Placed an online order, part of which was missing and cold. I called and asked for the missing food to be refunded and was told no they couldn't. On top of it all, it appears they just completely missed our online order, and we spent 40 minutes waiting, it was 25 minutes past the projected time frame to pick it up. Very poor customer service. Are you kidding? How did I miss this fantastic place? In my quest for the definitive fantastic Eggs Benedict I have sampled many many of Bellingham's breakfast menu cafes. Trust, this hollandaise is real, it doesn't sit under a heat lamp and the fresh lemon doesn't lie. This is a place where the room is smaller, but the portions are larger. Name any breakfast or lunch item, pancakes , waffles, club sandwiches and burgers, they make them and they all looked good, and the orders my guests placed were enjoyed and appreciated. Moderately priced , clean and bright, abundant parking options, I was astounded I hadn't heard about it, or read about it touted as a great place to go. What a gem. Still a pretty good place for morning brunch on a trip to bellingham but not QIUTE as amazing as I seemed to remember. We ordered their benedict again which was again delicious with a nice pile of salmon, perfectly poached eggs topped with a thick and delicious hollandaise. We also ordered hoppel poppel which was essentially bacon, cheese and potatoes scrambled together. Although it sounded good and tasted quite good with the cheese on top, there were way too many potatoes in proportion to the other ingredients making it a very carb heavy and not-very-eggy dish. We also got their trattoria frittata which had sausage and other veggies baked with eggs. It was topped with plenty of cheese again but was overall a bit dry. Finally, we got the ole'twosie which came with two pieces of their french toast, sausage, and one egg. This was a nice portion for the price and the french toast was good but missing that orange zing that I remembered. The egg was a little bit oily and the sausage was nothing special. Overall, the Benedict was still great and Daisy cafe remains a good choice for brunch in bellingham. read more

I've been here twice - once with work friends, once with family. The food is good, they are often crowded, but the waitstaff is friendly and attentive. It's nothing fancy, but hearty food and plenty of it. The Tony's Coffee is particularly good, and I like eating on the left side which is the interior of another building with a fountain. Getting a cooling rack with a key attached to use the restroom is a little odd, but probably necessary given the vagrancy issues in Bellingham. Situated in the downtown of Bellingham, this cafe is another one of the local places that we visit if we're ever in town. This place has A lot of character, and service is very friendly. Food is always a hit. It's really solid breakfast food, and they have a few uniquely named items that add that charm. They have slow food and they know it, which is part of the charm. Would not go here again, servers make you feel obligated to tip before you even eat, then had to wait an hour for sub par food, with zero service. Servers make you walk to another room to get your own water, and when I asked for a refill of coffee the server rolled her eyes and then came back 10 minutes later with decaf after I asked for regular. The Daisy Cafe ushers you in with a sweet neon sign and big windows boasting happy customers. Going in for a Saturday brunch, there was only a short wait before we were seated at the counter meaning we got to see the kitchen in action! The food is fresh and fabulous, but as a sign warms, it may take a while. When dishes were served the wait was all worth while. I got the PNW Benedict and my husband got the salmon omelette. Each came with a side of potatoes (which were the only so-so part of the meal - they were fine potatoes, but left something to be desired). My husband raved about his omelette and my eggs Benedict were phenomenal! The hollandaise sauce was the perfect amount of lemony and creamy and complimented the salmon extremely well. Servers were polite and quick! So if you are okay with a bit of a wait, and fIne with a good-not-great potato side, then this would be a great brunch stop. read more

Never again. I will never eat there again. Worst service in Bellingham, a city already known for its terrible service. My wife and I ordered food when the restaurant was pretty much empty. A few more people walked in after us. Everyone got their food before us. Our food took like 45 minutes and we ordered eggs. EGGS!! No explanation was ever given. Nothing was comped. We actually had to be somewhere and thought an hour would be enough time to grab breakfast at a casual breakfast joint that wasn't busy that day. Nope. We actually had to walk out with our food in our hands because most of our hour was spent waiting for eggs. (These cook in 2 or 3 minutes, by the way) Not sure if our server forgot to place our order, or if the cooks lost our order, but nobody seemed to care that we hadn't gotten our food. The server even seemed snippy. She should have been begging for forgiveness. But, instead she just didn't care. I could have waited for 35 minutes and then gone in the kitchen and made my own food and had it out faster. If they were slammed, that would have been one thing. But on a slow day, they really shouldn't have let our entire order slip through the cracks. It just shows that they don't care. Needless to say, we didn't tip at all. read more

