Found this spot on Yelp while visiting Charlotte, NC for business and I'm glad I experienced it! We walk in around 4pm on a Saturday afternoon and the place wasn't crowded at all; because I had seen the big booths on Yelp of course I wanted to sit at one, but the host told us "all of the booths are reserved" sounded questionable but we went with it, being sat at a low top takin a section where no one else was. My guy inquired with our server who told us no the booths shouldn't be reserved and the same host comes back saying "you wanted a booth"?! Um yeah that's what we asked for and he moved us to one. The first 10 minutes in this place were tense and we were seconds from leaving because why does it take all of that to get seated where you desire?! Please don't lie to your customer! Victor our server truly saved the day, his energy was upbeat, he chatted with us about our likes and dislikes and offered his favorites off the menu, gave insight about portion sizes etc. he gave cocktail recommendations as well which we appreciated. He consistently checked on us to make sure we were good and satisfied. Once we were completely stuffed lol we told Victor how we almost left due to the host not allowing us to sit at a booth, because the host was young we asked Victor to try and approach him as a peer before taking the issue to management. Victor was visibly disturbed by our exchange with the host and assured us he would address it, he apologized and we assured him that he made our experience 5 stars well he and the food! The fried chicken was well seasoned and hot and fresh, super juicy and the spicy honey complimented it well. I enjoyed the greens, Mac and cheese and spoon bread! No complaints, we had to take a walk after eating there lol, this place is a great spot in a trendy neighborhood, but you definitely feel southern comfort, I would definitely try them out again! read more

First thing i noticed was the attire was beautiful, and felt very relaxed, not too crowded. My waitress was phenomenal and polite, our food was the fried chicken with 2 sides of mac, biscuits, and cornbread! It was alll fantastic And i would come back shortly! read more

My friends absolutely adored the chicken sandwiches! The hush puppies were great as well but it would've been better if there were more. Wow. Very very delicious chicken and sides. They brine their chicken for over 10 hours and you can taste how tender it is. Plus they offer many dips for the chicken that pair so well with it. For sides, Mac n cheese is a must order, and the sausage and kale dip was also great although a bit salty. We also got the collard greens which were good but nothing special, and the fries which were great too but not one of the best fries I've ever had. Overall, definitely must get the chicken and Mac n cheese. We came for dinner on a Friday and had an hour and a half wait so plan accordingly! Had an awesome experience at the Eagle! Came on a Friday night and was pretty busy. We started with Ranch Water drinks that were very good and big for only $12. We split a bunch of items that included the fried chicken sandwhich (my favorite), Mac and cheese, kale salad, sweet potato, and casserole skillets. I had a great dinning experience at The Eagle Food & Beer Hall. Our waiter was excellent and offered suggestions from the menu. He was also very attentive, checking on us often. We ordered the house made hush puppies that were filled with corn, cheddar and jalapeños. They were fresh, hot and tasted delicious. We ordered the fried chicken and shared a couple sides. We had the succotash, mac and cheese, and the shrimp and grits. I think the shrimp and grits were my favorite. The others were good as well. Found this on a very rainy and cold day in Charlotte. The atmosphere is fun, and can be loud at times. The service we had was pretty decent. Our server was polite and explained the menu to us before ordering. I ordered the Chicken BLT with succotash and fries as a side. My husband ordered the dark meat fried chicken with collards and spoon bread. For an app, we ordered the hush puppies (that had cheese and jalapeños in the batter). We ordered an extra side of Mac n cheese. The food was INCREDIBLE!!! I honestly think I could drink the spicy honey they serve with the fried chicken. The sandwich is MASSIVE, and is a meal in itself. The avocado relish on it was superb. There wasn't anything I did not enjoy. My favorite thing was the hush puppies. The flavor cannot be described in words...you just have to taste it for yourself. We also ordered the Blackberry Lemonade (alcohol drink)...and just a warning-as they are addictive. Love this place. Best fried chicken in south end!! The sweet potato casserole is to die for.

