Since my last review, I have visited a couple of times. And during each visit, the food and service have gotten worse. I'm being very generous with this 4 star review. I'm chalking up not giving a 3 star review only because I truly believe management and the cook staff does its best to take care of customers. Tonight, we probably had the worst service we have experienced while dining out in over 5 years (and we eat out 2 days a week). We waited 10 minutes before a server approached our table, we received one of our apps but with no appetizer plates. We had silverware and no napkins and had to ask for those. The served stated "I will get you EXTRA napkins." The second app eventually came out and the server cautioned us that it was hot (which it was not...not even warm). My wife had asked for a Diet Coke 3 times before she eventually got it. The food came, and the server provided us with 2 bottles of sauce (which is normally 1 spicy and 1 mild). Nope...both were the same. The restaurant looks great, but I come to eat based on the quality of the food and excellent service. I won't be coming back for some time. read more

Consistency is the name of the game in restaurants and this place fits the bill. Three visits and three outstanding experiences. Jessica had the perfect friendly and professional disposition and was one of the best bartender/servers we have ever had. Today we started with a bacon Bloody Mary (house made bloody mix) - outstanding and unique, topped with hot crispy bacon! I had Buffalo chicken tacos and a wedge salad, both huge and delicious. My husband had burnt end tacos & 5 wings (smoked and grilled)- finger licking good! Wish we lived in this part of town so we could come more often. Highly recommend. read more

We usually love this place, but I was so disappointed tonight. Ordered the brisket tacos and asked for no sauce. These used to be my favorite menu item but I will not be ordering them again. They were swimming in sauce and the tiny amount of meat tasted more like ham than brisket. I'm guessing they used so much sauce to cover up the lack of flavor. Shouldn't call whatever that meat was brisket. Didn't want to send it back because I was with a large group. Our server, Grace, was delightful and did a great job with our large party. read more

There was a time I loved this place, now the Bar tenders are clueless and the help lacks experience.

Ate here for lunch around 12 noon on a Sunday. Not busy yet and we were seated right away. They brought us cornbread muffin before the meal as complimentary. Restaurant is clean inside and out and staff has been very polite and professional. Business has been constantly picking us as we are here. Everything arrived hot and fresh. We split and still took some home. The price is fair for the portions and quality. We hope to return soon. read more

They have a decent amount of draft beers and the BBQ is so good that I'm considering having them cater an event for us. We normally love this place but tonight was very disappointing. We came in at dinner time on a Saturday night & had to wait about 20 minutes which was fine. However, the costumer service was not good & the place was not clean. Our server took quite awhile to even greet us & our order of wings came before drinks. Another excellent dinner at the Flying Pig! Price isn't $10 per person but the quality is just so good and everyone loves everything...it's just worth it. We always leave with leftovers too. Appetizers we ordered included hush puppies and queso dip and chips. Entrees include shrimp tacos (with side salad), bacon cheeseburger and fries, BBQ plate, and more that I just don't remember. Happy hour specials were 1/2 off draft beer...but you better make sure to get your beer orders in before 6 (or whenever it ends that day) .... Price does go up if.you order more good draft options too. Quick to seat, fast to be served with drinks and take out orders. I love the food--hearty portions and recipes with a twist. My favorites are the buffalo tenders tacos, chicken and waffles, and the macaroni and cheese, which is so good. I'm a mac and cheese connoisseur, and this one is one of my favorites. They also have specials on different days of the week. Be warned, it's a bar and a restaurant, so sometimes it can be loud. If you want to escape the drinking scene, you will want to dine earlier. But it's worth the noise if you want a good meal, good service, and a fair price. read more

Very cool place, good atmosphere. Love the tap selection. Happy hour is awesome with killer beer prices. Good menu offerings. Has something for everyone. The cornbread that comes out for the table is great. We had the grilled shrimp tacos and pulled chicken tacos. Good portions for the price. Kiddos had the Mac n cheese and fries. My husband and I normally LOVE The Flyin' Pig and rave about them, however, the last couple of times have been less than pleasant. This time around neither of our salads came with the correct toppings. I ordered the Crispy Cobb and there were no eggs and no onion "straws" (actually onion rings). It took a while to flag down the waitress as she wasn't the one who brought our food to us. She ended up bringing me a boiled egg which is fine but she had to put in an order for the onion straws. 30 minutes and half a salad later we had to ask about them and she went to the kitchen and came back with 3 of them that were super crispy. We had to ask for refills multiple times. This is normally our go to when we are up this way but I think we'll try something new next time. read more

TL;DR: Great BBQ, good service. SO GOOD. My parents were in town, and I wanted to take them somewhere local that I hadn't been to either. We took a chance and decided to try this place out. Service was very friendly. She even tolerated my dad's bad dad jokes. She was attentive with drinks and clearing our table frequently. Food: My boyfriend and I got the BBQ Taster, as did my parents. Pulled Pork: So good. Even without the BBQ sauce, it had great flavor Chicken BBQ: So tender and juicy. Usually chicken tends to dry out, but this was great. Ribs: YES. It was perfectly cooked, tender and fall off the bone without being mushy. Mac and Cheese: probably one of the best mac and cheese I've ever had Fried pickles: Heavily breaded and seasoned (a little too seasoned for me). Loaded fries: Fries with queso, bacon, AND melted shredded cheese? Sign me up. Sweet potato fries: fried perfectly, and sweet but not too sweet. Assortment of BBQ sauces: I liked all of their sauces, but i think my favorite one was Southern Cane (I'm a sucker for a sweet and spicy sauce). Will definitely be returning here. read more

