The food is always great and the area feels comfy! The bar area is nice too. The only think I would change, would be more TVs.

One of our favorite places to eat all types of barbecue but they have many other items on the menu even if you don't like barbecue. Their hamburgers are excellent as well as any of their custom sandwiches and salads. I've also had their wings and they are big and have great flavor. Their sauces are excellent as it is nice to be able to pick from a few options. The staff is always friendly and attentive. Their beer selection is solid with many local beers on tap. read more

Unbelievable Wings! I was listening to my morning radio show "Brady in the Morning" and they ask who has the best wings in town. One of the callers said that the Flying Pig at Waterford had great wings so I thought I would give them a try. When I looked at their menu I noticed that their wings were smoked and not fried as I usually get them. I saw they had their "original flavor" and a "crispy wing". When I asked, what did difference was the very nice waitress said she likes the "crispy wings" personally and that they were good. The menu showed about six signature sauces that could be used with the wings or their barbecue. The sauces were on the table ready to be used. Helen purchased the two-meat dinner which came with pulled pork barbecue, pulled smoked chicken, cole slaw, macaroni and cheese, and a side salad. I ordered the crispy wings with honey barbecue sauce. I believe they dip the wings in the barbeque sauce and then place them on a grill or open fire in order to char the sauce. I have been to many restaurants to eat wings, and I usually get fried wings. I had never had smoked wings and could not believe how large they were, or how good they taste. We stopped by on a Wednesday afternoon around 1pm and they were not extremely busy, but they did have a good number of patrons at the time. The restaurant is a sports bar, but it was not very loud and it has an excellent atmosphere. This is an excellent place to bring the family, or to impress your date. Neither of us could finish our dinner, and the waitress even gave me covers for my blue cheese and ranch dressing containers. I did not even use them because the wings were that good. Huge nachos, ordered them with chili and they were served with pulled pork, also got the Barbecue platter which was very small and lots of fat. Tried the jalapeño poppers they are not breaded wrapped in bacon and quite good. Got the wrong barbecue tacos. As far as barbecue places go this one was average. Food was good, not great. The consistent mix up with our orders was annoying. I will probably skip this one . read more

Service was very good. Our waitress was very attentive. We had the jalapeño poppers as an appetizer. I have never had something so Smokey in my life. They were good. My wife had the burnt end tacos and I had the Mac and cheese with burnt ends. Both were very tasty. The only downside to the entire experience was the smell of the restaurant. Giving one star for mobile orders. I placed a online order at 4:47pm and estimated to be ready to be picked up at 6:30pm. I fine with waiting for food as long as the expectation is communicated. When I arrived to pick up my food at 6:30pm the waitress went to the back to check on the order and said they're slammed but my food will be ready in 10-15 minutes (more than likely did not start making the food until I got there). 7:07pm rolls around and food is still not ready. The manager comes by and says it'll be another 10 minutes or I can void my order. I voided my order and left with no food. If you're planning on eating here I do not suggest ordering online or calling for pick up. read more

This was mediocre barbecue at best. The host was nice, and the place smelled amazing! That's where the pleasantness ended. Our server did not know the menu, my potato was drowned in butter, and the brisket was poorly smoked/rendered...the fat cap was ridiculous. I would not call this place a Richmond area institution for food, but maybe for its reasonable happy hour at the bar. This had been hyped, and I was really let down. Driving into Richmond city or down to Petersburg would have been more conducive to a delicious, dining experience. read more

This place has great BBQ and the wings are smoked which is a really nice touch. While the food is great service can be spotty.

