    Moon Bites
    Eric M.

I've heard so many good things about this spot thought I'd give it a try with my girlfriend before seeing Harry Potter at PPAC. The good highlight was definitely the moon bites. Flavorful fried mozz, great cheese pull on them. The Apple crisp also came out super hot delicious apples and loved the addition of some vanilla ice cream and strawberries. The bad: the burger was definitely a frozen patty, the burger was called the sheriff and I wanted to see him after having it. Just felt like so much going on but was so blah. Even the onions were so large and the burger didn't taste like it was seasoned. The ugly, the fish and chips or the fish and oil as it should be called was dripping. To the point were it left oil on the plate and even a small pool at the bottom portion of the fish. Definitely sad to see. To the service, honestly felt neglected from when we first walked in, no one had acknowledged us and kept having conversations, no one ever checked on us while we were at the table to see how the food was (probably because they know something was wrong or how long it took). The place wasn't that busy maybe 4-5 tables, and still took over an hour and a half for everything. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside was clean, clearly updated which is always nice to see they care about aesthetic but should do the same with some of the food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would give it another shot for maybe brunch as it seems to be popular, or maybe a pizza.

    Grits with Pulled Pork
    Erika W.

I was in town for a work conference and, as always when I travel, I make it a point to support local Black-owned businesses. That's how I ended up at The District for brunch--and I'm so glad I did! To start, I ordered the Guavamosa (champagne, elderflower, and guava juice). It was super light and refreshing--definitely one of those drinks that creeps up on you (in the best way)! Perfect for brunch vibes. For my main dish, I got the Grits with Pulled Pork. It usually comes with poached eggs, but I swapped them for eggs over medium. Let me tell you... those grits? So savory and well-seasoned--I'd come back just for a bowl of them. The pulled pork had a sweet, smoky flavor that paired beautifully with the grits, and the runny egg yolk brought everything together into one creamy, delicious bite. I sat outside, so I can't speak much to the indoor ambiance, but the service was excellent. The staff was friendly, timely, and super attentive, which I really appreciated as a solo diner. Highly recommend for a chill brunch with bold flavors and great energy. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Providence! #ImNotAFoodie #ImJustAGirlWhoLovesFood #YelpEliteSquad

Pizza - hard pass! Total disappointment
    Sila R.

The disappointment! We drove all the way from Boston to try this place. The first time we came was on a weekend, but since it's such a cozy spot, we couldn't get seats. We decided to come back again--this time determined! The drinks were amazing--I had a margarita that was perfect. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip (honestly, the best I've ever had!). The cauliflower was a little burnt but still tasted great. The ladies enjoyed the poppers, though I don't do that level of spice. We also tried the cheese pizza, hot honey pizza, The Graduate, and a burger. The Graduate was good, though the beans were a bit bland. No complaints about the burger. But the pizzas... total disappointment. No flavor, no seasoning--they looked great but tasted like cardboard. Such a letdown after everything else started off so strong. Let me not forget to recognize how nice the waitress was - on it, attentive and pleasant !

    cornbread benedict

Wow! Amazing food, okay service, and a limited menu. My table of two had the crab cake benedict and cornbread benedict - they were both delectable. I'd highly recommend either and I'd absolutely drive the hour from Boston just to eat them again! My meal included flavorful cornbread, perfectly poached eggs, and a refreshing side salad. Great portions for the prices. Our servers did seem to forget about us. It wasn't bad enough to cause a serious compliant, but it did impact my experience (we had to flag them down after about 20 minutes of our empty plates and card out in front of us). Lastly, the menu is very limited - it's worth looking in advance if you have dietary restrictions. The drinks side is clearly alcohol-focused, none of the non-alcoholic drinks looked interesting which was especially unfortunate for brunch because I would have loved tea!

Came here for brunch and it was pretty busy but we got seated pretty quickly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Environment was loud but it's what you expect for a brunch place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My food was DELICIOUS and exactly what I was looking for when it! Love coming here for their brunch food.

Jerry! The best bartender in RI!

I love this place! I am a frequent visitor and love the staff, food, and drinks! There is on street parking, and a parking lot across the street. On Fridays, it gets real busy, because they have a live band, so get there early (7-8). Today, I had the blacken salmon, harvest salad and fries. It was so good! Jerry is the best bartender in RI. Also, the garlic knots are great!

Crabcake Benedict. Replaced poached eggs with fried eggs.

Came here on my birthday for Sunday brunch and overall it was a pleasant experience. No frills, and even though I listed in my reservation that it was for a special occasion specifically my birthday nothing was mentioned or done. But not a big deal not holding it against them. The service was great. Our waitress was present and kept checking on us, food came out quickly and so did the drinks. The guavamosa was really good and was the perfect balance. The tequila sangria on the other hand was not. I'm not a fan of red wine and it was so overpowering. You couldn't even taste the tequila. It took me the whole time to get the drink finished because it just wasn't that enjoyable. But if you like red wine, then you will love the drink. The Benedict was super yummy, the chicken and waffles was also really crisp. Definitely would go back to dine inside for dinner one day.

    Huevos rancheros
    Annie R.

Food: I came here years ago for the pizza and remembered it was really good. This is my first time doing brunch here and it was soooo good! I ordered the Huevos rancheros. Eggs was cooked over medium and just perfectly done. The flavors were all there and I love how they mixed sweet potatoes in with the homefries. It was a great balance. My fiancé ordered the salmon Benedict and it was also really yummy. Service: We had a super attentive and nice waitress. She was great Ambiance: The place is bigger than it looks. The seating was nice and not too close together. It was pretty packed so I recommend getting reservations done before hand. The set up looks really cool and everything was clean. I'll be coming back!

