The Dime makes a cool place for a date or if you would like some quality conversation with great food and city views in welcoming style. The only thing tainting the atmosphere is the out-of-place televisions featuring sports at the bar. I took my girlfriend and her mother there for Sunday brunch and we had a wonderful time. The mimosas and Aperol spritz's were perfect and the breakfast really kicked off the day well. The sausage was really fantastic and they were generous with the lemon and ricotta pancakes. Although the potatoes were tasty, it looked as if they had been dumped right out of a freezer bag. And we are most grateful for Shaq and for taking care of us and for making the day even more special with his kindness. My girlfriend and I cannot wait to head back for a dinner. read more

I had the pleasure of dining at The Dime and was left amazed at the quality level of customer service, the overall ambiance and most of all the delicious food. There is a gorgeous view of the town square that made for an intimate night of dining and all of the staff was welcoming. The Local Lettuce had a very distinctive delightful taste. The Branson was cooked to perfection. For dessert, the vanilla gelato is amazing. Just the right amount of sweetness for those who prefer a light treat. Two words: duck burger! So juicy, so delicious. The fried egg, onions, mango pieces, fig jam all on a brioche bun (i removed the bacon, the chef should REALLY consider adding DUCK bacon to the duck burger)... perfection!! I thoroughly enjoyed it. My duck burger was paired with some amazing pesto fries drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette. My friends had the duck confit omelet and salmon sandwich. The service was great. Four of us dined here before a show at the PPL Center. We had reservations and were seated immediately upon arriving. We ordered some drinks (great Long Island Iced Tea!) and the Brussel sprout appetizer. These were so delicious -- crispy on the outside with a tangy sauce. I couldn't stop eating them! I ordered the lamb chops for dinner with a wine glaze (this came on the side and was a little gelatinous and room temp). I'm glad the glaze came on the side, because it wasn't that tasty. We cane to town to see a concert at the PPL Center, and the pictures, menu, and the fact that it was in the hotel connected to the venue was attractive. The Dime has a nice modern look. I wish I would have read the reviews. If you aren't in a hurry and don't mind over priced good food with small portions you might like the experience. The service was horrible. To be clear - It was NOT overly packed for a concert night and we arrived at 5:15 for a 7:00 show. There were several empty tables. We had to flag down a hostess twice because both waiters didn't even acknowledge us for 10 minutes after being assigned to our table. Two tables next to us had guests who arrived and were served and left before us. Funny thing at the door it says 'show your gold card and get a discount' - we did and maybe that worked against us. Every step of the process took way too much time. To the chefs credit when the food finally came out it was good. The portion size was slightly small but the price was high - likely because of the location and being in the hotel. This could have easily been a 5 star if the service was better, I might have overlooked the price. Just beware and read the reviews. Hopefully the managers and owner will read the reviews and take positive steps to improve this place. read more

Two adults/two kids dined at the Dime on New Years Eve 2021. Great view and location in front of the square where everyone gathered for the evenings celebration. Ambiance and food was nice. Restaurant was slightly under staffed, but every one put in 100%. We appreciated their service and sacrifice away from their family/friends during the holiday evening. Pre-fix menu only that night, so can't comment on their normal menu. They were able to accommodate for our children with something off the pre-fix, which was appreciated. read more