Pretty standard breakfast fare in a cute little space in downtown Bham. I've had both good and just ok meals at The Daisy Café, but I do love ambiance. The service is always friendly and accommodating given the usual wait to be seated. Having an espresso machine in house saves me an extra coffee trip in the morning - major plus! I enjoy the eggs benedict, which you can have with your choice smoked salmon or ham. They also have your typical egg+protein+toast breakfasts and a whole page on their menu with choices of three egg omelets and frittatas in the $8-10 price range. The pancakes are definitely my favorite thing I've tried. I wouldn't say they use any special ingredients, but they're consistently good! On my most recent trip I had a very skimpy portion of roasted potatoes served with my eggs benedict. It wasn't worth fussing about, but noticeable nonetheless. read more

The omelets are fantastic with REAL cheddar cheese - white and sharp (not mild and orange) how it should be. One of Bellingham's best breakfast restaurants. Best pancakes in town. Best Ham and Cheddar Omelet in town (they use vermont cheddar!). They do a great job with all the classics, which is what I am usually after (your pancakes, your french toast, your biscuits and gravy) but they also have a pretty extensive menu with creative scrambles and frittatas and all sorts of fancier dishes if that's your thing. You can usually find a seat without any trouble. Gets busy on the weekends, but I suppose that's true everywhere. read more

So we had a few big issues while dining here. We arrived around 12 and my wife ordered pancakes with eggs while I ordered the Magnolia burger with chips. At first I thought they were calling French fries chips, but to my surprise they were indeed regular potato chips on the plate. It was my mistake though, so I didn't complain about it. However, the chips were almost completely stale and I could not eat them. The burger was ok, not bad but not great. The beef in the patty didn't hold together very well and the burger kept sliding out of the bun. The bacon was tasty. The real issue has to do with the service. The tables are small and prone to vibration. My wife's fork fell off her plate and onto the floor. After a few minutes of unsuccessfully trying to make eye contact I started waving my hands in the air trying to flag someone down. For whatever reason, none of the staff would look our way. After a few minutes the waitress visiting the table next to ours came by and we were able to get a new fork. This was not the biggest issue though. After the issue with the fork was resolved I tried the chips and found them inedible. I finished eating the burger and left the chips on my plate, hoping to catch the waitress when she checked in on us. This did not happen. She swing by after my wife finished her meal and dumped off the check without so much as a word about my plate half full and uneaten and whisked off before I could open my mouth. I say there for a few minutes getting more frustrated when we realized that was the last we would see of her and the check required going to the register to pay. We waited a good 5 minutes before I walked up to the register to voice my complaint. When I walked up I was firm and controlled despite being upset and I let the waitress know that the chips were stale and that I was upset she hadn't checked in on us to see how we were doing. She seemed rather taken aback and remarked that she had visited our table several times, then asked what she could do to make it right. Without really waiting for me to answer she offered to take my meal off the bill and then said she would make it right. I was frustrated because what I wanted was a side I could eat, but with her taking the meal off and being upset I figured I would just get something somewhere else. At this point I returned to my table. A short minute later she came by with the new check and asked (with some attitude) if there was anything else she needed to do to make it right. Feeling rather peeved by this point I said an apology would be nice. Up until this point she had not once apologized or accepted responsibility and it was aggravating. She responded in shock and said "Fine I'm sorry." Then angrily continuing saying I shouldn't talk to her as if she were 2. Seriously I felt like I was dealing with a misbehaving teenager who refused to take responsibility for herself or her job in customer service. I later asked my wife if I had done wrong in the way I spoke to the waitress and she reaffirmed that I was being calm, had a little attitude that was paired with the waitress'. All in all the breakfast seems decent food, not so much for lunch. But if something goes wrong don't expect good customer service. That is where this place really isn't that great. read more

