From the moment we checked in with the host stand we were impressed! We were quickly seated and greeted. Jonaz was our server and he was incredible- he made so many recommendations for us, pointed out what's popular, what he loves and explained more about the flavors working together on the menu than would meet the eye! We also got to see Pascal, one of the managers while we were there! If you frequented Patachou in Clay Terrace...you know Pascal! We enjoyed an incredible cheese board to start our meal! Fantastic drinks- as someone who is currently pregnant I LOVED that they had mocktails that were not super sweet, that seems to be tough for a lot of places to get on the menu! We also started with the Yeast Rolls which sound so simple but were incredible. Moving on we had the Harvest Salad- I had never had pickled rhubarb and it was such a great addition. The black tea vinaigrette was amazing, fresh and light- the team in the back of the house knows what they are doing and is putting the work in on creating a perfectly curated menu with flavors that WORK! For entrees I had the Foraged Mushroom Bucatini with salmon added and my husband had the New York Strip. It's been a minute since we've been somewhere that's served a perfectly cooked steak on the first shot and this was edge to edge perfectly medium rare for him. We shared a side of the Spring Green vegetables- I'll dream about them, they were amazing. Jonaz helped my husband pick out a glass of wine to compliment his entree and knocked it out of the park. Now I'm telling you- you're going to want to eat all your food but you have to save room for dessert! How can you come and not try any ice cream?! We had the strawberry ice cream to split and it was a great end to our meal. I will say as we were leaving we saw a server walk by with a Toffee Crumble Sundae (I think that's the name) and let's just say that next time...we'll be trying that! We will 100% be back! I ordered the Peanut Butter Brownie Swirl cookie, the Pistachio Chocolate Crunch cookie, and two of the Pistachio Thumbprint cookies. My personal favorite was the Pistachio Chocolate Crunch cookie. This won't be short but here is what happened. I purchased a birthday cake from her for my daughter and it didn't make the ride home. It cracked and fell apart completely as shown in the pictures. The next day was a holiday weekend and she told me she would not be working. So I figured I would talk to her when I returned a tote she loaned me. When I went in I explained the situation and showed her the pictures. She had several customers in her shop when she asked me if we had tried to eat it. I had thought she was a nice person and hadn't gone in there to insult her so I didn't even mention that we had thought about trying to salvage it so cut a slice and it tasted horrible. There was so much powdered sugar that the favor was bitter. Not only that it was a carrot cake and there were no visible carrots, raisins, or nuts. She asked me to wait until the customers left, I said sure and sat down off to the side. Once every one was gone she immediately started yelling about how I should have called her sooner. She said because of this she would only refund half. I had approached her nicely and wasn't angry at all so I asked her why she was yelling and she said she was frustrated with me not calling her that night even though it was a holiday and my daughter's party was the next morning. She said that she would have made another cake at 7:30 pm that night and driven it an hour to our house. I wasn't really opposed to taking half but I didn't like the way she was trying to bully and scare me so I told her I would have to leave a review. She instantly said that she would offer me nothing in that case, she just kept screaming and waving her arms, getting more and more out of control. I was feeling uncomfortable and said maybe I should call the police. She was more upset about that and I explained I only said it in hopes that she would calm down. She however insisted on calling the police and I left the shop to wait. It seemed like a long time and the police didn't come so I walked up to see if I should keep waiting. She told me she would still give me half if I would sign a paper that she had written out a statement on. She was out of control again and said that was absolutely the only way I could get even a partial refund. I wanted to go home but wasn't sure if this was kosher with the police on the way. At this point because of her volitile behavior I was filming her. I thought she had some deep issues and wanted the protection. Wanting it to be over and knowing that her behavior was off I told her I would sign whatever she wanted. She kept yelling about lawyers and asking about my phone. We stepped inside and I waited for the paper. She came up to the counter and said "you keep doing this. Who are you talking to? What are you doing?" At this point she smacked my hand and my phone fell. For the first time I yelled back. I said "hey" and told her I was filmimg her and why. She shreiked "You are not filming me, you are not" I picked up my phone and went back outside. The police did come eventually. They told me she is just sensitive and I was technically not allowed to film on private property. They said that since I was not seriously injured there was nothing to do. They said that she told them she would offer half if I would sign her statement. The police seemed to think I should go with them back into the shop and accept a partial refund. She was going to get the paper again when she raised her voice to the police and waived her arms around saying "I want to know what she's doing with that video first. I want to know". I said I wasn't sure. The police officers asked her to calm down and then asked me if I would be keeping or deleting it. I said that I planned to keep it. She then said that she would not refund any portion of the purchase and finally I went home.

