This wine bar is awesome. Just the type of establishment needed in Old Town Tomball. The renovations they did are top notch, the ambiance is fantastic, and they always have something going on. Indoor or outdoor seating, wine specials, live music, outside wine when the town has local festivals...etc. Grab some ice cream from Nonnies next door or an app from Brautigams Bar-N-Grill on the other side. The outdoor patio was perfection! The whole environment was perfect, from the decor to the waitress. The guitar player that was playing on the Sunday afternoon of our visit really added to the atmosphere. I had a Shiraz wine flight, which was tasty, except that I didn't know which wine was which. We ordered a pizza, which was good, but not very hot, and not the best I have ever had. Overall, the experience was wonderful, and we will be back next time we are in the area. read more

Unfortunately the wait service has declined greatly. We used to go here quite often. Atmosphere is great. The appetizers are wonderful but again our servers the last two times did not check on us and border on rude. I hope things improve as this is a favorite date night spot for us. read more

Beautiful place, nice atmosphere, great and attentive service, and of course being a wine bar- great wine (how can you lose there??)... However when I go to a wine bar I look forward to a really good cheese and cracker plate with some fruit thrown in (at least some grapes right??). Their menu online is half of what it at the restaurant. BUT all I cared about as far as food since my friends and I did meet around dinner time was the cheese tray to have with my wine. I looked at their menu prior to coming. The 7 of us planned this over a week in advance. Looking forward to their brie and other cheeses on their platter with some crackers. To my surprise, (on a Wednesday) our waiter informed us that they were out of all cheeses except the cheese that comes on the pizza... Meaning do not pick a salad either that comes with cheese as he pointed out. He suggested their awesome wings that they just added to their menu. I felt like we were at BW3's and wanted to order a beer... We ordered multiple things off of their food menu to try. Drinking wine required me to eat something otherwise a headache would have ruined my evening... I chose the pizza. I was not impressed. Honestly, I didn't expect to be. They are a wine bar! Later in the evening I ordered a mixed fruit plate (not on their online menu). Our poor waiter... I felt like I was beating him up, he brought out a bowl full of pineapple and 1 strawberry. He said that was ll they had (they were out of everything else). I was irritated. I said no thanks. My girls felt bad and said they would take it... Maybe I am being too harsh. The excuse was they had a wedding party there that weekend that kept them so busy that they sold out of a lot on their menu. I asked when they did their ordering. He said Cisco delivers Tuesday and Fridays but they are closed on Mondays. I am an operations gal. SO my thoughts were just because you are closed, why can't you still place an order for your delivery on Monday for your delivery on Tuesday if you run out of so much?? I mean what a great problem to have to be so busy that you run out a lot of stuff. I have read a couple of other reviews that have mentioned similar issues. You are based in Tomball where you have local farmers you can support as a back up plan. Your mark up is enough to hold you up a week if you don't want to place an order but don't to be out of most of your fruit for a week. Being out of cheese for a week at a wine bar?? Downtown Spec's Liquor, making buddies with some other wine bars in other areas to buy from as back up... But run out....? read more

This is one of the best kept secrets in Tomball. The service is great, it's comfortable, adorable and they have great music. Wine flights were explained and delicious. I wish it was open on Mondays, but everyone needs a day off, right? read more

My wife and I have been here 30+ times in the past year and we are members of the wine of the month club. The ambiance is what draws us here and we have met many patrons. The owners are trying to improve on the comments of others on Yelp and have hired a sommelier to lend credence to the wine selection. I agree that service still needs to be improved. I have been to three wine dinners in the past three months and the food has been excellent. read more

I'm shocked to see negative reviews about The Empty Glass, because my recent visit with a group of ladies was the greatest! The service was very good, and with such a large party (10-12 ish) that isn't what I expected. Nobody had anything negative to say about the wines, and we ordered several different brands and types. We also ordered three different appetizers and each one was delicious, and the plates were clean before we left. And did I mention the chocolate cake we had for dessert? YUM! The atmosphere was fantastic, and a great time was had by all. I can't wait to go back! read more

Stumbled across The Empty Glass in December during the German Christmas Market in Tomball. The staff were more than welcoming and eager to talk about their selection of wines. You'll find a larger selection of Texas wines on the menu than other wine bars, but that is part of the bar's character. The food menu is limited, but they never claimed to be a restaurant. The food on the menu is quality and compliments the wine selections well. A+ in my book. read more