    Huevos Rancheros w Mixed Fries

We got there at opening for brunch and had reservations just in case, I feel that if you get there before 11am, you should be fine if it's a party of 3 or less but anything more than that or after that, DEFINITELY, make a reservation. The service was quick and friendly and the restaurant itself has an elevated bar feel to it. If you seated at a certain side of the restaurant you can see the bar and the person making pizzas. For brunch, we had a regular coffee, water, and the Guava Moscow Mule Mocktail, which was delicious! For food, we got the Huevos Rancheros which were delicious and so were the mixed fries. The mixed fries are just potatoes & sweet potatoes mixed but they were good. The chicken & waffles were good too! I personally don't like cinnamon but I also didn't read on the menu that it was a cinnamon waffle, so that is my fault, but I still enjoyed the food! I'd love to come back for dinner/lunch to try their pizzas because someone ordered a chicken bacon ranch one & it smelled absolutely delicious as we were leaving!

    Chicken Milanese

I've probably been here a half dozen times or so. Always for lunch or dinner, I have not had the Brunch. It's always been a "Solid" 4-star spot for me. I recently visited with a couple friends and my wife and after talking it up as a great all around spot, this time I was let a little let down. The pizza which is typically what draws me in was a little too light on the sauce and the crust didn't have its typical chew and was quite dry. Normally it's got a great "New York" style chew to it and has a mildly sweet hint from the honey in the dough. This time, the pizza was serviceable but it was lacking for me (the Pink Ala Vodka is one I've had multiple times in the past. The Felony Burger is aptly named, as the meat they used in this deserves a felony charge. We asked for medium rare because no should be cooked further unless it's a smash burger. I actually almost sent this back but since we were with company I decided not to draw out the time here.. It was still cooked medium-well and it was clearly a pre-shaped and frozen burger. It didn't taste fresh and the texture was dense. There was next to no steak sauce on the burger either. It unfortunately lacked moisture and flavor overall. The chicken milanese was a pleasant surprise. I figured I'd give this a shot as I've had burgers and pizza here before along with some other sandwiches. It was flavorful and prepared well. It could have come with a small side, but it was something I got to keep things a little lighter. Overall, the aim of my visit this time was to socialize a bit with a couple friends and it was good for that, although a bit loud in the restaurant, it served that purpose. The only other grievance besides the food was that our server was very difficult to hear- I can't remember her name but The District is notoriously loud and bustling, the servers need to be sure their guests can hear them. Not in a rush to come back here but I'm sure I'll give it another shot at some point- will likely just stick to pizza, though, as the majority of the other dishes were not well liked by our party. But to that point, lots of good pizza in PVD and if that's what you're looking for, check out the surrounding options.

The first time I came, it was a rainy weekday and this time it was a sunny weekend, so I was expecting an even larger crowd; and my prediction was correct. The line was just out the door but because of their awesome staff, the line was moving very quickly. While we waited in line, we could watch them making pastries through the glass, a couple feet in front of us. I admired that level of transparency. When we were third in line, the kindest lady asked us whether we'd be eating in or taking out and she took down our name to help us find a table when it came time. She did the same for the rest of the people in line. She also gave us some recommendations, including the cinnamon bun - apparently they're so good kids cry when they sell out. I didn't intend to order anything with my drink, but I couldn't get the cinnamon bun out of my head so I ordered it along with my iced spiced chai latte. The hen (I think it's their logo) on the aprons of the employees are super cute. We did secure a table. The tables are close together to maximize the number of people who can sit down but I didn't mind. I love their art all around, mostly of birds which I am obsessed with. I love that they have a lot of natural lighting coming through their tall windows. I also like the navy blue and white theme they have going on. The chai latte was perfect. It was the right color (a dark tan), meaning the ratio of tea and milk was good and I could taste a lot of the spices. The cinnamon bun blew my expectations away. The second my teeth made. contact with the icing, it was a magical feeling. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it tasted like, but the closest I got was dulce de leche. It is truly unlike any other cinnamon bun I have ever had. The dough is soft and there is a good amount of cinnamon. It's also $4 which is not bad. I had a bite of their canelé, which apparently requires a lot of work to make. It was very moist, with a great caramelized finish. I am super excited to try their new weekend dinner menu, but also more of their all day menu items.

One of the hostesses was an absolute doll. We loved her. We sat for just a little while waiting for appetizers, and my wife discovered that her ASS REALLY HURT, badly, and mine was getting bad too, due to my lack of natural cushion back there. My wife stood up and never sat back down. She noticed a 4 top leaving and asked the hostess if we could move, completely unaware of the challenges this can pose the crew during the course of business (changing table numbers in a POS isn't always as easy as it sounds). But she agreed it should be ok. They were busy, too, and I heard that they had some staff call in "sick" after a wild 4th of July. So they took care of us and I was really grateful for that. My Mexican Corn Chicken Sando was ok... the flavors kind of got mixed together on a way that it didn't really taste that awesome to me. The wife loved her Huevos Rancheros, despite the hair she found in it (after having them change our seats, she was too embarrassed to say anything about that) and the tortillas that were so Chewy, they were inedible, she really enjoyed it. Our daughter really really liked the poutine a lot. All in all, I wouldn't rush back here, but I think our main complaint was the accursed seating. Aside from the high top, man, on the regular seats you're just sitting on a flat block of wood. McDonald's has more comfortable seating, and McDonald's intentionally makes the seating slightly uncomfortable so you don't just sit there forever, taking up a table. Anyway, it was alright. Every restaurant has its difficult days (and it's difficult customers!).
