Hand Dipped All Natural Chicken Tenders

The Cobb salad is a Mountain of deliciousness! Not only is the chicken tender and juicy, but plentiful as well! The onion rings on top are unbelievably tasty and massive! One of the best salads I've ever had!! The service is always quick and friendly! And the place is cozy and pleasant.

I haven't been here in a while... I forgot how good this place is. Our group of 9 came here for dinner Sunday night and had the best time. The food was so good and came out fast and the service was excellent. A lot of young people work here and they do such an awesome job. We will definitely be adding this to our weekend dinner rotation. My only complaint was the orange crush I got didn't taste like it had any hooch in it.

Clean restaurant with a pretty decently sized BBQ menu. Ordered a hickory smoked pulled pork plate and paid an upcharge to upgrade the protein to Brisket burnt ends. I was a bit disappointed with the size of the brisket burnt ends, it was more reminiscent of shredded brisket and I found it to be too sweet. The sauce that it was cooked in was abundant and there was a little puddle of reddish oil at the bottom of my ramekin that held the meat. If you've ever had the boneless ribs from a Chinese restaurant that's what it tasted like. The pineapple coleslaw was good, however and a fresh tasting side. The fries were crispy and well seasoned, as well. I also enjoyed the house salad that came with the plate. Our server was really kind and attentive, the restaurant itself was very clean and I found the booth seating to be very comfortable. I really enjoyed how much natural lighting was present throughout the restaurant via the large windows. I would return but don't think the specialty meats (burnt ends) was worth it and would probably stick to other BBQ staples like pulled pork or ribs.

Half rack ribs, baked beans, and steamed broccoli; pineapple Cole slaw.

Came in late at night on a Federal holiday and found really great energy at the place! The Monday special is a half rack of ribs and a side, at half price, $13.95: What a great deal! There are booths, tables, high tops, and seats at a bar so long, there are three TVs showing sports. Parking in a strip mall lot, street entrance is handicap accessible, and the attire is casual. The BBQ was melting off the bone, perfect. Strongly recommend!

The food and service was awesome! We each had the pulled pork plate with Mac and cheese, slaw, baked beans and sweet potato fries. Aiden was very attentive as well as the front greeter. We will definitely come back.

BLT Burger

I brought my mom for her 80th birthday celebration, her choice. I ordered a blt burger and fries. I was expecting to see 2-3 pieces of bacon but what I received was one piece of bacon broken in half. If the beef wasn't there, would you still call it a blt? Serenity was a great waitress and also brought me a better slice of tomato instead of the butt of the tomato, that slice goes in the trash or cut up in a salad. I did enjoy the fried pickles, but my burger was just mediocre and the fries have no seasoning.

We have always ordered BBQ by the quart for carry out. We find that to be fairly convenient, since they are located in a shopping center. Parking is shared with other shops and can be tight. The service was slow and be sure you get some sauce. Pick up buns at Foodlion around the corner, and you have a great family dinner on a budget.