The bbq is fantastic but what really sets this place apart is the variety and selection. I had never heard of Alabama white sauce until coming here. It is great, by the way. My husband went all out with the sampler on this visit, so he got to try all the meats (pulled pork, pulled chicken, and ribs). I tried the pulled chicken for the first time. I prefer the pulled pork, but thr chicken did not disappoint. The usual Virginia sauce is my favorite (sweet red sauce) but there is definitely something for everyone here. read more

When visiting family for St. Patrick's Day we stopped by for lunch. The service was excellent! We were seated quickly and our server was kind/attentive. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The portions were huge. I thoroughly enjoyed my grilled shrimp tacos. My son loved his brunch burger (and it was huge). Others at the table enjoyed adding their own sauces to the barbecue. The only things that prevented a five star review were: 1) The women's bathroom was foul and the hygiene trash cans were overflowing (not something you want to see in the middle of a meal). 2) No plain ranch dressing. Not enough good things to say about this place!! I ate there for the first time today, and this place is now my absolute favorite BBQ restaurant. Had the burnt ends briskit sandwich with pork 'n' beans and pineapple cole slaw. The burnt end sandwich was to die for. Delicious and cooked just right with just enough sauce to make it tasty, chunks of meat just spilling out. The pork 'n' beans was the BEST I ever had. I'm talking almost a 50/50 ratio of pulled pork and beans. Outstanding!! Never had better beans in my life. The pineapple cole slaw is delicious. The pineapple gives it just a taste of uniqueness without being overbearing. Delicious! I also sampled their potato salad. It too was as good as any I ever tried. And my companion on the trip ordered a rack of spare ribs, and OMG... The sauce on those ribs was delicious, and the meat fell right off the bone. The service was excellent and I never wanted for a drink refill. Very friendly and not pesky. This place is just a gem. I have not had a meal this good in a LONG time. I WILL be back. Our waiter was friendly and accommodating, and although he entered my order incorrectly he made up for it with a huge pile of burnt ends on my sandwich and took personal responsibility for the brief delay. I see some people gave this place less than 5 stars, and I suspect either they caught the place at a bad time, were obnoxious, or simply had unrealistic expectations. From what I've eaten, everything seems to be fresh and made in house (i.e. wings, all bbq meat, smoked jalapeno poppers, bloody Mary and other cocktails...) BBQ is on point! The Flying Pig has a fairly complete menu, though I have consistently gone back for a few items. The dishes that I've had are absolutely fantastic, especially the Fried Chicken Sandwich and tacos. Usually there's a bit of a wait, but the food definitely makes up for it. I usually get a cocktail when I come, though they are usually not spectacular, a little light on the alcohol. The bar seems well stocked, so maybe they just make them lighter. Service is hit or miss. The male servers usually seem bored, uninterested or nervous. Once, the server (wearing plain clothes, from what I remember) started the conversation, and we had no clue he was server. Somewhat awkward situation, but really that big of a deal. Overall, my favorite restaurant in the area, and will probably continue going about once a month. read more

Came here while visiting family ... excellent bbq!! Huge portions and great food!! We enjoyed philly steak egg rolls that were AMAZING !!! Hush puppies were good, we also had lots of wings that were okay considering we're from the Buffalo area we're very picky. We also had the burnt end tacos and pulled pork that were both excellent.... Kids meals were good honestly looking at the plates going by there wasn't anything I saw that didn't look amazing !!! Even during a busy time of day our server was attentive and the food was out fast and hot .... They have nightly specials so definitely look to see what's on special !!! read more

This is probably the first barbecue joint that I have tried since moving here. The food is great! The grilled wings are to die for. We tried the honey barbecued ones and they were so good. I ordered half a rack of ribs with a side of Mac n' cheese and house salad. I am normally not crazy about trying Mac n' cheese, but this one was good. The service was okay since we had a young lady who just started. The restaurant was nearly packed, which means that the food is worth it. Finally got around to going to this place. It was everything that I heard from many of my friends.. fantastic! Went there for lunch on last Sunday pretty surprisingly not many people were there. A few more people trickled in as I ate but that was a little surprisingly. The service was very helpful and a pleasure to talk to. Food on the other hand was out of this world awsome. I got a barbeque pork pleated with baked beans and Mac n cheese. They had a mixture of 6 different sauces on the talk that were very good but I love spice so they offer a spicey & sweet inferno sauce that you have to ask for that was best BBQ sauce I've ever had.
