Well.. we can start with the parking. Very small lot with lots of people circling over and over. After my first circle I promptly exited to find street parking. Walking through the lot to enter felt like a game of dodging cars that were circling like vultures trying to find a spot. I was very grateful I didn't have my kids with me. The restaurant itself is quite loud. We had the "side room" which was still quite open and very loud. Not a good choice for my book club to have any discussion. (That is no fault of The Delaware, that was poor planning on our book club) The menu was small and unimpressive. Not good for vegetarians. I thought I'd order the veggie burger but was informed it was not homemade and I didn't want to spend over $12 bucks for a frozen thing I could buy at the grocery store. In the end I just ordered chips and dip and a beer. The description of the chips and dip was simply "chips and dip" I was really surprised to find that the dip was extremely spicy. So spicy I couldn't eat it. So I just ate the chips. Our waiter was flighty in and out but not often enough and never around when we needed him. Service from the kitchen was slow. There was a huge amount of time between apps and entrees coming out. My friend ordered the Mac and cheese and it wasn't hot when it arrived at our table. This is a great little place to go for a change. They have a bar in the middle to grab drinks while you wait for a table. The staff was friendly and always making sure we had everything we needed. The menu is unique with common food but with their own little spin on things. We started with the stuffed pepper soup which had the right kick to it. Then we had the asparagus fries which was crispy and amazing and the dipping sauces were great! We were stuffed but had the meals coming. We got the pretzelweck burger which was flavorful and piled high. The The pastrami rueben was huge and had so much ooey gooey cheese on it. The grain bowl with shrimp was great and the shrimp were huge. We will be back to try more of the menu and brig our friends to enjoy this gem of a restaurant. read more

Love it!! The bosses took the office staff for a thank you lunch. We got a semi private room so the noise level was great. Our server was a sweetie and gave us ample privacy. (I would have liked her to come back a little more for water, but it's ok). I had the turkey sandwich and coleslaw. The cranberry chutney on the sandwich was amazing. We enjoyed a nice girl's night out here and enjoyed listening to the live band, though we were glad to be tucked away a little bit in the back so we could still hear our conversation. My guests all really loved their meals, especially the gorgonzola chicken with balsamic. That got rave reviews. Our low-carb guest appreciated that she could sub out the mashed potatoes that came with her chicken dish and get a side salad without an extra charge. And it was a really beautiful side salad with mixed greens and a decent portion size. (Note to ownership: can you tweak your menu to show that there ARE sides included with your main entrees? Our poor waitress had to explain what was included with EACH dish. Wouldn't it be much easier to print it on your menu?) I have to say, though, their french onion soup was one of the worst I've ever had. It didn't have that deep, carmelized onion taste... instead, it was more like a bowl of beef broth with some onions in it. I was very disappointed. Plus, the bread added nothing to the dish and the cheese was super chewy (and not all that much of it, either). I had a great meal at the Delaware this past Saturday night. I called ahead and made a reservation but it was not overly crowded. We had a very comfortable booth near the bar where we could watch the Sabres game. The food there is delicious. I think their wings are some of the best around, we ordered hot, the sauce was tasty and spicy but not crazy hot. For dinner i had the Pork chop with blue cheese spaetzel and bacon glaze. It came recommended from our server. It was tender juicy and a great portion. I also enjoyed the unique spaetzel with blue cheese. My friend had the everything crusted salmon and loved it as well, it came with saffron rice which was the selling point. The cocktail menu had some fun drinks on it, i went with the Moscow Mule, it was great and reasonably priced, 8 dollars versus the trend in many resstaurants now to charge 10-12 dollars for a drink which really turns me off. The service was great all night, our waitress Shannon gave recommendations, checked on our drinks through out the night and always had a big pretty smile on her face. I will be coming back more often to check out some of the cool looking burgers and sandwiches on the menu. And of course the wings. read more

