    602. Milk lava French Toast
    Amy T.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Stopped in hour before closing on Sunday. It wasn't busy[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Jimmy was our server. We tried different dishes on this visit. My son tried the milk lava French toast. I ordered the three cup sauce chicken pot and Singapore Laksa noodle soup. My husband had the Teppan steak set. We finished the noodle soup. It had the perfect amount of spice with shrimp, fish and fish balls. Chicken pot was very flavorful. Jimmy said it was the most popular of the chicken pot options. Steak was good as well. My son liked the French toast a lot. When asked about the filling, Jimmy said that it was a secret recipe. Of course! Food was delicious and came out fast. Service was excellent. Very attentive! Will be back.

The dog and bear ice were cute and a nice one time experience for a good Yelp picture. But, it was not easy to eat nor did it really taste like anything. The teppan set was delicious with just the right amount of seasoning. I loved that the skillet was hot enough to make some of the rice crispy. I've been to Singapore and I was totally missing Laksa and theirs hit the spot. The sparkling Mango soda was very refreshing and would be a great option for the summer. Looking forward to going back and trying other items. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place opens at 11 and they got packed quick and I can see why![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The restaurant is literally in front of 99 Ranch, not off to one side. That three me off when I was looking for it. It is fairly small but people are in and out so there was no wait while I was there. I had the calamari starter which was okay and nothing special. For my main I had the pork chop with tomato sauce and cheese over rice. The rice is actually a fried rice and was pretty good by itself. The pork chop is tender and flavorful but there's not enough compared to the amount of rice served...good thing the rice was good by itself. I also tried my friend's fried rice and it was very good but again nothing out of the ordinary. What tickled me was my Thai ice tea with a "dog" ice. It looked more like a kitten to me but still cute. The ice tea was tasty too so bonus.

This cafe is right next to (connected to) 99 Ranch. From the outside, it doesnt look like anything special but what got me here were Yelp reviews and I was not disappointed. The handmade noodles were delicious with the right amount of chewyness and the sauce was perfect. I do prefer spice so asked for chili sauce and what they gave me was super spicy! I think next time I am in thr area, I will come by to try their desserts! The popcorn chicken was perfect as well. Do not sit on this place and go eat there.

There was no wait when we came in for lunch on Saturday. [[HIGHLIGHT]]But it was almost all full.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was quick and efficient. Lots of options on the menu. All the food came out and it was delicious. Fried foods were perfect and crucnhy. Sizzling dishes had great flavor. Skewers were perfectly cooked. Portions were generous, we had lots of leftovers! The beverages were super cute, although on the sweeter side.

Conveniently located next to Ranch 99, Flame Cafe offers a variety of Hong Kong cafe staples. We had no trouble quickly getting a table when we came before noon, but I've seen lines before during the lunch rush. I ordered the toast, curry beef brisket, baked pork chop with rice, and baked fish fillet with cream sauce. The portions are ample, and the taste is decent. Nothing that will knock your socks off but enough to satisfy that HK food craving.

Flame Cafe has a great, cozy atmosphere, totally giving homey vibes with all the cute decorations everywhere. Festive LED lights brightening the rom while calm songs playing in the background.. just great! I ordered the Beef chow fun and pork chop baked rice. The pork chop baked rice is authentic, specially because the rice underneath is fried rice and not basic white rice. One thing to add is that there isn't enough sauce. Sauce gave the traditional cha chaan teng flavor though. The beef chow fun serving is kind of small, and the beef is kind of chewy. Staff is attentive, good experience overall.

The Vibe: Cha Chaan Teng chic. The Strategy: Eat first, regret nothing later. My Therapist Recommended This (Okay, I recommended it to myself) Forget yoga. Forget meditation apps. If you are having a bad week, the cure is sitting right here in this classic hk dish. I call this the "Emotional Support Combo". The Baked Pork Chop Rice: It's basically a warm hug made of cheese and tomato sauce. The pork is tender, the rice is fluffy, and the sauce is tangy enough to make you forget your problems. The Milk Tea: Silky smooth and served in that iconic Black & White cup. It calms the soul while simultaneously waking up the brain. The staff here are basically the care team--they saw my empty water glass and refilled it before I even asked. Total cost: Way less than a co-pay. Side effects: Extreme happiness and a full belly. Absolute comfort food heaven. My diet starts tomorrow (maybe).

