    602. Milk lava French Toast
    Amy T.

Stopped in hour before closing on Sunday. It wasn't busy. Jimmy was our server. We tried different dishes on this visit. My son tried the milk lava French toast. I ordered the three cup sauce chicken pot and Singapore Laksa noodle soup. My husband had the Teppan steak set. We finished the noodle soup. It had the perfect amount of spice with shrimp, fish and fish balls. Chicken pot was very flavorful. Jimmy said it was the most popular of the chicken pot options. Steak was good as well. My son liked the French toast a lot. When asked about the filling, Jimmy said that it was a secret recipe. Of course! Food was delicious and came out fast. Service was excellent. Very attentive! Will be back.

The dog and bear ice were cute and a nice one time experience for a good Yelp picture. But, it was not easy to eat nor did it really taste like anything. The teppan set was delicious with just the right amount of seasoning. I loved that the skillet was hot enough to make some of the rice crispy. I've been to Singapore and I was totally missing Laksa and theirs hit the spot. The sparkling Mango soda was very refreshing and would be a great option for the summer. Looking forward to going back and trying other items. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place opens at 11 and they got packed quick and I can see why![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The restaurant is literally in front of 99 Ranch, not off to one side. That three me off when I was looking for it. It is fairly small but people are in and out so there was no wait while I was there. I had the calamari starter which was okay and nothing special. For my main I had the pork chop with tomato sauce and cheese over rice. The rice is actually a fried rice and was pretty good by itself. The pork chop is tender and flavorful but there's not enough compared to the amount of rice served...good thing the rice was good by itself. I also tried my friend's fried rice and it was very good but again nothing out of the ordinary. What tickled me was my Thai ice tea with a "dog" ice. It looked more like a kitten to me but still cute. The ice tea was tasty too so bonus.

This cafe is right next to (connected to) 99 Ranch. From the outside, it doesnt look like anything special but what got me here were Yelp reviews and I was not disappointed. The handmade noodles were delicious with the right amount of chewyness and the sauce was perfect. I do prefer spice so asked for chili sauce and what they gave me was super spicy! I think next time I am in thr area, I will come by to try their desserts! The popcorn chicken was perfect as well. Do not sit on this place and go eat there.

There was no wait when we came in for lunch on Saturday. [[HIGHLIGHT]]But it was almost all full.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was quick and efficient. Lots of options on the menu. All the food came out and it was delicious. Fried foods were perfect and crucnhy. Sizzling dishes had great flavor. Skewers were perfectly cooked. Portions were generous, we had lots of leftovers! The beverages were super cute, although on the sweeter side.

Conveniently located next to Ranch 99, Flame Cafe offers a variety of Hong Kong cafe staples. We had no trouble quickly getting a table when we came before noon, but I've seen lines before during the lunch rush. I ordered the toast, curry beef brisket, baked pork chop with rice, and baked fish fillet with cream sauce. The portions are ample, and the taste is decent. Nothing that will knock your socks off but enough to satisfy that HK food craving.

Flame Cafe has a great, cozy atmosphere, totally giving homey vibes with all the cute decorations everywhere. Festive LED lights brightening the rom while calm songs playing in the background.. just great! I ordered the Beef chow fun and pork chop baked rice. The pork chop baked rice is authentic, specially because the rice underneath is fried rice and not basic white rice. One thing to add is that there isn't enough sauce. Sauce gave the traditional cha chaan teng flavor though. The beef chow fun serving is kind of small, and the beef is kind of chewy. Staff is attentive, good experience overall.

The Vibe: Cha Chaan Teng chic. The Strategy: Eat first, regret nothing later. My Therapist Recommended This (Okay, I recommended it to myself) Forget yoga. Forget meditation apps. If you are having a bad week, the cure is sitting right here in this classic hk dish. I call this the "Emotional Support Combo". The Baked Pork Chop Rice: It's basically a warm hug made of cheese and tomato sauce. The pork is tender, the rice is fluffy, and the sauce is tangy enough to make you forget your problems. The Milk Tea: Silky smooth and served in that iconic Black & White cup. It calms the soul while simultaneously waking up the brain. The staff here are basically the care team--they saw my empty water glass and refilled it before I even asked. Total cost: Way less than a co-pay. Side effects: Extreme happiness and a full belly. Absolute comfort food heaven. My diet starts tomorrow (maybe).

I always enjoy coming here when I can for a Hong Kong style meal and it always fulfill a craving! It does get pretty crowded over the weekends but we were still able to get a pretty large group in! The service is pretty good overall and I did feel like it was pretty efficient! There's a large parking lot outside that it shares with 99 ranch but you're able to find somewhere to park!

