They created my engagement ring and it was beautiful. Was in every six months the first year to have it checked and cleaned - no issues. After about two year, the center stone fell out and I was told by another jeweler that TWO prongs would have had to fail for this to happen. TDC would not honor this because it. had been 7 months since I had my ring checked. The ring was just a few years old and I worked in an office. I was not hard on my jewelry. I had to purchase another stone (why did I buy it again from them???) to fix. I know things can happen but when you build a ring and I pay for the stones, the least you can do is not have it fall apart. And if it does - stand behind it and make it right. I had to make a claim on my homeowners who nearly dropped us for such a large claim. I sent a letter to the owner and naturally received zero response. Decided to never go back and we took all our spending elsewhere. We moved our business from TDC to Goodman's where we purchased many new pieces over the years. Now we live closer to Oconomowoc and go to a local shop where the jeweler is on site and they do stand behind their work. read more

And I found exactly that at the diamond center on the west side of Madison. Tricia helped me find my ring and I bought it the first day I entered that building. I needed the custom ring within 10 days and Tricia got it completed and ready in six. I picked it up and it looked absolutely beautiful. Update: ended up needing it resized. I came to the Diamond Center looking to have work done on a wedding band and get an engagement ring. We worked with Trisha who was amazing. Part way through, she informed us that she was going on vacation and Nate Sims would be taking over. When Mr. Sims came to meet us he began to ask where I was from. I replied that I was from Wisconsin to which he said "oh so are you just a super tan white girl or...". When he said this Trisha seemed as equally shocked as I was. Seeing as he made a huge mistake, he tried to cover by saying his wife was Hmong. When I called later, the manger told me Mr. Sims was "likely the most culturally responsive and aware member on their team." If this is the case, I sincerely worry about this location. I do not urge any people of color to come here. You will not receive the respect and pleasant experience you deserve. My fiancé bought my ring here specifically because of the great return policy. We had never talked about my ring preferences so he bought me a very simple band and after proposing told me I could change it for something more my style. Even though it had been well over a year since he'd bought the original ring I had no problems swapping the band. I'm pretty indecisive but the sales staff (I worked with Tricia and Sam) were patient and helpful. They let me waver and try on many different styles while guiding me to a choice I'm very happy with. After getting the new ring back I realized the band was a bit too big so they resized it for free. I'm moving soon and they were always willing to put in a rush order for me to get my changes back within a week. Picked up my finished ring today from The Diamond Center... SO BEAUTIFUL! About month ago I had went to different jewelry store and had a terrible experience, on my way home with no appointment decided to stop at TDC in Madison. My ten year anniversary was coming up and I was looking to change my band. I walked in and right away the staff was fantastic. Nate was beyond helpful. I had an idea what I wanted but wasn't seeing it, none of the stores had what i was looking for. Really thankful I got to work with Nate on my ring. What stood out for me was how knowledgeable he was and how he counted on his staff as well to help with questions and finding answers. With picking out wedding bands we didn't just sit at one display but looked into each case seeing if something stood out to me and figuring out what I liked. It was really hard for me to commit to a ring that I couldn't actually see on my hand but looking down at this ring right now... I'm in LOVE! With my ring, my stone is a cushion cut, Nate was only person that talked about double prong setting... sounds weird I know : ) I didn't like that look and wasn't sure. Brett was incredible. I'll start by saying that the Diamond Center is the first place we went (we saw the great Yelp reviews and wanted to check it out), and were blown away by the service. Brett spent over an hour with us to walk us through everything, and was very patient with my indecisiveness. I had wanted to pick out a few styles I liked, and leave the ultimate decision up to my boyfriend. I loved the setting of one of the rings, but they didn't have one for a marquise cut diamond. Brett said they could design one custom, but I wanted to see what else was out there and kept looking. When my boyfriend (now fiance) and I went to another store, the service was completely different and unimpressive. We found another setting I liked just as much if not more than the one at TDC, but my boyfriend and I agreed that if Brett could do something similar, we'd rather buy it from him. He went back to Brett a few more times to work on the design without me, and it turned out absolutely amazing. They