Service was great! I sat at the bar and was greeted immediately. I had the chicken dip which I thought I could get the pimento dip. it it's seasonal. Reccomended by a friend, we came on a Saturday afternoon. Lucky for us it wasn't busy when we arrived. Seemed like we bothered the hostess by coming who was sitting at the bar. The place is nice, love the booths and the TVs located in the bar area. Good menu with plenty choices. The prices weren't bad either. We started with the hush puppies that came with a comeback sauce. They tasted ok, average. No sweetness and the sauce didn't help. I got the chicken blt. It was huge and looked delicious!! The bread was crispy and buttery. It was a bit tall so you struggle taking a bite and then it falls apart. The chicken was very good. The shrimp and grits came out with plenty shrimp in it. The grits were thick and I couldn't taste the cheese. The shrimp alone was the only thing good. There was a New Orleans gravy on top that did not compliment the food. I only ate a few bites and that was of the shrimp. Our server was not attentive at all. Never checking in on us. We also had the 1/4 white meat chicken. It was hot. If your thinking crispy chicken, do not. The skin was soft but flavorful. It came with the hot honey which we preferred not to use. Brought the sandwich home and ate it later. I wish we took pictures but the food was so good that we didn't even think to stop haha. I got the chicken BLT, it was delicious but I wish I got it with grilled chicken since it was a lot of bread. But if you like fried chicken sandwiches then you won't be disappointed! The spicy chicken dip had blue cheese crumbles to elevate beyond a normal buffalo dip. The peach jalapeño margarita had a little kick but the peach was little too sweet for it. Mac and cheese was ok, but the collards were vinegary and had great heat! The interior is very cozy, lots of wood features, you feel private and it's not really noisy. Our service was incredible and attentive. Dang! When you get tangy, spicy, sweet, savory and southern all in one place. Let me just tell you that Chicken BLT sandwich is the stuff. Flavor all the way through the breading to the wall of the chicken. Spicy ain't my cup of tea but had to try it. The bacon was thick and meaty topped with fresh tomatoes and lettuces with a spread of avocado to make the perfect sandwich. Them Mash potatoes with horseradish and gravy was different but delicious giving you a tangy savory taste. My eagle long Island iced tea had me feeling good. Can I just say, I love this place. After a disastrous experience at Tupelo Honey, The Eagle really came through. Called in a pick up order. Everything was ready in ten minutes. Courteous staff and well organized flow. A perfectly seamless handoff. And, of course, the food was delicious as always. Summer half salad is huge with quality ingredients like pecans, pickled blueberries, and feta. Throw a chicken cutlet on top of that bad boy and you're going to be halfway to cloud nine. She split some of our beverage and didn't clean it up off the table until about ten minutes after and we had to ask for it to be done. I spotted this place thanks to a fellow Yelp Elite's Instagram post. I'm a fan of the Southend area and always down to try some good chicken, so here we are. Please note that parking is what it is here. If you've got parallel parking skills, there are spaces right in front which was quite convenient. We arrived shortly after 4PM and it was already lively inside. The vibe is cool and chic but comfortable. Warm wood everywhere and plenty of TVs. Friends night out or a casual date would be equally appropriate here. The menu is a single page; if you were looking for variety, you came to the wrong place. If you are a chicken fan, you have arrived. Our waitress was on top of things from start to finish. We began with blackberry lemonade (made in house) and brown sugar bacon (THICK). Both arrived quickly and were gone just as fast. For our meals we had the chicken sandwich and a winter salad topped with fried chicken breast. The sandwich had an amazing slaw on it (for the record, I'm not a slaw fan) and house made pickles. The salad was dwarfed by the chicken breast but I expected no less. The chicken was definitely the star of the show. The breast was so tender and moist I could cut it with my fork. The brine and the breading married to make a memorable piece of chicken that I will compare other chicken to from now on. I can't forget the sides. Spoonbread (skillet cornbread) topped with maple butter and Collards just like home cooked with ham hocks. Both were a perfect compliment to the meal and each other. I got to try this newer place recently and had a good experience, even though I was just along for a drink. The service was fast and friendly with a cool environment. Parking was in the deck and easy to manuevvr. I tried the mac and cheese, sausage and kale dip, and a bite of the chicken sandwich. I liked everything! Eaggglleeeeeee(scrubs reference). Finally, we can say Charlotte has a great fried chicken restaurant. I've only been here once but i can promise you'll I'll be back almost weekly. The Eagle's fried chicken, both white and dark, was absolutely delicious, juicy and well seasoned. Their breading has a little spice to it before you even add their hot honey. Side note: ask for an order of chicken gravy to dip the chicken in Their cornbread does have pieces of corn in it which I'm not typically