This is apparently a spread-out national chain. Its esoteric branding belies the presence of fairly garden variety blue bell ice cream (not saying it's bad) delivered atop a waffle. I received an enormous amount of good cheer, plus four samples which I did not ask for before ordering a cinnamon spice combination. The bubble waffle was fresh and delivered an excellent texture contrast (the liege waffles, I was told, were not cooked fresh). The combination of toppings delivered plenty of the promised sugar and spice flavor, though I kind of wished I'd gotten something with more fruit. My family and I went here for some ice cream after lunch and some shopping. The employees were friendly and polite. It was also really clean. I also liked the color theme they chose inside. They have a wide variety of ice cream and toppings They also have shakes. My wife and daughter shared The Dolly Llama shake, which they liked. My daughter could not get enough. I had a build your own. For my selection, I chose the OG Liege waffle, chocolate ice cream topped with brownies, caramel and chocolate sauce. It was delicious! Who ever thought of a waffle (not a waffle cone) topped with ice cream would be so good. We will definitely be coming here again when in or near Mount Pleasant. Came through looking for a lil' pick me up and noticed Dolly Llama tucked in the corner by the 5 Below. Upon walking in I was greeted by a friendly crew and liked the coloring pages available for kiddos (or kids at heart!). They offer a plethora of sweet options of bubble waffles, ice cream (even bogo scoops happy hour during the week!!), crepes, mega shakes, vegan items, and espresso options. I got a gingerbread latte iced which was a great boost of energy for my afternoon. It was a little watery at the top but I didn't mind because espresso gets to me much stronger due to not having it often so a little bit goes a long way for me. As you can see my son gave his ultimate Cookie Monster ice cream a whole hearted thumbs up. I didn't get the bubble waffle for my ice cream because I wanted a crunchy waffle cone with my Ube ice cream. It was heavenly. As a llama lover, it was a no brainer I had to visit the Dolly Llama! A few of my friends and I came for my birthday and were greeted by the friendly staff who were eager to help us and explain how it all worked! I had looked up the menu online so I knew they carried vegan ice cream but I was pleasantly surprised to find out they also had a vegan waffle option! My bowl was delicious and all my friends enjoyed theirs as well! The store is clean, organized and has the cutest llama art on the walls. The Dolly Llama has a fun and whimsical atmosphere. The entire staff was welcoming and friendly. They offered each of us samples as we pondered the extensive menu. I decided on the mini OG ice cream sandwich with pistachio almond ice cream and it was delicious. The waffle was soft on the inside with just the right amount of crunch on the outside. There was a large selection of toppings to consider a long with lots of fun ice cream flavors. They offer milkshakes and sundaes and even the famous bubble waffle. There were also a couple vegan flavors for those with dietary restrictions. The shop was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. I will be sure to return on my next trip to Mt. Pleasant. It's tucked away in the corner near Five Below. The cute bright aqua furniture out front will help you find your way. It was definitely worth the trip. My family stopped into this new dessert bar after dining out nearby. We occasionally splurge on the cookies at Crumbl (a few storefronts away), but decided to give this new place a try. I immediately appreciated that it was so clean. The decor is modern and fun with vibrant colors. The menu is a lot to take in at first glance, so plan to stand there for a few minutes to get your bearings. Since I was full from dinner, I ultimately chose the #1 on the express menu: OG liege waffle with a Nutella sauce and fresh strawberries. It also had whipped cream and powdered sugar on top...I guess for the "more is more" crowd...but I felt it added heft and sweetness that I wasn't seeking. In the spirit of "more is more," my son ordered the Dolly's Dream bubble cone. A fun puffy waffle cone, blue "Cookie Monster" ice cream, brownies, strawberries, and Nutella sauce. He thought it was delicious; I had a hard time getting over the idea that the signature ice cream was bright blue and dyes one's teeth/mouth/lips accordingly. Cringe...but I can be grumpy. The preteen boy loved it. My daughter ordered the "Llama Gone Nuts" bubble cone. She raved about it. My husband, in a clear moment of insanity, ordered the OG Liege "Dolly's Dream." It was the same blue ice cream-brownie mix on a flat waffle instead of inside a cone. He felt ill for much of the evening. I told him we were too old to be eating dyed-blue ice cream that is actually CALLED "Cookie Monster." What was he thinking? For me, the overall experience was FOUR STARS, but my two kids rated it FIVE STARS without any hesitation. Since they're more in line with the target market, I think, I'm swinging into their five rating. My recommendation to those who like their dessert a bit more streamlined is to keep it simple. Waffle (of choice) with a favorite ice cream flavor. Maybe toppings if that's your thing. The service was super friendly. I hope that remains. We'll definitely be back. read more

A unique addition to Mount Pleasant. Everyone knows fried chicken and waffles make a good match, and Dolly Llama definitively establishes that ice cream and waffles do too. Dolly Llama also first introduced me to the "Bubble Waffle" which is like a warm and delicious edible version of bubble wrap. Pair it with some bright blue "Cookie Monster" ice-cream and you have "Dolly's Dream," an epic dessert that will challenge your senses (and your digestive system if you are a 40-something year-old parent). There are other similarly interesting options on the menu that my kids had no problem scarfing down. Full-size desserts are a bit pricey ($11-13) but pretty massive and can be shared. There are smaller, more conservative options on the menu as well, my favorite being the ice cream waffle sandwich ($7). The owner is super nice and the store is brightly lit and clean.
