Looking out from bar side

Frankie was an amazing server! He gave us descriptions and answered all questions. He was prompt with bringing beverages and brought water with him as we were seated. THAT is a great idea!! The place was not busy on a Sunday afternoon around 3:30pm, which was great for us because we were hungry. I love how they have large booths that face the bar where you can see multiple televisions above the bar. The open-air space is wonderful as well. If we hadn't been outside all day, it would have been our choice; but we needed the cooler area. The collards were not as tender as they should be (for someone who cooks them); another 30min in the pot would have done wonders. I don't feel their chicken is 'fried' the ordinary way, but maybe pressure fried (think of the original bucket place). It's flavorful & juicy, but NOT crispy. We did have one issue, but Frankie promptly got it corrected. The hot honey that accompanies the chicken is perfect, if you like that. It gives off the sweetness without too much heat like some others. The spoon bread was outstanding! Needed nothing but the spoon that came with it. The herb dusted skinny fries..YUMMMM! And dipped in either the garlic aioli or the ranch..I couldn't make up my mind which I liked more! We'd return, if we were in the area & in the mood for chicken.

I went with my sister for some drinks. We were immediately greeted and decided to sit at the bar. The place was casual with lots of lighting and more intimate tables. Fortunately I found some great parking. The staff were knowledgeable and readily available to take our orders.

I sometimes come to Charlotte to meet with my clients and found the Eagle last spring. The food is very good. -Fried chicken. What they are known for. Really good. -Spoon bread. Amazing. I got an extra order to bring back home to Los Angeles for my kids. -Burnt ends- very good. -Shrimp and grits- very good. -collared greens- very good. One area they could work on is table service. Our table was a booth behind the bar where we were told the bartender would be our server- except the bar tender seemed busy and didnt stop by often. Maybe they had a server out sick that night?

I love this place !!! It's my little Sunday afternoon lunch spot . There is plenty of outdoor seating and the service is always amazing! They even have $5 shot specials every day of the week . Sundays are teremana . I had the spicy chicken dip which is a their take on a buffalo chicken dip . The blue cheese and Gouda mix are a perfect combo. I also got the cider of the month which was sycamore brewing transfusion cider . It taste like a cranberry berry cider .

The spot is cute. One of my favorite thing is that it is located in a real big plaza making parking easy. The space is comfy and cozy The staff was very nice and helpful. What did I have: The cornbread was delicious. It was moist and perfect level of sweetness. I would go back for it. 10/10 Chicken wings: wings was good. It was seasoned well. 8/10 My drinks delicious. Overall. I definitely encourage others to visit this spot.

We had a nice experience at The Eagle in Charlotte. The atmosphere was just okay, but what really stood out was the friendly and attentive service--our server was great, and everything arrived incredibly fast. We started with the spicy chicken dip and chips, which had great flavor but was a little too spicy for my taste. The hush puppies were a solid appetizer as well. For my entrée, I had the quarter white meat chicken, which was decent but nothing extraordinary. However, the sweet potato crock was hands-down the highlight of my meal--absolutely delicious! My only real complaint was the music. While I don't mind rock music, it was overly loud, making it hard to enjoy conversation. If they toned it down a bit, the dining experience would be much more enjoyable. Overall, great service and solid food with a couple of standout dishes. I'd definitely return--hopefully to a slightly quieter playlist!

I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this place yet. The Eagle is a staple in my household. Craving good southern food? The Eagle. Hankering for fried chicken? The Eagle delivers. I've tried a variety of dishes from their menu and have always enjoyed them. There's not much to dislike here. Expect flavorful dishes at reasonable prices. Our go-to order is usually the chicken, paired with an assortment of sides. Recently, I tried their mashed potatoes, and they instantly became my favorite side dish. Give it a try! You won't be disappointed.

Sweet potato casserole

Fried chicken with hot honey sauce, collard greens with ham hocks, sweet potato casserole and a drinky drink to wash it all down. I have always loved their chicken. Marinated to perfection. Even the breast is as moist as the leg, and coated in a hot honey sauce (optional).....omg. Heavy on the vinegar and onions but it all balances out. Some of the best greens in Charlotte. The sweet potato casserole was okay. It seemed like it was missing a touch of something. The blackberry lemonade was a thirst quencher on a hot day. #GratuityAdded #cltdates #charlottelifestyle #brinedchicken #TheEagleClt #friedchickenday #foodstagram #instafood #southerneats #foodtraveller #drankas #foodtour #drinkydrink #Denzel #foodies #travelfood #LoSo # charlottesgotalot #foodlovers #OfflineCLT #parisolympics #travelblogger #cltBloggers #OfflineCharlotte #foodtrip #lovefood #clttravels #SouthendClt #foodiesofclt #eatdrinkclt

We stopped here for dinner on our way to the Charlotte airport. I'm glad we chose this place. Frankie waited on our table and was very nice. We ordered the hush puppies, pickled green beans, drumsticks, grilled cheese w/fries, grits and mashed potatoes. Yes, we ordered a lot bc everything sounded so good! We also each had one beer. The food arrived quickly and was hot. Everything we had was excellent. It was a nice stop before heading home and we'd definitely go back. The price was right too.

