I was at the Foundry Grill Restaurant for a business lunch. It's never a place I would choose for myself, as it's purely for the tourist trade. My lunch started with a salad that was huge--more than large enough on its own for lunch. It was nondescript, for the most part. Not bad. Not memorable. I got it with shrimp, which did help a bit. I ordered the Brisket Sandwich with fries. The brisket was cut paper-thin. I guess someone likes it that way, but I wouldn't do that to good brisket. It was on a huge roll that overwhelmed it, so I just discarded all that bread. There was a nicely spicy red sauce on the brisket that added some desperately needed flavor. In general, I thought the portion proportions were just not right. It wasn't awful, but for the prices they charge at this tourist trap, "meh" just about covers it. read more

The Foundry Grill is the casual restaurant at Sundance. During our weekend, we came twice-- once for brunch with the regular menu and once for brunch with the buffet. The eggs that came with everything with the breakfast were great. I had the smoked trout hash and it was a little bit salty, but you can blame the "smoked" part for that-- the trout was great and so was everything else in it. My parents both had omelettes and liked them. Being able to pick your own fillings is nice. Bacon is always good, obviously, but it was especially good here. The highlight? The pancakes. Oh my God, the pancakes. And really, I'm not a breakfast person, but these were some of the best I've ever had. (Can you tell I was jealous of my boyfriend's order?) The blueberry ones in the buffet the next day were good, but not quite as much as the ones on the regular menu, but that's probably just the difference between made-to-order and buffet. You couldn't have asked for a better location to be nestled in an open a restaurant. We decided to stop by for Sunday brunch, at $35 a person it was worth every penny! I recommend making a reservation, specially on a Sunday, to avoid the wait. The All You Can Eat Brunch a Buffet is split up into sections. You have bottomless freshly squeezed juice, espresso bar and iced tea! You're welcomed by entrees (including Salmon) , followed by slices of Prime Rib and Turkey. There's an omelette area, you just let them know what you want and they make it to order. The dessert spread/table in the middle is super tempting and hard to avoid! There's an area with the BEST Brioche French Toast! I'm not kidding, you will want seconds, avoid the temptation, there's plenty to Eat! There's fresh bacon and sausage next to it! Make your own Smoked Salmon Lox sandwiches with fresh fruit and cheese spread. When I couldn't eat anymore, it was time for dessert and a wet cappuccino made with beautiful velvety foam. This is definitely the place to go if you're in Provo. Sundance was a wonderful place to have dinner. The menu has a wonderful selection of freshly created meals using top notch ingredients. Tonight I tried the short ribs set beautifully atop a medley of Brussels sprouts, butternut squash and turnips. The meat was tender and moist with a light marbling of fat. The veggies were cooked perfectly without being too mushy or crunchy. It was the best meal I've had in years! My dinner companion had the pork chop which was beautifully set on the plate with the bone still in it. Another hit and a favorite of much of the staff, as I was told. Normally passing on desert I had to break the rule and try their Apple pie. Served as a huge piece of freshly made pie with a scoop of cinnamon ice cream on top and cranberry compote on the side. It was served partially warm, but could have been a little hotter to make it a full blown ten This was a very special place and I'm sure it would be wonderful to celebrate a special event. They make you feel like a celebrity. I very much enjoyed the meal, the service and the ambience. read more

My favorite part of this was desert, but I'll get to that in a bit. We were finally able to get our timing right to have lunch here today and wow it was amazing. Both my fiancee and I had the Steak & Frites ($22) and it was perfect. My steak was a perfectly prepared medium rare as requested and the fries were delicious. My fiancee's steak was exactly as medium as she likes it and she enjoyed the option of sweet potato fries. We dined outdoors on the deck and it was the perfect place to enjoy our meal. We decided to check out the desert menu and right there was my favorite desert, Creme Brulee ($6). Now I'm a big fan of this desert and I order it everywhere I see it, so I'm a bit of a aficionado. I was a bit concerned when it came out as it had a large amount of stuff on top, blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries covered the top of the dish along with a couple cookies. This is usually a sign that they are masking a inferior version, however i am happy to report that nothing could be further from the truth. The caramelized top was good, if a little thick and the flavor, texture, and temperature of the custard itself was perfect. It was easily the best creme brulee I have had in Utah. When you add in that our server was fantastic, it rounded out a great dining experience. read more