My family, which includes 3 picky-but-always-hungry teenage boys, were on a road trip from Seattle to BC for skiing and found this spot for breakfast. It was so good they insisted we timed our trip back so we could stop here for lunch (or a late breakfast for one of them). I still haven't found a breakfast joint I adore near my home in North Seattle. If I lived in Bellingham, this would be it. I loved the home fries. The orange french toast was a huge hit with two of the kids and my husband. Great coffee. It's about a mile off of I-5, but a worthy stop. Even more worthy if you live nearby. read more

Wow, what a disappointment. Unacknowledged for the first five minutes we were there, then we were just told to go find our seats out in the "Atrium". The server took 10 minutes to come ask what we wanted, and another 10 minutes before she brought our cups of coffee. The coffee was terrible, but it gave us something to drink while we waited another 20 minutes for our food. Half of our table got their food, while the others had to wait 5 minutes until the rest was brought out. The only saving grace was that the food was pretty good, with the exception of the potatoes. When going to a restaurant for breakfast, I expect more than mushy Russet potatoes in a bit of oil. There are many, many better places in Bellingham for breakfast. read more

Last evenings drunken shenanigans demanded stomachs to be filled--the Daisy Cafe seemed the logical choice. The four men arrived at its peak hour of rush (11:35 AM), anticipating the wait. Examining the raving reviews on Yelp, they agreed to stay and await a seat. 40 mins passed before the four were granted permission to sit, their hands rushing at the menu, their eyes tentatively scanning the words. With orders received and coffee provided, the men waited, their friendly banter rising above the roar of the customers around, a conversation on movie nominees and LOTR. Patiently they waited, anticipating, savoring the meal to come. The thought of eggs, bacon, golden cubed potatoes and pancakes a cheery thought. Thus, they waited, eager. But the meal did not come. No poached eggs on English muffins arrived. No salted, peppered golden potatoes greeted them. No crispy, juicy bacon tickled their nose. And no hot pancakes ready to be soaked in maple syrup came to bring a smile. Like fools they clung to hope, hoping, praying for salvation. But salvation did not come. Instead, the stranded men at their table waited, sipping the already cold coffee, looking to the passing waiters and waitresses for some sign of the meal to come. Such was not to be, however, as the marooned men at the table clasped their faltering hearts like fools. And so they waited. And waited. Waiting till they could nearly wait no more. An unanimous decision was made: should the meal not come, should it be denied to those who were delayed, a request for the bill of the coffee would be made and the men would finally leave their table, forever disappointed and intent on never returning. Then, salvation: plates of hot, delicious food arrived to the hungry men of their small table. Joy overtook them as the aroma of the meal reached their nostrils, their mouths salivating as their eyes gazed upon the portions laid out. As the plates set down, the men grabbed fork and knife and tackled the food before them. Like ravenous wolves they devoured the meal, leaving little to no trace of what had arrived to them. Such was the level of their hunger. BUT THIS WAS NOT TO BE. Having waited for over an hour, the busy rush hour passed and with no update on the meal to come, when the meal was raised to and placed upon the table, the men had already lost all hope. The joyous desire to eat was gone, extinguished. The taste buds that made the mouth wet at the thought of food were now dry. Eyes that were alive were now dull. The meal eaten was done slowly, methodically, painstakingly without the reaction of love and joy expected by the chefs. And so, as the men finished their meal and paid their due, a heavy sigh was let out as the four men looked at one another, nodding in agreement: a second trip to the Daisy Cafe would not be made. A thorough tale of this adventure would be recorded and set in stone for all to read, a foreboding, a warning for future generations. They came for the meal. They left with a Smarties. We've been here twice. The first time was an okay experience. Okay food, okay service. Second time around was awful. I'm not sure what our server's problem was that day, but whatever it was, she took it out on everybody. Even her co-workers! Horrible customer service! She just didn't do her job. A couple ended up leaving because they got sat with menus and were ignored for twenty minutes after that. It wasn't even busy! We kept having to ask a different server for coffee, utensils, napkins, etc. And whenever she did show up, she was rude. A complete stink face! Anyway, onto the food... The food in general is just okay. We ordered the Eggs Benedict. Eh. I've had better. But if you're hungry and are willing to see past mediocre service than Daisy Cafe is the place for you. I guess. My main reason for not going back is because of the bad service. Having been a server, I know what it's like and sometimes you have bad days but if you work in customer service, put your stink face away, smile and give your best. I adore this place! We went after my nephews football game on Saturday morning, so the place was packed. The service was incredibly slow, BUT the ambiance and the relaxed nature of Cafe made the time pass with lots of conversation - which is always good when family is around. It did take about 15 minutes for us to get acknowledged by our server, and another 10 or so to get drinks ordered...and then another 10 to actually GET the drinks. (Avoid "rush hour") However, make sure you go hungry, the food is delicious and filling - definitely worth the wait! We got the Great Northwest Benedict - don't change a thing! To start this off I have frequented this restaurant for over 5 years. Been executive chef of 6 professional kitchens and restaurants and in the past been very impressed by there level of service and breakfast culinary expertise until now. There owner needs to reevaluate hiring very thoroughly. Our experience began with open tables dirty which our inattentive servers ushered us toward after they ignored us for 10 mins did not look or acknowledge that we were there or even a.will be with you in just a minute. Just ignoring. One server short haired server obviously had no clue what was happening. Watched her walk in circles looking confused for over an hour well running food to wrong tables. After you receive your coffee another 15 mins after being seated are never asked about top ups or any refills of coffee or cream for which there is no silver wear or spoons on the table to stir coffee or so.. another trait of laziness and inexperience. For water which comes standard by any server at any restaurant on your table you have to leave said restaurant walk into the coffee shop and por it warm with no ice awaiting. Food arrives cinnamon orange French toast has nothing to do with orange or cinnamon. Just burnt inedible crunchy egg dipped bread with basic syrup. Potatoes for hoppel popped crunchy. No seasoning or flavor. This place use to be amazing but there owner seriously needs to rethink hiring of chefs and servers immediately or it will go into the ground quickly. I ordered food with field roast in it and received sausage meat, which I ate thinking it was field roast. When I asked the waitress if it was field roast she told me that there were "two kinds of field roast" and that it was somehow my fault I didn't order the vegan one. All field roast is plant based, and the restaurant didn't own up to their mistake or apologize until I told the kitchen staff. I also had to ask for a refund but they only refunded my meal and offered nothing. Now I am sick to my stomach from eating meat after two years of being vegetarian. read more

