Great drinks! Before I go on, let me say that my review covers drinks only. We did not have any food on this visit. We had a short window of a couple of hours to get together with a couple of friends and they suggested The European because it was conveniently located for all of us. The place has a nice bar, to your left as you enter, and also a seating area with a few tables. We sat at one of the tables at the very end. The cocktails are made real nicely. Their Mojito won a few votes in our group. I ordered the Sangria and loved it. There was a family sitting on a table near us and they ordered plenty of food; all tapas style and every plate they got looked appetizing! But, we were running out of time and had to hit the road. We had no plans of going to a bar when we came in here. We were actually looking for a place to grab a quick bite before our Harry Potter play on the street opposite. Since this was the only place nearby, we decided to go in. I am glad that we did :) As a first impression, nothing really stands out with this place. Its a regular bar with a good selection of drinks and has good seating indoors. Drinks : We had a couple of Cucumber delight and Old fashions. The drinks were yummy and potent with the right amount of sweetness. Food : The fries and the chicken wings were great, definitely something we needed before the 3 hour long play. Ambience : This place is bigger than what it appears from outside. Its clean, the bar is not as big but the seating is great. The music was very light so it made it easier to have a conversation. But then again, it might get loud as night falls. The bathrooms are located upstairs and make you walk almost through a maze to get there but are clean and hygienic. There is no outdoor seating here. We were looking for a spot with wine and tapas and we found this spot just a block away from our hotel. You must have your COVID vaccinations and ID to be served. The interior is quite cozy with dim lighting. We had a nice cab with a half charcuterie and cheese plate which was very good! I was surprised to get a $2 off on a glass of wine when I checked in. When I mentioned it to the server, she said since Covid, they were not supposed to have a Yelp discount, but she was kind enough to honor it. Our experience at the European was exquisite and genuinely exceeded our already high expectations of not only Spanish cuisine, but the dining experience as a whole. The ambience, the service, the good were all superb. We ordered the octopus and the squid ink paella and each bite was absolute perfection! On top of this, our server, Sergio Casas, was not only so attentive but also so friendly and personal. His bartending skills were so impressive and his energy was magnetic. It has a nice grown up bar/lounge feel to it which I liked. We ordered the Charcuterie Plate, Patatas Bravas, Pommes Frites, the Surf and Turf paella, and more! My friends and I love to do family style when we go out to eat and the servings were just right! My favorite was the Patatas Bravas and the Chicken tenders, yes you have to try them to believe it!