It was 3 layers, the top layer was about 4-5 inches and the middle and bottom layer were about 2 inches. We were charged $70 and did not get what we wanted. The moment I walked in the doors of Fire & Ice I knew Yelp did me good! The space is bright with a modern farmhouse feel to it. There's a fireplace, lounge seating, tables and chairs, and even a bar area (that's where I decided to sit). The ladies behind the counter were nice and gave me some recommendations. I went with their banana bread latte with oat milk and one of their biscuit sandwiches with egg and American cheese. Both were absolutely delicious and I would order again. I'll add that the restroom was clean, but the wifi wasn't that great. I ended up using my hotspot while I was there. This place is also women-owned and totally gluten free. Seriously, I had no idea until a friend told me a few days later. They're clearly a lot of things right!

There are a variety of tables, also some comfy corner chairs. You order at the counter then they'll bring food to you. We all got (plain) coffee. There's a small sugar station on the end of the counter, but you have to ask for cream. I also told a staff member none of us had been there before, and asked were there coffee refills (since the rest was specialty coffee drinks) or do we pay? She said we can have one refill if we come up. My friends got gluten free egg/biscuit sandwiches. The hubs got a crepe with strawberries, bananas and more in it. I ordered the Galette Bretonne - which is described as "a savory light Buckwheat crepe with City ham, Gruyere cheese, with sunny side up egg" and also comes with a side salad. Our food came fairly quickly. The crepe was visually pretty. The biscuit sandwiches looked like they had nice fluffy biscuits (and, gluten free!) - but they were on the small side (smaller than an egg mcmuffin). My galette looked nice but not like the photo (see pics of mine & one from their web) - and the egg inside was well done, definitely not sunny side up or even medium. I don't mind harder cooked eggs, but the whole effect was very dry, so I went to the counter to ask for some syrup. The server told me that he would have to charge me for it. I said fine, yes please, because my dish is so dry it's unedible without it. So he went back in the kitchen and did bring me out a small side dish of syrup (see also pic of that, for size). I had my credit card ready, but he said "this one's on me." I thanked him and sat down to eat. ... and yes, that syrup was just the trick to make the dish delicious! So this is the thing that makes a whole experience "meh" as opposed to "really nice": Between me & my hubs, our food and plain coffees were $42. (My friends paid separately for theirs.) For that price and just counter service, if a guest asks for a small side of syrup for the food, there should not be a side charge. I think the server who gave it to me realized that (but I would have paid it anyway because the meal was just too dry without it) ... But here's the thing - there was another staff member at the counter when my server gave me that little side of syrup. She heard him say "no charge this time," and her expression absolutely changed, and she looked mad that he did not charge me, and like she was about to say something (but didn't). Guess what? I absolutely saw that. And I totally feel like she was not only mad, but also that he might get reprimanded for it. (Might I add, we were also there when it was NOT busy at all, so there was nothing about the atmosphere that was rushed or hectic - although that souldn't matter, either.) And yes, of course when I went back to the table, I relayed that story to my other 3 companions. A little (little!) customer service goes a long way. And also is easily a deciding factor of whether or not a place gets a revisit. There are so many other places to try. #ReviewsByRL
