Being Polish I grew up with soft and fluffy paczki, so I was never a fan of American cake donuts. That was simply not my thing, until I got introduced to Donut Cutter and their goodies. First I had a pleasure to try their custard paczki and I cried with a huge smile on my face because I finally found something in US that was the closest thing to true Polish paczki. I knew that if I ever crave paczki, this will be my place to go. They are the best I ever tried in US. Today friend of mine brought some cake donuts from this place and I followed my inner curiosity and tried few of them. Oh my, they were very fresh, dense but very moist, not dry at all and I really liked them. Again, I'm and always be a paczki fan but if I ever get to the point that I need a donut, this will be my place to go. My favorite ones were red velvet, sugar coated and glazed. Not a fan of nut flavor. I'll definitely try other flavors. My only concern is that now I'll need a huge power from don't know where not to stop by this place every single morning while passing on my way to work! This will be tough! read more

I've been to this place a few times, and the donuts are great! It's a solid local business if you're craving some sweet "breakfast", but they aren't the best donuts I've ever had. I ordered the glazed donuts, the red velvet, the chocolate iced, and the nutty donut. I liked them all, and I've had the fruity pebble donut before. It's good, just not life altering. They have all the classics, variations of classics, seasonal flavors, and even some experimental ones. BRING CASH HERE its just easier. I got 4 donuts on my first visit: Classic Glazed, Chocolate Raised, Buttercream Filled, and Salted Carmel. The yeasted donuts (glazed, chocolate raised) were nice and fluffy and not sopped in frosting. The cake donut (salted caramel) was moist and flavorful; usually I'm not a fan of cake donuts. Classic family-owned vintage feeling doughnut shop with excellent treats! This is easily the best doughnut spot in the area and a favorite amongst the local hospital staff. Every time I see a Donut Cutter box, I know that I have to have one. They have a wide variety of flavors to choose from, all for a pretty low price ($18 for a dozen as of the writing of this review). I do highly recommend bringing cash if you can, as they do charge 4% if a debit or credit card is used. The workers there are all very nice and if you see a long line just know that it moves quickly and is well worth the wait!!! This is my go-to donut spot when I get treats for work or to share with friends, and they often ask where I get them from. This is the spot, and I highly recommend giving them a try! read more

Donut cutter is a cozy shop selling fresh made donuts daily. They open at 4 am and are pretty much sold out before noon- that's on a weekday! The variety is striking, each has a fresh distinct flavor. I got a box of 6 with old fashioned, red velvet, pineapple coconut, fruity pebbles and sprinkles. I loved each one of them. They melt in your mouth. I loved them warm with cold apple cider . They have an old coffee place feel and serve coffee. There is comfortable seating if you wish to sit and enjoy your donut. They have so many variety of flavors and types and are known for their apple cinnamon fritters which are delicious! Such good donuts!! This is an old-school donut shop - no frills, but they are some of the best donuts you can find in Metro Detroit. It's cash only, so be prepared for that, but it's worth it. So good. I grew up on these donuts. Everything is good here. The only issue is when they run out of some of the specialty items that's it until the next day. It's best to get there as early as possible to avoid limited choices. Parking is rarely an issue. The prices are very fair for what you get. The staff isn't exactly friendly, but they aren't mean either, they're just in a hurry so know what you want, have your payment in hand, and get out of the way when you're done so the next person can go. read more

We heard about The Donut Cutter on the Mojo & The Morning radio show and decided to give it a chance this weekend - especially after seeing the pictures of all of the donut options on Yelp. We got there and didn't see a lot of the options that we saw online (got there at 10AM), so we picked the best of what was left. I had the Chocolate Honey Dip (even though I'm sure it was their German Chocolate) and their Salted Caramel. They were standard donuts to me - nothing to go out of our way for like we did, but if you're in the area - definitely stop by (the earlier, the better, I'd imagine). Home of the best donuts I've ever eaten in the Detroit area. I used to come here in high school in the 90's (usually while skipping class) and recall thinking how much better the donuts here were than they were everywhere else. No clue when or why I stopped coming here, but I just stopped in for the first time in years the other day and... not a whole lot has changed in the last couple decades. The donuts still look and taste more or less exactly the way they used to. The patronage is still consistent. The decor remains unchanged. The only real difference I noticed (aside from a modest price hike) was a lack of high school kids smoking at the counter... and that's probably only because smoking is no longer allowed indoors!
