After eating salads for 9 day, I wanted to have a good meal so came to check it out! My server Kim was so attentive and the bartender was so friendly. They have Happy Hour every day from 3-6pm! Entertainment on Monday and Friday! I'm so glad I came here!! I look forward to leaving the hospital to have a great meal! Tonight was my 4th night having dinner here and look forward to tomorrow! Tried The Dottled Line and ordered their "Girl Dinner" concept, which is basically a kids meal for adults. For $40, it came with a Caesar salad, truffle fries, chicken nuggets, caviar, a marshmallow dessert, a Hello Kitty ring pop, and a cocktail. I thought the concept was cute and playful, and honestly I think most of the price comes from the caviar and cocktail. The presentation was fun and definitely Instagram-worthy. The Caesar salad was fresh, the fries were crispy, and everything was decent, but nothing really stood out flavor-wise for me. Overall, the food was just okay. The bartender and server were both very friendly and provided great service, which I appreciated. They also offer valet parking, which was a nice convenience. The only thing that surprised me was how empty the place was during my visit, which made the atmosphere feel a little lacking. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. I've heard about "the restaurant at the AC Marriott" but I finally got to come here for lunch with some co-workers. I was really excited about the food choices and have to come back so I can try more things. We started out the Taste of Aloha platter, which has a great sampling of appetizers: Karaage chicken, mandoo, huli huli filet tips, sweet potato chips and ahi dip. There was 6 of us but there was only 3 mandoo so it was a first to grab kinda thing. I didn't ask about getting an extra side order of mandoo so we could each have a piece. Fail on us. I liked everything on the sampler platter, especially the karaage chicken which I would consider to get as an entree. On this occasion I got the New York Strip. I was going back and forth between that and the wagyu burger (because I wanted fries) but I was super intrigued at the potato pave. I learned about a new dish! The potato pave is scalloped potatoes layered and pressed and baked so basically a potato lasagne. It was really good though! I also liked that there was some vegetable on the plate so I didn't feel too much like a meatasaurus. I always get my beef cooked medium and this was perfect. Because there was six of us, we told each other to eat as food was dropped off so it was hot. I made sure to save room for dessert so we ordered a couple of the cheesecakes to share on the table which was just the right amount. After eating all my plate and appetizers, I don't think I could have handled a whole dessert myself and I don't like to waste. Our service was great, our food was delicious and the vibe of this place was quiet and professional so it makes a great place to have lunch with colleagues. For as long as they've been open I've not stopped in mainly because it is located smack in the center of downtown Honolulu and PARKING is a definite no-no. Happy hour with a lovely crew! Thank you to my dear friends for taking us to The Dotted Line for our last evening. We arrived at the start of happy hour to a quiet, clean, and spacious restaurant. Located within the AC Hotel, the restaurant is modern, chic, and definitely emulates downtown vibes. Plenty of tables for all party sizes plus seating at the bar. Service was kind and courteous. We got the Taste of Aloha to share and the Kona Kampachi Crudo. Everything tasted great and the platter was the perfect portion for our happy hour tastings! I would rate 3.5, but rounded up to 4 strictly due to Restaurant week price. Service was very attentive, and the space is surprisingly swanky for a hotel. Located inside AC hotel, street parking only. Elegant, modern, comfortable without trying too hard. The live music added a nice touch to our date night. Started with the Chinese Roast Pork Crunch Salad: fresh greens, roast pork, cabbage, mandarin, sprouts, cucumber. Huge portion. Ingredients were fresh and the pork had good flavor, but the mango vinaigrette didn't quite keep up with the size of the salad. A bit more dressing would have balanced it out. We shared so we could try everything. Entrées: 1) Golden Szechuan Noodles with Shrimp: perfectly cooked look fun noodles with a peanut-mala sauce and bok choy. Solid dish, but I wanted more of that signature Szechuan heat and numbing spice. The garlic shrimp were plump, well-cooked, and nicely seasoned. 