I've heard so many great things about this place and I was excited and surprised by my husband with reservations for my birthday. Upon arrival you can tell this is a very loved and established location. There was a bustling indoors and we requested to sit outdoors as the weather was beautiful. We were greeted promptly and presenting menus and offered drinks. We requested water as well. My husband went with the large, cut a prime rib with the mashed potatoes and spinach. The mashed potatoes were the best I've ever had! I felt like the prime rib had a little bit of something missing, my husband agreed. I went with their seafood cioppino, which was absolutely amazing. I have to say this cioppino rival that of Tadish Grill in San Francisco the oldest restaurant in California. We shared the appetizer of calamari, which was perfectly seasoned and lightly fried. We also ordered a side of bread which was very fresh. Could use a little bit better butter. We also shared a beet salad, which I think was a little bit too watery for my liking. It had balsamic vinaigrette and blue cheese, which was a nice touch. Overall, this was a great dinner, and I can see why this is a local favorite. It's always a nice time because we don't have to go so far, but the dead fish is looking up in regard to the menu! They have several new things on the menu, one of them being the whole fried fish. This is a do over. The cook on the fish is perfection and it reminds me of eating at a back door, Mexican joint where they cook the fish whole. Steaming, hot and delicious. Provided great and elaborate information about the menu. Service: 100/10 Appetizers: We ordered the small size calamari (perfect for two) and the dish was great! The fried onions and the jalapeños as a garnish were a great accent to the plate. The dish also came with a fantastic cocktail sauce that you must try! Although, I saved the best for last...the shrimp and mussels skillet...WOW. The shrimp was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of seasoning and herbs and the mussels tasted so fresh -- and I'm not a huge fan of mussels, but these were great! We also got some Epi bread right in the beginning as we ordered and they were nice and warm and came out fast by Brianna! We were so hungry and needed a quick bite before the feast! She was our lord and savior! Entrees: I did some yelp searching and saw a lot of good reviews on the rib eye steak so I felt like it was a no brainer and ordered it! The ribeye was cooked to perfection...medium rare just how I like it! The dish also came with mashed potatoes and a side of a sort of spinach dip? The mash potatoes were so good and had a good amount of butter and garlic. However, the spinach side was a disappointing...the side was missing heat. It was cold when served to me. Also maybe missing some flavor. I don't know I just felt like it was very lackluster, but everyone's tastebuds are different. I was just disappointed because I was really looking forward to this side dish. My partner got the crab lasagna, this dish was different. He said he enjoyed it...but I just think he was too scared to say it was nothing special and send it back to put it blunt. Definitely a really good take on redefining a lasagna and adding crab to it...I just don't know if I would order it again. It's like something you try and said you did it, but maybe not again? It was interesting. ENTREES: 8/10 For dessert, as a complimentary dessert we got some kind of white chocolate fudge cake with whip cream and chocolate drizzle that had to be some of the best birthday desserts...so rich! in the best way possible. Highly recommend birthday dinners just for this dessert. Dessert: 10/10 We also go such nice seating on the patio. We overlooked the bridge and saw the water and a little sunset view. Our reservation was at 7pm so perfect for just a little sunset and some time in the nighttime sky as the moon reflected on the water. So beautiful outside and hope you can also get seating out there as well! I would also like to comment on the free corkage fee! What a great amenity! Why add $30+ dollars for a beverage or 2 when I can just bring a bottle of wine of my liking and spend $20 and get 6+ glasses...I almost brought two bottles haha...Next time! We'd never heard of the dead fish until recently despite its popularity. Our server, Jessica, was amazing. She was so friendly and attentive and went out of her way to make sure we didn't need anything. We sat by the window and the water views are stunning. We ordered the large calamari which was definitely excessive for two people. We also tried the crab Angel hair lasagna which was so unique. It's very rich and heavy so I'd recommend splitting it with a lighter entree, however, it's worth ordering. We also ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with crab which was a bit lighter and not super saucy. They didn't skimp on the crab either and all the seafood tasted fresh. For dessert we split the chocolate mousse bomb which had a nice crunchy texture to it. We arrived about 30 minutes after they opened as walk-ins and were fortunate enough to be sat right away. We chose our booth and loved the chill and bright vibe of the dining room. We started with drinks: Fish Breath, a lemon drop and the sangria and they were all refreshing. Then our appetizers were the crostini (absolutely divine), a small calamari and bruschetta. Our meals and drinks came out so quickly and our server was very patient. For our entrées, we had the salmon in spicy cioppino sauce, garlic noodles with crab and Alfredo. The meals weren't as tasty as we thought they would be, but our server was kind enough to bring us Tabasco, extra garlic sauce/oil, Alfredo sauce and parmesan. I was really impressed with the decor and the view! It's like nautical meets old hollywood which is so my vibe, I was pretty excited to try this spot. I think this place is leaning into the decor and location more than the quality of the food. I think that they cater to an older crowd, the options are dated and limited and sorry but for the quality overpriced. Im sad to say that we did not enjoy anything we ordered. We started with a bloody Mary and a mojito, both were watered down and served without straws to stir. The bloody Mary was particularly a let down, it was in a wine glass that looked half filled with water and tasted like a whole bottle or worcester sauce. Next was calamari that was just nothing special. Then we shared a caesar salad and the blqck linguini chiopino. The caesar was also nothing special. When I asked the waiter if it had anchovy he said no, for a fish house that surprised me but I decided to try it anyway. The linguine was good but overall it was again nothing special. 2 crablegs, a few salmon chunks that tasted fishy and some clams/mussels that were just kind of whatevs. We decided to order some bread and had to ask twice for it. The bread was hard and stale. By now the Yellowjacket's were starting to swarm us and we just wanted to get outta there. Our waiter was nice but really didn't do a good job of describing the food or selling us on anything particular. I hate leaving negative reviews! A dozen oysters costs 50$ here lmao. Been here a few times and luv the outdoor view. I can't say the food was great and memorable. First time we tried this place they had the bread in a basket, but 2nd time back it was just wrapped in paper which I didn't think was an ideal way to serve bread. It seemed cheap and paper can easily get wet and dirty and leak into the bread when there's a bunch of other food items and drinks on the table. Majority of the people I went to dinner with ordered the black seafood pasta and it was not bad. I had the salmon with garlic lemon caper sauce that tasted ok and didn't feel satisfied. One of my colleagues ordered the prime rib and he said it was bland. Perhaps other dishes are tasty and it's a hit or miss. When we ordered dessert, most of us got the cheesecake and it tasted more like a cake and nothing close to a cheesecake. The raw oysters were good but only served with the vinegar sauce so we had to ask for Tabasco and cocktail sauce. read more

