Took the wife to The Farmhouse Restaurant,for the first time ever, before our Monthly HEB run. IYKYK. Pros: Service 10/10- the lady's working there were awesome and in great spirits, lot of laughs and happy to see us. Food came out fast and fresh and hot! Veggies eggs Benedict 9/10 - everything was perfect. Best hollandaise sauce I've ever had. Hashbrowns were and cooked perfectly. Everything was fresh and delicious except the spinach which was very bitter, like it was either, old, canned or burnt can't tell which. But easy enough to pick out. Grits 10/10 - real butter not that country crock canola oil crap. "big as your head" Pancake 10/10- fluffy and delicious- 3 eggs perfectly cooked, again in real Butter, thick cut bacon. Farmhouse hash 6/10- pork was great, eggs were great,bbq was great, but the potatoes were very under cooked. They were perfectly golden brown, so I'm guessing the fryer was turned up too high or maybe that's just the way they cook them. But I ate the topping with my wife's hashbrowns and they were amazing, so when I go back I'll just order it on top of the hash browns instead of risking hard potatoes. And it would be a 10/10 Biscuits & gravy 5/10- again it may just be preference but the biscuits to me were hard thin and chewy, and the gravy needed something to light it up. Some kind of salty fat, I think. Overview: The place is fast, fresh, friendly and clean! Disappointing. When I go out for breakfast, I want pancakes. Their only choice is a "pancake the size of your head" which is more the size of a 12" pizza. Should be a good thing, right? And it came with meat choice & 3 eggs. Way more than I can eat. So I told server that I didn't need eggs, just pancake, bacon & a glass of milk, so she did ala carte that cost more than the first option. 1st pancake was burnt. 2nd pancake was uncooked around the edges & burnt in the middle. I ate a couple of bites & gave up. Restaurant won. And I was still charged full price. Server saw what I ate & didn't offer anything. I would have asked for a manager but can't imagine anyone I saw was a manager. I go to the Milwaukee location & am always happy there. This place needs help & smaller pancakes & better prices. Visiting my son and he recommended but said their would prob be a wait. We arrived on a Sunday at 845 and about 6 tables were open. We had 6 in our party and were sat at a 4 top. It was crowded but we made do. Within 15-20 min there was quite a wait. Service was good. Order was biscuits and gravy, Farmhouse hash, Chicken fry steak and eggs, Pork omelet and the pancake as big as your head. All plates were huge and good. Would definitely recommend. read more

My niece and I went for brunch and it was a disappointment. The floors were littered with napkins, sugar wrappers and a couple pieces of silverware. The service was slow because of a backup in the kitchen. My niece ordered the Southwest Eggs Benedict. The dish was actually looked very nice on arrival. However, the eggs were over cooked too well done status and my niece sent it back. When it was brought back to her the eggs were as they should be however they added more hollandaise sauce to cover everything. Basically they scrape the eggs off replace them with new eggs and just added more sauce. The cornbread bottom of the eggs Benedict tasted like it had no cornmeal in it and tasted more and looked more like a pancake that was sweet. The potatoes had zero seasoning and were very bland. I ordered the Colorado omelette and substituted bacon for the ham. It arrived with ham and no bacon. It did have the onion bell pepper and cheese. However the omelette was cooked very hard, browned and dry. The hashbrowns were very bland however there was a slight sprinkle of some sort of spicy seasoning over a small portion. The sourdough toast was barely toasted and had very little butter. When I received the bill there was a dollar charge for the bacon in addition to the $8.99 price for the Colorado omelette. My server took it back to change it however when she returned it was the same and she gave me a dollar. I asked her if it was from the restaurant or her and she said it was from herself. Therefore I left the dollar on the table as well as her tip. If this was the policy of the restaurant I am absolutely not impressed that the server had to give the dollar because as she said "it was her error" I was so hoping this would be a good experience since I live fairly close to this restaurant however I won't be back unless I read some reviews that it has improved. read more