crazy about but this stuff with the maple butter is so good it doesn't make a difference. The Mac n cheese was fantastic! I'd say it's a must order every time if there wasn't so many other sides I wanted to try! It's creamy and rich. You can't go wrong ordering it. My first visit to The Eagle went very well. First and foremost, free covered parking behind the restaurant! This is helpful in a busy area. The menu is varied but my guess is that 3/4 of it is reserved for alcoholic beverages. Hmmm. Seems food was an afterthought. I enjoyed the Blackberry Lemonade. We ordered a pitcher that had plenty of ice in it. Our glasses were also full of ice. So, I was pretty much iced out of the full taste of this adult beverage. My meal included the sweet potato soufflé that was pretty dark in color. The marshmallows on top were browned. I give the dish a 3/5. The succotash, however, was a big hit for me. The ingredients are corn, edamame, green beans, bacon, bell pepper. The mixture of the flavors was just right. I give the succotash a 5/5. I also ordered the Blackened Shrimp Po-Boy served on a nice, soft bun. It was delicious. I give it it 5/5. Service was great as there were plenty of friendly staff members on hand. Let me point out that the restaurant serves no dessert. This was a first for me. Not that I needed any. I wanted to be tempted. This was not to be. Reservations are highly recommended or you will have to wait. They have an outdoor patio for dining and the two garage-like doors were wide open for a nice flow of indoor and outdoor air. read more

The Eagle was a last minute decision, that turned out to be one of the greatest decisions my girlfriend ever made on eating out. The ambiance was very pleasant and had a rustic old western feel with a touch of elegance. The bar area had a very open feel to it with booths surrounding it creating a great environment if you like to people watch while eating. We actually sat away from the bar by the (garage door) window facing the sunset down south blvd. It was a beautiful view! Now for the food! We ordered the hush puppies as an appetizer. They were superb with the classic taste but not too oily. It was filled with corn, jalapeños, and cheddar! The comeback sauce was 8/10. It gave it a complete new taste to the typical hush puppy. Slightly spicy but not too bad! For the main entree, we ordered the spoon bread (corn bread), Mac n cheese, and another order of the hush puppies and the 1/2 chicken with their signature honey hot sauce. The 1/2 chicken was awesome, juicy, light, flavorful, amything a fried chicken is supposed to be! The breast was large and cooked VERY well! The SPOON BREAD! OMG! Typically cornbread is pretty dry and lackluster but "spoon bread" was absolutely to DIE FOR! It was super soft, fluffy, crispy in the right areas and very buttery. I usually stay away from butter but I would sit and order this to eat by itself. With a beer. It's AMAZEBALLS! The mac n cheese was underwhelming but still a good pick up. Very creamy and thick with spiral noodles. Better than Leroy and fox. To me. Also ordered the cole slaw which was mediocre. The vegetables were fresh, but slightly too much Mayo. I also like my cole slaw sweet and on fried fish so I may be biased. We got alcoholic blackberry lemonade which lacked alcohol content but very good and very tart. Also ordered the Birdsong Rewind lager which was very light and pleasant coming from one who alternates between IPAs and ciders. Our server was great! The whole experience was incredible. For starters, we were seated within seconds of arriving, then our waitress came to say hi to us seconds after we were seated, and so it continued. The drinks and food came out promptly and man, was it DELICIOUS! Hands-down officially the best friend chicken in Charlotte! Our favorite dishes were the chicken (of course), sweet potatoes and spoon bread. Our least favorite were the collards. The vinegar flavor was overwhelming...maybe a heavy handed cook? The area is nice and well developed and had an entrance from the parking garage. The bar is large and spacious and the staff were protected at all time and everyone that works there was extremely nice. It's a beer hall and they had plenty of choices with what I must say is the best prices in all of Charlotte! While I was there chitchatting with my friend I decided to order some food and man I must say that their chicken sandwich was AWESOME!!! it was served on a wooden plate with coleslaw and the bartender Phillip was very gracious serving me and friend and gave of good conversation. I've been wanting to go here for a while and finally made it. I ordered the grilled cheese which had a variation of cheeses, Granny Smith apples, and an apricot preserve. It was a very interesting and unique taste. Talk about mindful eating. I savored each bite. They have the option of ordering half or full salads which I ordered a half Southern Chopped. I wasn't a big fan of the lemon thyme ranch as it threw off the taste for me personally. Unfortunately, it was tossed in it so I dealt with it. I would say don't expect a wide range of options. They are niched down and known for their chicken. The options are also a la carte. They have outside seating available which is a nice area. The service wasn't as fast as I was used to in a restaurant. I remember wondering where my waitress was to order, I never got a refill on my water (cup was empty), and then I had to wait forever to request the check.
