Went with my family (a large group, about 12 people) for brunch. We ordered and waited an hour for our food that never came before we had to leave out of dire hunger. We went next door to Fitzwillys (very delicious and we were served in a timely manor by very nice staff). The duck nachos were overcooked and dry and I barely touched them. The server cleared the whole table of empty plates but left mine another 10 minutes. They walked by several times without a word until I piled everything on the plate. When I indicated the dish was not satisfactory, the server just said oh, and walked away. No offer of other food and it was still charged on the bill. Beers were ok, but there are plenty of good beer spots around. I was very disappointed after hearing some good things about this place. I try to love the Dirty Truth. There are a lot of great things about it. The service is always super friendly, not always fast but that is the business. Tonight, wanting a good meal an amazing draft beer and some wi-fi before the saturday rush. The dirty nor does any other decent place serving beer and wine in Noho have Wifi, except the Roost, which is freezing over priced and boring. In short sent fries back 2x burnt and cold both times, burger was okay but tiny. This all would have been okay had the server not cleared over a half a glass of beer and our waters before we had our coats on. We just payed a lot of money to be rushed out. I have worked in the industry for years and this experience a total bust. I know its busy and we are sitting at a communal table, but that means community people! Deserves NO Stars in my book! The Dirty Truth is that I have been all over the world & yet this little bar in North Hampton is By Far the most patronizing of them all! The service here stinks. Don't go here. Went for a beer after work with colleagues. After ordering a german beer recommended by the waiter things just went down hill. Another waitress took over our service and, when I could not remember the name of what I was drinking, decided not to serve me at all while I watched her eating something at the bar. I guess that's what you get for hiring entitled Smithies?! The original waiter came back about 20 minutes later and I finally got another drink. I paid the $16 tab (yes, over-priced, ridiculous) to the returned female waitress with a $20 bill and never saw any change. I should have complained but didn't want to upset the evening. First, the good... 1. While I am not a drinker, I went in here with a friend who was looking for a good beer. There are tons of choices and the waitstaff seem well-qualified to make recommendations. Our waitress also suggested that she bring a sample taste to my friend. Definitely a good practice! 2. We shared the giant pretzel appetizer. It was excellent! We went with the non-spicy mustard, as we had heard that the spicy will smack you! Now, the bad... 1. The service. Two different waitresses helped us during this visit, and they were bad and worse! The first one was just inattentive and generally in a daze. When she asked to check our IDs, I stated that I would be having soda, so she didn't need to check mine. Then, she took my friend's drink order and didn't even ask what I wanted. When she returned with the beer, she quickly put it down and then darted away. Still no beverage for me! Finally, we flagged her down and she stopped and said, "oh, I'll be right back." As she clearly thought we were looking to place our food order, I interjected that I just wanted a ginger ale. This further confused her, but she did bring it. Finally, it came time for the bill. Another waitress brought it. We placed a credit card. This second waitress processed it and brought it back, essentially tossing it on the end of the table and said, "here." Ugh, talk about a lack of any kind of personality in that one! So, if you're just getting beer, go in and sit at the bar. Otherwise, I'd say skip the place and choose one of Northampton's many other excellent establishments. read more

You know, if I'd never been to "The Moan and Dove" in Amherst, I might love this place. Great beer selection but incredibly dark and gloomy. Food was decent but way overpriced. This feels like a bistro and has all the pretension associated with a bistro. Moan and Dove has a very similar beer selection without the pretentiousness. Sure, it doesn't have food. Beer selection is astonishing--they have dozens of micro-brews on tap and the waitstaff is great at guiding you toward the ones you might like, offering multiple samples if you have any doubts. Also, the waitstaff is friendly and attentive, and I actually appreciate the fact that they don't give you the fake, exaggeratedly happy-happy facade of chain restaurants. Let me start off by saying that 5-7 years ago, my husband, friends, and I used to come here every single weekend for brunch. There was a newer weekend chef and the menu changed regularly. We happily supported this restaurant, where the food was great and the servers were friendly. Over the years, the brunch experience went slowly downhill. The menu stopped changing and gradually got more and more limited. We now only come by once in a while, because it's the only place in town where you can get a table at brunch time right away, even with a group. Maybe they should reflect on why that is... After eating there today, I have to laugh at the ridiculousness of it, and tell myself that at least we will never be back again to experience it. I ordered the sausage sandwich, and asked if I could have it without the bun. I was shocked when the server told me straight-faced that the kitchen will not make it without the bun, because then it won't be a sandwich anymore. Whaaaaattt??! kind of pretentiousness is that?! I brought up a concern that the bun would go to waste, but I guess that didn't matter because the $11 sausage arrived in a bun. When ordering a sandwich, you can pay $3 extra for fries or a side salad, and I asked for the salad. Unbeknownst to me, the server thought I wanted the sandwich, and a $6 side salad that is different from the one that comes with the sandwich. When the check arrived, I noticed the $6 charge and asked her about it. She explained that she thought I had wanted the larger side salad and not the one that comes with the sandwich. I said that I hadn't realized there were 2 different side salads, but that I had wanted the one that comes with the sandwich...and she asked me "well did you consume the entire salad?" (crying with laughter emoji X 5) I said "you know what, do what you gotta do" and paid the bill. I can't even with this place! The sausage with sauerkraut and mustard was good. The $6 salad was just a bowl of lettuce with some vinaigrette on it. If you're looking for a better brunch spot in Noho...try ANY of the other options; you might just have to wait a little while for a table! read more

