    Dirty Greek Martini
    David M.

In the mood for sushi without having to get in a cab or rideshare. Convenient to the Marriott.on N. Miracle Mile. Hip, classic vibe with a great bar for solo patrons. Nice bartenders who are efficient and attentive. Dirty Greek martini is excellent. The kalamata blue cheese olives and hint of cucumber are excellent. The Mag Mile Roll hit the spot. Great sauce, texture (soft and crunchy), and flavor. Tough not to order another roll but was tempted by the "hand-cut" fries. false advertising becuase they were nothing more than frozen shoestring fries. Pass. Would return to try something more meat and potatoes.

We've had two trips to Chicago and both times we have eaten here, absolutely love it. It's fairly quiet at lunch and we love a good bar seating between shopping. Dinner was a bit loud but not intolerable, just a different fun vibe. We sat by the windows but I think towards the back it may have been a bit more quiet. This last trip we ate dinner one night and lunch the next day. The waiter remembered us and gave us delightful service. It's becoming a tradition for us, highly recommend!

What a pleasant surprise this was! Just needed to find someone serving brunch close by an event at the Marriott (across the street) and hit the jackpot! Sat by the window overlooking Michigan Ave. Beautiful! Our server Juan was outstanding. Started with beignets which were warm and tasty I got the Hugo Spritz cuz I love elderflower. It was delightful Started with shrimp Rangoon roll I don't eat sushi often so I was delighted that it tasted so good. Then I had the breakfast skillet. Eggs are how you want. I loved it esp since it had a bit of jalenpeño in it. Definitely going back

So glad I checked out The Evie! Moody lighting, on the 2nd floor with windows, buzz of lively conversations, background music, this place has a very movie-esque feel. Loved the vibes, the food, and the service. The smoked carrots -- wow! So surprising that carrots could be Delicious!! Something about the garlic sauce, pepper flakes, delicate sweet, BEETS, and pumpkin seeds, that create this fantastic flavor that you must try for yourself! Also had two sushi rolls, both were so tasty! Only thing I missed was trying their cocktails. Next time!

Came here to celebrate anniversary. The food was really good! Bread & Butter was a very good starter. Bread was super warm and soft, but definitely made our hands really messy because of the grease. Portions of entrees are large. Prime Rib sandwich was loaded with meat. Very juicy and flavorful. I'd say the crust for white fish was flakey. It adds texture to the dish, but overall still very tender. They also have a variety of drinks. But it is pricey probably due to location.

Street parking is rare in River North - good luck! Popped in for lunch. Seated quickly and service was good. Spacious interior with many tables. Veggie burger - the patty didn't hold well and broke apart as you were eating it. Chicago hotdog - exactly how you would imagine it. Chicago style means no ketchup so get your Chicago on.

Here's your fully updated Yelp review with those details added: Went here for lunch during Chicago Restaurant Week while celebrating my friend's birthday and overall we had a good experience. The restaurant is from the same owners as Wildberry Cafe and it's located in the old Bandera space on Michigan Ave, so the location is great. The only challenge at first was getting in. The escalator was down and although there was an arrow, it was still confusing. We actually had to ask security at the building next door how to enter. We started by saying we wanted the Restaurant Week lunch menu, but the waitress seemed a little clueless about it. We later realized it's basically the same as their corporate lunch menu. She also seemed like she might have been having a bad day, but service aside, the rest of the experience was pretty good. I had the chicken club and my friend had the wagyu hot dog. Both were really good and came out fresh. The only thing I didn't really care for was the key lime pie. Everything else was solid and it was still a nice spot for a birthday lunch. I would come back and give it another try.

It was my first time coming here and it owes me nothing. You have the views of Michigan Avenue and great service. They start you off with complementary beignets and on the weekends. They have a fabulous brunch menu. We got the Rangoon sushi roll as an appetizer and it was delicious. It tasted just like a crab regular but in sushi form. My friend and I opted for the skillets and it was so flavorful why my other friend did a build your omelette with smoked salmon goat cheese in Spanish. She said it was delicious. The cocktails were $10 and we each had two and they did not disappoint. Our server Jose was so nice and helpful. We will definitely be going back.

Beef cheddar slider literally 2-3 ounces of beef in the bun .

Cocktail hours ( happy hour ) first o ordered Walleye Ceviche you can't taste the fish due to chopped too tiny pieces and all what I tasted the ingredients came with it tomato red onions and cucumber with lemon juice . Second item I ordered was beef and cheddar slider literally the beef was served on the bun between 2-3 ounces .

The Evie is located on the second floor of a building on the Magnificent Mile. Be sure to make an advance reservation to be able to get a table and I suggest asking for a window seat table if you actually want the views over looking the Mile. I did not make that request, so our booth was set away from the street-views. The ambiance is great for a date night or work dinner and we did have good customer service from our waiter. However, the food prices are a bit on the high side for what you get. I got the lobster roll, which was $55 and only came with a side of french fries that were way undercooked. Also tried the pomme puree mashed potatoes and smoked carrot sides that were good.

