    Crispy Pork (Heo Quay)

This Banh Mi shop was recommended to me for their Crispy Pork Belly (Heo Quay) Banh Mi and it turned out to be a great recommendation! They have plenty of other sandwiches on the menu, but trust me, you must get the Crispy Pork Belly Banh Mi. It was a satisfying meal and the pork belly was perfectly crispy and flavorful. The cardboard box packaging is a unique and the sauce and veggies are separately packaged to the side, so the sandwich doesn't get soggy. I didn't try the other sandwiches, but they didn't seem as noteworthy, so you definitely want to get the Crispy Pork Belly Banh Mi. Another thing is that it can be quite heavy, so feel free to split it or save the other half for another meal.

Food - I was very much into the crunchy pork skin with tender, fatty meat. Plus the accoutrements of pickled veggies, fresh cilantro and sauce just added the balance needed for a perfect sandwich. Coffee - decent, not the best. Cleanliness- decent Restroom - clean Service - made to order, but appropriately fast. Ambiance- basic, eat and go. Limited seating Parking- street ( luck of the draw) Would i return for another visit? Yes. Price - appropriate for the quality

I went to this restaurant by luck because I was eating next-door with my friend doing lunch, and need to buy a Vietnamese sandwich for my wife for dinner I was going to try a place but not give this place to try due to quite a few customers in there. I ordered crispy roast pork sandwich one for my wife, and I usually buy house special cold cut Sandwich and after taking home, heating countertop oven after the bread is so crispy my wife loved the roast pork. She said it was crispy and the cold cuts were so tender with fatty meat it was delicious and in my opinion, I think it was a little better than our go to place banh mi my tho as every Sandwich come with their house sauce for the sandwich, which was truly amazing. Even the box was a surprise how nice it was I will definitely go back more often if I can as I don't in the area.

Decided to pay a visit since a friend of mine recommended this place and wow they are quite generous with their meat! Crispy pork belly was delicious, however I do wish some sort of aioli was included in the sandwich... or simply more butter or pate will do? Will have to give them props on including a liquid-y, wet sauce on the side for you to pour into your bread or dip if you wanted extra umami. Their bread is also so fresh, fluffy and crispy, it holds the meat and everything else wonderfully together. I know alot of banh mi places offer to put the veggies on the side but because they pack their baguettes with so much meat, I was kind of having trouble putting the veggie in and my bites were kind of imbalanced with too much veggie and/or meat (I know, first world problems right).

Great and swift service they have seating but it's nothing special. Lots of people grab and go. Very flavorful and not your average basic bahn mi. The Dac Biet special itself has pork skin so soft and tender. Meats were sooooo packed in, I had to remove a couple to the side to stuff veggies in. They give very little veggies even when you ask. But they pack it to brim with meats and pate so I guess it makes it even lol They have a special crack sauce too that I use to dip the plain parts of the bread. Very savory and good! Def unique and I see why this place has such hype. Mela drinks are also available here love the watermelon one. Def been sleeping in this spot since it's tucked in lol

I will always hype this Banh Mi place up. Every single person that I have introduced this place to fell In love with their pork belly sandwich. The pork belly is melt in your mouth with the perfect crisp. The bread is baked fresh in store and housed snuggly in the cardboard box. And the garlic soy sauce on the side works wonders in tying all the flavors together. But the star of the show is the thick spread of pate. Something about it just boosts the umami of the entire sandwich. Don't forget to add the pickles for some acidic balance. I like to phone in my order prior to arriving. The cashier is always super friendly and will offer a cup of water while you wait. There is always ample seating inside as it is mainly a grab and go establishment. They have since opened a second location in San Gabriel, so Check that one out if it's closer to you. And my favorite part is the quote on the sandwich box that perfectly sums up the experience : "It's not just a Banh Mi.... It's a Memory" ....... And I'm still thinking about the sandwich

