"Not terrible, just not the best might've been an off day." We stopped by this Flying Biscuit location for a casual breakfast, and honestly, it was just okay. We've been to another location that felt much better overall, so this one fell a little flat in comparison. The food itself was mid. We had the regular eggs, toast (which they forgot at first), grits, and pancakes but the pancakes weren't quite cooked the way we like them. The chicken sausage was a miss for us altogether. Service-wise, it wasn't bad, but it also wasn't engaging. No one really checked in on us much, and the energy just felt kind of... off. It didn't give that "oh yeah, we're coming back" vibe. We didn't even feel moved to take pictures and we usually do. That said, it could've just been a weird day or off shift. Tried this place based on the Yelp reviews. We had our two grandkids and our server, Dean, was very kind, helpful, and entertaining. The kids had French toast and the Texas shaped waffle. I had the breakfast burrito, which was very good and their grits, which were stellar. My husband had the hangover hash and he said it was very good. We brought home lots of leftovers because the portions were big. It's a cute and very colorful restaurant. We will be back to try their lunch menu sometime. read more

We finally made our first trip here and we will be back. I enjoyed the Biscuits, Eggs, and Gravy while my other table guests had the Mr Big and the Hangover Hash. Everything was tasty and served hot. I've stopped by this place twice. Once was during their grand opening week when they were doing their $1 deals. The second visit was about a week later because I wanted to give them a second chance, mainly because of the convenient location. The inside is very bright and colorful. The staff's personalities matched the vibrant interior. Everyone was very friendly and nice. My first visit, the service was very fast despite it being packed. My second visit, things were a lot slower even though there weren't many people there. We ordered: - Mr. Big (part of the $1 deal for their grand opening) - Stuffed french toast breakfast - Hot dirty bird - Bacon wrapped shrimp tacos Both times I was very underwhelmed by the food. The Mr. Big burger was meh, nothing special. The stuffed french toast was also just ok. It didn't really have that "french toast taste" to it. I did not like the hot dirty bird at all. Waffle was flavorless. The chicken was so thin, and the batter and seasoning did not taste like Nashville hot chicken at all. The only flavor I tasted from the chicken was some pepper. The service was lacking efficiency and curtesy for waiting customers. Tables had been cleared for 8-10 min that could have accommodated our party. We have now been here a number of times. We try to always sit at the bar. Lakera is one of the bartenders and always takes care of us. She remembers our drink order and my food allergies. It is wonderful to have such a great restaurant in our area. They were very busy so we sat at the bar. Bar tenders were amazing and very friendly. Food was outstanding. Upon the time we were being seated about half of the restaurant was open for seating...this made me a bit annoyed as I had other arrangements and meetings today. This hiccup delayed me 1 hour. Our server didn't take any notes on paper when taking our order, constantly having inaccurate recalls of our order. A bit careless as an important allergy note could affect someone. Additionally, they ran out of Mocha on a Sunday, though not a big deal. Though they should be ready and better equipped for the Sunday brunch hour... The servers didn't respond to us calling for their attention. We needed more napkins, but never got any due to the lack of check-ups from our server. On the brighter side, the food was delicious. We ordered the Biscuits and Gravy; it was a very comforting food, with southern-style grits and over-easy eggs. The texture was all soft and easy to enjoy. The gravy-sausage was perfectly seasoned. I came on a Sunday with my daughter for a brunch. We were told the wait was 30 mins (which isn't bad for brunch on a Sunday in Houston) but it moved much faster than that. I ordered the Oh My Grits bowl, and it was sooo delicious. I added chicken sausage, cheddar cheese, onions and potatoes. My daughter had the Wake up Burger with a sunny side up egg. She devoured it. I also ordered a Tequila Sunrise, It was a good price. Our waiter was Jaz. She's really sweet, attentive and friendly. I ordered biscuits and gravy and when I got the item it was missing the gravy and was just the biscuit and eggs.