We have had breakfast and lunch here. Breakfast to go was great - stuffed French toast, delicious potatoes cooked with crispy leeks and the omelets were decent. Service was fine. Did not eat in. Space seemed nice at first glance. Lunch was not great,however. I had to search for the salmon on my salmon handheld. And what was available didn't taste fresh at all. This is the perfect location to dine at before a show at PPL. There is an entrance right outside the restaurant doors pretty much to get into the arena. The food here was fantastic. Highly recommend the short rib entree. The drinks were delicious but tasted like they had very little alcohol in them- that was disappointing. The omelette was not made from real egg ( it tasted weird) definitely from an egg liquid form. I ordered the egg Benedict and the ham in between the egg and muffin was so hard that i can't even chew on it. The coffee was nasty:( very bad quality. When we arrived in the am there was only 1 other table . Severely understaffed and from when we walked in for 5 mins I thought the place was closed. Anyways don't go there ... the hotel R was bad experience and this restaurant was even worse:( if you take the elevator in the restaurant up to where I was staying 6th fl.. it's the wrong elevator.. that sent me to some construction site. Where do I start? My mom has been wanting to eat at this place so I booked a table for her Birthday dinner. Party of six. We walk in and the place is empty. Red flag number one. We waited a few minutes for our table to be set up even though we booked Over A WEEK in advance! Finally seated.... Only one other 2 person table in the entire restaurant. We waited about 10 minutes until the waitress approached our table, which seemed very long considering there are only six entrees to choose from. Only one vegetarian option for one of my daughters, and it wasn't anything she would eat. They made no effort to offer her anything else, "maybe try a salad?" Suggested the mostly absent waitress. My kid got an appetizer which consisted of a blob of tasteless cheese and bread hard enough to crack teeth. Drinks took forever and if there was vodka in my martini, i'll take back this review. We were given two tiny plates of edamame in a sweet sauce, which wasn't bad, but no plates to put the shells on. Only after we ate it and piled the shells on our linen napkins were plates delivered. No dinner rolls tonight I guess. Then... nothing for about 15 minutes. I went to the empty bar for a glass of wine where i found the bartender leaning against the bar, engulfed in her phone. We finally ordered. Appetizers: fried calamari and pork belly. The calamari tasted ok but the breading was mushy. The pork belly was juicy and tender. Isn't it supposed to be crunchy yumminess? Now the entrees. Mom got the ribs which resembled a mound of overcooked roast beef that was overcooked in a dry crockpot. No taste whatsoever. She pawned it off on my son-in-law who pretty much eats any and all things in large quantities, especially meat. He slowly pushed it back to my mom. My oldest daughter ordered a thai noodle bowl with seafood. She picked out the seafood and left the tasteless noodles which suspiciously resembled angel hair pasta. My husband got the pork chop. He was too busy watching the shenanigans to really eat. He did like the Brussel sprouts. My son-in-law got the chicken parm which was so so. I can certainly make a better chicken parm in my own kitchen for much less cost. I got the filet which was fatty. Being a steak connoisseur, I know it was not filet. They did get the temp right. Their homemade steak sauce tasted like someone dumped club soda in duck sauce. I asked for A1 and was given a mostly empty bottle of it. The potatoes were supposed to be truffle flavored yukon smashed. They tasted like canned new potatoes. We all gave up at this point, asked for the check. They FORCED a 22% gratuity on an almost $400 bill. We paid it gracefully, ready to take our leave. A man in a chef coat stopped by our table to ask how everything went. My husband bellows "Excellent" because that is his character. Everyone else averted their eyes. I spoke up, as I tend to do and politely explained our experience. His solution.... He offered the birthday girl a free desert to which she politely declined. We got the heck out of there. Skip this place. I could have made a beautiful dinner for a fraction of the price. But Sunday is chore day and I didn't want to cook. My bad.... read more

First impressions cool look nice location and we were welcomed as we entered the restaurant, so far no problem. Two tables were occupied when we arrived and they had already received their appetizers, so as the third table with one wait staff on duty the waitress was not overtaxed. Two of our party ordered tea on arriving, The tea arrived with honey and no milk and no spoons. Thinking this was an oversight we requested milk and spoons. The milk arrived in 5 minutes and the spoons arrived about 10 minutes later, an excessive wait considering the number of people in the restaurant. This is just shoddy service. My bride ordered the Portabella steak what arrived was sliced small/medium Portabella caps which had been over seasoned and most certainly were not a Portabella steak! Two of our guests ordered gnocchi which was swimming in a the sauce and the presentation resembled dog food. Presentation matters when you're paying what the Dime demands and plating the gnocchi nicely with the sauce artfully arranged would've avoided the Alpo analogy. Another guest ordered chicken Parmesan - the chicken was over done but the accompanying noodles were nice. At the end of the meal the waitress talked about how she enjoyed the tiramisu so several of us ordered it. She came back a moment later to say there was only one serving left. If you are wait staff and you have ONLY THREE deserts on your menu I'd think you could keep track of what's what. The 'cherry on top' as it were was the arrival of the coffee and tea service at the end of the meal without...you guessed it, spoons. This was our thirtieth anniversary and if it weren't for the company it would've been ruined. The Dime isn't worth a penny in my opinion and I think I've justified why. read more

We were in a rush for some quick food before a concert and when we sat down I explained we were on a very tight schedule and ask if the grilled cheese was quick. The server confirmed it should be, and also answered a few other questions I had about the local area. The grilled cheese was fairly quick. I was expecting. Two pieces of Texas toast with some yellow cheese in the middle. Nope. What we got was an amazing feat of flavor architecture. A triple decker grilled cheese with what seemed like a mix of Swiss and cheddar, with a slightly sweet and savory onion marmalade. Holy crap. Me and my mom couldn't stop raving over it throughout the meal and through the next day. It was excellent. The fries and homemade potato chips were also excellent. $10 each plus tax for two glorious grilled cheeses and French fries/potato chips. I'd highly recommend this simple meal. read more