Foundry Grill is a great restaurant in the Sundance Resort. It's my husbands and mine "special occasion" restaurant. We've gone for birthdays, anniversaries and just because. The prices are a little high but worth it at times. The snow is so pretty to look at in the winter and the patio is fun to sit out on in the summer. They change their menu per season (Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer). No matter the season, they always serve complimentary french bread or a bread with raisins. They are both delicious! I've had salmon, halibut, the burger, chicken and steak. My favorites are the halibut and filet mignon. A couple winters ago, they had a filet mignon with a wine sauce and it was absolutely delicious! Hopefully they bring it back soon. The desserts are also delicious and perfect for which time of year it is. Fruity and light in the summer and richer in the winter. They also do a buffet brunch on Sundays and my husband says it's his favorite buffet brunch! Definitely recommend this place! I'll for sure be back... a lot more times! read more

The best chicken pot pie I have ever eaten. And somewhat offbeat ingredients: in addition to yellow carrots, there were definitely yellow beets, and maybe even some pumpkin (maybe not.) Anyway, it was fantastic. The staff was really friendly and accommodating and had great drink suggestions. And even though there are no communal tables, it's the kind of place that naturally encourages interaction with the people around you. So although I don't know if any of the other food here matches up to the excellent pot pie, that seems to be the case since the 3 women I spoke with at the table next to me all were definitely enjoying their lunch. read more

This place needs about 10 more stars for the job they did yesterday for Mother's Day Brunch! I don't even know where to begin. It's been a full 24 hours and I still don't think I could eat a bite of food. 1) because I'm still full and 2) because I think anything else I eat would be such a disappointment after the phenomenal items of which I partook yesterday that I don't want to feel that today. They had Cold items, salads, unpeeled shrimp, smoked Salmon (the best I've ever tasted!!! I could have eaten a pound of this stuff had there not been so many other things I wanted to try), pastries (so light and fluffy, it's like I'd never had pastries before), cheeses, fruit, everything. It was a nice start to a great meal for sure (is it enough to call this a meal? It was more like 6 meals when all was said and done.) Then I went to the carving station and got the leg of lamb with mint jelly. This was no normal mint jelly, it had something else in it that was so tasty!!! And the lamb was so good. I don't know when the last time was I ate lamb, but this made me want to have it more often...at the Foundry Grill, anyway. The Pit ham and Prime Rib were also incredible, and the horse radish for the Prime Rib was the best I've ever had. Seriously, even the condiments were amazing! From there, I had breakfast items - delicious thick cut french toast, bacon, sausage (probably about the only thing I didn't really enjoy, but I'm not a sausage links guy, I prefer the patties), etc. ALL really good. By now however, my stomach it starting to get REALLY full. But I soldiered on. The next several plates included Teriyaki Pork loin, Blackened Salmon in Lobster Sauce and this macaroni and cheese with chorizo that was really good (though my Girlfriend didn't like it much, for some reason?) I also got the sautéed beans and various vegetable options, as I was really feeling a need for some fiber by this point. All, perfectly prepared. Then there was dessert, I didn't even know what to do. The kids had been eating giant, chocolate covered strawberries and caramels, and cheesecake bites and all sorts of delicacies for a while but the time I was ready for dessert, so I figured I'd try things they didn't. I got the chocolate chip bread pudding and strawberry/rhubarb cobbler. Both were REALLY good. I've had better home-made bread pudding and cobbler before, but these versions were both very tasty. There were so many dessert options I don't even remember them all. The only thing this place was lacking was a soft-serve ice cream machine. Not classy enough, I realize, but still - woulda been nice :-) I can't recommend this brunch enough. I hosted a shower for a friend here the other week. While I had a few miscommunications with them prior to night of dining with reservation numbers, and menu options with their management. It ended up being an delightful unforgettable experience with the upmost customer service. Riley the restaurant manager, was professional and accommodating and made myself, our honored guest, and other members of our party feel very welcome. It seems they've recently had new management and staff managing here, and seem like a fresh reset to the Sundance heightened customer service experience. I highly recommend dining in here for a casual ski day, a special celebration, or a night out with your partner and friends. It's a unique experience unlike any restaurant in the Utah area. The brussels sprouts are my fav appetizer, any of their mountain spritzers special drinks, both alcoholic or non alcoholic, their trout is wonderful, as well as their strawberry cake dessert. Their menu tends to be seasonal (thank goodness for that!) so whatever time of year you eat here, I would expect it to be equally as good. Will gladly eat here again! This is one of my favorite restaurants--has been for years. Robert Redford stopped by our table twice during our many visits. The setting is natural, relaxing, and stunning. It's usually cool, even in the summer at night, so bring a sweater. The menu changes frequently based on current fresh foods. It's best to make reservations. A wonderful meal in a beautiful setting. We were 2 adults and 2 kids, and were pleasantly surprised to find a kids menu. We were there in the off season so was quiet and lovely. The Tree Room was already closed, but I couldn't imagine it being any better. The food and atmosphere cap tired the essence of Sundance and made for a memorable dinner. I've been to dinner at The Foundry Grill multiple times but after tonights experience I'm not sure I'll be back. I had friends come in from out of town for the weekend and my immediate thought was to take them to Sundance for a great meal. The downward spiral started when we had been waitIng 45 minutes for our table (which we had a scheduled reservation for) and the hostess promised we'd be the next table sat. Unfortunately that wasn't the case because we saw another table of 4 get sat just a few minutes later. We then were sat and our waiter immediately took our order, but then we waited another hour for our food to come. Meanwhile, tables sat after us were already served and wrapping up their nights. Our food came and two of our steaks were cold so we had to have them remade. I asked to speak with the manager to explain how unfortunate the experience had been, hoping to receive an apology, and all I got back from him was "OK sounds good." All anyone wants to hear at this point is an apology. I then sat back down and finally received the remade meal. The manager walked over and asked how things were and I explained that I would have appreciated an apology the first time we chatted and rather than giving me an apology in that moment, he argued over me. I understand there are nights when things don't go as planned, but the way the conflict was addressed and handled by the management was distasteful. They ended up comping part of the bill after all of the confrontation, but we left feeling as if this restaurant did not truly care that they made the three hours we spent there terrible. read more