I have been longing to return here after a fab Yelp party last year. (Plenty of my friends have gone, but not us.) I took my husband here for our anniversary lunch and did not regret a thing. The young lady who waited on us was very pleasant and helpful. We skipped the cocktails, but had delicious draft beers instead. For an appetizer, we had the spicy chicken dip. We could not stop eating it. It paired great with the beers. We both had the fried chicken (he had white, I had dark). My husband swears the collard greens here are the best ever. He was a bit disappointed in the horseradish mashed potatoes, but I enjoyed them. The macaroni & cheese is absolutely divine. Literally could eat that every day and not regret a thing. The fried chicken was the star though. Completely cooked through but incredibly juicy. The skin was crisp and flavorful. My husband tried the hot honey (served on the side) but, like me, preferred the chicken without. We will continue to tell our friends about The Eagle and their awesome food. Looking forward to returning!

I really enjoyed my visit. They have a nice space with booths that fit up to 6 comfortably. They have space for more private parties. They also offer outside seating. They have a great beer and whisky list. The cocktail and wine lists were small but includes really good options. I went with the Bourbon Punch and absolutely yes! It was a great size, I could actually taste the bourbon, and it was simply delicious. As for the food, we started with the Hushpupies. They were fresh and hot. We smashed those in a heartbeat. I recommend skipping the Mac n cheese. They weren't bad, just nothing special and came out Luke warm. The drum sticks were really good and the spicy honey drizzle adds the perfect kick. I would absolutely get those again. The collards were pretty tasty, too. Overall, everything was really good and I would visit again.

This was my first time taking my son to visit The Eagle Food & Beer Hall in Charlotte, NC. **Parking:** The parking is located at the back of the establishment. We went in the evening when most of the stores that share the lot were closed, so there was plenty of parking available. **Inside:** If you enter through the back, you and your guest will need to walk through the restaurant to the front for the hostess. The hostess last Saturday was really friendly, making for a great introduction to the restaurant. The staff was excellent at refilling our drinks and explaining the menu to us. Keep in mind that everything is served separately and meant to be shared. The restaurant is large, so the noise level was balanced. However, I can imagine it getting loud. One downside is that if you are seated around the bar area, you cannot see the TV unless you are 5'2" or shorter, which detracts from the experience. This was not well thought out when the area was designed. The food was hot when served. The spoonbread was the highlight of the meal--I could eat it by itself, it was so good. Overall, the experience was pleasant, and I will definitely return on a future visit.

The eagle has become a recurring staple since opening. Solid food, good service. The hush puppies alone are worth the visit.

Set in a charming old home, the aesthetic is incredibly welcoming with a quaint downstairs bar, a gorgeous outdoor patio, and cozy seating upstairs--there truly isn't a bad seat in the house. There are so many standout dishes that it can be hard to choose, but my ultimate go-to is the seared ahi tuna salad. I don't know how they make that sesame and shoyu dressing, but it is one of a kind! I also highly recommend the hummus, the baked marinated Vermont goat cheese, "The Usual," and any of their steak options. Definitely don't skip dessert! On my last trip, I tried the strawberry shortcake, and it was divine. The goat cheese and cherry cheesecake and the rotating sorbets are also phenomenal. If you're grabbing a drink at the bar, be sure to check out their signature Matilda Wong, though they also make a stellar dirty martini!

The excellent service continued with our server Tony. He made great suggestions and helped us make sure to guide us through the menu as we aren't familiar with Peruvian cuisine. Mac's sits in the heart of South End and shares the neighborhood with several busy bars and nightlife spots. Parking can be a bit of an adventure, but they do have dedicated lots nearby. Once you're there, the setup is great: a large dining room, plenty of picnic-table patio seating, and my favorite option--a seat at the outdoor bar where the inside bar opens through a service window to the patio. The bartender, Alyssa, was fantastic. Friendly, knowledgeable, and patient while I stared at the giant menu trying to figure out what I wanted. When I asked for recommendations, she immediately suggested the burnt ends, BBQ baked beans, and Mexican street corn. Excellent call. The blackberry seasonal hard cider she recommended was delicious and paired beautifully with the meal. My only surprise was the price. At nearly $9, it was more than I expected for a cider, and I wish I had asked beforehand. The burnt ends arrived with bright pickled red onions that added the perfect acidic balance. The flavor was excellent--smoky, rich, and satisfying. That said, they leaned heavily toward the fatty side. The deeper I got into the serving, the more rendered fat I encountered compared to meat. Delicious? Yes. Light? Absolutely not. The BBQ baked beans were exactly what you want from a barbecue joint. The Mexican street corn was a standout and a refreshing contrast to all the richness. My only critique was that the burnt ends weren't served quite as hot as I would have liked, and by the end of the meal, the richness became overwhelming. That's probably more on me for ordering burnt ends at 9 p.m. than on Mac's. The final bill came to about $37 before tip, which felt a little steep for a solo barbecue dinner and cider. Looking back, I'd probably visit during lunch. Their weekday lunch specials around $10 look like one of the best values in South End. Would I come back? Absolutely. The service was warm, the recommendations were spot on, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the food delivered exactly what a barbecue craving calls for. Next time, I'll arrive earlier, bring a bigger appetite, and maybe save the burnt ends for lunchtime. Life is too short not to eat well, Charlotte. If you're exploring South End and craving barbecue, Mac's Speed Shop is worth a stop.