We ventured out to The Delaware on a cold, snowy night, and we were hoping for a great dinner. We pulled into the parking lot and it was packed! We were very glad that we had made reservations earlier in the week for the four of us. When we checked in, we were asked if we had requested to sit upstairs. As this was our first time here, we did not, and we were pleased that was the case because we were seated on the first floor in the corner so that we could people watch and still hear each other. I would recommend sitting on the first (ground) floor since there is activity with the bar and lots of people. If you want a quieter evening, then the second floor is for you. Our waitress was very chatty and helpful in deciding what to order. We tried their fun cocktails and everyone had something different. We ordered the meatloaf, the tot poutine (which I could go on about for days!), the schniztzel special, the fried chicken and waffles, and finally their chicken wings that they are known for; with their rootbeer BBQ sauce. We were all very pleased with our meals and thought they were done exceptionally well. Between the great drinks and unique offerings for dinner choices, we all left rolling out the front door. For the four of us the bill came to almost $200, but I think that was because of the fancy cocktails. Most entrees range between $10-$20. I would definitely recommend checking this out for dinner - but make reservations. I want to go back for lunch on the weekend in the near future. read more

Came on a Saturday afternoon. It was very quiet, probably only 4 cars in the parking lot. I read that as a bad sign...but things are not as they seem. First, the restaurant itself is beautiful! It's modern and chic, industrial with wood and riveting. The bar has a TV, which was playing the Sabres game (mostly disappointing) but let me tell you, the food was great! Water glasses were refilled often, which was great. We ordered the pretzels with beer cheese sauce which comes out crazy hot. You may want to dig in right away, give yourself a second first. Salty, chewy dough dipped into cheese that also has booze...please help, it was so good. Two of us ordered the chicken waffle sandwich and the third in my group ordered the Ton I wanna burger with pulled pork. Everything was amazing. We didn't order any sides because of the carb-y starter but I'm sure it all would have been great! I stopped in on Sunday night with my mom and boyfriend. We were coming from a show at KeyBank Center and we tried to find a compromise of somewhere "hip" for me but not too "weird" for my mom and stepdad, who ended up staying home. Once we got to the restaurant, I wasn't expecting much from the outside and given that we were in Tonawanda. Once we got inside, I was surprised how modern the restaurant was. We were seated quickly and service was prompt. After we were seated, many people people came in after us. My boyfriend and I split the chicken and waffles and the pretzelweck burger. My mom had a turkey sandwich. I tried to chips and dip, which was a French onion style dip with sriracha that my mom was crazy about. The chicken and waffles was good, but I was underimpressed with the maple syrup served alongside. Tasted like Aunt Jemima's. the sides were all huge. I enjoyed the chicken and waffles the best. Nice and crispy. The burger ended up a little mushy by the time I got to it. All of the toppings were cooked so there wasn't much variety of texture. People really need to start hitting the brunch here - it's one of the best brunches around. We were there for Father's Day at around 1 p.m. and the place was nearly empty. For starters, the gourmet coffee, mimosa and Bloody Mary menu is unique - and all the drinks are solid. The Maple Bourbon Coffee was a particular favorite of our group. If you want to order off menu, the bar is more than happy to make the cocktail of your choice - I had a well-made Italian 75 myself. There are several great food choices - the stuffed crispy French toast is insanely delicious. The rich sweetness of the Nutella spread combines well with the bananas, but the crunch provided by the corn flake crust takes it to another level. Best French toast I've ever had. The corn cakes Benny is another recommended choice - if you like an eggs Benedict, you probably like your egg runny, and their sous vide eggs come out perfect. Finally, for those who like a little spice with their brunch, the Korean breakfast packs a powerful punch. Not for the faint of heart (or taste buds), but those who love heat will be well rewarded. I recently had food to go (so I can't review dining in) and