I always enjoy coming here when I can for a Hong Kong style meal and it always fulfill a craving! It does get pretty crowded over the weekends but we were still able to get a pretty large group in! The service is pretty good overall and I did feel like it was pretty efficient! There's a large parking lot outside that it shares with 99 ranch but you're able to find somewhere to park!

    Mic V.

This place is located right in front of 99 Ranch. The vibe is nice. They have cool decor like bear bricks. I only tried their Baked Seafood with rice and it was amazing! It had fish, calamari, and shrimp in it. Everything had the perfect mix and texture. Pro tip: ask for hot sauce and it takes it to the next level. The food came out quick and it was served fresh and hot! Service was great also. It filled me up but I wanted to keep eating because it was so good. I will definitely come back to try other items. If you've never been to Hong Kong, eating here will give you a glimpse of their amazing food. It's that authentic.

Came here for lunch and got the Thai tea with dog! It's so cute! But somehow it's not a dog but a bear!! Got the beef brisket noodle and chicken steak teppan . they sizzle in front of you which did splash on us a little. So sit further away! The beef brisket was not as tender as I'd like. The noodle was a bit too soggy. The chicken steak teppan was good. Huge bowl of rice. If you should your yelp, you get a lemon ice tea and it came with the dog!! The price is very affordable compared to the Bay Area. Will definitely come back to try other things if in the area.

好食,抵食 Pork chop in tomato sauce was one of my fav take out items from 大家樂 when i was at school. The pork chop here brought back so many fond memories. We ordered the seafood in cheese cream sauce as well, and some garlic chicken wings. I think both baked rice items are spot on and quite a bargain. The chicken wings are also pretty good, relatively less good value. The service was perfect, and the place is cleaner and more spacious than a typical HK 茶餐廳

Baked creamy seafood pasta and sizzling beef
    Leeana B.

Came here on a pleasant Sunday afternoon and was seated right away--no wait at all. There were four of us, but since we weren't too hungry, we decided to share two entrées and one appetizer: the curry fishballs, beef sizzling plate, and creamy seafood baked pasta. The sizzling plate was nicely presented and mixed tableside by the server, though I didn't try it myself since I don't eat red meat. The curry fishballs arrived hot and flavorful--not overly salty, but nothing particularly standout either. My favorite by far was the baked seafood pasta. The seafood tasted fresh (which I'd expect given they're attached to an Asian grocery store!) and the cream-to-pasta ratio was spot on. I also appreciated that none of the dishes were overly salty. The interior felt clean and modern. While the restaurant is on the smaller side, it still managed to feel cozy without feeling cramped. Overall, I'd definitely return to try more of their dishes! :)

Well, I'm really glad I met my friend for lunch here today. It was delicious! The space is small inside with wooden picnic style table and benches giving this place a hole in the wall feel. We were given two menus and an ordering sheet to check off the items we want. I love self-ordering like this because I can take my time. I hate feel rushing and end up ordering too much food! Thanks to other fellow Yelper's reviews. I knew I wanted to try the Clay Pot Rice. We got the Medium Ribs with Black Bean Sauce. It's enough for 2 or 3 people to share. Scooping out the burned and crunchy rice on the bottom of the pot was the best part. So satisfying when you get a spoonful of the really crunchy part. I wish there were more meat/ribs but I remember you can add additional items for few extra bucks. I'll keep that in mind the next time. Yes, I plan to bring my boys here soon. We order 7 different barbeque skewers and they were all delicious and flavorful. You can tell the meat has been well marinated. You can select spicy or non-spicy. Each order comes in two pieces. It was the perfect amount of food for two of us. I recommend and will likely order again are Chicken Gizzards, Sausages, Beef an definitely Bacon Shrimp. If I had to pick only one, it would be the Bacon Shrimp. The bacon is securely wrapped around the shrimp and making the shrimp very juicy and flavorful. The waitress also pointed us to some self serve cold herbal tea that's mildly sweetened. It was surprisingly good. In traditional Chinese medicine, herbal teas are used to balance the body's internal environment and clear excess heat. It's very fitting to drink the herbal tea after eating all the barbeque meats! Happy to finally try this place and looking forward to trying more dishes next time.

