    Grilled poblano dinner and margarita

My husband and I came in for a late lunch and we were not disappointed! First impression was great. The decor is eclectic and the restaurant and bar are gorgeous. The service was very good and quick. We got the chips and dip trio for an appetizer and I ordered a shrimp taco and an Al pastor taco and my husband ordered the grilled poblano dinner. My husband had a margarita and I got the dessert drink. All of the food was fantastic and fresh. Everything was well seasoned and incredibly flavorful. Drinks were delicious as well. We will certainly be back to try more of the menu!

Stopped here from out of town without knowing anything about the place and I am so glad we did. The food was amazing and the staff were friendly. Will definitely go back if ever back in the area.

Parking: This location has very few spots for street parking, but since it's Bellefontaine I don't see parking ever being an issue. IF, the street parking is all taken, then there is Free public parking right across the street. Host stand: The hosts were young and seemed a little confused. They asked where we wanted to sit, then said we couldn't sit there, but choose somewhere else.. as I said, they were confused, not a great first impression. Server: Our server was Eric, he was very professional. He got our orders correct, checked on us a good amount of times to make sure our food was perfect and he made sure our drinks never ran out. Food: After we ordered, it only took about 10 minutes for our meals to be served. We both enjoyed our meals. Everything tasted fresh and cooked well. The only area we felt like could use improvement about the food, was the queso and salsa, those tasted good, but could be thicker. Bathrooms: They were clean and sufficient. Ambiance: This place is great for dates and meals with friends. It is not too loud, nice lighting, and We will be back.

Went to Flying Pepper today for my daughter's 11th birthday. Not only was the food amazing, they made a really impressive mocktail for the birthday girl.

Had a family lunch here. Appetizer was the trio with chips. guacamole is top notch, salsa is always good and cheese queso was rich and creamy.. Wait staff was excellent. Kept drinks coming, cleared table of dishes and gave us time to talk. Place was pretty busy when we went in but noise level wasn't bad. Really good lunch.

We've enjoyed many authentic Mexican dinners at The Flying Pepper Cantina and also their food truck. Decided to try the new brunch offering this weekend. We were not disappointed. Very nice but simple selections and as always, fresh and flavorful. We each had good, local craft beers. I tried the huevos con chorizo (eggs and chorizo) served with rice, beans, and plenty of corn tortillas. My better half ordered the Beto quesadilla. All the Beto items are a mixtures of chorizo, eggs, and potatoes. We both used the delicious hot tomatillo sauce. Delicious food and such an inviting and energetic environment.

Absolutely insane prices for a lackluster meal, won't be back.

The staff and service was very friendly, courteous and efficient. I will comment only on the menu items that we ordered for our meal. We ordered the $19 Calamari as an appetizer. While it was pricey for Calamari we felt for the Butcherblock's review reputation it should be worth the price along with maybe a generous serving. Sadly, it was some of the worse Calamari that we had ever encountered in any restaurant. It was deep fried, which is ok, but it was very thinly sliced and mostly consisted of breading! Along with what seemed like just a $19 serving of breading, the Calamari was apparently over cooked and the toughest chew, I think, we had ever encountered. It was obviously an appetizer that they did not know how to properly prepare. The amount itself, for the price, was also not very generous. As it turned out, that was probably ok, since we did not finish the serving. We did mention our disappointment to the server and an offer was made to prepare it again. However we unfortunately are the type of diners that never ask food to be done over again. which, of course, we need to do. Bottom line, don't ever waste you money on this appetizer!! For the entree's, my wife ordered the $54 Rib Eye. I opted for the $36 Parmesan Crusted Salmon dish. The Salmon was served over a bed of asparagus and covered with creamy garlic sauce. The presentation of the serving was very eye catching itself. The Salmon was baked to medium and was perfectly prepared. It was full of flavor and if you enjoy Salmon and would recommend this dish. Very satisfying serving and something I would order again. The Rib Eye entree was a little disappointing for a few reasons. First off, the owner of this restaurant is advertised has being raised on and an owner of a Beef Cattle enterprise so you expect steak is going to be the premier servings. We were a little surprised at how thin the 14oz rib eye was cut. It would seem it might be difficult to properly grill the steak to the level requested. In spite of the, we assume 14oz, steak being somewhat thin cut, it was tender as expected and the flavor was very good. The serving of onion rings on top of the Rib Eye, unfortunately, fell in the same category as the Calamari! The onions themselves, if they were there, were so thinly sliced and heavy with breading, that it seemed as though all you were tasting was crispy breading. Also bear in mind, along with the price of this steak, you will also have to pay for anything additional. You will pay $7 if want a baked potato with that steak. That is a little disappointing that nothing else is included for price of the steak. For really good 20oz bone in Rib Eye steak we have been to the Pine Club in Dayton. Along with the $50 something price, all the extras are included for that. You get great dinner roles, baked potato, salad and great stewed tomato's! We enjoyed our time at the restaurant with just a few disappointments. We may try lunch next time also. However for expensive steak, we will opt for the Pine Club.

I wasn't as surprised this time by the location in a neighborhood, something that gives it a very welcome feel and suggests with the addition of a covered outdoor porch with picnic tables that this is a good neighborhood hang. I was late for lunch, almost two but there were some folks still finishing up. Good vibe, good music and casual atmosphere. I opted for the Takoyaki app which was tasty and not so burning hot that it scorched the roof of your mouth. Also the right amount of mayonnaise as opposed to often an excess. The Ramen Flight was fun in principle but I wouldn't do it again. I unwisely and perhaps naively assumed there would be mini versions of the full serving of Tonkotsu broth with Mayo, Thai curry and Szechuan with scallions. But it really is just the broth and ramen. Expected the Szechuan to have some heat and peppery lip buzz but did not. The Thai curry was super salty. Just missed some option of veggies and protein. Finally I would suggest not sitting near the front near the stairs to the kitchen. The spot has competing music soundtracks with two different play lists battling between your two ears.
