I really wanted to love this place more. Everything looked great but my food felt like it was lacking some flavor. I got the country fried streak and felt under seasoned. My wife and kids though loved their selections. My wife and daughter shared the waffle board and my son loved his chicken salad sandwich. The scrapple was nice and crispy. Overall, it was a fairly enjoyable breakfast.

I was at Lewes Beach for the weekend and we came here to Dewey Beach for Sunday brunch. I ordered the Monte Cristo Belgian Waffle sandwich that came with home fries and hot coffee. The Waffle sandwich was made to perfection with little crystals of sugar cooked into the waffles, warm syrup on the side with ham and cheese on the inside. Super indulgent. I had to take half to go and ate it later. Yummmy!Yummy!! They were attentive and I really felt taken care of. It's really amazing that I never made it to this place in all the years I have visited. It was right there the whole time, like right next door to the hotel I was staying at. It was just there. Most likely the reason I never got here was the fact that they are open for only breakfast, brunch, and lunch. I'm not a big fan of being up and functioning at that time, let alone eating. However, my friends made sure to get me here on my last visit. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The Dewey Post is quaint. It has so much charm to it. During the warmer months you have the opportunity to eat outside on either the deck or sidewalk. Or, if you wish, you can dine inside, if you do, it feels like you are in the dining room of a very welcoming home.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]To get to your seats you will have to pass by the display case where there are multiple pastries on display that will undoubtedly temp you to ruin your meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Once I got to the table my friends were at I had a menu in hand and was looking it over. There were tons of recommendations from everyone at the table, especially since they have come before. I kept going back and forth on a few items, while I was still mulling it over I did place my drink order. I wanted sweet tea, when I had asked, they told me they don't have it on the menu, but they could put some simple syrup in their iced tea. That worked just fine for me, didn't taste too bad either. I also asked for some water. I finally decided on what to get and I went with the Sausage Gravy. This was so delicious that it had me nearly licking my plate. Not sure how they make their gravy, but it was very tasty and made me want more. But I don't think that this should be overshadowing the base of the plate. That buttermilk biscuit situated underneath it all. With each bite I took, I made sure that scooped up more and more of that gravy. making sure each bite almost was covered in it. What I liked most about it was the size of the chucks of sausage within the gravy. This is a comfort food and it definitely brought me comfort. It made me sleepy and that wasn't so bad since I just had to go back right next door.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Very popular restaurant![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We waited almost an hour for a table! My chicken salad with bacon on a croissant was delicious! Will definitely order again! My friend's breakfast burrito with scrap & eggs was unfortunately not so good. We both ordered cold brew coffee and liked it! [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is a nice bayside beach and marina nearby. I will have to come back to try out the food as it seems this location gets high marks. But as for the smoothies, I would pass. They're very very sweet, more ice and fruit mixed with not a whole lot of flavor.

We were so excited about trying this for brunch. Walk into a quaint yet bustling little shop. The decor is adorable, aroma is divine and everyone seems to be having a good time. We sit in the last open booth, are brought waters and drink orders were taken. I got the chicken and waffle Bloody Mary and he got a Paloma. The bloody was described with it being served with a chicken and waffle slider on top. I was so excited but quickly disappointed when they brought my Bloody Mary out and the biscuit was brought completely separate at a different time. His Paloma was fine. Jammy Egg was a great concept but lacked execution and that wow factor when taking a bite. A little sweet but mostly bland I got the she bowl which was shredded sweet potatoes, some kind of meat and a very small egg over easy and cheese. It was just fine. For the size of the bowl and amount of potatoes and cheese, there needs to be two eggs. I think the shredded sweet potato was soggy and just kind of mushed in your mouth. After eating a little under half, I noticed some kind of liquid pooling on the bottom. It was oil. Just a pool of oil under the potatoes so I stopped eating it. $75 for brunch and we were both pretty disappointed even though the menu descriptions sounded so promising. read more

Great service and lox platter rocks. Crispy waffles were delicious. Lock platter has everything bagels and very creamy cream cheese. Plenty of lox to share. Waffles and potato were very good. The simple eggs were well cooked and tasty. Will have to go back and get the cinnamon buns, which looked yummy. read more

Amazingly friendly, attentive, prompt service even on a busy Friday. Food was great-"chunky monkey" brunch waffle was sweet and well supported by the peanut butter and fresh banana. Caprese toast was similarly good. Bathrooms are extremely clean. Am definitely coming back. read more

While on vacation, we stopped by Dewey Post for breakfast and were really impressed. We had the bagel lox and a build-your-own breakfast sandwich--both made with fresh, high-quality ingredients and full of flavor. The Costa Rica Blond coffee was some of the best we've had--smooth, rich, and perfectly brewed. On top of that, the service was super friendly, making the whole experience even better. Definitely a spot we'd visit again. read more

So ... i love those quaint little cafe-ish, non chain feel restaurants that offer amazing menus and great service. The Dewey Post crushes my type of breakfast spot. The menu IS NOT your typical pancake/ boring egg fare. From the veggie frittata to the oat and fruit bake. The food was delicious and our server was great. Parking can be an issue but we'll worth the effort. I don't give 5 star ratings (there's always something that could have been better). The Dewey Post was absolutely one of my favorite spots ... not sure it could be improved ... so here I'll say five star read more

Place was so good we dined here Saturday and Sunday. Excellent attentive staff deliver a full fresh brunch menu. Alcohol service begins at 9:00 am with lots of mimosa and crafted cocktail choices. Smoothies looked good as well. Day one wife had the Garden Bowl with shredded sweet potatoes, asparagus, red onion, and mushrooms paired with an arugula salad topped with a delicious, light lemony dressing. I had the Paper Route breakfast sandwich with frittata, peppered ham, Swiss cheese on a fresh, toasted croissant. Delicious. Day two we shared eggs Benedict and the vegetable frittata. Real poached eggs and fresh made hollandaise sauce were perfectly prepared. We will definitely be back read more