2) Fresh Island Catch: the rice and kosho cream sauce were fragrant and comforting. The fish leaned overcooked, though the flavors around it helped make up for that. Dessert: the Basque cheesecake and dark chocolate truffles were the right portion after such big mains. Rich, small bites with salted whipped cream that tied everything together. Overall: generous portions, attentive service, great ambiance, and impressive value for Restaurant Week. If I could rate this a 0 I would. I was so exited to try the new girl dinner which has been all over social media. Just to get ceaser salad with MAYONNAISE. Chicken nuggets are soggy with what tastes like sour cream. Usually I'd never leave a review and just take it on the chin but wow. 40 dollars for a disgrace of a meal. Super gross. Don't recommend. Happily found two vegan entrees on the menu and split with my colleague the hummus wrap and tofu sando with truffle fries. Tofu was crispy fried but lacked any flavor, so it was just so-so. The hummus wrap was packed with veggies and at least had some flavor from the garlic in the hummus. The real star was the truffle fries, but to be honest, I've never had a French fry that I didn't like. Everyone seemed to enjoy their lunches including our Admin who has the bahn mi sandwich. Total for my portion of the lunch was just over $25. Only small downside was the barstool seating and thick table so my purse hangar couldn't fit and my backpack ended up hanging awkwardly off my chair. We parked for free in metered street stalls since it was a Sunday. Service by Kim was excellent. She saw us taking photos outside, opened the door for us, and welcomed us in! Friendly and conversational, Kim was very professional and efficient, even though it was only her third day on the job! We got glasses of water which Kim filled without our having to ask! When my Beet Salad arrived, Irene noticed that it was in the "dry" side and asked for more dressing. Kim brought it without hesitation! The Beet Salad was mostly arugula with four goat cheese balls that were lightly crispy on the outside. The balsamic vinaigrette dressing matched the beets well! Just my vibe... You'll see that I use the dotted line in everything I do...in my reviews, text and even my notes as the indirect and simplicity of it expresses my viewpoint just the say I love it and this restaurant is exactly that as well. As many doors closes in these parts of chinatown and downtown this one remains open and though it would be the place for us to chill and relax with something sweet perhaps and to my surprise we did just the opposite. Walking in the first spot you see is the bar which is nice and had the football game playing where neighboring folks know and are planted there watching it all but the real draw for me was the rest of the layout is more of a lounging vibe with plushy chairs and even a sofa I really enjoyed the orange swivel chair and the timing of happy hour (daily 3pm-6pm) though the end of the week had many of the items unavailable all mentioned by our server Kim who was knowledgeable and told us right upfront before my final decision. It was the Szechuan Noodles per her recommendation and I already was eyeing it and this dish is filled with veggies (carrots, baby boy Choy, sprouts) with the crunch of cashews is yummy but it did pack an impressive heat along with the flavorful sauce it was a hearty dish and enjoyed it very much. I absolutely love the vibe here though parking is valet there are lots of options throughout the area and will definitely be back for the happy hour menu as it's pretty impressive and unique along with the seating as I got lost and had no idea of the time spent there. I got the MISO YUZU SALMON which comes with, Bok Choy, Yuzu Miso Glaze, Togarashi, and Ginger Scallion Rice. We tried ordering a couple cocktails like their martinis and something else but was told they were not able to make it because they haven't gotten the ingredients. I ended up just getting a regular dirty martini and my friend got another drink they had available and that was pretty good. I got the miso salmon and that was good. My friends got the Szechuan Noodles and Chicken Sandwich - server warned us those dishes were spicy and they were! Which is a good thing if you like spice which luckily we did. Those dishes were ok though. Food was ok and def could be better but for a lounge/bar I guess it meets expectations. Service was really slow. I visited The Dotted Line for the restaurant week 3 course meal for $26. It was something fun for me and my friends to do. When I checked in, the restaurant was lively. There was live music and patrons dining in. We were seated quickly and given good tips on what to order. I decided on the Caesar salad, alfredo pasta and the panna cotta. The food came out relatively quick. My Caesar salad had little bite sized crouton pieces, which made it easier to eat. I had the alfredo pasta right after and it was so delicious. I decided not to add a protein to my dish, and it was still filling to eat. The soft and savory flavor of the noodles were superb. Lastly, I finished off my meal with the panna cotta. The portion was bite sized, but I still enjoyed the dessert. The fresh fruit coupled with the custard was refreshing after a savory meal. The best way to describe it is... "not too sweet". I enjoyed my meal and give