Great food and very attentive staff this place is a great place to get delicious dinner! Known for its bar food, it elevates itself with ingredients that are made in house. They have a variety of entrees, grilled and smoked wings, and tacos. Their salads are fantastic and huge! I'd recommend the half size. Even with that option I've never been able to finish it. They have a fantastic happy hour! Great drink specials! They carry a number of different craft beers and have nightly specials on top of that. This is a sister property to Wood and Iron. The menu appears the same in both places (or very similar!). The only difference I noticed is that this location gives delicious complimentary mini corn muffins to the tables. The overall vibe and decor of the place isn't anything special. Wood and Iron has a better ambiance, space and televisions for watching your preferred games, but the food is awesome at both places and worth a visit. read more

We were on our way home from a nice dinner at Burtons in Cary town and thought we should stop for an after dinner drink at Waterford Grill( such a great place if you haven't ever tried it) . They are closed on Monday so went to the flying' Pig and ordered a " house cab" and a beer and got the bill and it was 16.00 for the glass of cab!!!! We asked the bartender if that could be an error and she said no and we were the third table that asked that! Owners... you are a BBQ place in a strip mall . You literally lost 4 tables of customers bc you didn't read your crowd! We will not return bc you have out priced your area.. makes me sad bc we supported your restaurant from day one read more

This is possibly the worst service I've ever had but definitely the worst since relocating to Virginia. My wife and I were told the wait would be fifteen minutes, which then changed to thirty minutes from a woman who may have been the manager or owner. Not sure since she seemed to be doing everything, such as serving food, helping with takeout orders, etc. She had some terrible tattoos that looked like chicken scratch hieroglyphics, so I'll refer to her as Chicken Scratch. I was fine with the wait time so we went outside. After about twenty minutes we opted to wait inside and get out of the cold. We stood for another ten minutes, all the while I see a few empty booths that aren't being prepped or cleaned or anything. Finally we are seated at one of these tables...seems like the wait was extended for no discernible reason. Our waitress, who was very nice, came to take our order but warned the kitchen was backed up and it could take longer than normal. I said that was fine, the only thing I didn't want is for our main course to come out before we had finished our appetizer. She assured me that would not be an issue. So we put in our order (nachos to start then burgers as our main). The nachos came out a short time afterward and the waitress commented that she thought the kitchen was overcoming its backlog. My wife and I maybe had the nachos for two minutes when Chicken Scratch comes out with our burgers. This is literally the scenario I flagged to our waitress and I told her so. Chicken Scratch asked me if we had ordered these at the same time, as if somehow it was my fault for ordering wrong or that an appetizer doesn't get served first with time for the patrons to eat most of it. I told her we're not ready for our main course and she took the burgers back to the kitchen. Our waitress came by and asked if we wanted to reorder our burgers, which I took to mean we would be able to get fresh ones made as opposed to the ones sitting in the kitchen. I said sure. Chicken Scratch then came out with the burgers and asked to clarify if we were asking them to throw out these burgers in favor of making new ones. I asked if what that meant is that we would be charged for both and she says yes. All the while she is staring me down and speaking to me condescendingly about how because the food is done it has to be served now. I told her I just wanted the burgers to go and as well as the f'ing check, to which she said I don't have to curse. Actually Chicken Scratch, if you're going to talk down to me and act like I'm crazy that I don't want my main course that I'm paying for to get lukewarm while I eat the appetizer we've had for two minutes, I do need to curse as well as leave your poor customer service skills a befitting review. As I paid my check I saw her giving takeout bags to a customer who looked irate, and as she explained whatever they got wrong (in the same snide tone) he just grabbed the bags and walked away. Our waitress was apologetic to me at least about the whole ordeal. But at any rate, this horrible service ensures I'll never come back. Chicken Scratch, if you don't get why an appetizer and main course aren't to be served within minutes of each other, or can't make any attempt to accommodate the customer for an expectation that I was literally told would be met, you are not only in the wrong business but lack basic common sense. Its ok here. To be fair, our crew of rowdy nurses showed up(20+ with people coming and going the whole time) for a kind of going away celebration. However, the service was not great. Trying to be understanding, we didn't say much about it but the servers were seriously upset that we were there. Im not sure anyone's tab was cheap, so the potential for am amazing tip was there. Don't let the name fool you! I am not a connoisseur of pork, but their menu extends far beyond the pig. I am particularly impressed by their pineapple teriyaki grilled wings. Further, I am not really a fry person, but these seasoned fries were served pippin hot and were so delicious. Be sure to ask for Grace. She was very polite, super attentive, and was very patient with my son, who has autism, as he took a minute to decide on a burger and fries, which he practically inhaled!
