Service was superb, I don't know the name of our waitress but she was so efficient and sweet - we were on our way to a show and she made sure we were well taken care of. What a sweet young woman! This is an overdue review from our visit this summer! We were super excited to try this place out because of all the great reviews. The atmosphere of the place is really nice and the servers are friendly. We were a little disappointed to learn when we arrived that they only had pizza available to eat. We weren't really given an explanation as to why, but we were bummed we couldn't try some things we were excited about. However, the two pizzas we got were very delicious! We got the meat lovers pizza which had just the perfect amount of toppings. The other pizza we ordered was the pink ala vodka which was amazing! I loved the banana peppers and balsamic drizzle. Had my birthday dinner here in the private room. The food and beverage minimum was $500, not including the $150 room fee and the $100 mandatory gratuity they didn't mention when I booked it. The room was really nice and I have no complaints about that! But 9 of the 20 people I had invited cancelled last minute so they came and told my boyfriend we needed to make up the missing money. We ordered seven pizzas we didn't need which felt really wasteful but I do understand they had a required minimum. The food was just fine in my opinion-- not bad but not spectacular. Service was just okay- I kept having to go downstairs to ask for things which was a little frustrating. For example, I got bottle service mimosas but they kept bringing the smallest amounts of orange juice and I had to ask for more 4 times. They also started playing loud music in Spanish upstairs which was not the vibe of my event at all and it took a while for me to find someone who knew how we could turn it off. They also didn't mention there's a different entrance to go in if you are going upstairs so me and all my guests came in then were told to leave and go back around which I think was unnecessarily confusing. They did a good job with the dessert (I lovedddd the skillet cookie) and added birthday candles for me which was nice! Overall, I would say it was a fine experience but not the fantastic one I was looking for. read more

I've been here a a few times, and mostly enjoyed all of my meals. The first time I went, I only shared a pizza, and it was delicious. We sat at a table right next to the cook, so it was nice to see them in action. The second time, I was there for a wedding shower brunch, and everything was delicious, from the chicken and waffles (which weren't dry), the jambalaya grits (which had a subtle kick) to the tres leches French toast (that were really rich and flavorful). I never leave unsatisfied, until the last visit which was this past weekend... I ordered a burger and it was decent. The ravioli was yummy and the salad was pretty good, too, but the calamari was rubbery and flavorless. They tasted like they were previously frozen and served as is. No salt, no pepper, no nothing. They were sent back. I also ordered the lemon pepper wings and they were not lemon pepper. They were more of a dry rub. I don't know if it was because we got there forty-five minutes before the restaurant closed, but it was just off. I've been to District several times and just realized i never wrote a review! When they first open i was skeptical, not because i heard anything bad, but because previously it used to be a local favorite bar/restaurant called South Street, and i was sad when thar closed. I was happy to hear it was open by a local Cape Verdean woman! The food is great, from apps, drinks to the pizzas! My last visit, my table shared the meatballs and Buffalo cauliflower apps, so yummy! I also had wings, tried a different flavor, Tai peanut; it was soooo good! I'm sad I didn't take pictures of it, but by the end there were only bones left lol. Checked out Yelp to find this place since I was going to be in the area around lunchtime and it had great reviews. So the hubs and I came in for lunch. We stood at the podium for a good ten minutes (we both had enough time to go use the bathroom, one after the other) before anyone came over to seat us. Once we were sat, it took quite a while for our drink order to be taken, then even longer for our food order. Our waitress was too busy getting drinks for the kitchen staff I suppose. There were two servers and a bartender on and it seemed like they needed help. No manager in sight whatsoever. Finally our food came out and looked great. I had the salmon with double vegetables and hubs had a burger. Food tasted great! We had to ask the bartender to find our server for our check. At least the food was good- maybe they had an off day, I don't know. I definitely don't recommend this place if you are on a time schedule or have somewhere to be. read more

Enjoyed a nice Sunday brunch here today. Initially the hostess was absent from the stand to greet us, we stood waiting awkwardly for several minutes until she finally appeared. It was also a little awkward that she just pointed to a table then disappeared again instead of walking us over. That aside, the food was pretty good. It was a bit windy so we had to be creative to not let our napkins escape, but that was not an issue. Everything felt very safe with social distancing, masks, and cleanliness. Had a really great brunch at The District recently and definitely looking forward to returning soon. We had requested to sit outside but they have very limited outdoor seating. Our server was nice enough to move a small table outside for us. We sample a couple delicious cocktails and eggs Benedict variations (classic and crab cakes) and both were delicious. The eggs were poached perfectly and the quantity of Hollandaise was perfect. Not overkill. There were many other items on the menu I would look forward to trying in the future.
