Wings with old bay seasoning (upon request)

The ambiance was great with the seating being from old church pews. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. We just ordered appetizers which were very good. The cook accommodated our request of no sauce on the wings since they didn't have any dry rubs we asked if they could do old bay seasoning and they did for us.

This place has potential to be great as the location is killer. Walking distance from a playground or the river. The inside is very cute laden with antiques and drawings people have done while dining(my favorite part). Our server had great energy as well. The food however leaves much to be desired. Also a huge pet peeve is restaurants serving Kraft Mac and cheese. My thoughts on seeing the food was TV dinner-everything looked microwaved. Someone at our table ordered the ribeye medium rare and it was served with no pink. Genuinely everything looked like you would get it in a nursing home. Sorry to say but the food needs a complete overhaul. (Also, pretty sure they serve margarine instead of butter )

Dpo Chicken Tenders

Stopped by the Depot Grille after taking my littles to Amazement Square. While the service and cleanliness of the restaurant was good, the food was nothing exceptional. I got the buffalo chicken wrap and it was pretty bland. The ingredients were fresh but the chicken wasn't seasoned and they are light on the buffalo sauce. I got the butter noodles and chicken tenders for the kids and the portions were massive and overall they seemed to enjoy them. My friend got the pretzel sandwich and her only complaint was how messy it was. The food came out quick and they provided crayons and paper for the kids to keep them busy. They have a lot of options on the menu but I was not blown away by the experience.

Jake is a great server! We went to DPO both nights we were in Lynchburg. The food was delicious and the portions were large! The lynchburg lemonade tasted better than the one you get in Epcot. The chicken tenders were juicy and flavorful. The Boxcar Brownie was delicious and worth the calories. Super cool place being in an old train station, and there are even trains that go past! It does get a little noisy when it's crowded as the walls are brick with some quilts hanging from the beams, but other than that it is definitely a must try!

We've eaten here a handful of times over the past 3 or 4 years when we take our kid to Amazement Square next door. The kids menu is reasonable and they enjoy watching the trains go by. Nice historic building. Food is consistently good- nothing mind blowing. They finally fixed their parking lot- or at least filled in some of the worst holes.

Crusted Chili Chicken Dinner

Excellent food and service! We went for dinner and were happy we did. Sierra, our waitress, was amazing. She was knowledgeable of the food choices, quick to refill drinks, and great personality. Our salads arrived chilled and plentiful. The raspberry vinaigrette dressing on the house salad was so good with a thick consistency. The grilled shrimp dinner came with a choice of two sides which I got coleslaw and a baked potato. The food arrived super hot was perfectly cooked. The Crusted Chili Chicken was sweet and tender with a little spicy kick to it. I look forward to my return.

Late lunch. After hiking

We were hiking the Blackcreek Trail via Riverwalk Trail. Someone told us there was a restaurant near by. We arrived and it is BEAUTIFUL. We got so lucky. We stumble in after our 6 or 7 mile hike. The best service with great smiles and our waitress helped us look for drinks we would both liked. The strawberry cider was the best thing for my husband and I got a really nice lager. REFRESHING!!!! The decor is unique. It use to be an old train station . They show off the beautiful old brick walls and hanging from the rafters are quilts. The coolest part is all the church pews you get to sit in as you dine. That's the seating and the the places you put the hymnals is where they have the ketchup and such. They have great outside seating too. A lot of people were eating outside and taking advantage of the great weather. The Food is GREAT!!! My husband and I got 2 different meals but we split them so we can sample the wonderful food they have to offer. The Black Bean Burger with all the regular toppings and a really nice Kaiser roll. They make their own Black Bean Burger. SO it is NOT frozen. It is made FRESH right there. Really great and full of flavor with a side of guacamole. We love dipping our fries in that. The fries were awesome too. Crisp, fresh and HOT. The Southwest Chicken Wrap was filled with blackened chicken. Flavor highlights for me was the black bean and corn salsa with chipotle lime sauce. My taste buds were dancing. HAPPY DANCE. I was so happy they put the sour cream on the side. Since I can't eat sour cream. Perfect food and presentation was wonderful.

Great food. Great service. The bourbon salmon and waffle fries are great. Thai chili chicken strips are terrific.