This restaurant is located at the main strip of downtown of Allentown. Clean classy vibe when you walk into the hotel to get to the restaurant and the restaurant itself doesn't disappointed either. The menu is all on an iPad that gives you the opportunity to look at photos of the dishes prior to ordering which I thought was really neat. To start we had the vegetable based French onion soup which was very good! But even better was the pretzel crusted calamari...amazing! For entrée we had the Tuna dish which was also good, I was just too full to eat at this point. Since we all have a separate stomach for desert, the dime Gelato cake was delicious! Pretty great date night spot if you're in the Allentown area. Our waitress was great and super attentive. My only heavy complaint is they had no music playing... the waitress said it was a hotel policy and I don't want to take that out on the restaurant but it was a bit frustrating. Took away from the ambience. But regardless we started with drinks- a samurai for me and the Hamilton shuffle for my boyfriend. Both were great... incredibly strong! We started with some crispy balsamic brussel sprouts that were out of this world in flavor. Next my boyfriend ordered the gnocchi and I got the seven fish risotto. Both were fantastic, but overall he won in our dish of the night. The pasta appeared handmade and had the most incredible flavor. The fish risotto had great flavor and the seafood was pretty good... but I still couldn't stop eating off his plate!! Mother's Day reservation. Was initially disappointed to find they had a special buffet instead of normal menu, but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Everything was high quality and delicious. Flavor and preparation of the beef, grilled vegetables, crab, and meats and cheeses was excellent. Ambiance and decor are upscale urban. Had a very late lunch or an early dinner here in the middle of the week. We ordered from the lunch menu as it was around 4 pm. The calamari appetizer was more like a salad with crispy calamari but it was quite tasty and included tender little tentacles. Two of us got the chicken and waffles sandwich. This was enormous and was served with a sriracha aioli as well as maple syrup. The only criticism of this sandwich was that the waffle could have used a little more time in the waffle iron. The turkey club was pretty typical but also had a spicy mayonnaise and was also very large. Both of the sandwiches were served with a choice of salad, fries, or chips. The cost with tip was about $70 and you get a wonderful view of the monument at 7th and Hamilton a couple of floors up from the street in the same building as the PPL Center and the Renaissance Hotel. read more

All I can say is WOW. What a place! This is one of the coolest bars we've visited. Very modern decor. A bit of steampunk and industrial but super comfortable. Entire menu is on an iPad. Cocktails well made servers friendly and attentive. Saturday around 8 there was a DJ and getting busier around 10. Probably a big crowd by midnight? Park in the attached parking garage and it's a short walk and elevator ride to the third floor. Great view and tons of seating. The Dime is a MUST visit destination. read more

We ate here 4 years ago, food was good and prices were high. Came last night not knowing there was a major concert at the PPL center. We managed to get a table without a reservation. The place was busy for sure and not a single person seemed to know how to work in a restaurant. When we finally had a server bring us water, the manager came over and scolded her in front of us, about another table waiting for their drinks. As a manager he should have just gone to the bar to check on the drinks himself. Next for some reason a different server came to our table 20 min later to take our orders. 20 min after that our drinks arrived and the order was wrong. We tried to just roll with it but we could never find our server to ask for more water or more ice or where was our appetizer. The Dime Burger Review Located at the swanky Renaissance Hotel in downtown Allentown (wait, downtown Allentown has a swanky hotel?) Dime - which gets its name from the urban definition of a "perfect 10" - is quite an exceptional space in an awesome location. The views of Hamilton Square from the expansive glass windows is downright impressive, especially on a nice night. Perfect 10 views, that's for sure. We visited Dime during late brunch service on a Sunday afternoon after a cocktail event at one of the floors above the restaurant. When we arrived, the restaurant was almost entirely empty, save for another couple dining in the bar area. If you haven't yet been to Dime, they don't provide you with a paper menu, rather, each guest receives and iPad to flip through the food and drink offerings. It's a cool and modern twist to the ordering process, and the interactivity is a nice way to experience the menu, especially when sample pictures pop up after tapping on a particular item. When the burger arrives, the first thing I notice - other than the gorgeously rustic presentation - is a very pleasing smokey aroma. I hate to say it, but the amazing visual and olfactory sensation is where my potential love affair with this burger begins to slightly fade. The burger is on the dry side but decently seasoned and cooked. While there isn't the amount of char I'd like, the grill marks are a nice touch. This is where I being to wish this burger came with a slathering of house sauce, but unfortunately there isn't one. The noticeable smokey scent comes from the smoked gouda, but unfortunately the cheese offers no quality other than smokiness and winds up getting mostly lost in the mix. The lettuce, tomato and onion are reasonably size portions, and add some welcomed freshness to contrast the smokiness of the cheese. The bacon is good as well (is it just me or does EVERYONE put bacon on a burger these days?), and adds a nice meaty bite on top of the burger, even though it's slightly rubbery in some spots. The bun is light and fluffy, and while it doesn't add a ton of flavor to the overall experience, the texture is perfect. The fries taste even better than they look. Wonderfully golden brown, nicely cooked, and perfectly seasoned, they rival any french fry in the Lehigh Valley. I'd have to say they were the highlight of the meal.