Why put lettuce in an enchilada? Mexican rice would have been better, if a filler is needed at all. Needed more crab. Chef changed garlic noodles by adding sun dried tomato sauce. Ruined the flavor of the crab. Yuck. Please go back to original recipe or won't be ordering that again. Came in for a early dinner. We were sat in the bar area. It was very noisy with a large group enjoying drinks. We have been coming here for years. The menu prices, and portion sizes, are the only thing that have changed over time. The food is decent, sometimes overcooked, especially the crab, which only comes marinated. Our favorite dish, the crab crustini, has now doubled in cost. The views of the bay are amazing from the patio at this restaurant. The interior views are not as great. The decore is very outdated and parts of the floor are uneven. Wood rot? Parking by the entrance is a nightmare and hard to obtain. There are a couple of other lots, but it is a small uphill walk from both, so drop of at front is needed for any customers not able to walk up the hill. read more

Celebrated my birthday with a Sunday Lunch. Sat outside under the tent. It felt like the heaters were on but the staff explained it's the tent cover trapping the heat in (black color absorbing the noon time heat). Despite the weather being a clear day and a good view the trapped heat was not comfortable (one ceiling fan to circulate the heat around). Service was ok, our table and several other tables kept having to look for our waitress (a large party asked to move inside and she spent a lot of time with them) which meant drinks were not refilled or even brought out and we had to ask the runners for assistance. The food was good for the occasion, but not something I would say yes I'd like to eat here again and often because I feel like it's a hit or miss. read more

The atmosphere was great, but the service was a C--long wait times and the server wasn't particularly friendly. Spaces are tight. I'm quite picky where I park. Their main parking lot is not so bad. We did not get the opportunity to sit next to the window, but could have easily pushed for it. Sitting at a booth was just fine. Best for a private conversation and the view of the Carquinez Strait was spectacular. Did not plan ahead on what I wanted to try. However, I was glad to learn they served Prime Rib! I enjoyed it and would order again. My date of whom the birthday celebration is for, ordered their Cioppino and enjoyed it as well. She also added that her Martini gave her a buzz. It must have been good! =) They did provide a complimentary birthday cake which was nice of them. I left the Dead Fish on a good note. We went on a road trip this weekend and wanted to stop and have dinner before we headed home. The name of the restaurant peaked our interest so we went in! The decor was eclectic and fun! There were all kinds of things hanging from the ceiling. There were binoculars at each table so that you could look out the window! From the windows there is a stunning view of the Carquinez Bridge. If you are near the town of Crockett (charming town), you must plan to eat on the hill at "DEAD FISH." Crazy name but it has a story. Your eyes are drawn to the festive exterior as you arrive. Parking is limited so get there before the rush. Plenty of parking near it though. When we arrived the place was off the hook busy being Valentines day. All the employees were jammed multi-tasking. I told my wife no waiting if we head over to the bar. We were early enough. We had barely sat down at the bar when Sylvia came up with a huge smile, and started our order. Everything here is so delish. It was raining out so it was nice to be at our favorite romantic place dry and warm. So, it was definitely a day for perfect BOWL of Clam Chowder. Thick, white, with lots of clam, and potatoes. Also some amazing Cheezy Garlic Bread made with melted raw milk white cheddar cheese to dredge the chowder with. We also ordered the Crab Crostini with a nice pile of crab on smoked salmon and avocado with evoo drizzle. I washed it down with the 805 Ale featured on draft. I must mention that I finished off the meal with their caramel cake, which is a special on the menu. You have to look for it . If I ever went to this place for no other reason, I would go there just for that cake and it is absolutely delicious and I get real greedy and I don't even feel like sharing when I have it I warn people to order their own . I would say for me, it's sort of like my sweet tooth heaven. Even And ... I was with the love of my life on ValDay. PERFECT. This is our go to place and anything we order is always the highest flavor and standard. The staff, even when slammed, are always gracious. The views from the dining room are million dollar views. I strongly recommend making a reservation, and if possible arrive in the tween-times so it won't be so crowded. If you go early on a cold day b-line straight to the fireplace tables if window seats are not available. . It's crazy busy on holidays. If its night, and beautiful warm weather outside, get a table outside. OMG ... the views. Inside its the same but try and reserve a window table. Day views are perfect. Great food and excellent service! We came on Valentine's Day for a double date to celebrate me and my husband's 17th wedding anniversary and my parents' 70th and 71st birthdays. We were seated immediately, 15 minutes before our reserved time. The music was great! We all enjoyed our food - branzino, crab lasagna, crab louie salad, sizzling combo, clam chowder.