were able to incorporate the features I loved from both rings, and I couldn't be happier. All in all, it was the personalized service and Brett's genuine interest in working with my fiancé to create the perfect ring for me rather than just selling what was readily available that led us to pick The Diamond Center. Customer service - 3 stars finished ring - 4 stars Communication - 2 stars Attention to detail - 2 stars This review is based on a custom designed ring based on a Toi et Moi design using my original diamond. My husband wanted to use a company that was local instead of a chain and found that The Diamond Center had good reviews. He was initially impressed when speaking with Nate Sims and Tricia and so put down a deposit in order to get the process started to design a ring. I had an idea of the design and sent over pictures initially. We found that doing the process over email was difficult and that Tricia's design really did not seem to match the images I was sending over. So we scheduled some time to go in. This was a few weeks to a month since the initial deposit was placed. When my husband placed the deposit, he noted he was interested in a pear shaped diamond for the other diamond to complement my initial one. We did not hear from Nate regarding a diamond and were looking on our own to see if we saw anything online. We stumbled upon (in my opinion) a beautiful light yellow pear shaped diamond that was well priced so we purchased it and brought that diamond in with us to the design session. This was where I was really turned off. We walked in and Nate immediately told us that we should have informed him sooner that we were looking for our own diamond because he almost purchased diamonds for us to look at and that cost would have been significant for him. We explained that we'd never heard back from him about any possible diamonds and wanted to make sure the ring was done for our anniversary, so maybe he should have communicated the diamonds he found sooner? Throughout the design session he looked at the diamond we had purchased and said how surprised he was that it was GIA certified and that due to its features, it would look a lot smaller than it should and "no wonder it was so cheap" (which it wasn't). Tricia was the designer and seemed great. We came up with a design I was happy with and my husband pointed out a few flaws that Tricia said she would correct before sending for a mold. At this point I was trying to look on the bright side. Then, 2 weeks went by without a word from them. I finally reached out and Tricia explained that the mold was taking longer than expected. I explained on that phone call that I found Nate to be rude, condescending, and the opposite of what I would expect in a customer service role and that I expressly did NOT want to see him again when I came in to look at the mold. I believe I actually stated that the best customer service move from him at this point was to go away. At this point, I'm pretty unhappy in general with communication and the customer service. Finally, the mold comes in and I go to see it. Nate comes in. He tries to apologize and says he had no idea what he did wrong. I said fine, but please leave me alone. I was so angry that he had come in when I expressly asked him not to that I just said yes to the mold and went home. My husband saw the mold and realized Tricia had not changed anything about it like he had asked during the design session. The ring would have been cockeyed and unbalanced, the baskets didn't match in height, among other issues. From then on, he dealt with them and after nearly 3 months of back and forth, I finally have a ring that is very nice. I would never go back there for an intricate, custom design. read more

Nearly one year after my now-husband and I purchased our ring at the Diamond Center, I still can't stop thinking about the wonderful experience we had, and still happily accept many, many compliments on my engagement ring. West Madison has many diamond stores within a very small radius and we went to all of them. Diamond Center had the friendliest, most knowledgable staff, the best price/quality balance, AND the best warranty policy, hands down. Nate went above and beyond to make sure that we walked out with THE perfect ring that met all our criteria, while always respecting our budget. He spent lots of time giving us a thorough and honest education on diamonds and helped us along the process smoothly and without any semblance of pushiness. I felt very pampered and well-attended to every time I stepped into the store, despite it being crowded at peak hours. I browsed many different settings (which are generally on the pricier side), and unable to find the perfect one, asked to have something ordered from one of their vendors. Nate made the order immediately and it arrived just days later. Their selection of diamonds was just fantastic - they had a huge range of prices without sacrificing quality, and some really unique stones as well. I considered a cool "chameleon" diamond, and although I didn't end up going with it, I was really glad to have the option. My ring came with a certification card with the diamond stats, as well as a lifetime warranty for the