nothing but sweet. Including when they overcooked my steak. My first ribeye was medium (I asked for extra rare). It was paper thin, so I'm not surprised it was overcooked. My husband got an 8 ounce filet ordered medium rare and it came rare which he was ok with. But it was bland and needed salt and pepper. I got French onion soup which wasn't baked, just slapped a slice of provolone on top of some cubed bread in the bowl. It tasted fine, but I missed that extra step. Went there May 17,2023 to eat with my mom, husband and a few people from church. My mother and I were going to share a flounder plate and was told that if we share it would be an extra 6.99. I get if it had been the salad buffet that we were going to share but it was a plate that come with 2 pieces of flounder and 2 sides I don't eat all that much neither does my mom. We stopped here for lunch today, first time since they opened in this location - went to the old location, now & then. Nice new digs, bright and roomy, with a large, attractive bar area. You are met promptly by a hostess, quickly seated, and waited on just as quickly. Among reasons for coming here has always been the salad bar and their excellent burger. They remain good reasons. I've always believe that most decent restaurants do certain things well, and once you find out what those things are, you pretty much stick with them. Go off the reservation, and you may not like what you find - it not unlike doing genealogy work on your wife's family - some scary stuff. The burger here is big, tasty, and prepared correctly. What is kinda neat here is that they bring you a plain burger, or with the cheese you ordered, and you get to go to this garnish bar. Totally nice concept, build your own burger (and some side items), and get a little exercise as well. You have the usual suspects - tomato, lettuce, ketchup, mustard, mayo, onion - but you also have potato salad (nice version here, no sweet pickles), potato chips (bag variety), and slaw (which appeared not to have any mayo in its makeup). Anybody can bring you a burger with all the stuff already on it. The salad bar is two island wide, and pretty much loaded. if you can not find what you want here, salad was probably not what you really had in mind to begin with. This is the kind of salad bar people on diets search for - it;s a salad bar, how bad can that be? When you have to carry you salad plate back to the table with two hands, your current diet may not be working. Our third member ordered a chicken salad sandwich, and the sandwich came out first - alone - total party foul. Our waitress walked by, saw what had happened, and was mortified. She took the sandwich, which had not be touched, back, and said a fresh one would be brought when the rest of our order was ready, and it was. She apologized several times, as did the manager on duty - nice recovery, good folks doing a solid job. I moved here not too long ago, but out of all the restaurants I've ate at, this has to be worst-- other than Kimbers in Gibsonville. Was about what I expected. Not a place you bring someone to impress them. My wife and I dined here at around 5:30 on a Sunday. There were a few tables spread around the quite large restaurant. Immediately I noticed one thing. It was very quiet. There was no music playing and not a lot of clientele in the place so it felt rather uncomfortable. The decor was fine. Dated for sure. It could use a face lift but wasn't tacky. The restaurant was clean and the host that greeted us was nice. The service could've used improvement. Our server was just a little better than competent. She wasn't rude or anything, but didn't pretend to care if we were there or not. A manager/owner coming over and checking on things would have been a nice touch. As far as the food it made it to the table in less than 20 minutes and everything was hot. I ordered the sirloin medium rare and it was closer to medium but there was still pink so I sucked it up and ate it. The asparagus was hot and cooked through but still held together but not much in the way of flavor. The bread was just buttery soggy bread. My wife ordered the ribs. They were fall of the bone but still had texture. The sauce was good. The fries that came with her ribs could have used a seasoning of some kind but there was salt and pepper on the table. All and all this probably deserves 2.5 stars, not 3. If you know how to cook there is nothing here that will wow you. The service was meh, and the ambience was stiff. read more

This just really failed to meet expectations. Service was really slow in spite of the fact that nobody else was really there. We got sat in the bar, in the back. My date faced the room, but I faced the corner and it just added to the mediocrity of the visit. I had the ribeye and it was ok, but not ok for the price. Think Waffle House steak only $18. And even if you order your steak well done, get it medium rare. Impossible to under cook a steak that thin. It took a long time to get drink refills. They advertise a multi item salad bar, and I'm sure somebody has counted, but you should go to Ruby Tuesday to get a better salad bar if that is what you want. About halfway through, they sat another 2 top right beside of us (in spite of the restaurant being nearly empty) and it was really awkward since we could easily hear each other talking and catch each others' eyes. That table sent both of their meals back as they were clearly wrong (I noticed as soon as the server brought it out before she sat it down, since I obviously knew what those ladies had ordered). Like stated below went on Father's Day win party of 11, 5 of which were children.They were busy and with no reservations we waited in the bar for about an hour which was understandable for a large party. They sat us at two tables with one adult having to