I love roast duck so any roast duck is good to me. Not a lot of comment on the duck. However, the Empress Chicken is nicely seasoned with the whatever broth they cooked it in. Drinks aren't rated, as they don't sell house cocktails (though they sell a small selection of beers and wines). All-in-all a solid menu. The dilemma is that we generally felt unwelcome. We came by on a Sunday evening at 6:30 pm (and paid and left by 8:20 pm which is 10 minutes before closing). We were a party of 8 with diverse backgrounds, and with exception to one server (a woman wearing red who was maybe a manager), the staff just weren't friendly toward us. I will say that one woman in red was so kind. She made sure to say "bye" as we left. I will add one of my friends mistakenly tried to take a pair of chopsticks (as they are set on the table in a paper slip). She didn't realize they were store owned/reusable vs throwaway. She quickly apologized, but that became the final straw of awkwardness with the staff. The food was genuinely great with appropriate prices, so I may give it another shot down the road as a date night option.

My goal is to come here during dine downtown week in January to try that menu since I hear it's worth it. For parking, it's either street parking or you can do valet parking in the garage right next door. There is no self parking in the garage. Street parking is self parking. The restaurant itself is like a long, large hallway. When you walk in, your greeted by the host desk. Then you walk towards the back and pass a bunch of booths, tables and the bar area to the right. It's built like a Craftsman style layout. When I was here recently, it was for a friend's birthday and there was a group of 10+ of us. They only do family style food so our group was split into 2 tables and each table ordered their own entrees and meals to eat family style. I was at a table of perks I had just met that night, but we had no issues sharing plates. This may not be for everyone, do you can still order your own entrees, but there won't be much variety if you don't have a lot of people. The food was good. We ordered wallet shrimp, Buddha's delight, the curry noodles/chow mein, garlic green beans and chicken chow mein. All three good was good. I would say it's above average and comparable to Din Tai Fung, but a bit cheaper. I liked the walnut shrimp, garlic green beans and buddhas delight. Service was decent. They packed everything really nicely and we served it up as soon as we got home. Their rice noodle rolls are so flavorful and I love the sweet, salty and savory sauce that comes with it. The noodles are really filling, and the dishes we got would be enough food for 2-4 people depending on how hungry you are. We ate the rice rolls right away and then had leftover green beans and beef and mushrooms for lunch today. The green beans were fresh and had a great garlic flavor, without it being too much. The Beef and Mushrooms was great, the beef was tender and flavorful and the mushrooms soaked up all the sauce. There were also green beans in this dish, which was a perfect addition. The food came out fast and piping hot. Pretty soon our entire table was covered with dishes. We started with the hot and sour soup, which we both felt was lacking in the flavor department. It didn't have that spicy tang that you look for when you order hot and sour soup. The potstickers were fried crispy, but the dough was a little too thick. The spicy cucumbers had no flavor to them at all. And the honey walnut shrimp was not memorable. We both felt that the two best dishes were the BBQ pork fried rice and the Mongolian beef. The beef was tender and had good flavor. The prices were extremely fair and the portions were large, but all in all this was not my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area.

We told ourselves if they couldn't seat us, no worries, we actually had a backup restaurant to go to, but i'm so glad they did! We got seated right away and knew exactly what to order. We got the chili oil wontons, chicken dry chow fun, salt and pepper spare ribs, and the duck noodle soup. Everything was so good and the hitter of the night for us was the duck noodle soup. It was so flavorful and the meat was so tender! Everything paired so well together and it was very refreshing. Our server was so nice and very attentive. Since we did get seated 15 minutes before closing, we had to order quickly but we weren't rushed either. He was very helpful and made the experience better. Would definitely come back here to try other items on the menu!