Stayed at Sundance for a week in February with my boyfriend, his sister and her husband. We ate at the Foundry Grill twice, once for lunch the day we arrived after not eating since 5AM EST (so anything would have tasted good) and once for dinner. Both menus were pretty much the same with the exception of a few entrees. BUT after reading all these reviews, the meal I really wish we made it to is brunch! Too busy skiing, no rest for the weary... The Foundry Grill has a rustic and unique decor with huge tools hanging on the walls. I liked the large chairs and that the tables are spread out so you are not on top of each other. The service was friendly and attentive too. My favorites of the dishes we had were: Marinated Roasted Beets, Arugula Frisee Salad, and Filet Mignon. It's a little overpriced for what you get but the coziness and convenience makes up for it! read more

Pretty average food for slightly more than average prices. I ordered the portobello mushroom sandwich ($14) that came with either fries or a side salad. The side salad is basically 2 butter lettuce leaves & dressing. I opted for veggies anyway & ordered a side of garlic fries ($6) which were pretty tasty, but not as much garlic as I would have liked. Overall, this is probably the best we could have done in the area for lunch. The lodge is great & everyone who works here seems genuinely nice & was in a good mood, so dining is pleasant. If you go inside to the bakery, there are really delicious looking pastries & sandwiches/salad to go, so that's a good option if you want something fast. read more

This review needs an update to reflect the transcendental experience that is the Sunday brunch buffet. I overheard this conversation with the hostess the last time we had it: "Are you guys doing some buffet?"..."Yes."..."How much is it?"..."$30 per person"..."Oh...well, I think we'll just grab something at the deli." It was like watching somebody buy a flip phone because an iPhone was too pricey. It's literally the best brunch buffet I've ever had. (Edging out Veranda in Vegas.) Chocolate chip pancakes with whiskey butter...amazing pot roast, lamb thigh on the cutting board, smoked salmon, chicken with potato gnocchi, mighty leaf tea, chocolate chip bread pudding, prime rib. That was the 2nd time - they had added several things in a couple months. Absolutely worth a trip from just about anywhere. read more

