Dining at the Eagle is always a good idea. The chicken is so tip tier here and so juicy, and flavorful. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and added the chicken to it. I am not a fan of the apricot jam so I removed that but I am keeping the three cheeses! That grilled cheese also has thin slices of Granny Smith apples on it, trust me, keep them on there! It's so delicious. I sat at the bar and the bartender was so attentive and kept giving me napkins for the spicy honey that kept getting on my fingertips. It wasn't too crowded but I was able to watch some of the late night football game at the bar and hear the volume perfectly fine. The Eagle has never missed. Always love coming here. It can get really busy during the week, especially when there is warmer weather so expect a wait. I have had the spoonbread which is insane, it tastes soo good. The hushpuppies were a fave as well. Their chicken sandwich, delish. The fries with the aioli...love it so much. Parking can be limited, depending on the day and time as you have to park on the street. Bathrooms always clean and our bartender was great. Instead, I experienced something completely different ..and unfortunately, not for the first time. After being seated, I was told "maybe Lulu" would assist me shortly. I made eye contact with multiple servers, yet not one greeted me, checked on me, or even offered water. Ten minutes passed nothing. Feeling overlooked, I carried my menu to the bar, where only the bartender, a manager, and one guest were present. Despite clear eye contact several times, I was once again ignored for another five minutes. At that point, I decided it was best to leave. Before walking out, I asked a young lady if the manager was in; she pointed to the woman at the bar and said, "She's right there." I waited near the door for a few minutes, but no one came over, no one spoke up, and no one cared to acknowledge that a customer was asking for assistance. This isn't my first disappointing visit. It's the third time I've been treated this way. It's no longer a coincidence, it's a pattern. As a paying customer who simply wanted to enjoy a quick lunch, being repeatedly ignored and dismissed is unacceptable. Indianapolis has no shortage of great restaurants with teams that value their guests..unfortunately, The Eagle on Mass has shown time and again that genuine service isn't on their menu. read more

There was enough to share---family style kinda. Chicken was very edible. Sides were fine the atmosphere is pretty relaxed. There is a bar and also outside seating. Price was probably on par with other food in the Mass Ave neighborhood. It might be nice to have a few more choices as it seemed to be slightly limited. Two people could probably share three sides and leave full. I think the two of us were ok with the quantity, but I think we could have crammed a little more if it was in front of us. The Eagle is one of my favorite restaurants in Indy. The fried chicken is the star of the menu, and it never disappoints with its seasoning and light breading. The Mac and cheese is my favorite side, and-- as a Mac and cheese connoisseur-- one of my favorite Macs out there. There's a large patio which is great during the warm months, and the inside typically has plenty of room. I would recommend going during a slower time because the wait does get really long at peak times! Service is always fast and great. I bring my friends from out of town just to eat the Mac and cheese--it's that good. PERFECTLY al dente, with creamy cheese mmmm. The chicken of course is delicious, but come for the salads too! The kale salad is my favorite. AND you cannot miss the homemade biscuits. I am drooling just thinking about it. If you're here with a large group, just get the group set dinner. It's so worth it. Not sure where they get their shrimp, but it's flavorful the way season it and super fresh! And I can't forget the biscuits. Just get 'em and thank me later. **Warning** I will not be held responsible for the impact to your waistline! Taste cautiously! You've been warned. The atmosphere gives bar vibes in the fact that it's kinda loud. But there's outdoor seating (when weather permits) that might help a bit. One critique I have. For some reason, the entry way always has a foul smell to me. Thankfully it doesn't resonate throughout the restaurant, but just noticed it the last time that all 3 times, I've been, there's been a foul smell by the entrance. I sure wished they fixed that. Haven't been here in years, but it's my friends favorite place so here we are. When they said 40-75min wait, I was surprised! Now part of that was due to the outside patio being closed. As always I added my name and since the bar was first come first serve then I headed over and it was very open. Grabbed a drink while we waited for a table. The bartenders were on top of it. I got the Negroni sour and it was more sour than Negroni but it was ok. Finally got a table that opened and it was a communal table but now I see that they have added dividers, which kinda work but still weird. Our server was great, came around often enough. The food was bland. My chicken sandwich didn't have much flavor going on. I will say that the chicken was tender but could've used more crisp to it. The fries were golden and had a good crunch which I love but also not much flavor, even though they looked seasoned. I sat at the bar during lunch and they weren't busy at all. They feature a menu which centers around their fried chicken, they have related sides, and sandwiches too. I opted for a ¼ chicken dark meat, which actually comes with 2 legs and a thigh for $10, which I thought was a great deal for a "restaurant" style fried chicken. I also ordered a side of cole slaw with it. The fried chicken was excellent! The meat was very moist and flavorful and I loved the breading too, which was very light. It comes with their hot honey, which actually had a nice little kick to it and was a nice compliment to the chicken. Their cole slaw was excellent! Avoid the server Raylee (Rayley) or however you spell her name!!!! She is terrible! We sat at the bar connected to the patio, and as Heather the Bartender was explaining some drinks to us, Raylee proceeds to come in from the patio and completely interrupts Heather to complain about something in her personal life! NOT EVEN WORK RELATED!!! Heather had to stop talking to us to respond to Raylee! She leaves, then five minutes later walks back in and tells the manager, "OMG, that lady outside just pissed me off! I asked if she needed water and she said, "No." Then I go back outside and she asked me for two glasses of water! WTH, thats so annoying. I can't stand it when customers don't know what they want!" Raylee said all of this crap right in front of us. And loud! The manager hadn't the where with all to tell Raylee to keep it to herself and not let customers hear her bitching. As I was leaving I saw it was literally only one table on the patio that Raylee was attending to. I told them, "Hey, have you guys paid your check yet?" They said, "No." I said, "Well your server has been doing nothing but talking shit about you inside, so I wouldn't even tip her. The Eagle was a nice restaurant in the Downtown area of Indianapolis. I started the meal ordering a strawberry cider, which was bottled. Personally I found it to be too sweet, and would have rather ordered a beer on tap. We got our entrees which were all a generous portion. The grilled cheese had sliced apples inside and was served with a jam on the side. Bread was crispy and the cheese was melty and indulgent. The Mac and cheese came out hot and was cheesy and good. The breadcrumb topping added a nice crunch. Lastly, I got the dark meat fried chicken served with their homemade hot honey. The skin was perfect golden brown and the chicken was tender and not fatty. Overall, this place had solid American pub food and I would go back to watch televised games as we got to watch one of the BIG tournament games right in front of our table. Service was great as they kept refilling our waters and checking in with us. The ambiance inside is ok but the outdoor seating on the corner is nice. The picnic tables are a bit awkward though and have u leaning way in to the table to eat . The chicken legs are really delicious and fresh. They need more sauce options though. A lot of the menu items are very spicy so if u don't like heat maybe not ur pace.
