I live in San Diego and have been to Indianapolis twice. For a total of 6 days those two times. I have eaten here 4 times everyone knows how much I love this place I was in town this last weekend and got to enjoy it and everything was sooo amazing. Both bartenders were great I don't know there names but one worked Thursday night and one worked Sunday brunch hours. We sat in the back bar by the patio no wait if you sat at the bar. Whenever I have a craving for fried chicken, I come to The Eagle. Their fried chicken is out of this world and the spiced honey is to die for! The customer service is excellent as always every time I go here for lunch or dinner. Tyrone, our server, was very attentive to our group and did a wonderful job providing us good service. The speciality cocktails are very good from what I have heard, and I'm especially fond of the sweet potato crock. It reminds me of Thanksgiving, which we just celebrated. Everything they have is worth trying, especially the spoonbread and the mac and cheese. It was sad to see the establishment not so busy like it usually is due to covid-19, but I'm just glad it is still open. I'm hoping they survive the pandemic and business picks up next year, because it would be a real shame if this restaurant were to close for good. read more

I love the Eagle, if I lived closer to downtown I d probably come here way too much. Their fried chicken is divine. The skin is crispy and it's seasoned so well. The chicken is so juicy. The hot honey is such a great addition to it, I would love if it had just a little more spice. The mashed potatoes I didn't care for, they have horseradish and they are dry even with the gravy. I wouldn't order them again. The spoon bread delicious add some of the honey and well I would eat all of it. The Mac and cheese is AMAZING! The sauce is thick deliciousness. My friend and I arrived at the restaurant around 6:15pm and got seated right away. We didn't mind being outside, even in 89 degrees weather. The outdoor seating was not in the sun, which was perfect! From what I see, its communal tables, unless you go with a big party. Didn't mind it at all. Ordered: *Half Fried Chicken: Amazing! Comes with breast, thigh, drum and wing. It comes with their special honey (a little spicy) but the chicken had enough flavor that I didn't even use it. *Mac and Cheese: Delicious. Cheesy, tasty, plus I added bacon, for extra crunch and flavor. *Corn Bread: It was good because it was not dry, baked with real corn. *Kale Salad: Love that they added apples and the dressing was refreshing. A hidden gem (not on the menu) is their mac n cheese with fried chicken on top. You can also get it with shrimp too. It's a great mix especially with a little hot honey drizzle. Weirdest interactions there. We wanted a table outside and were told there was a wait but we could get a drink at the outside bar and stand at the outside standing table. Had no issue standing there and got our drinks. The hostess walks by while we're at the standing table and asks if we still want a table outside and shows us a table we can sit at. 10 minutes later a manager comes to our table and says "you need to be seated by a hostess to sit here". We told him we were and he says "well she's new" then just stands there. I asked "well do we need to leave" and he says yes and makes us move to another table on the other side of the patio. The table we were at was empty for 30 minutes and there were multiple tables empty on the patio. To me, if a new hostess makes a mistake you should handle that internally and not blame a customer. I don't know if we didn't look like good enough paying customers or something? Had good experience otherwise with bar tenders but won't go back because of that interaction with the manager. read more

First time at The Eagle. Four of us sat outdoors. Weather was perfect. Hush puppies (6) for a small appetizer were hot and crispy ant tasty with real corn kernels in the dough. Full chicken for 4 patrons is a smart way to try different parts of the fried chicken. We shared four sides - Mac and cheese, cole slaw, horseradish mashed potatoes and homemade biscuits. One of us had the alcoholic blackberry lemonade. Two drank the tea and one had a beer. Clean and efficient. Hot food. Pleasant servers. Couldn't have asked for a more pleasant experience. read more

This is my go to place in Indy, and the restaurant I'd recommend to anyone visiting! The food is always consistently a 10/10 no matter what you get, and the cocktails are hard to beat. The blackberry lemonade is my go-to. They also have great beer choices. The fried chicken sandwich is great, I suggest asking for hot honey on the side with it as well! My personal favorite is the kale salad, unexpected at a southern food restaurant, but it is SO good. I like adding the friend chicken to get the best of both. For sides, the fries, Mac and cheese and spoon bread are the best!! Can't say enough good things about this place. Fired Chicken!!!! Nope!! I got the grilled cheese because it sounded different and delicious. (It was!) The bread was perfectly toasted and had the right amount of cheese and apple and apricot preserve to make the savory/sweet combo work. My only complaint was the menu listed it as $7.00 and my final bill it was listed as $8.00. ‍ I mentioned it to the waiter but just kinda shrugged and paid my bill anyway. I also had a "Bourbon Punch" which was very tasty and served in a big huge glass. I enjoyed the smoky sweet flavor of the drink, very good. They have a nice atmosphere, friendly waitstaff and good food. I'll be back for sure, who knows maybe I'll try the fried chicken next time!! read more