I must admit - I love this place. We decided to drive out to Sundance pretty last minute from Park City. We took the ski lift as far as it was go - SO worth it! It was incredible. - Anyway, we had dinner at The Foundry after walking the gorgeous, retreat-vibe grounds and explored a little bit. I would love to rent a cabin out there! Anyway... their food was fantastic. My husband got the burger and I got the pizza - seriously divine. We had some wine - I had a glass of the Predator which I really enjoyed. Our waitress was really friendly and even noticed that it was my birthday when she checked my ID! We sat on the patio - highly recommended when the weather is nice. The ambience was great - lots of people talking and eating with the sound of the creek nearby. It was so lovely! Another thing I love - they had lots of history, photos and articles along the walls to the bathroom. So fun to read! read more

definitely not what it used to be. appetizers were pretty decent, we got the dirty fries, truffle mac and cheese, and brussels sprouts which were all delicious. the margherita pizza was literally cheese pizza with 5 pieces of basil, i wouldn't recommend it. main course we had the steak with potatoes (bland and next to no seasoning), halibut (also bland. and how can you say it includes fingerling potatoes when there were LITERALLY three of them), and the pasta, which was actually delicious. for drinks we got the coconut stampede (good but super sweet, almost like a dessert drink), mountain cooler (super refreshing!), and seasonal lemonade (bland, wouldn't get again). finally, we got the flourless cake for dessert. it was small, which was perfect because it's super rich. you could definitely split it among a few people if you wanted to try multiple desserts. p.s. bring back the canyon breeze!!! read more

A delicious lunch in a restaurant that felt like a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of a big city. We sat in the patio area with a tiny waterfall to provide some ambient background noise. The lunch prices, we thought, were surprisingly reasonable considering this was the Sundance resort. And lest you think that the decent price meant a small quantity of food, the dishes were very generously portioned, particularly if you had a salad. Wow, what not to like? Even the children's dishes were generously portioned and reasonably priced. Wait staff was attentive and friendly, albiet we were eating lunch in mid-afternoon so things were probably pretty quiet by this time. Would not hesitate to return again if we were in the area as it turned out to be one of our most relaxing meals of our 2 week trip. read more

The angel hair was over cooked and over salted, and the grilled veggies were dried out and over salted. The rest of our party of 8 had similar feedback. Extremely attentive service, though too many questions at times. Uninspiring wine list. The Owl Bar next door had a more interesting wine list, but hypnotizing live music. The Foundry Grill offers some of the best food in the state of Utah. I went to the Foundry Grill with my family a few weeks ago, and the service and food exceeding all our expectations. I ordered a margarita pizza, the ingredients combined for a perfectly filling, fresh taste. From the burgers, the steaks, the salads, all the entrees are amazing and the waiters offer courteous, engaging service. Do yourself a favor and eat at the Foundry Grill. read more

The Foundry Grill is an outstanding, casual restaurant on the Sundance Resort property. I've never had a bad meal here, though I recently tried the quesadilla appetizer for the first time and found it a bit too spicy for my taste. The ribs are outstanding, as are the steak sandwiches. All the Robert Redford sitings I've heard of have taken place next door in the Tree Room but, who knows? You may get lucky. read more

I took my Aunt here who is visiting from back east, and my mother. They ordered the Steak and wedge salad. The quality of the steak was awful. It didn't even look the way a steak should when it's been cooked, no nice juices from it at all. I would expect superior cuts of meat for that price. I got the burger and it was fine, not a $19 dollar burger but at least it tasted good. The complimentary bread is very yummy. Our waiter was good as well. I've eaten the fish tacos here in the past and they have always been pretty good. I just love the ambience of the mountains and wanted to take my Aunt somewhere nice, but I was disappointed. read more

We requested to sit outside and they claimed the patio was closed due to rain( it was 75 degrees and sunny) for the rest of the night. we then walk out 40 minutes later to the patio full of people. Nice setting, especially on the patio during warmer weather. My reason for only 2 stars is food ingredient quality... they use soybean oil in the fryer and farmed salmon on salads/entree. A nice place like this should not cut such corners and upgrade their ingredients. This is UT and we care about what we eat!!! Happy to pay more for better quality. read more