props to the restaurant staff for managing so many tables. It looks like they short-staffed that night. I didn't wait long, but the tables after me had some delays. We were looking for a place in downtown Honolulu and this place was closest to us on OpenTable. It's inside a hotel, but it's easy to find. We were happy to find out it was Honolulu Restaurant Week. We each ordered from the restaurant week menu and got three courses. We ordered the truffle Caesar salad which was simple, but the dressing was good. The mixed greens salad was ok and simple as well and the vinaigrette was good. I was expecting them to take our salad plates before the main course came out, but they did not. We both ordered the bolognese and it says tomato sauce on the menu (typical bolognese), but there was no tomato sauce. We mentioned it to the waiter and he went back to the kitchen and came back and said this is how the chef prepared it and that there was tomato sauce (pictures show there is none). The noodles were very bland and the meat on top was sweet. Again, our server did not take our entree plate before the dessert came out. We had all courses at our table with 4 finished plates that were not cleared. There were two desserts on the restaurant week menu and the one we ordered was not available and we were notified once we finished our entrees. We had a raspberry mousse cake. The cake part of it was dry and inedible. The mousse was ok. We asked for the check and twice we were given the receipt for another table. I had beyond exceptionally great service, even in the last hour. I was amazed being an "outside" guest coming in. Came in from the front entrance (they have one connected to the lobby of AC Hotel Honolulu), and quickly greeted by Cliff! He had great insight on the menu because I had a million questions. He was very patient with me too. I was unsure what to drink because all the selections sounded amazing. He made me (one of) his specialty drinks that he names a "Cucumber Lychee Medley." It was nice, sweet, and very refreshing. On to the food, man.... This is the first time, i went to a restaurant and everything in the menu sounded amazing! I wish I had a bigger stomach. Unfortunately, I just wanted some "light" bites. I decided to go with the Mini Sliders and Truffle Fries. Coming in hot with a bacon shallot aioli takes these sliders to another level. The one downside for me with this slider is that one the menu it says "caramelized onions" that is not prominent and I wish there was a little more. You could barely see it. The truffle fries comes with the same aioli and you could literally put this on anything. Fries were very lightly tossed with the truffle, not heavy. I love that it wasn't overpowering. To end the night, I couldn't go without the creme brulee. Presentation could have been a tad better. The flavor was light, creamy, but torching was not equally distributed. It seemed like just the middle was torched. Aside from 2 minor hiccups in the bag, an overall exceptional experience. Shoutout to Cliff who kills it at the bar and ensures that there was no rush, even though I was the last guy at the bar! I appreciate that! At the last minute decided to check out Open Table app to see what places had availability for Christmas dinner. I had heard about The Dotted Line from a friend who works downtown and said it was good. It is located on left side of Bishop Street about a block makai of Beretania in the former Remington College bldg. If you're worried about parking like I do, I loved that it had valet which was $15 with validation. You pull up to curb in front of bldg and there's a large standing sign indicating valet. Norman was quick and friendly, explaining where the restaurant was located and how payment worked. If you rather forego paying the $15 plus tip, their website shows other parking options and their locations with short walks. Walking into the lobby of hotel it was beautiful! And you turn right and there's the restaurant with a small hostess stand to check in. The place is modern cool with nice placements of tables along window, sides and a semi private one for larger parties. The reason for a lost star is the two-tops were a little too close together along the wall and near the kitchen. The bar area looks fun and friendly with a TV and view of Bishop St. and couches, comfy chairs to create a lounge atmosphere. We were lucky to have Rosie as our server, a sweet and friendly girl who took very good care of us. The bartender had created some specialty holiday drinks, so we enjoyed them - beautifully concocted and garnished starting the evening off right. I ordered the lobster sandwich which was one of the best I've had ever (counting in other states) with plenty of lobster and the roll it was served on wasn't hard on the teeth lol- lightly buttered and with a little crisp to it, it was delicious! Served with choice of truffle fries or salad, I opted for the greens and it was a really nice size with