This place is located right in front of 99 Ranch. The vibe is nice. They have cool decor like bear bricks. I only tried their Baked Seafood with rice and it was amazing! It had fish, calamari, and shrimp in it. Everything had the perfect mix and texture. Pro tip: ask for hot sauce and it takes it to the next level. The food came out quick and it was served fresh and hot! Service was great also. It filled me up but I wanted to keep eating because it was so good. I will definitely come back to try other items. If you've never been to Hong Kong, eating here will give you a glimpse of their amazing food. It's that authentic.

Came here for lunch and got the Thai tea with dog! It's so cute! But somehow it's not a dog but a bear!! Got the beef brisket noodle and chicken steak teppan . they sizzle in front of you which did splash on us a little. So sit further away! The beef brisket was not as tender as I'd like. The noodle was a bit too soggy. The chicken steak teppan was good. Huge bowl of rice. If you should your yelp, you get a lemon ice tea and it came with the dog!! The price is very affordable compared to the Bay Area. Will definitely come back to try other things if in the area.

好食,抵食 Pork chop in tomato sauce was one of my fav take out items from 大家樂 when i was at school. The pork chop here brought back so many fond memories. We ordered the seafood in cheese cream sauce as well, and some garlic chicken wings. I think both baked rice items are spot on and quite a bargain. The chicken wings are also pretty good, relatively less good value. The service was perfect, and the place is cleaner and more spacious than a typical HK 茶餐廳

Baked creamy seafood pasta and sizzling beef
    Leeana B.

Came here on a pleasant Sunday afternoon and was seated right away--no wait at all. There were four of us, but since we weren't too hungry, we decided to share two entrées and one appetizer: the curry fishballs, beef sizzling plate, and creamy seafood baked pasta. The sizzling plate was nicely presented and mixed tableside by the server, though I didn't try it myself since I don't eat red meat. The curry fishballs arrived hot and flavorful--not overly salty, but nothing particularly standout either. My favorite by far was the baked seafood pasta. The seafood tasted fresh (which I'd expect given they're attached to an Asian grocery store!) and the cream-to-pasta ratio was spot on. I also appreciated that none of the dishes were overly salty. The interior felt clean and modern. While the restaurant is on the smaller side, it still managed to feel cozy without feeling cramped. Overall, I'd definitely return to try more of their dishes! :)

On my latest visit it was a very busy Sunday, but I was able to place an order for take-out and then wait in my car for the order to be ready. I ended up ordering the pork steamed rice noodle roll, the beef and cilantro steamed rice noodle roll, the garlic long beans, and the beef and mixed mushrooms. I saw a couple of other Elites dining in when I was ordering, but it was so busy I couldn't properly say hi, so "HI DAVID AND EVA!" I'll have to keep an eye out for their next review, because whatever they had looked delish! I waited in the car for a bit and then when the order still needed a few more minutes I popped into the dollar store next door to kill a bit more time. Before I knew it my order was ready to go. They packed everything really nicely and we served it up as soon as we got home. Their rice noodle rolls are so flavorful and I love the sweet, salty and savory sauce that comes with it. The noodles are really filling, and the dishes we got would be enough food for 2-4 people depending on how hungry you are. We ate the rice rolls right away and then had leftover green beans and beef and mushrooms for lunch today. The green beans were fresh and had a great garlic flavor, without it being too much. The Beef and Mushrooms was great, the beef was tender and flavorful and the mushrooms soaked up all the sauce. There were also green beans in this dish, which was a perfect addition. I really need to dine in soon for the full experience, but take-out has always been a win for me.

We decided to try a little bit of everything and here is what we ordered: hot and sour soup, potstickers, spicy cucumbers, BBQ pork, BBQ pork fried rice, Mongolian beef, and honey walnut shrimp. The food came out fast and piping hot. Pretty soon our entire table was covered with dishes. We started with the hot and sour soup, which we both felt was lacking in the flavor department. It didn't have that spicy tang that you look for when you order hot and sour soup. The potstickers were fried crispy, but the dough was a little too thick. The spicy cucumbers had no flavor to them at all. And the honey walnut shrimp was not memorable. We both felt that the two best dishes were the BBQ pork fried rice and the Mongolian beef. The beef was tender and had good flavor. The prices were extremely fair and the portions were large, but all in all this was not my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area.

The restaurant itself also has a nice, old-school Chinese feel that adds to the experience. That said, there is a serious packaging issue that needs attention. The food is served extremely hot, and for takeout it is packed in styrofoam containers. In some cases, the heat is so intense that it causes the containers to warp or even melt through at the bottom. This raises concerns about food safety and materials leaching into the food, especially given how hot the items are served. On one occasion, I noticed the container had partially fused to the breading of a chicken dish, and I could actually taste what seemed to be the styrofoam. While I understand styrofoam is common for takeout, I would strongly encourage a switch to more heat-resistant and safer alternatives, such as waxed paper-lined or higher-grade containers, especially for very hot dishes. Overall, the food and service are excellent, but the packaging choice takes away from an otherwise great experience.