found the meal to be average. I ordered the hamburger on a pretzel bun and fries. The bun was burnt so I ended up removing it and just eating the hamburger. It was a good size and average tasting. The fries were also just average fries. We arrived expecting the "simple food at a reasonable price" that lots of previous yelpers have alluded to... and found an entirely new, "summer" menu. My dinnermate ordered the cheesy pig - a pulled pork sandwich with cheese AND mac&cheese on it, along with a generous portion of fries. She enjoyed it! I went with a dinner plate, the rum chicken. While the plate was full, it was filled mostly with a poorly cooked & under-seasoned pink basmati, which while pretty was not enjoyable at all and was left on the plate. The portion of chicken, considering it was a dinner, was surprisingly small (even my companion commented on the small size - looked more like a small sandwich sized piece) but was seasoned well with brown sugar & marmalade and cooked very well. The accompanying veggies were also good. All in all, it wasn't worth the extra $6 as compared to a sandwich. They were rolling out a new summer drink menu as well which was not available in print but our waitress described a few for us - my fav was the spicy cucumber mojito! After receiving our meal, though, and again after a brief appearance to deliver the check, the waitress all but disappeared and left our water glasses empty. She was friendly and knowledgeable. I've been to the Delaware a few times now. The atmosphere is nice especially in the spring and summer when the patio is open. The servers are great and the prices are also good. The food- I've had the Chicken and Waffles with comes with a side. I always pick their "chips and dip". The dip is SO good and the chips are hand cut. I am craving it right now. Their Chicken and Waffles was good and came with syrup and hot sauce. It would of been better with thinner cut chicken and crispier waffle. I've also had the Gorgonzola Chicken. That was my favorite. It comes with two chicken cutlets with a roasted garlic crust topped with Gorgonzola and a balsamic glaze on perfectly done mashed potatoes and blanched green beans. I've also had their fish fry which is good but most of Buffalo fish fries are. Nothing special. I've had plenty of apps as well but I'll rate these: The crispy asparagus 4/5, pretzel with beer cheese 3/5, and the rarebit 3/5. All in all, good food at a nice neighborhood establishment. The Delaware is a spot I frequent pretty often with both friends and family, and it never disappoints. The menu is lengthy and has options for all types of diets and food preferences. The prices are very good. I dined with a friend here last night and we both ordered salmon grain bowls, sweet potato fries, a salmon burger with fries for her husband to-go, and cheesecake pops. Our total for all of that was only $62.00 - a steal! The portions are also pretty big so you get a lot of bang for your buck. The staff is nice and attentive and it doesn't take too long to get seated. We went during happy hour and the bar was packed. We came at the right time to get a table, too because once we were sat it really started to get busy. I would recommend this restaurant for a night out with friends, a date night, or even a get-together with family. Just a tip: if you want to take advantage of the happy hour specials, you need to be sitting at the bar. read more

Our group had the devilled eggs, shrimp cocktail, and the asparagus fries along with some delicious and flavourful sangrias, mojitos, and martinis (see photos). This is a cool spot! I went for lunch with a friend. It was a Sunday and we were surprised it wasn't crowded. Our win, I guess! The two story dining area with an ample bar was occupied by only a dozen folks making everything seem extra cozy. Word is they host a trivia night with quiz types around the bar while dining types continue to enjoy their dining upstairs. As we sat down my friend stated he was going to do the wings as they were great. It was technically brunch, but none of the specials struck my fancy. I was stuck. I knew I was going to get a shrimp cocktail because that's basically a given for me. It's my kryptonite! As the waitress came back for our order I decided I'd figure it out as my friend ordered, but in the time it took him to say "wings, medium" I wasn't able to come up with much. The waitress was very cool and wouldn't let me rush it. She put in my shrimp cocktail and promised to come back in a minute. When she did I went with a fail safe. Cheeseburger medium rare please! It's important to note that this establishment does not make assumptions regarding your burger