Tried calling 7 times to place an order and they finally answered on call 8. A server answered and after I gave my order told me "we aren't busy it should be ready in 10 minutes". So I get there after about 20 minutes and there's 4 People at the entry desk and they had no idea about my order and said I was just early for it. Turns out the kitchen "lost" the ticket. Every time I call in an order there's something I have to deal with instead of just walking in and getting my food. We've been a small handful of times. It's a breakfast house, but no one knows how to fry an egg or scramble one. The scrambled eggs are horrific. You could bounce them to Slaton. They almost eat like powdered eggs. The fried eggs aren't ever right either. Over medium is mostly runny yellow and no runny whites. The whites are always runny. I'm not a regular reviewer but was so grossed out I had to leave one. We've had a bad experience here but wanted to give them another chance. If I could give them no stars I would. It was COMPLETELY unsanitary of how they handled the cleanliness of the tables, serving the food, and the way they disposed of the garbage. Cross contamination everywhere!! I would shudder to see the kitchen. We watched all of this with disgust for 20 minutes with no food being served. Service was slow. Everyone seemed to be running everywhere but doing nothing. We ordered breakfast but were so disgusted watching, left. We told the hostess we were leaving, and paid for the food (with no food). No apology was given as they accepted the money. We went for breakfast after a long time of not going. We used to be regulars but after many complaints and second chances we gave up and stopped going. My husband wanted to go today. I ordered a kids meal which I had gotten many times before. The waitress took my order but then brought me the adult meal. Of course I left half of it. When the ticket came, you guessed it, I was charged for an adult. I asked and was told they won't serve a kids meal to adults anymore. I asked why the waitress didn't tell me but they ignored my question and said we just don't do it. Had I been told I wouldn't have ordered it and gotten something smaller. This is a clean restaurant. The interior decorators' efforts to create a farmhouse feel is more like a cross between an 80's diner and a collision with farm relic replicas than real antiques via American Pickers. One can choose from a variety of traditional breakfast options to a handful of omelettes, eggs Benedict, sweet breakfasts (pancakes, waffles, or French toast) or biscuits and gravy. One of us tried the traditional breakfast that comes with three eggs, hash browns, choice of meat, and toast. I ordered the Southwest Benedict and an additional side of sourdough toast. If you want your poached eggs to be cooked medium or hard be sure to tell the wait staff when you order. I forgot to tell our wait staff and they didn't ask how I wanted my poached eggs so they came out soft and runny. As for the hash browns, well let's just say if you want them crispy golden brown throughout, you would have to ask for them to be cooked this way. Ours were not. The sourdough toast was okay but could have been fantastic if the cook had put butter on the whole piece and not just a splash of melted butter on a small portion of each piece. Jelly options are already on each table in little packets: strawberry, grape, orange marmalade, and apple butter. Horrible food and the service was sub par. We asked several times for orders to be corrected because the food was cold or or just plain old as it seemed like it has been sitting since the morning. Hair was fount in one of my children's pancakes and the others chicken tenders seemed to be rewarmed or double cooked in the deep fryer as they were burnt and uneatable when they arrived. Manager never came to check on us after multiple complaints but told our server he would discount our ticket. They ended up trying to still charge us for meals we didn't not eat and asked the server to send back, with a 5% discount. The restaurant was dirty and smelled like bad mop water. Such a shame. Both restaurants have such potential but they stay doing the bare minimum when it comes to food. Portions are small and the quality is sub par. Everyone says the same thing when this restaurant is brought up. "Oh man we were so excited for a sort of upscale breakfast place, but then we went in and it was a Denny's." It's official. We are giving up on both locations. Both suffer from the same issues. Bacon is simultaneously undercooked and burned on the bottom. Home fries are too big, too dry and have no flavor. Crossaint French toast was burned and squashed flat as a piece of paper. Gravy was too thick and without any flavor. The ONLY redeeming feature is their salsa. The last 3-4 times we have eaten here, it's been terrible. We won't be wasting any more money here. read more

Don't waste your time going to this location it is horrible. Service is awful, waitress got our order wrong as well as the food came out one at a time and very slow. One we finally get the correct items the pancake was half burned and the French toast, omelette was cold and missing bacon they didn't care. Then the bring us the wrong ticket and they did it to 2 other tables while I was waiting. Took 30 min to get the correct ticket and to pay and had to ask for manager to just get my credit card back so I could leave. Disappointed. The exterior makes you think this will be a nice place to dine. The atmosphere is pretty basic and on the lower end of places. The attitude of the greeter and wait staff was not welcoming. The food was nothing special at all. The French Toast was soggy. It had no "toasted" exterior to make it French Toast. The hash browns were just shredded potatoes with no crispy ness or "browning" to make them hash browns. Eggs were plain. Bacon was nothing special. Seemed to be chewy, limp, and greasy. I am so disappointed. We usually eat here at Farmhouse every Sunday morning. We have done so for months. We just loved it. Today, we went in, and very few of the staff hold on masks. We would have left, but did not notice until seated. The food arrived at our table burned and cold.