Back to try some more banh mis. So let's see if they're pretty good eh or ew. Everyone here is always so nice and hardworking and this time I got their passion fruit drink, homemade yogurt, special and pork meatball banh mis to try. The passion fruit drink was super bright sweet fragrant and fruity with crunchy passion fruit seeds and chewy rainbow jellies at the bottom. The homemade yogurt was the perfect creamy consistency, tangy, tart, and actually really yummy. Lowkey thought it was like coconut pudding or almond jello at first but it's yogurt. As usual super thoughtful banh mi packaging to make sure nothing gets soggy. And both had light crisp airy bread with plenty of fresh crunchy veggies, rich mayo and pate and plenty of meats. The special one had savory flavorful pork belly, crunchy pig ear, and bouncy Viet deli meats. My grandma's favorite type of banh mis are the specials and she thought this one was really good. Personally not for me. I did really like those meaty, soft, tender, savory meatballs with light crisp croutons in the banh mi tho. Affordable, quality, fresh, and super nice people. Overall this place is still pretty good. Passion fruit drink $6.50 Yogurt $3.50 Special banh mi $9 Xiu Mai Banh mi $9

This review is only for the pork meatball sandwich (xiu mai). Flavor was adequate but it was extremely black pepper heavy. It was also as if someone spilled black better in the meat and still served it.

The crispy pork sandwich was sooo delicious. I highly recommend. The bread was nice and soft on the inside. The chicken banh mi was a bit on the salty side but pretty decent. The special ham and grilled pork ones were also good. I'm not the biggest fan of their flan. The custard seemed overcooked a tad bit. The caramel was too bitter for my liking. The drinks were good too.

Overrated and SUPER DIRTY.... I ordered the No. 1 (Crispy Pork) and No. 2 Banh Mi, has really high hopes with all the reviews. We ordered and was look for a table, every enemy table was dirty and had left over food not only on the table, but on the ground as well. We were there before 12, so still early before the rush. We spent 30 mins eating there, no one single employee came out to clean or sweep, they were busy collecting your money, but zero cleaning. If the front counter can be this dirty, can you imagine the back of the house area. The place is just a MESS!!!!! After eating I got a serious stomach ache. As for the taste, the Crispy Pork was meh, taste less, crispy pork was crispy, but zero taste, any Canto Roast Pork in the 626 would have beaten them hands down. The No. 2 was the better sandwich, but was too salty for my taste. Overall Score Price 2/5 Cleaniness 0/5 Taste 2/5 Presentation 5/5 Total Score 9/20

So this Banh Mi spot came highly recommended by some fellow Elite Yelpers while at an event last week. So of course I had to try it. I ordered the crispy pork Banh Mi sandwich. Henry offered us complimentary tea... that was nice. We shared the sandwich and it held up to the hype. I'll be back... paid in cash for a discount. Free parking in back or on the street. This spot is an OG and super small. I look forward to coming back.

When this place first opened, their banh mi sandwiches were selling out - you had to try to order early to snag one of the banh mi. I've had the pleasure of being a repeat customer the past few months, and I have to say that Hoa Phat is up there on my list of favorite banh mi spots. I've only tried their special ham (currently $6.75) and crispy pork ($7.75). Both are really tasty, but different. Crispy pork is slightly on the saltier side, but you get the crispiness of the bread and the pork - it really fulfills that crunch need. Pork comes with a variety of cold cuts, but also some slices of the crispy pork. With the pate and mayonnaise and crispy bread - wow, it's like a party in my mouth. It's that good. This place took over the small bakery that used to be located in Alhambra. There's a few tables inside. Small parking lot/street parking. And you can order via phone, which is nice. Drinks are not too pricey, and they're all pretty strong. Definitely one of my favorite banh mi spots in the SGV!

The broth tasted very light and not too greasy or salty so that was enjoyable. The quality of the meat was very dry and wasn't tender so that was very disappointing. The portion of meat and noodles given wasn't plentiful so that was a bummer. The basil, bean sprouts, and lemon were decent and so were the complimentary sauces. Overall, I wasn't too impressed with the pho and even though it was reasonably priced, it didn't seem to be worth the price since the pho tasted very underwhelming.