Absolutely loved The Evie! Evie is my nickname so as soon as I saw this restaurant in one of my searches I had to book a reservation. It is in a great area and up on the second floor of a building, if you weren't looking you might miss it! The place has an amazing vibe and great atmosphere. Our server was super friendly. The food was so fresh and delicious. I appreciated their list of mocktails and NA drinks, I got the Afternoon in Peru which was unique and very flavorful, I loved it! We got the Fresh Baked Bread- which you neeeed to get, it is baked in house! I also got The Evie salad which was very fresh and tasty. I was with my dad and he had the Chilli Honey Glazed Salmon and said it was very good as well! Would highly recommend and would definitely come again next time I'm in town. I would recommend a reservation, we were there on a Friday night and it was quite busy!

Happy hour review Happy hour specials only available at the bar - which has limited seating. We were able to sneak in right before 6 and order a couple of items for our party of 3. We each ordered an old fashioned and felt it was average. Overall we were impressed at the food quality and surprised by some of the flavors. My friends noted the spice level with both the hot dog relish and the salsa side for the artichoke dip. The carrots were my highlight as there was some good roasted notes with the garlic toum and a price that can't be beat ($5). As time progressed, it was very noticeable how popular this restaurant is. Both the bar and restaurant filled up to the point that folks were standing near the bar with their drinks and mingling with others. If you're shopping near the area, the Evie would be a great spot to pop in and take a meal break esp during happy hour.

Things could be better... My sister chose here for her 25th birthday dinner. The space is nice, dark lighting, second floor of a building right on Michigan Ave. the window views are really nice. Our service was great overall, we sat at the bar as there were extra guests at the table. The bartenders were attentive and friendly. Our food came out pretty quick and overall it was a nice environment. The food was more disappointing. The bread was delicious (it is a menu item not complimentary). One review I read mentioned the char taste being bitter and a bit overwhelming and that is how i felt about the steak and broccolini. We ordered it medium and it was a little more medium-rare. The broccolini was undercooked and still had that bitter char taste. Those two main components were not up to par with what I expected. The fries were delicious, but overall a tad disappointing.

Is this restaurant kid friendly (ages 7-10 well versed in restaurants) for an earlyish dinner, 6:30p?

I would say absolutely. Well, the bar area is very busy. The tables accommodate families very nicely.

    What's the parking situation?

You will need to find parking. There is street parking on Ohio or on Grand. There is a parkinglot on Fairbanks and Ohio or you can pay a lot at Marriott across the street. No valet that I've ever seen.

Are they strict on the dress code?

    It's casual

$400+ dinner for two, including drinks. Nothing special,…read morelike we hoped. Pretty much standard steakhouse fare ... maybe a little less tasty than some of the other top-ranked steakhouses I've been to. I'd put it on par with Smith & Wollensky or Capital Grille, which is to say better than average and overpriced. To start off, the wicked stepsister hosts, who look about 20 years old, at the front seem to take joy in making you wait, even if you have a reservation and laugh in your face when you ask to sit in a certain area. There is nothing cool about dealing with a 20 year old on a power trip when paying almost half a grand for dinner for two. The real hero of this establishment should be their lighting designer ... I would venture to say that the dimly-lit yet perfect feeling vibe of the restaurant is what sets it apart. If not for the design of the restaurant, it would be just another steakhouse. The waiters are as pretentious as the hostesses. You know you you walk into a Restoration Hardware store and someone making minimum wage gives you, 'mansion attitude'? That's everyone we encountered at Bacette's ... insufferable snobs. We started out with cocktails, which were well made. Nowhere were the prices but expect a cocktail to set you back $25. The steaks are around $80 - $120. We both had the bone-in filet mignon, which was $89 at the time of the review. I guess it's supposedly a rare cut of meat ... although when I asked our butcher about it being rare, he chuckled and said, 'whatever sells steaks, I guess'. The filet was good ... again, nothing amazing ... on par with a chain like Capital Grille. I ordered mine medium rare and it came medium and a bit under seasoned. Each steak comes with a side of Bearnaise sauce, which honestly was the best part of the meal. Rarely would I consider ruining a $89 steak by dipping it in sauce ... but it kind of needed the extra kick. We got asparagus and the truffle Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was better than the steak, however, we were expecting the normal overflowing sides, which are usually too much for two people to finish. The Mac and cheese was pretty small and we felt like it was more like a single side ... especially given that the filet (minus the bone) was probably around 8 ounces. Asparagus was just your average asparagus. We had the chocolate pie and ice cream for dessert. The chocolate cake was almost like an entire slice of cake frosting with a scoop of dense whipped cream on top. Way too sweet and we barely ate half amongst the both of us. The ice cream was nothing special. We didn't realize you could not have a reservation and sit at the bar. Honestly, we were placed downstairs at a table ... and felt like we were sitting in a basement. It was not as nice as the upper restaurant and they refused to move us when we asked them if we could sit upstairs in the better part. She gleefully said it would be a two hour wait to change tables. If we knew we could have just snagged an empty bar seat upstairs, we'd have done that because it's better than the basement. Although, we saw some near arguments as people rushed in to get a bar stool in front of people who were waiting a long time. And, it's a little awkward to eat with vultures standing behind you waiting to jump into your seat, I'd imagine. So maybe make sure that you request to be seated upstairs and see if the mean girls hostess will accommodate the request. Overall, Chicago has so many good steakhouses, the fact that this one ranked so highly mystifies me. I've been to several better than this which were not even ranked. The atmosphere is cool ... everything else is average ... except for the attitudes which are below average.