Also more beverage options and dessert options than I recall compared to EG location. Located in down town area no parking lot , just street parking. Service was great, seems more open and spacious at this location, would be that there is more space over all and more light coming through the windows. Journey to the dumpling never lets me down. My go into item is always Peking spare ribs, delicious.

Thankfully, my mother in law knows the owners, so we received especially attentive and friendly service throughout the meal. Everyone was welcoming, our food came out fast, and they made sure we had everything we needed. The food was outstanding from start to finish. The food tasted fresh, flavorful, and was clearly made with quality ingredients. The Hainan chicken was tender, the roast duck was perfectly crispy and juicy, the fried rice was delicious, and every dish we tried was excellent. We'll definitely be back, and I highly recommend this spot if you're looking for authentic, high quality Chinese food. The photos speak for themselves!

Its been so bad the past decade that we decided to give it another chance. Different management, different chefs, different everything basically. The fried flounder was so fried that I could not separate the bones, not only that, you could barely get any meat out of it. Our table had nine people and they only provided 6 buns with our peking duck. I thought they didn't have enough steamer space and was going to bring more but nope. The shrimp in their salted egg pumpkin and shrimp dishes was overcooked and their deep fried pig intestines were extremely stinky. Their portion sizes downsized like crazy and it's so bad that we didn't even finish any of the dishes. The best dish was a stir fry cauliflower dish that I could make at home. It was supposed to come with pork, but I only saw itty bitty pieces of meat. The service was also super bad and slow. I was eating their fried rice and bit on a piece of broken yellow plastic with multiple sharp points. Prior to that, I was feeding my toddler the rice so THANKFULLY it didn't go to him. When we told the server, which was an older lady with glasses and bangs, she's like oh... then she took it to the kitchen and pretended that nothing had ever happened when she came back out. Shes been there for years, and I remember seeing her when we were regulars. I wasn't expecting anything, except for some accountability. I used to love this place so it's pretty sad to see how much it went downhill.... This business needs to be scrapped. The current 3 stars is giving them too much credit and it must have been due to when they used to be good, in the past.

We ordered the pickled Veggie with pickled chilli fish filet, the portion is huge, great for sharing. The fish was cooked perfectly and the Veggie put it all together. We ate it with some rice. This would be a great dish for the winter. Both, the lamb meat and kidney skewers were also grilled to perfection. Well seasoned and meat and kidney were super tender. If you are not a fan of cumin, I would skip this. They use a lot of cumin, in exchange, no gamey taste. I definitely want to go back and try some more skewers as well as other dishes. Private parking lot. Good services. Ambiance is your typical Asian restaurant.

They were not overly, but it was an experience that was created of having dinner at a friend's house. The young man challenged my friend, who didn't know how to use chopsticks, to learn how to use them, and if he could pick up a piece of food with them, he would give him a soda on the house. That right there was great atmosphere and great service, and guess what: my friend did it! He honored the deal and gave us the soda for free. Now I'm not saying everybody's gonna get that, but that's the kind of atmosphere that was created. Since it was a Chinese food restaurant, the service was fast. By the time you drink about half of your class of water or half of your cup of tea, the food that you ordered is coming to the table. I wish I had taken pictures of the food like I normally do, but it was so good that I didn't. I promise you I will return, and I will take all kinds of food pics for you to see. This food was the best Chinese food I've had in the city. The food alone was a four-star review. The fifth star is based on the overall experience. The restaurant was unassuming, but a great find. I will be back! Multiple times, I will make journeys to get the food at this restaurant. If I can't sit down and enjoy, I will definitely be calling in to pick up an order. Please, go and try it for yourself. I will warn you, though, I have a big back part of me waiting to devour this food weekly.