Wasn't a fan of the Valencia Coconut brunch cocktail, but regular mimosa was good! Both sandwiches were excellent, non-traditional take on a club featuring chicken salad. If you're looking for a delicious breakfast spot, this is it! My family and I heard great things about this place and we were not disappointed. We were sat right away, everyone from the host to the server were friendly and kind. There was outside and inside seating we choose to eat outside and the vibe was great! The Dewey Post , the five stars I did not award was nothing they could control but I would avoid sitting out side in the summer because the flies were terrible. We are outside at another restaurant and had the same trouble so this is a outdoor problem not a restaurant problem so to thoroughly enjoy your meal eat indoors. This cafe is adorable. The service was friendly and the food amazing. I had a delicious iced chai latte but wished had ordered a Bellini or Mimosa. My husband had the Caprese Toast, I had the Paper Route and my daughter ordered the chicken and waffles. All three were delicious. Looking forward to returning on my next visit to Dewey. A really pleasant addition to my favorite beach town! read more

Highly recommend for breakfast. We had a hard time deciding on with so many great options both food and coffees. We settled on the postmaster to share. Pretty filling but a lot of sugar. You might want to get another protein. We'll be back tomorrow. read more

Owners and staff are super nice! First time we went food was sub par and lattes/coffee and pastries were gross. Went again today, menu looked so much better. sat at the bar. Let me preface I have no issue waiting for service when it's busy, but when I've been patiently waiting to put a drink order in, 15 minutes, and 4 people come in, sit at the bar and are friends with owner/employee and are immediately greeted and orders placed, yup we got up and left. Honestly doubt we'll ever go back. read more

Adorable restaurant with nice decor, unique menu, and the food was tasty. My only complaint was how slow it was. Our breakfast took 40 minutes to receive and there was hardly anyone else seated. A lot of staff working but we couldn't seem to locate our server and kept asking for water, coffee, etc. Staff was friendly but perhaps busy doing other things. Would come here again if I had the time... as it was over an hour to have a simple meal. read more

Already buzzing at 8:30 AM, this local breakfast/brunch hang out has a coffee bar/regular bar/blue and white beach atmosphere with lots of beautiful pastries and diverse menu. Our server Lindsay was unfailingly nice and exchanged our 1st cups of light blend coffee (normally served) with their stronger dark brew (delicious). Mimosas and bloody Mary's are served after 9 AM. I appreciated the cloth napkins, white China, ceramic mugs, and the handmade blue and white water glasses. Turbinado and white sugar, real cream in a little pitcher, and grind your own salt and pepper on the table. read more

My second favorite spot in the mornings. (1st place is on the beach lol) Dewey Post is wonderful. The food is amazing. Service is personal and friendly. They make you feel like a local. This place was everything we missed all week! Service was prompt, friendly, and attentive. The food was outstanding. Additionally, we had two children with us who are very picky eaters, and they left happy. The sunshine is amazing in the morning through the front windows so you may need your shades, but who's complaining about great weather? Advice: get the waffles! read more

I only had the one I paid for. There's no need to lie, bad days happen. This is not a speakeasy, this is a restaurant cosplaying as a speakeasy. That may be a bit harsh, it's a speakeasy in training. Sure, it's got all of the speakeasy decor, blackout curtains over the windows and doors, and a big selection of pedestrian liquor but it's not quite there. We went in on an early evening on Wed and there were maybe 5 other patrons in there. Our waitress was nice and brought us water to the high top. She brought us two food menus, and a specials menu. I asked for a bourbon list and she brought it; no prices on the list. Annoying. On the specials menu there was a small section of manager recommended drinks and one was a Willet. The way it was written was confusing because it said it was both a 4 year and 14 year for $52, so I asked for clarification on the age statement. She took the menu to the barkeep, who confirmed it was a 14 year so I said yes I'll have that. A drink was brought to me, but I could tell from the taste that it was not what I ordered. I asked the waitress for the bottle, she asked the guy behind the bar for the bottle and he pulled down a willet pot still bottle (pot still is the entry level Willet and at best a 5 dollar pour, no where near what I asked for). I told her that I was given the wrong drink, then she approached the bar and between her, and the male and female bartenders they had a weird back and forth conversation. Then, finally they pulled down the bottle that I asked for, that was advertised, and gave me a pour of it. I asked to see the bottle and the waitress brought it over but held it instead of putting it on the table (it was a 13 year Willet, Paper Trail). As we were about to order we were told that they reset the menu the very day before, with the focus of putting more love and care into the food. Feeling good about that, we ordered the French quarter catfish and the bourbon braised short ribs. The corn that came with the short ribs tasted straight out of a store bought steamable pouch, and the "ribs" weren't ribs at all, just sliced meat. The only redeemable thing about the catfish dish was the aioli; the rice had no flavor, the corn was cold and hard, and the catfish was mostly breading. We both took a few bites and resigned. I have been to many speakeasies around the US, and there are common themes: a much better selection of liquor; 95% of the bourbon were low tier bottles you can find in any liquor store for around $50. Also, when customers ask for the bottle, it isn't because we plan to steal it or drink from it, its because we're genuinely interested in the information on the labels. The quickest way to get people to stop spending money is to make them feel as if they can't be trusted touching a bottle. Perhaps it was an off day for the staff and this wasn't a typical experience, but I won't go back.