sit with the kids. The waiter then took over 30 minutes to take and bring drinks when most had drinks and for got to get the kids table. Went there this past weekend and I witnessed a very unprofessional exchange take place with the manager. There were 4/5 young ladies having brunch and I heard the waitress tell them that the buffet included "bottomless" drinks including mimosas. The ladies ordered quite a bit of mimosas (about 12 altogether). The waitress then came and said that the bartender said he was going to charge for the mimosas cause they were using up all the alcohol. When their bill came they called the waitress over stating that they were all charged for a drink (dAll rink were suppose to the included). They requested a manager and when he came out he had straight attitude. He stated that his waitress would never tell them that mimosas were unlimited and that he was going to call the police???? He said that only 1 mimosas was included however he couldn't explain why there were 13 mimosa glasses on the table but the ladies were all charged for 1 each? The ladies paid and left. I spoke with them afterwards and found out that 2 of the ladies were school teachers, 1 a nurse and 1 was a mortgage loan officers for a large credit union. All were mothers. The Cutting Board is trapped in "1980s steakhouse" mode, but that is not a bad thing. The food is very traditional, well-prepared, and presented by well-trained servers. I ordered the "President's Cut" sirloin, an 8 ounce portion. Then, it became tricky: for one price, you may choose two sides; for $1 extra, you may upgrade to a "signature" side; for another price, you may choose one side and a trip to the salad bar. This was confusing, and it would help if they would split the difference and charge one price for all options! At any rate, I had the steak with one side (a baked potato with whipped butter and sour cream) and a trip to the salad bar ($14.79). The salad bar includes a number of options, truly something for everyone. However, if you are going to offer your salad bar with pride (I think they call it "world famous"), you need to 1. make sure there is no brown and/or slimy lettuce on the bar and 2. make all your dressings in-house. Other than these quibbles, I found the bar more than adequate. (My dining partner ordered a cheeseburger, and really liked the "world famous" garnish bar and its "secret recipe" potato salad.) The steak was simply perfect: char-grilled to my preferred temperature and very flavorful. The baked potato accompanying the steak was, surprisingly, very good; it reminded me of the potatoes at the old Staley's Steakhouses that used to be all over the Triad. Likewise, the Carolina (Texas) Toast could not have been more true-to-form. Service was not uptight or formal, but very efficient and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is 1980s steakhouse: red walls, brass lighting fixtures, private dining areas adjoining a larger dining room, and 80s pop (literally!) as the background music. All things considered (including the fact this place is just off an interstate), The Cutting Board is worth a re-visit! read more

The outside of the building looks great. When I walked in I waited several minutes to be seated because there was not a hostess at the door. After being seated I began to review the menu. I saw that they had an all you can eat salad bar. The 18 ounce cowboy ribeye looked great through description. So my hunger was set on that. As the waitress arrived to take our order we went ahead and ordered two drinks; a sweet tea without a lemon and a soda water. My girlfriend said no lemon. She repeated "without a lemon?" Yes, My girlfriend replied. The tea came WITH a lemon. She then began to take our order. I ordered the 18 ounce bone in cowboy Ribeye, medium rare of course. With a side of asparagus and the "all you can eat" salad bar. My date ordered a C.A.B sirloin, a side of macaroni and cheese and a soup to go which was a French onion soup. After 10 minutes, the waitress finally brings me my salad plate; my one and only plate for the salad bar. I walked to the salad bar which looked really good and made myself a salad. I sat down to eat my salad, as a waitress came by to pick up my empty plate she asked me if I would like A1 sauce or Heinz 57 for my steak. Right then I knew my taste buds were in for a surprise. You should not offer steak sauce if you know your steak is going to taste great. After I said no thank you she grabbed my salad plate after one trip to the salad bar and did not offer me another plate. Shortly after our food finally arrived. Well.....the asparagus was overcooked and mushy. I should've asked for A1 sauce because the 18 ounce cowboy ribeye had no flavor and I actually had to add salt, which I never do. My girlfriend's mac & cheese tasted like kraft mac & cheese. After cutting through my ribeye I ended up with 8 ounces of edible meat and the rest was mainly fat and bone. About 5 ounces of fat to be exact. About 3 ounces for the bone and the rest was lost during cooking (which is normal). Not to mention this choice grade steak was $30. While cutting the fat off the steak we both had to waive our hand to get the flies away. Why are there flies in a dining room? The waitress checked on us twice the whole time we were there. As the waitress asked us if we wanted dessert she brought us our French onion soup to go. A little too early for this don't you think? Well the French onion soup to-go had the bread and cheese already on top of it. WRONG! You put the cheese on the bread in a separate container for the customer to assemble when they get home. Also, you are to explain to the customer how to reheat and assemble as the customer is not a chef. Come to think of it, I don't think anybody that works in the kitchen at this place is.