Upscale without being stiff, comfortable without losing that polished feel. I ordered the jambalaya, and it was a standout. Well layered flavor, not overly heavy, with a nice balance of spice and richness. The proteins were cooked properly and the vegetables still had structure, which matters in a dish like that. It felt intentional, not just thrown together for a brunch menu. Across the table, the Eggs Benedict was equally strong. The hollandaise was smooth and properly seasoned, not overly lemony or thick, and the eggs were cooked right where they should be. That is often where places miss, but this one didn't. Dessert was where things really elevated. The strawberry cheesecake was clean, bright, and not overly sweet, with a good texture that held together without being dense. The chocolate Rasberry glutin-free dessert torte, was rich in the right way. Deep chocolate flavor without crossing into heavy or overwhelming. Service was attentive without hovering, and timing between courses was well paced, which is not easy on a busy holiday like Easter. Overall, this is a place that clearly pays attention to execution. Not just presentation, but flavor, balance, and consistency. That is what separates a good brunch from one you remember. We will be back.

Server wasn't much help and said she was new. Service was slow and embarrassingly bad. Our food was subpar and nothing to write home about (we didn't even take photos) - the best bite was the Thai Chili sauce Brussels. 3 out of 4 at our table had a that a veg side and everyone liked them! My wife had a the filet, which wasn't very tender. We came for dinner based on advertisement of a James Beard award winning chef. We've been to many restaurants (not in LYH) that have a James Beard award winning chef- don't be fooled this one wasn't!!!

One person in our party said her salad had the best dressing she's ever had. The fried pickles were good. The shrimp was good. One bartender was good. Cons - We walked in and basically weren't sure what to do. There was a woman at we thought was a hostess stand, but she never said anything to us. We finally asked if we needed to check in with her to get seated. We did. But it was kind of weird. One bartender was awful. Never made eye contact. Wouldn't take any orders. Acted like she wanted to be anywhere else. I thought the Caesar salad was ok. It came with lacquered salmon. I would have loved the salmon, but not lacquered. It couldn't be made to order. Ok fine. I ordered it the way it was described. There was nothing lacquered about that salmon. It also was shredded on top of the salad and was maybe two ounces. That's ridiculous. Our server wasn't very helpful and not very attentive. I'm sure many people have had great experiences there, but I'm not sure I would take the time to go back.

Abby was very attentive and came to the table frequently to check in and do refills. To start off this dining experience, we ordered the crab bites and a couple of clam chowder. First off, the clam chowder was great. It was one of their special items for the week, so it may not be available every visit. The crab bites were just okay in my opinion. The remoulade they were served with did have a good flavor though. I probably wouldn't order this appetizer again on a future visit. I've had a couple of people tell me to try the hushpuppy basket on my next visit. For the main course, I had jambalaya and would definitely have it again. The sausage, shrimp, and chicken were perfectly seasoned with all the Creole spices you want and expect with jambalaya. The people with me had fish and chips, crab cakes, and the Low Country boil with crab legs. Everyone was pleased with their main courses and agreed that they would come back to try more items. Overall, I would say this was a good new option in Lynchburg that's definitely worth a try, especially if you're a seafood lover. Can't wait to see how this restaurant develops after this soft opening week.

I don't even eat oysters but know these were a failure. I had a sub that was described as being piled high with roast beef and served with an au jus. But instead it was minimal meat on tough bread with a dip made of onions and what tasted like great value brown gravy. It was our first and last visit, honestly if I could go back in time we wouldn't have ever gone the first time. We ended up here because the place we wanted to eat was packed, no issue getting a table here which should have been a sign. Oh and to top it off when it was time to pay we were told sorry we gave your ticket to someone else so here's their ticket, it's about the same as yours a little less probably....umm what? We paid it and left because we were over the entire experience. Oh and whoever on your staff that smokes weed it stinks up the place and just not the vibe we look for in a restaurant that's charging expensive prices for subpar ingredients. When we left we picked up a chicken sandwich at chick fil a just so we had a decent meal this evening.

I just moved to Lynchburg a month ago and experienced dining downtown last night (for the first…read moretime) and it really made me question if I will ever go downtown again to eat out. I have several issues but will start with the first one that really bothers me: 1. As I approached the restaurant I noticed this homeless man walking around the block with a walker. I was in Dish from 5 - 6:30 and this homeless man came in THREE times to go into the bathroom (he was not a customer). This was not only a huge turn off but IMO a sanitary issue of him going into the bathroom doing who knows what. I saw the expression on the waitress face like she did not know what to do. Was there a manager working? Is this how it is at every restaurant in town that they allow homeless people in to use the bathroom? Are there homeless shelters for people in town to provide care and feeding for them? 2. I ordered a glass of wine on the Happy Hour menu and it was weak, like water was added to it. 3. I ordered the Smoke Salmon encrusted in Puff Pastry and the puff pastry was not cooked all the way (it was clearly visible that it was not a golden brown but rather a pale yellow. I just hope my future experiences in this lovely town on much better than I experienced last night. And one more thing, I have stomach issues today, and all I can think of is the cooks using that bathroom where this homeless guys went in 3 times in 90 minutes. I question how this is not Board of Health Violation.