accoutrements. The burgers are a la carte so you can mix it up with fries or a vegetable (or whatever was offered after that as I stopped listening after deciding on the green beans). Lunch was spot on. I forgot to sample the asparagus fries which people rave about, but I'm sure I'll be back. As Buffalo warms up from the winter chill I can only imagine chomping on an order on their outdoor patio. I tried this new establishment with my brother because he promised I'd enjoy it. While I hate to admit he might be right for once, I have to agree. Walking in, it was hard to believe an ice cream shop once stood here, but now I found a bustling, modern dining room wrapped around the bar, and a loft above. On a Saturday evening, we waited at the bar for a table, and before we finished our first beer the hostess seated us. Hard surfaces abound here, so quiet conversation may be a challenge. The prices were excellent for the quality of the food and service. Not an extensive menu, but maybe that means they know what they're good at. The hanger steak was flavorful and my brother's salmon was very good. Dessert was the highlight. They offer something called "Bag o' donuts", which sounds odd but tastes wonderful. A plate appeared with a small white paper bag hiding a handful of fresh, warm nuggets rolled in powdered sugar, along with 3 small cups of chocolate sauce, raspberry jelly and boston cream. Plunge a fork into one of the round morsels, then dip it into one of the sweet accompaniments. Mmmmmm. An inside-out donut! Add a cuppa joe and my eyes rolled back into my head. If you're looking for a new place to check out, look no further than The Delaware! It's one of those places I go by often, but frequent too much. However, we have ordered a few times to go in recent weeks with the quarantine. They have a consolidated menu right now, but they execute the dishes they have well. The first time I ordered the Tot Poutine, and it is so good- I highly recommend it! The second time I ordered the Chips and Dip, and the Pretzelweck Burger. Everything was very good- the dip was fairly spicy, and the burger has a little too much sauce, but was cooked perfectly. My husband had the Handcut Pastrami on Rye both time and loves it. For me one of the drawbacks is not having burgers and sandwiches come with a side- fries and tots are separate, but they are huge portions. So perhaps it's personal preference. I also ordered a single side order of tots for my son, which they forgot. However, he just had some of my husbands. They also have cocktails to go- which are absolutely delightful! We had mojitos, and margaritas. I certainly look forward to ordering those again! read more

I was met with a rude host on my first (and last) visit into the restaurant since COVID. I called to make a reservation but was told I couldn't make a reservation for the patio, to come around noon. I did just that. The host slammed down the menus before walking me to the EMPTY patio saying "Restaurant tip for you. You have to make a reservation before coming." I told him I had tried and he repeated: "No reservations on the patio but you have to make a reservation." His demeanor was offensive and he acted like I was the confusing party. I've been slacking on writing reviews lately but our dinner was so amazing last night that I HAD to get it together for this one. We went to The Delaware for our Father's Day/birthday dinner. This was the first time I'd been and it killed me to not order their root beer bbq wings that I keep hearing people rave about. For an appetizer we got the deviled eggs and grilled goat cheese. I thought that the eggs were good but nothing crazy to rave about. LOVED the cheese and the bread was perfectly toasted. For my entree I went with the salmon over jasmine rice and green beans and I'm so glad that I did I was mesmerized by the butter melting and running off the edges. The salmon was cooked to perfection and literally melted in your mouth. Dad got the grilled sirloin which had a ton of flavor. The aioli on the potatoes caught our attention and I also really enjoyed the grilled romaine. Our server was Sarah and she took great care of us. She was probably one of the sweetest servers I've ever had as was the bartender (I didn't catch his name). The staff was wearing masks the entire time, tables were spaced apart and they didn't allow those without a mask to dine. Never been to the Delaware Pub and tried it for lunch. In a word, excellent. Our server, Emma, was friendly and sharp and throughout our stay, attentive and prompt. I ordered a wedge salad with salmon and it was delicious. My dining partner had a sandwich called the B.L.A.S.T.--other than the S is for salmon, I can't remember the rest but it was big and he finished it. All in all, a really nice meal in a pleasant atmosphere. Will absolutely visit in the future. read more

