We looked for a place that provided a shuttle to Soldier Field and ended up at Franklin Tap. The food was good, the portions were plentiful and the service was good considering how busy they were. Someone came around and explained how the shuttle worked which was great since we were first timers! The shuttle ride was 15-20 there and maybe a 10 min walk to the stadium. We opted to walk back as we left in the 4th quarter and it was about a 28 min walk back. Not bad and no issues getting out because it's right off the highway so traffic was minimal. We'd definitely go there again next time we're in town. read more

I came here for a few happy hour drinks with a friend of mine. The Franklin Tap is located right near my office and in the area of union station and several CTA stops. We ordered cheese curds and I had a couple of the signature drinks. This place has your standard fare - it's pub food and drinks. For their location in the city - the price is good. Very reasonable. The service was good too. It is your average happy hour event - lots of employees from businesses in the area. I will most likely go back for another happy hour. read more

Decided to have lunch from a local spot near my workplace. I ordered the turkey burger to go w/a side of fries. Got back to my office (which is across the street) and noticed the fries were dark (as if they sat in grease for a while) and very hard. So I decided to give them a call considering the fact that I only enjoyed half of the meal as the fries were tossed. $14 for just a turkey burger, no way. When I called this establishment, a female answered, seemed interested in my concern initially however she asked if I could hold for a second then about a minute later a male answered the line. I wasn't informed that my call was being passed on nor was I informed of whom I was speaking with. Anyway, I re-explained my concern to him, his attitude was very oblivious to be in the food service industry and me as a consumer. And I quote "I'm not really sure why the fries would turn hard in a to-go box, if anything they would turn soggy it's kinda out of my hands with a to-go order". Huh?! And that's my point, they shouldn't have been hard, period especially in a to-go order. My office is 4 minutes away in walking distance, they wouldn't have even been soggy within 4 mins. less than on hard. Nothing was said, asked of nor offered to make it up, rectify the concern just nothing! I was at a lost for words more-so HOW my concern was handled - My workplace frequents this place and its sad that my concern was handled this way. Unacceptable and I will not be back. ************************************************************************ Now, after my review (same as above) on their Facebook page, I received an inbox! I was excited as I thought it was a personal reach out to rectify the situation, boy was I wrong! Not only was the attitude nonchalant but the facts were incorrect and an ATTEMPT to correct my concern still, was not offered. They're response was basically "you get what you get, esp. when the food leaves our doors!" Now, I don't know the reasoning for the in-boxed response, it seemed more of a lesson on condensation and what "others prefer' which has nothing to do with me or the concern at hand and STILL didn't rectify my super hard fries that had to be tossed. Franklin Tap is a great place to grab a drink while in the loop. It is less than a block away from Willis Tower and always has been craft beer selections on tap. The inside is pretty bland but is well spaced and open, nothing more than a good spot to grab a beer after work - which is good in my book. read more

Stopped in for a quick lunch at about 11:45 am on a Thursday as Franklin Tap is conveniently located around the corner from our office. Upon entering, our party of six was told by the hostess that IDs would be required in order for us to stay (our group ranged in age from 29 to 57). One of our party had left her ID at her desk, and we told the hostess that we were not planning on drinking, so she reluctantly seated us. Once seated, our server went around the table and demanded that we each produce an ID and when he got to the person who had forgot her ID, I calmly told him that I could vouch for the fact that she was 29, and that none of us were planning to drink. He told us he'd have to check with his manager, so left, came back and said, "my manager told me she has to leave..". Well, we decided to all leave, and I was able to find the manager on our way out (kinda gutless that he didn't come to the table himself to explain the policy).. as I started to question him about giving up a six person lunch tab, he rudely told me "we don't break the law here." When I questioned why there was a family of four with two kids below 10 eating, he said "well they are obviously with their parents..". Needless to say, we walked three blocks to Just Toasted, and had a nice lunch, no IDs required. Just Toasted is a bar/restaurant similar to Franklin Tap, so I suppose they are either law breakers, or perhaps they have a different liquor license. Anyhoo, our experience at Franklin Tap was not memorable, and the manager on duty presented himself as a gutless d-bag. Not sure if this place has gotten in trouble for serving underage patrons, but if that's the case, yet another reason not to patronize this place. We won't be back... read more

Obviously service is server dependent and I don't recall having issues in my first visit, but during my second visit I felt completely neglected and disrespected as a customer. My server "Kristin" would disappear for 15-20 minutes at a time before checking in. One time I was ordering an item and she stepped away abruptly before I could finish my order. Later I requested the food item that she didn't give me time to order the first time around and she still didn't put the order in by the time she brought back the bill. My coworker also had to yell at her aggressively to get her attention after she ignored our table for a while. I'm not sure if she was just having a rough day or if my coworkers and I were the wrong type of people. I hope in 2020 it was the former. Not very interested in returning. read more

Located near the business districts, this place feels more like a "working man's" sports bar than the businessy cocktail bar you'd expect to find in the neighborhood. Q: Why would 95% of a sports bar's tables be reserved at 3:30 on a Thursday? A: Beats the hell out of me! I think they should change their name to "Reservations," and their slogan can be "Sorry, that table's reserved!" I don't understand why I'm having such trouble finding a job these days. I mean, I doubt the employees of the month are the ones reserving tables so that they have a spot when they arrive for a few beers at 3:30 on a weekday. Rhonda G, me and the rest of the group would've been SOL had it not been for a few tables reserved for 5:30 and beyond that we borrowed in the meantime. It didn't come without a price, we were only reminded that at 5:30 our table turned into a pumpkin a dozen times. I've seen the phrase dive thrown around about this place in a few reviews and I'm not sure where that comes from. This place is far from a dive, the interior is new - stone floors, newish tables and chairs; the place is clean; the drinks and food aren't cheap; and the menu has things like panini on it. No, it's not a dive, it's just a mediocre sports bar with TV's everywhere. I ordered the All Grown Up Grilled Cheese and got a salad as my side along with a $2 Miller Lite on special. $7.95 for a grilled cheese and side seems like a rip off, I mean they just swapped out Wonder for egg bread, added some Provolone and sliced tomatoes. It was decent, but hardly sophisticated; I was experimenting with multi-cheese grilled cheeses in my single digits! Our server was nice and very attentive, but we were very abruptly booted from our tables around 5:15 by some guy who worked there. All we got was an "I need this table," whatever happened to the words sorry, excuse me, or please? We were headed out anyway, but manners are always appreciated. Bottom line: There are other places in the area I'd prefer to get my drink on, but you wouldn't have to drag me kicking and screaming to come back here. read more

Despite being closed some weekend evenings (was looking for a bite after a theater show downtown), it is a nice happy hour hangout and even good for groups. With walls covered in taps it surely has a good selection on draft at all times. The specialty drinks are good too with cheap vodka drinks and margaritas. When visiting with a work group we've sampled the menu back and forth. Most of the food is tasty or at least interesting. I recommend the hummus or the pretzels. read more

Was recommended to a few friends of mine who work in the loop (I work in river west so often not down much), got there at 5pm and almost every table was taken. Do not use their free shuttle. They run a number of buses to the game but only 1 back. If you miss it you're stranded. Poor way to attract new or additional business. $8 to park your car is great until you have to spend $48 to Uber back to your car because you missed the one and only bus back. read more

Once we ordered the food it came quickly. But the service.....could our server have cared any less? Slow to place the beer orders, slow to take our food orders....understandable if the place was busy but it was not. She could not split checks, but it was clear she has no interest in trying to do so.