We started with the rice cakes and pork spring rolls. The rice cakes were soft and delicate, while the spring rolls were packed with fresh vegetables and had a nice balance of textures. The broken rice plate was another standout. The sweet and savory fish sauce soaked into the rice perfectly, and the assortment of meats was well-seasoned and flavorful. The vermicelli bowl was fresh and satisfying, featuring aromatic lemongrass pork that was beautifully charred. The pho was the highlight of the meal. The broth was rich, fragrant, and full of beef flavor. The noodles maintained a great texture, and the meats were tender. The meat tasted old, the rice was poorly seasoned, their complimentary soup you get when you first sit tasted like poultry. I know there's chicken feet in there but it didn't taste like 'chicken' it tasted like when you walk in to a poultry soup. It tastes like how the poultry shop smells. If you haven't been to a poultry shop, it tastes like if you're around a lot of live chickens. My brother got the brisket. It was the worst he's ever had too. He said it was chewy and lack flavor. They might be cutting costs because the economy is bad. I notice a large portion of their menu was covered up or dishes crossed out. Even the beverages got cut! You can only get like 3 different beverages which are ovaltine, coffee, and something else. They even cut out lemon ice tea. They're a mom and pop shop and it would be sad if they're out of business because of that reason, but the food was unfortunately not good. Service was really good though, but we were the only ones there majority of the time we were dining. The price for the hainan chicken was about $17, brisket was about the same. I don't remember the exact amount. Just listing that here because Yelp's prices are way off. Could be old pricing from a while ago.

We ordered the nem with Vietnamese grilled pork sausage (3 pcs), charbroiled sliced pork, and egg rolls after noticing almost every table ordering it. It definitely lived up to the hype, so delicious and huge portions to feed 2-3 people. My new first choice for Vietnamese food in the 626 area!

I came by on a Friday at 7pm for a dinner (weekend before Mother's Day) and was able to get seated in 15 minutes. They have a Yelp waitlist but you must go in person to join the waitlist. There's a spacious parking lot but there's rarely any spots available and will require you to wait for a free one. The interior is honestly very pretty. It's decorated with overhead chandeliers with bright lights and marble tables. When your table is ready, they also give you a tray full of chopsticks, napkins, and forks. Each table also has hoisin, sriracha, chili sauce, and another sauce I'm not too sure about. After we ordered, I got my pho da biet maybe 5 minutes after. The cha gios also came out a few minutes after too. Unfortunately, my boyfriend's com tam was forgotten about until after I devoured my pho. We even asked them about it in the middle and it was checked on but we weren't updated and thought they had went ahead and cancelled it but it still came out. No biggy, we packed it to-go since we basically split the pho da biet. Food: Pho da biet (9.5/10): The pho was soooo delicious. It was meaty with a little bit of sweetness to it. This is one of the few places where I don't feel the need to sauce down my pho to enjoy it. There's a good amount of meat in here. If you're a tendon enjoyer, there's about 3 big chunks in here. I love the way they separate everything. If you order this, it comes with the stone bowl at no additional costs. They separate the noodles and ribeye on the side and let you "decorate" it yourself. There was also a good amount of noodles in here. Com tam (7.9/10): I thought that this one was just okay. We got the grilled pork and grilled pork chop and I thought that the meats were cooked perfectly. There was a nice char to the meats and it was seasoned deliciously. It came with a lot of rice and a side of soup to enjoy! I did enjoy this fish sauce more than the one that came with the egg rolls. Overall, I wish this dish came out the same time as the pho so we could've enjoyed it together. Cha gio/Imperial Rolls (7/10): I love egg rolls but this one didn't really stand out to me. It comes with a good amount of vegetables that you can use to wrap your egg rolls in. I wish the fish sauce that came with this was more salty. Maybe it was that day, but I couldn't really tell what was inside the filling. It was all mushed in together instead of different layers. The skin was very thin and crispy which I really liked!