I tried the Eagle for the first time last night with a group of four. We arrived around 6PM for a 6:30PM reservation, and were seated around 6:20PM, so they run fairly on schedule during the weekends. It's a popular place, so be sure to make reservations. There's a large, free parking deck with an entrance off South Blvd. just before the Eagle if you're headed south. This is a fairly large place with a huge bar. We sat at a booth facing the bar, so it was a good place to people watch and look out on the bar and the street. Even though it was pretty packed while we were eating, the large space gives enough room for the noise to spread out, so it's easy to talk to your group. Our group ordered the chicken BLT and the fried chicken (one half and one whole chicken), as well as two spoon breads, a side of collards, jelly biscuits, mac and cheese and hushpuppies. Everything was delicious, and the prices are very reasonable for the area and quality. You could get away with ordering only one spoon bread for a group of four, but, other than that, I'd say this was the right amount of sides for the group to finish during the meal. We ended up taking home about a half chicken and most of the BLT. Fried chicken - flavorful seasoning, crispy and thin skin, not oily, not fatty, not very salty. This is pretty much perfect fried chicken. It beats Bojangles, KFC and Price's (if you remember them). If you order a half or whole chicken, don't worry - you get individual fried pieces, not an entire fried bird. Collards - as a southerner, I give them 10/10. Cooked with pork pieces and probably pork broth, and with a bit of vinegar. Spoon bread - served in a small cast iron with honey butter melted on top. Great corn bread, but keep in mind the top will be sweet. Mac and cheese - creamy, but not Velveeta; baked and delicious. I didn't have the hushpuppies or biscuits, but my group said they were very good as well. I'd definitely come back here. It's my new favorite southern restaurant. read more

Josh ended up being our server and was very attentive. He was very kind, and thorough. A majority of the restaurant experience is of course the food. But a lot of it is also based on the staff. Stopped in for lunch. Charles provided wonderful service. Fried chicken BLT and herb grilled chicken sandwiches. Might be the best chicken sandwich we have ever had. All the sides sounded awesome. Ok I would give this place 3.5 stars because the atmosphere is cool, blues music and I could see it being a nice place to chill because of the indoor/outdoor feel but the food was just ok for me. The chicken was ok but lacked flavor. Our server was great and checked on us often. The Mac and cheese was runny and lukewarm and the collard greens were cold. The drinks however were a hit! We had the bourbon punch and it was good and strong! I would likely return but probably more for the drinks and atmosphere than the food. read more

This is such a cool hangout spot. I love how open it is in the front. Definitely a spot to go to in the spring and summer. The hot honey is sooo crazy good. I put that stuff on everything lol. I've had this years ago in Louisville when I lived there for a hot minute and it was the best fried chicken I've ever had. Glad I was able to have it again and enjoy it with a couple great friends. We shared a full chicken and although not exactly as I remembered, it's still amazing fried chicken. The chicken could have been a little more crispy, I think we might have had a batch that sat out a little longer but regardless the flavor is all there, the honey has a hint of spice and everything nice. My boyfriend and I stopped in for a quick bite to eat. The restaurant was pretty quiet and not busy at all so we were sat pretty quickly. Our waitress was friendly and helpful as we picked thru the menu to figure out what sides we wanted (as the meat choices seemed to just mainly consist of chicken lol) we ended up with the buffalo chicken dip. I wasn't really a fan. Very rich and the cheese sauce almost reminded me of cheezwiz for some reason. But the waitress rectified this and removed it without issue. Aside from that, everything else was good. The fried chicken had a mild sweetness to it but it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet and it was nice and moist inside. The fries and collard greens were also pretty good. The mac and cheese was....doable but it's definitely not a must have for me. My siblings and I met at The Eagle for lunch, as it was a central location and sounded interesting. At first, the menu seemed very limited, but we liked the variety of sides, so we each found an entree and ordered a bunch of sides to share. The fried chicken was as good as my brother had ever had, my sister loved the chopped salad, and I thought the grilled cheese with 3 cheeses, great bread, and thin slices of green apple, with delicious apricot preserves on the side. The succotash, cheese grits, black eye peas, and collards were delicious! Our waitress was well familiar with the menu and gave excellent advice and service! Our go-to place for southern food! Spoonbread, hushpuppies, Mac & cheese, and 1/2 chicken are all must orders when visiting! Pro tip, you can add shrimp to your Mac and cheese as your meal! I always reserve a table online and enjoy sitting in the round booths at the bar. It's a spacious place with inside and some outside seating. Decent amount of TVs to catch the latest game and parking is available through the garage. We have been here many times and will surely be back!! read more