The Eagle has hands down the BEST fried chicken I have had in Indianapolis so far. The exterior is crispy and has nice seasoning and spices but it's not extra heavy and the interior stays nice and juicy. Then you bring in that spicy honey and it's Game Over! I think we have tried almost all of the sides now in the handful of times we have been in. This time I ordered the Shrimp and Grits with the andouille sausage and that was just phenomenal. Service at The Eagle has always been great for us their staff is always personable and courteous. In my opinion they do a very nice job even when the restaurant is very busy. The Eagle is becoming one of our top go to restaurants especially when people visit from out of town. One heads up is that it definitely is worth your time to plan ahead and make a reservation because the wait times can get a little long because it's very popular. Sometimes it shows on the website that there are no slots available but if you drop by and ask they will get you a reservation if they don't have too many. On the other hand if you check in at the counter they will take your number down and text you when your table is ready so you can venture out and grab a drink or walk around Mass Ave if you don't wanna wait right there. Good thing we did, bc the bartender was great and reminded us completely of Max from "Kat's," (the TV Show)--in a good way . He recommended our drinks as well as appetizers. I've always and will come back to the Eagle I had a not so good service. Yes it was my decision to take my son cause I always bragged over The Eagle on how good the service was, the food was great and more. Well that day was not right at all, we waited for 2 hrs to be seated and the 2 hours to receive our food. When the food came it was ice cold. Me: I let the waiter know my food was cold Him: Well our mangers are extremely busy and you can snack on the food until the manager is free Me: I'm so sorry I don't do well with cold food... They have some great sides as well one of the most popular is the mac & cheese but personally I love their grits its one of my favorites. I'm coming back to update my review. Typically the eagle is my absolute favorite however the quality they serve for 2 go food is insane. Our macaroni and cheese lacked CHEESE!! We tried our best to salvage what we had since we don't live downtown. Our chicken was horrible. Our greens were delicious. It's extremely frustrating to drive downtown for one of your favorites to go and receive such horrible food and service. We called back and someone told us they'd get back with us and we're still waiting. Ordered a whole chicken, macaroni, greens, and the maple bacon. Honestly, their Mac & cheese is unparalleled. I often crave it and will order some to go even after eating dinner elsewhere . Their fried chicken is obviously why people come, but don't sleep on their sides because their biscuits with jam is purefection. The apple grilled cheese is also an easy favorite. It was my friend birthday and we decided to walk around mass ave to find somewhere for food and drinks. I heard so many good things about The eagle and decided to finally try it. Indoor seating and outdoor seating were available . We decided to sit on the back patio since it was a nice breeze. After being seated it did take around 15 minutes for our waitress to appear. We just looked over the menu while we waited. The service was excellent we didn't wait to long for drinks or food. The Mac and cheese was good. Sort of thick, but it was still pretty good. I got the shrimp po boy and my friends ordered the 3 piece chicken dark. After seeing there food I actually switched my ordered the shrimp po boy was also good. The shrimp was seasoned well and the sauce was pretty good. Now to the chicken. Omg probably the best Fried chicken I had in Indiana. They have a spicy honey that's goes well with the chicken. While The Eagle wasn't our first choice, we ended up here because the other location didn't open until 12pm, but glad we ended up here. We arrive little after 11am, got seated right away and after reviewing the menu, we went with the following items: - Whole fried Chicken - Fried Chicken Sandwich - Fried Chicken BLT - Blackened Shrimp Po'Boy - Side items: Collards, Mac-n-Cheese, Spoonbread and fries. The bills total was around $90, this included few drinks as well and this order was for 5 people. Our Favorites: - Fried Chicken - the chicken was perfectly fried, moist and juicy!! I would highly recommend their fried chicken. What makes this chicken even better is their spicy honey!! Pour on top of the chicken, dip it, whatever you do, don't forget to try it!! - Fried Chicken Sandwich - very simple, yet delicious!! Perfectly fried crispy chicken breast, with coleslaw in between two soft buns! I could eat this everyday! I'm not a fan of chicken breast, but the meat was tender and juicy, heck yeah, I could be converted from darkside!!! - Collards - didn't expect too much, but was blown away by the taste and flavors in their collards! Perfectly seasoned and the greens were cooked perfectly! Their collards are in my top 5! - Spoonbread - excellent, moist, love how they brushed the top with butter before serving and with spoon on top. It's one side you must order with the collards! Good, but... - Blackened Shrimp Po-Boy - What I expected and what I got is the reason this dish ended up at the bottom. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, but it was not "blackened" as expected... that I can let it go... but the charred avocado relish didn't help this dish. They took a simple po'boy and tried to make it sophisticated, just keep it to the basic. - Mac-n-cheese - this dish was on salty side... most likely due to the type of cheeses they used in the dish. - Fries - had them in other locations before. - Chicken BLT - not bad, but while the BLT concept was there, wasn't blown away by the sandwich. Their menu had more drink options then food options and their focus seems to be their fried chicken. This is a good location if you are meeting up with friends or colleagues for drinks. Haven't been to The Eagle in a few years. Hubs and I were meeting a work friend there from out of town and he had never been. They are known for their fried chicken which of course we partook. Here is the run down: Apps- pimento cheese tray- comes with ritz, pickles, & pickled green beans. All perfect; cheese was well balanced, the pickles were crisp and had great dill flavor. Spicy chicken dip- really good, creamy chicken with a kick served with tortilla chip. Hush puppies- GFD! Light, fluffy, great sauce on the side. Food: Hubs had a half chicken with skillet cornbread. Chicken was most and the breading had perfect crunch. The hot honey is legit on top. Just do it. I had the fried chicken BLT. Huge sandwich! Chicken breast fried perfectly set on top of crisp lettuce, bacon, tomato, and avocado. Loved it. No dessert because we had already done so much work.