Very vibrant and really friendly people all around. Piano bar vibes with the live playing at your request. Bartenders are attentive and try to get to everyone quickly. Just to give you a sense of how friendly this place is, I accidentally knocked over my glass of wine while reaching for the bill. Caught it though...phew. But not before I spilled it all over the back of the woman sitting next to me, the man to the right of me, and of course all over myself! Within two seconds, a waitress came over with napkins to help clean up the mess, the guy sitting next to me got on the floor and wiped it all up, and the woman whom I spilled the drink all over was like "Don't even worry about! At least you caught the wine glass!" Wow! I was stunned at how cool everyone was, and it set the tone for the evening. We finally got our table and split the Gipson's ribeye, lobster, sweet potato and brussel sprouts. Seriously one of the best steakhouse meals I've ever had. Forget about the perfectly made drinks that were served to us. Ricardo made us feel right at home with his kind disposition and friendly demeanor. But it doesn't just stop at Ricardo. Everyone was absolutely fantastic. We could have been served 7-11 sushi at this point and I still would have left 5 stars. Food time. The kimchi pork dumplings were an absolute flavor bomb and that parmesan broth gave the dumplings a little extra kick that took it to the next level. Plus, I love when the dumpling wrapper has a little chew to it and isn't this soft mush that dissolves in your mouth. The beef fat frites were a nice treat as well. They were not extra or over the top in anyway. But you can tell when something is done well and correctly, just like these fries were. The Premium Steakhouse Set, in my opinion, is all two people need to enjoy this very special experience. All the accompanying condiments were exceptional on their own and could have functioned as their own course. The Japchae glass noodles were a stunner. The real sleeper was the chopped lettuce greens tossed in their chili vinaigrette. Could have eaten 20 bowls of those lettuce greens. Sadly, I forgot the name of our server who cooked and cut our meat for us. She really added to the experience. She expertly prepared our food while maintaining a fun and pleasant conversation with us. The meat itself, my goodness, tender, smoky, quality-forward, and perfect served with the condiments. What a spectacular meal and overall experience.

Finally decided to give Perilla a try (not a fan of Asian-fusion type food usually) and it was…read morebetter than expected! We went during happy hour, selection of food and drink items were good and the price is right too! We ordered a bunch stuff to try: * Raw oysters - good, nothing to rave about * Argentinian shrimp - the shrimp were small and looked kinda depressing, flavor was decent though * Bossam - this was probably the lowlight for me, traditional bossam is pork belly, it is just not the same without the fat, pork collar does not cut it! * Short rib skewer- flavorful, cooked just right, delicious * Garlic chive pancake - this was my favorite, full of scallions, nice crunch on the sides and soft in the middle * Chilled soda noodle and kimchi - not traditional cold noodles, but it was tasty * Crudo - it was a TINY piece, certainly not worth the price even though it tasted fine, this was not a happy menu item * Basque cheesecake - wanted the Perilla sundae but was sold out, so settled for the cheesecake, it was just fine Staff were all very friendly and helpful. It was a nice experience overall. For happy hour, I would come back!

You can tell he truly loves his job, plus the atmosphere and team work together smoothly. The food was presented with love, the sauce on the steak was stunning, everything was excellent and we left so satisfied. We'd like to take a moment for the shrimp scampi because wow. Perfectly cooked shrimp in a sea of magical butter sauce. We hope to be back soon. Thank you for a magical evening. Shout out to the magical moment with the personalized menu and individual birthday cake!! Honestly we'd like to give you the galaxy but we only have five stars :)

Spent more than my car payment, left underwhelmed…read more The dining room is so dark, our table passed around a phone flashlight to read the menu. So did other patrons. That's not ambience, that's a liability. The seafood "tower" is a plate. A good plate -- tastiest thing we ate -- but when the menu says tower, you expect something vertical. The mac and cheese, however, is genuinely outstanding. It alone justified getting dressed up. The steaks did not. One overcooked, one undercooked. At a steakhouse. At $300 a person, give or take. Then the bill arrived with a 3.5% "Emp. Benefits" surcharge -- unannounced, undisclosed, not on the menu, or website. Server said it was a 'credit card processing fee'. At this price point, padding the bill with a hidden fee and dressing it up as charity isn't charming. It's deceptive. Just price your food honestly. Come for the mac and cheese and order the double seafood plate, if you can afford it. Bring a flashlight. Read your bill carefully. Shorts and hoodies are OK, web-site's "dress chic" requirement is a joke.