Mother's Day Brunch was a complete disaster from start to finish. We had a reservation- our table wasn't ready (they weren't that busy) People that came in after us were served 1st. We had 2 toddlers with us. No drinks for 20 minutes. People seated after us were done eating before we even got our food. Not even an offer for something for the babies to snack on while we wait an extraordinary amount of time to eat. The owner was tending bar right next to our table, observed what was happening and couldn't have cared less. The food was subpar and no special menu for Mother's Day. The food came - can't eat without silverware- another long wait. Well now it's cold. My food was served to me off of small side plates all separate. Wow really? So we've been trying to go to this place with some friends for 6 months now. Every time we make plans something thwarts them. Welp we were forced to go there today before our gift card expired so we opted for our only option...takeout. Their hours are very limited now. 4p-8p. We called at 406 and our food was ready about 35 minutes later. When we drove up we were confused as to whether we had to go in or not as there were no signs. We paused at the door to decide and the next thing we knew our food was coming out. Our drive home was about 30 min and the food held up for the most part. Over all everything was pretty good. The wrong....burger had tomatos on it despite the request for them to be off. The order was for someone with a tomato allergy and they couldnt eat it because the tomato was touching the burger meat. The green beans were practically raw. I think I may have gotten the wrong bowl. I ordered rice, the miso mushroom broth and pork. What I got was rice, veggies with no sauce and super dry chicken. Although it was delicious it tasted nothing of miso or mushrooms or pork. The tater tots must have been triple fried because they were hard super crunchy with no actual potato inside. While I loved them no one else could eat them. The good.....the meatloaf was tasty. The bowl I did get was good. The mashed potatos were excellent. The burger was cooked perfectly. The takeout process was easy. They put it in my backseat I paid out the window. Hopefully our friends and us can make it again once they are open again. read more

First time here. Nice place. The inside decor has an industrial feel which is probably the reason for the high noise level. We looked over the drink menu as waters were delivered and settled on a few wines. One of our wines were bad and our server had no problem replacing it. I appreciated the generous wine pour compared to some places I've been to. We staring with app's of Asparagus Fries and Smoked Gouda Rarebit which were VG. Our entrees of Sheppard's Pie, Caesar Salad with Salmon, Mac and Smoked Gouda with Andouille and Meatloaf came quickly. Everything was VG. I had a small group dinner party there this evening . The menu looks to be upscale casual and some pub food. I was recommended the meatloaf dinner, and it was delicious. House made mashed potatoes and perfectly sauteed green beans round it out my plate. The blue cheese wedge salad was enough to serve 2. It was delicious as well. No room for dessert, although I heard the famous dessert bag of donuts is fantastic. We'll have to plan ahead next time to fit that in. :-) I also tried the chips and dip side dish, as we buffalonians love our chips and Bison chip dip. While this dip was tasty it was a bit too spicy for me. I'd be better served with a homemade version of Bison's french onion dip. ;-) All in all a tasty venture, and I'll be going back again :-) read more

Pleasantly surprised to find the Delaware open on Labor Day when many other non-chain restaurants were closed. Dined with 3 others and had a very pleasant experience. As appetizers, we had both kinds of fried calamari (regular, served with a marinara sauce and Buffalo style) and asparagus fries. Everything was delicious! If I had to order something again, it would definitely be the Buffalo style calamari, which is served with bleu cheese. For dinner we had the chicken dish, BLAST sandwiches, and the French onion soup. The chicken dish was good, served in a nice white wine butter sauce. The BLAST - bacon, lettuce, avocado, salmon, tomato - was awesome! Was served on ciabatta bread with a ranch-like dressing. The French onion soup was also very tasty. Glad to see they use a nice piece of bread instead of croutons. The server was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu/offerings.