I am picky about BBQ (thank you Captain Obvious) but have to say we have hit on another really good quality BBQ restaurant. The Flyin' Pig was everything I needed it to be -- GREAT service, a wide variety of smoked meats, a good beer assortment, ample portions cooked well, and decent prices. First, the location.... in a suburban strip mall with a grocery store, doctors' offices, and several other restaurants (including 21 Spoons, which I have also reviewed -- great fine dining!) but the parking lot was a challenge. Getting inside, we were seated immediately. There are about 10 TV sets going with sports, not intrusive, and nice music playing from the past couple of decades. Despite what we learned was a short staff (one staffer went home unexpectedly just before we got there) we never felt rushed or neglected. Friendly genuine interactions with our server as well as another server who backed ours up bringing food from the kitchen. Food -- we ordered hush puppies that came with choice of honey butter or red pepper jelly. We got both sauces without any hesitation. The hushpups were well cooked, nice crust on the outside and soft in the middle. The pepper jelly was excellent (if a bit spicy for my wife) and the honey butter melted easily into the cornbread. Good start. I ordered a side salad to go with my main, which came out early (which is great.) A well thought out mix of greens, with generous amounts of veggies and cheese and croutons and corn (nice touch) and a honey lime vinaigrette I want to try to clone. Before I could woof down more than half the salad, our mains arrived. Wife got a brisket burnt ends sandwich and onion straws. The burnt ends were sweet-finished, like they had been rolled in honey as part of the prep and then left in a skillet. Nice flavor, would be too sweet IMHO if eaten alone but great on a sandwich. What I cannot understand is how a barbecue joint can serve brisket burnt ends but not serve brisket. My suspicion is that they buy the burnt ends and smoke them on premises, but I have nothing more than my logic to support this idea. Still, with pork and chicken and burnt ends on the menu, this was a noticed hole in the offerings. The onion straws were A MAZ ING -- crumb coat and perfectly cooked, could have been brought to the table a tad warmer. My wife declared them to be the best onion rings/straws in Richmond. Long live the king! I ordered the Bruce, which is a pulled pork BBQ sandwich and five wings with choice of sauce (nine sauces, four dips to select from) and choice of smoked wings or grilled smoked wings. I chose grilled smoked wings in spicy garlic. The wings were meaty with maybe a touch too much smoke (any further and I would have said bitter, but these were still in the tasty range), the garlic reasonable but not overpowering, and the heat level that was purportedly in the mid range was nicely spicy. The star of this portion of the meal was the blue cheese sauce for dipping.... it had chunks of green-veined blue in it that were big enough to pull out with a fork and spread on the wings for a really great tang. Little things like that make a nice meal even more memorable. But back to the pork sandwich. The sandwich, served I believe on a potato roll which made me doubt whether it was going to be able to hold up, was both sturdy and generous with the meat. Nice pork, good smoke flavor, smoke ring apparent on select pieces. Add to this a choice of two table sauces (sweet or spicy, and you know I went spicy) and this was a very good restaurant sandwich. With two teas and tax, the bill for all this was $58. Not at all bad, I think. Put this one on your Que rotation, near the top of the list.

I got the Chopped Brisket Salad. When the food finally got there, the salad had no brisket on it. Had to get the waiter to go get it. Flavors were all good, at least the brisket was tender. Everyone else's plate at our table looked good. This comes down to the execution. Very poor. Anyway, some days you nail it and some days you don't.

There are plenty of seating, indoor and outside. Service was nice and attentive, and the food came out quickly. Their menu had a lot of different offerings from burgers, to pizza, to entrees. FOOD: ~Sticky Ribs (4.5/5): actually fall off the bone tender! The sauce was tasty. Only thing was the ends were a little too burnt, but it wasn't inedible - gave that nice char taste. ~Italian Grinder (5/5): Typical italian sandwich, but the bread was so good. The roasted peppers added a nice kick, and the sauce was yummy. ~Fries (5/5): love battered fries! And they were seasoned really well ~Catfish and grits (4/5): the grits were wonderful consistency. Catfish was fried really well and was extremely tender. The sauce was so flavorful, but it was very heavy. At first I was worried about the huge chunks of celery, but thankfully, it didn't have that strong celery flavor and added a nice crunch. A really solid meal, especially for a golf course restaurant!

If I could I would have given it 4 1/2 stars, because it was good but not great but definitely well enough not to drop it to a 4. Let's start with the location: very nice and everything seems real clean and cared for. Even the men's room was decent at 6:00 pm at night. Now our server: Sidney was very attentive to us. She took very good care of us during our stay. Now the meal: Again it was good. The wifey had the Blackened Chicken Alfredo. She tells me the sauce had a nice flavor but the chicken really had no flavor. Certainly not a Blackened flavor you would expect. The chicken itself was good and tender. As for me I had Shrimp and Grits. It also was good. It had onions and peppers in it and again the flavor of the onions and peppers just want there. Who knows. We also had the Brick Oven Brie. There was a really nice amount of Brie. So much that the toasted bread ran out way before the Brie. So as I said this was a good place and meal despite my small hits in this review. I firmly recommend this place because I do expect you to have a nice meal. Ps. To the owners: your link to your website doesn't work via Yelp. It's a sports bar, so it can get pretty loud. I was grateful we were sat in the back corner, especially as that gave me a perfect viewpoint to admire all of the decor. The food was just as great. I ordered the crunchy club wrap with a side caesar, plus the "Grinch" deviled eggs (avocado) and their rice krispie treat special, which ended up being pecan. I got a to-go box for the krispie treat and had to crush it down so it'd fit...it's genuinely quite large. The festive holiday cocktail I ordered (velvet slopes) was soooo good too. Not boozy at all, either. Our server was sweet and prompt, and everyone we encountered was friendly. We arrived around open for lunch, which was perfect as the space filled up rather quickly.