I'm actually a white wine drinker (Moscato and Riesling) but thought I'd give red wine a try since it has been several years since I've tried to adapt my palette to a red wine. After going to a few places to see if wine tasting was available, we found "The Empty Glass" (http://theemptyglass.com/) located in Tomball. It was perfect‼! Not only is it in a cute and quaint building, service was more than I could have ever expected. We walked in and sat at one of the tables and was greeted by a very nice young lady. We explained to her our goal and she was very wiling to help us. In all I tried 4 samples of red wine and found just the right flavor. The winner is, " Fall Creek "Ed's Smooth Red" CV Tow, TX" and in second place is Miranda Lambert, Red 55 "Belle" CV Lindale, TX. They also serve food as well and have a restaurant next door with a full menu. If you're not a wine drinker, there's beer on tap as well. read more

Cute place with nice rustic decor. It's a great find in old town Tomball. The service is good and they have an excellent selection of Texas wines. LOVE this place. My husband and I stumbled upon it during the German festival held in front of the place every year. We went inside and were pleasantly surprised with the cozy atmosphere versus the somewhat cold, crisp atmosphere of wine bars in the Woodlands. We were greeted by the employees immediately and instructed to sit wherever. The staff was able to help us with our selection since, at the time, we didn't know that much about wine. We have been back multiple times now and we are never disappointed. It's the "Cheers" version of a classy wine bar, and we love that it isn't a chain. It really accomodates those who know a lot about wine and those, like us, who were new to it. We will definitely be back! read more

Never thought I'd gladly fork over $15 for a sandwich - in Tomball, no less. Seriously y'all. The Dana sandwich. It was that good. And the Empty Glass was the perfect quiet hideout to duck out and enjoy it with a few glasses of wine. Our first few visits were great - awesome staff, live music a plus, food and service on point. Our last two visits, sadly, are probably just that - our last. A few weeks ago we popped in for dinner to find they weren't serving a full menu because of the increased traffic generated by German Fest. I worked in the food service industry for many years, and can only say that I've never seen that response to an anticipated increase in sales. Still craving that crazy Dana sandwich, so we dropped in again tonight for dinner, and brought our 13 year old son with us. Had a server who was not at all familiar with the menu: we ordered the cheese plate and it was missing the bread, I asked her about it and her response was, "Um, I think must be out of it?" - we ended up with literally 4 crackers - she also got "prosciutto" confused with "bruschetta". She also didn't pay any attention to what we ordered - my husband asked for his beer in the can, she brought it in the glass, we each ordered a Dana sandwich, she brought us one - ONE - sandwich and asked us if we wanted extra plates. When we said we'd each ordered a sandwich, she said, "Ok I'll be right out with those," but a second later we told her never mind because we didn't want to wait another 20 minutes for the rest of our food. And here's the thing: all would have been fine if the one sandwich we ended up with had been even close to the awsomeness we'd been anticipating. Instead, it was half cold and mediocre. My husband and I went there at 5 on a Sunday evening hoping to kill some time before we had to be somewhere at 6. We sat down expecting to be able to have a nice glass of wine with an appetizer. First of all, when we walked in and went to the bar, the waitress / bartender kind of barked out a half hello half order to sit down while her back was turned. I couldn't understand a word she said and actually had to get her to repeat herself two times. The waitress / bartender then informed us that the kitchen had just closed.....at 5......when the rest of the place closes at 6. Which is funny because I actually saw them carrying plates of food out to other customers when we walked in. I looked at the waitress and asked "but don't you close at 6?" She said with mock sincerity "yes, I'm sorry, we just closed it down though." I asked if we could even get a cheese platter. I mean, you don't have to cook cheese, right? And again, with mock sincerity, "I'm sorry, no". I told her how disappointed I was since this was our first time visiting. When we got up to leave, all we got was a "Sorry guys, have a good day." WOW. I understand that you might want to go home since it is a Sunday, but really. You close at 6. Keep the kitchen open until 6. I really got the feeling that we were basically annoying everyone by coming in within an hour of closing time. I was actually scoping the place out for an event.....which will now not be happening there. read more