diamond only, meaning that if anything happens to it (including if it just falls right out of the setting and is lost forever), Diamond Center will replace it at no cost. We also loved that they have a "buy back" policy for upgrades, where they will credit the value of your last diamond towards the purchase of a new stone. Although we've since left town, we're already planning to make a ten or 20 year anniversary trip back to Madison for that upgrade in the future. I can't speak for their financing policies because we paid full upfront, but be sure to mention if you're an Epic employee - they offer an additional 10% discount. But regardless of your budget or where you work, I highly recommend making the Diamond Center a stop on your ring shopping tour when the time comes. read more

This place really does deserve all the stars! Not only do they have a huge selection, their staff is incredibly friendly and patient. Emphasis on the patient. Case and point, I was looking for a super unique wedding ring, with lab created stones, a colored center stone that didn't stick up too much, and my ring finger is a size 3 (I am not a child bride). It took about 2 months for me to pick a stone (I'm fully aware that it's just a rock, and I was being way too picky), but they were not bothered. They ordered in 5+ different stones for me to look at and didn't miss a beat when I said, "meh... not quite right..." I finally settled on a blue zircon (marquise cut). The ring turned out amazing and on top of that, they have a great warranty program. You can bring your jewelry in as often or not often as you'd like for cleaning and repairs. You do not have to come in every 6 months like most places. This is a no "run around" zone. For reference, I worked with Trisha and Brett. They were amazing and I can't recommend them enough. I am a college student (age 22) that wanted to find my girlfriend a nice Christmas gift. My first experience when walking into the Diamond Center in Janesville was two saleswoman behind the counter giving me very clear judgmental looks while giggling under their breath. One of these woman was very rude when I approached the counter looking for assistance and she simply walked away as I neared, likely assuming that I did not have the funds to satisfy her commission needs. The other was friendly after we spoke for a bit and was helpful in helping me find an item that I liked. Felt judged by both sales people walking into the store and could tell that they did not take me seriously because of my age, ended up purchasing a nice necklace from another store later that day based on the negative experience I had at the Diamond center even though I did find an item that I liked there and would have happily purchased prior to the initial feeling of judgement and distaste as I walked into the store. read more

I went with my boyfriend to check out engagement rings here together. I actually knew exactly what I wanted but after visiting another local jeweler twice and coming away empty handed because they tried to sell him something different or tell him what I wanted didn't exist anymore he figured it was safest just to have me along this time so he could get me something I would love. We had no problems getting the exact ring I wanted and the sales people were very nice and friendly. They did not try and sell us anything else or more than we wanted. Nicole was able to answer all of my questions and give me very detailed information. After we had my ring picked up she had me wait in the lounge where I was able to enjoy a beverage while her and boyfriend finalized the details and purchasing. Overall we were extremely pleased. In regards to some other complaints about returns and exchanges - that seems pretty standard policy with many jewelers these days and I would never expect to own something for a long period of time and then be able to exchange it for full value. I felt in no way mislead about their policy. In terms of engagement rings this is why we went shopping together because while doing our research it seemed that anywhere we went it would be a bit of a hassle to try and exchange so we just wanted it to be the perfect ring right away. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped in here on a Saturday to browse and try on some engagement rings to see what we liked and didn't like. We had first stopped in at the jewelry store next door (Jared-the Galleria of Diamonds) to The Diamond Center. However when we walked in we looked around the store for a little while before someone who worked there even acknowledged us. And when she did she told us someone be with us shortly... Which they were not and we walked out and went next door to The Diamond Center. We had planned on going to both but were glad we went to TDC. As soon as we walked into TDC we were greeted by Justin who asked what we were in for today. He sat down with us to get to know us better and what we thought we were interested in. He took us through each step in selecting a ring for us. And would ask us what liked and disliked about each ring we looked at so he knew better to what to narrow us down to. Jason, the store manager, also assisted us along with Justin. Since I am a nurse