A group of 6 of us (4 adults, 2 children) came here for breakfast yesterday. Two of the people in our party frequent this place regularly, so they chose it. I looked up reviews before we went, and was a bit skeptical of what our experience would be like, since reviews were very mixed. Needless to say, we didn't experience any of the recent problems that others have had -- our food was great, our server was wonderful, and everything else was fine. For what we ordered, everything was tasty and cooked well. My mocha latte was excellent. My kids split a plate of 3 blueberry pancakes and there were leftovers. My husband devoured his french toast. The food here seems a bit pricier than some other breakfast places, that would be the only downside. I also would suggest some crayons and paper for the little ones. First off, I have been looking for this restaurant in Seattle...not this exact restaurant, but the general idea of this restaurant. Somewhere that is a full cafe, with real food, not just a bagel and a pastry, and yet casual enough that I don't feel weird doing some writing and surfing the web. I was hungry for eggs and potatoes this morning. Really hungry. They have a great menu with lots of breakfast choices. I hemmed and hawed for a bit, and then asked if I could just get 2 scrambled eggs and a side of potatoes. Done. My order took a little bit, since they put on fresh potatoes for me, and I did the crossword puzzle from the weekly whatever newspaper, and drank coffee. This place is so casual and awesome that the waitress and other patron chit-chat while she is behind the register. Same with me- friendly updates on my order every 5 minutes or so. Out came the order with scrambled eggs (suspiciously looked like 3 eggs) and a huge order of red potatoes. As I chowed down, all I could think was this would be any man's dream meal, as it was plentiful and tasty. The eggs were fluffy, the potatoes tasted just like my mom makes. (Seriously, no joke). Men of America: eat here. All I could think of was, why aren't more men in here? Seriously, every man I know would probably sneak out on a "break" to eat here for the large portions. Check time: due to me having to wait, they took off my coffee- which doesn't sound like much but get this: coffee is normally $2. My eggs were $2.50 and the potatoes $3.50 which means I had a huge breakfast for about $6. It was pretty awesome. Coffee is tasty too. They have a lot of menu items to choose from, (can substitute veggie Harvest sausages for meat) and service is fast and pleasant. Don't go to an IHOP chain; eat here if you are in town. read more