a delicious dressing mixed in. Yum! My friend had the TDL 7 oz burger with all the toppings and it was ono too perfectly cooked and nice size with a big salad. Lounge on couches or sit at a table. Drinks are $2 off at Happy Hour (3-6 pm). With drinks, we ordered Flatbread pizza with arugula. It could have been warmed up a bit and included more sauce. Edamame was passable. Sliders were pretty good. Things were great until we saw a smaller size cockroach run over our table. We wiped the table with handi wipes before we ate anything. While the food was delicious, the service left much to be desired. Our waiter, Helton, did not provide the level of attentiveness I would expect from your establishment. Some specific concerns include: * He did not offer us drinks, and I had to carry my own menu to the table. * Water was only provided after I specifically requested it. * When our food was served (a regular breakfast with eggs, potatoes, toast, and banana bread), no condiments like butter, jam, or ketchup were offered. * Helton never checked back to see if we needed anything or how we were enjoying our meal. * When we inquired about alcohol and another menu item, we were told alcohol was not available until 11 AM. However, no alternative recommendations, like coffee, orange juice, or other options, were offered to us. * There was no explanation about the menu or the buffet, which left us feeling confused about our options and the dining process. It's worth mentioning that at the time, we were the only guests dining in the establishment aside from a single lady having coffee. Given the lack of other diners, the inattentive service was particularly surprising and disappointing. Additionally, we couldn't help but feel slightly discriminated against, possibly because we are a younger-looking couple. The service we received lacked the professionalism and courtesy we would have expected dining in a hotel establishment. Food: -Started off with the Cesar salad in which was good but you can't really mess that up. We had the bolognese pasta and the Alfredo with chicken: -Bolognese was alright at best, light and flavorful. -The Alfredo is where the review comes in. Where do I start, noodles undercooked and stuck together some parts weren't edible. Chicken was flavorful but not worth $12 extra dollars. My boyfriend and I recently had the pleasure of dining here for breakfast. Our server, Maria, was very sweet and attentive to our needs :) The breakfast selection was casual and easy to choose from. In addition, they had a variety of small plates and spreads offered continental style-- our favorite was the smoked salmon :3. The avocado toast was also amazing-- broke da mouth! As we were there, Marina, the manager of the establishment, checked in with us and was also hospitable and caring, her warm smile and friendly demeanor set the tone for a wonderful dining experience. The atmosphere was clean and modern, cannot complain! Overall, we highly recommend for breakfast. The combination of good food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a must-visit spot. Arguably one of the worst dining experiences in the decade we've been dining in Honolulu. I woke up the next day with food poisoning. The friendly bartender/ host took us to our table and it went downhill from there. We ordered the Kale Quinoa Salad to share as our first course but they ran out of kale so they substituted mixed greens. The restaurant was not busy but the server forgot to take our menus and give us plates for our salad after we asked and reminded them. The roasted chick peas were stale and inedible. We ate the greens and left all the garbanzo beans on the plate. We ordered the Szechuan noodles and steak frites medium rare. It was a huge red flag when our server questioned my choice of ordering steak medium rare. When the entree came, it all made sense. The steak came out blood rare/raw and the Szechuan noodles were so soggy and overly seasoned with spice we couldn't eat it despite having a high heat tolerance. The fries were the only thing edible. The meal was so bad we didn't bother ordering dessert and just wanted to leave. The only thing this place has going for it, is the one man live musician which added some ambiance to an otherwise disastrous meal. So disappointed considering how promising the menu was. Save your money and go somewhere else. There are way better options nearby. read more

Coming to ac hotel is a little bit difficult. Luckily I live in the area so I could just walk down but my friend parked at a municipal parking a few blocks away. This place looks nice from the outside but the food wasn't that great. We went for happy hour and it was pricey as if you went to a regular place in kakaako. The tacos were bland and the truffle fries weren't great. Maybe add Trader Joe's truffle seasoning... it was pricey but I can't imagine it at regular price. Service was good but it was pretty empty so not much people to attend to. read more