This place was toted as a good place to take the family. It is not. They let us sit there looking at the menu in the dark for a good 20 minutes before they could wait on us (even though we were the only people in the joint). When they finally came to take our order they told us that we could not be there as some of our family members were not of legal drinking age. it didn't seem to matter that we were there for dinner or that the young people in question were not attempting to drink. I've been to the Dirty Truth twice: once the week it opened and once last week. When I was there last week there were 36 beers on tap and the place was crazy packed. The folks there were friendly (including the bartenders, the bouncer and the other customers) and it was generally a nice time. It feels a lot less cramped than the Moan and Dove, the "original" Dirty Truth in South Amherst but I was never there after 10 so who knows? The food wasn't the best but it was definitely above average. If you want to be able to have a conversation do not go here after 8 or 9; in fact it was pretty hard to have one over dinner which is one reason why this is not a five star place. They have a decent wine list which was shocking for me because if you ordered anything but beer at the South Amherst location the entire bar would stare at you. read more

Beyond friendly customer service. Ordering was quick and easy. Their draft beers are a variety to chose from. Their fries are amazing. All around, wonderful experience. VERY PRICY though. I've been going to the Dirty Truth since I moved to Western Mass. It's always been a little pricey, but the beer selection is ample and the atmosphere is good for a lively night out. This being said, unless dining alone, it is not the place to grab a bite. It is generally too noisy to hold a conversation without having sore vocal chords the next morning. This is not just because of the other patrons, but the music is uncomfortably loud, possibly to give the staff an excuse to ignore their tables. The food usually leaves something to be desired. The "Mussels and Fries" is probably the best thing on the menu, but it is not consistent (the broth/ sauce is never the same consistency as the last, and the fries have changed). The burgers are only good to people who haven't yet crossed the street to Local Burgers and Fries to see what "good" really is. The macaroni and cheese has potential but in the end is just heavy and boring. The only and last occasion that I tasted the pulled pork bbq, it was inedible, as it was merely meat being used as a vessel for cumin. (The sad thing is that the menu boasts a superior bbq sauce, if this is the case, the chef is in desperate need of new taste buds and a southern vacation.) The server did not even address the uneaten food and just gave me my check. If your looking for a cool place to drink and a good beer list, the dirty truth is a great place to go... Just don't push your luck for consistently good food. read more

Great selection of beer. It is pricy, but good beer is not cheap. I love going here whenever I am in town to catch up with friends and family over a couple beers. They always have plenty on the tap list so that people can find something they like. They are right in downtown on Main Street so it is an easy meeting place. Stopped in here for a quick beer before City & Colour at The Calvin Theater. I need to come back to get a complete experience as we were literally in - down a beer - and out, but love it so far! Dark, comfy little beer bar with friendly and attentive bartenders. Be forewarned though when I say 'beer bar' -- this place doesn't appear to have a liquor license, though I could see them kicking ass with a craft cocktail list. My boyfriend and I were in Northampton for a show at the Iron Horse and went to The Dirty Truth for brunch this morning- great selection on their menu, and like others have said, many vegitarian options. Breakfast sandwiches, french toast with brie & apples & walnuts, toad in the hole (with veggie chili), fritatas, etc. Enormous portions! Most items were around $8/$9, and well worth it. A very clean and upscale beer bar. There is a big draft beer menu though on my visit nothing very obscure. Premium prices on the more esoteric beers. For somebody who hasn't had a lot of US craft beer this would be a great spot. But for the more grizzled beer drinker, you won't get the 'wow' factor here. Of all the bars in Northampton, this is the only one with a truly interesting beer selection. That being said, the night I went there it was pretty empty and so I talked to the bartender. He didn't seem to know that much about the beers and was unwilling to give samples. So I bought two overpriced beers and wasn't pleased with either. If you have a customer who likes to sample beers you should do your best to help make that possible. I'll probably try this place again and see if I have a better time with a better bartender. But the prices will always be too high. read more