I had some special needs in my ring, like I needed a shorter shank on the ring so it would sit down more in my finger and not get caught on my gloves while I worked. We had 2 rings that we selected that we liked. We liked the above look of one and the side view and height of the other. Then the salesmen told us we'd be better off designing our own rather than buying a designer line ring. So we did, they took us back into their office and got onto a program that allowed us to change things about the rings to get them to be one ring that worked best for us. They really were helpful and kind to both of us. We spent about 2 hours there and ended up designed and purchasing my engagement ring. Now they just need to make it. I cannot say enough good things about this place. They were so great to work with when purchasing our wedding rings. The manager Nate was exceptional! When what the designer claimed was the matching wedding band to my engagement ring didn't look right when soldered together, Nate made it his mission to make sure I was happy with the end result. I was so impressed with how much effort he put into making me happy! He kept in constant contact with me, with the status of his conversations with the designer, and in the end, The Diamond Center ended up altering my rings for me to get them to line up correctly and look amazing when soldered, since the designer didn't care. I ended up with a Jeff Cooper set that I still get compliments on. We've also had repair work (my Grandmother's engagement ring) done there. I purchased an Engagement ring for my wife here. I didn't know what she wanted and didn't want her to shop with me because I wanted to suprise her with my proposal. With this in mind I made several inquiries about the exchange/return policy and was assured that I'd be able to exchange the full value of the ring for a different ring if she wanted to pick out something else. Since I have horrible taste in anything feminine I wasn't suprised when my wife preferred to pick something out together. Upon return to the store the Manager was borderline hostile when I requested to exchange it and would only allow me to do so if I spent double money on an engagement ring. My wife didn't want anything large on her tiny hand and was against spending more than we already had. The General manager finally gave in and allowed me to exchange the Diamond only, and offered to give me scrap value for the setting that I spent $350 on. Don't believe anything the snake oil esque salesmen say in regard to them honoring any sort of verbal agreement related to exchanges and take their opinions with a grain of salt. Unfortunately I'm stuck with the ring from that store I wish I had shopped anywhere else. Even walmart would have been better. read more

The situation: Two days before Christmas and haven't picked up the gift my wife wanted. Friends tell me to try The Diamond Center. Greeted by a salesperson who when I asked about what I wanted (specific Pandora bracelet charm) was unhappy that someone obviously moved it since he had just seen the charm a few hours earlier. He informed me several times that he was not supposed to be there that night anyway and he couldn't believe they made him work etc. That is how my experience started. They didn't have the item I wanted in stock. When he was unable to locate it, he finally asked his colleague and another salesperson was able to find the item I was looking for at another store in Janesville. I was starting to feel a little better until the first salesperson asked how I was going to pay for the item. I told him I would pay for it when it arrived at their store and was told that unless I paid for it that night it would not be sent to their store. Merry Christmas Diamond Center dude. About 10 years ago I had a less than favorable experience at The Diamond Center. However, when I wanted to get the matching band for the other side of my engagement ring I was stuck because it was Hearts on Fire and I knew that was carried only at The Diamond Center. I went back with a LOT of reluctance. What ended up happening not only made me very happy, but willing to shop there in the future WITHOUT hesitation. Jason is the contact that we had at The Diamond Center, my husband and I ended up deciding that we were going to make a custom band, as the band I wanted was no longer produced. The process was very detailed, from the designing of the ring to the picking out of the diamonds. There was actually a hiccup, it turns out I have a very sensitive eye for color-much more than apparently the average customer and when my ring was finished, I didn't feel that it was finished how we had envisioned it. I went to Jason and explained how this was not what I anticipated and not only did he fix the problem, he fixed it above and beyond what I could have expected. They say when something goes wrong you tell 10 people and when something goes right you tell 2. Well, Jason made it so right and I was so impressed with how he handled it that I have made sure to tell EVERYONE. I will go back, because not only am I convinced that they do have/can make a beautiful product, but rather the more important thing is that they stand behind their product.