Adj: dependably and predictably ok Chinese food…read more We've been coming here for Chinese meals both sit down and take out from when they used to be Holiday Villa. That was decades ago. About 10 or so years ago, they changed ownership or rather they went through what seems like several changes and then they became Lucky Jade which is kind of a chain but not exactly. I recall at one time, the workers wear shirts that look kind of like uniforms with another store's name on the back with address and phone numbers, so apparently Lucky Jade is owned by people who also own a few other Chinese restaurants but not by the same exact name. In any case, Chinese food can be pretty formulaic, so it's not really that hard to have consistency as long as the cooks know how to make common standard dishes, the taste generally would not be too different. This is true for Lucky Jade. We had take out recently and got a chow fun, a chow mein, and a broccoli beef. The first was quite tasty, on the oily side but I've not found any place able to make it not too oily and still yummy so it's necessary for this dish. Then there's the chow mein, this one was not good. Kind of non descript and the oil tasted oil (reused). Not too greasy which is my biggest complaint of chow mein from elsewhere like New Lai Wah, but again, this did not taste fresh. Finally, the broccoli beef was overcooked. Broccoli was not quite mushy but almost, still a little bit of crunch but you can see they were turning yellow. And the beef was so chemically tenderized (hopefully only with baking soda and not worse) bc it was also almost mushy. Wasn't cheap either, but on par with other Chinese restaurants around here for take out. I think I'll just tell my in laws they can just order from Bel Air Hot Chinese food deli on Florin Rd which is in the same plaza and they'd pay less and the food would actually taste better with fresher oil (probably not reused) and better quality beef that doesn't need to be tenderized to a questionable quality. Overall, not too good.

The waitress asked if we wanted water or tea. Paper menus were provided. One was written all over so I think they should have probably thrown it away. The menu items are separated into different categories so if you are looking for a noodle, poultry, seafood or specific dish you can easily scan the menu. We opted for a little variety and ordered sweet & sour pork, cod fillet in black bean sauce, seafood fried udon and side orders of rice. The food arrived promptly. The sweet & sour pork and side rice was served first. This is a tried and true dish. Plenty of bell peppers and onions to accompany the pork. The flavors were great. The other two dishes arrived together. I always order the cod fillet in black bean sauce. It is always a stable for my order. The cod is cooked nicely and is a nice change from a fried protein item. The sauce is good with the rice and the veggies are cooked nicely but maintain a slight crunch. This was my first time trying the seafood fried udon. It was an interesting concept. I did enjoy the seafood (shrimp, cod, and squid). The noodles were a nice change from traditional egg noodles (chow mein or chow fun). I would probably stick with traditional noodle dishes. It was a little too different for my liking. Parking can be difficult during dinner hours.

I was excited to find a Hong Kong-style restaurant that also has KTV! The KTV rates are reasonable, starting at $24/hour. Recommended: * House Soy Sauce Chicken - tender and flavorful. * Shrimp Fried Rice - huge portion with lots of large shrimp. * Roasted Duck - crispy skin with rich, flavorful fat. Service: Fast and polite. Unfortunately, halfway through our meal, we found a hair on the roasted duck. The server immediately apologized and removed the dish from our bill, which we appreciated. While the restaurant handled the situation professionally, I hope they improve their food quality control to prevent this from happening again.

Service left a lot to be desired. They prioritize the to go orders over the diners. Got the 2-item rice plate with duck and crispy pork. The duck was all bones, the back part near the tail. I asked the server if that was normal and she got so angry and said we'd have to pay extra for a different section. I told her we'll pay extra and she took our plate away. They replaced those pieces with 1 cut up drumstick. The crispy pork was really good. The vegetables were completely cold. The table next to us ordered the same thing and specifically asked for duck drumstick or duck wing pieces and they weren't told they had to pay extra. The beef brisket clay pot came in a steel hot pot type pot, not clay pot. Full of tendon and ligaments, some cooked lettuce and daikon radish. This was underwhelming and not worth the price. The pork intestine clay pot came on a cast iron pan (like fajitas come on) and was stir fried with onions, bell peppers and red sauce. This was pretty good, but for sure needs to be eaten with rice. The crispy tofu is actually heavily salted and tossed with chopped jalapeños, red chilis and garlic. All you taste is salt. I would not order this again. Another table got the mushrooms/tofu/vegetables dish and that looked really good.
