Hal's Club Sandwich
Jeremiah B.

First time trying, ordered the Hal's Club. Looked great, started eating and it was pretty dry. Meats, cheese, bread great. Opened it up and the avocado was non existent same as any other condiments. I had to ask for mayo from the cashier. Place looks nice. I'd still go back and try something different.

FINALLY got a chance to try Pulciano's as they don't open on weekends and close earlier on weekdays. As you know, I judge a sandwich place by the 'Italian grinder' and then the meatball sandwich so I had to get both on my first ever visit. I'm happy to report that the bread is good as are the ingredients. Both sandwiches lived up to expectations and it's tougher when people have high expectations. You should come here and let them make you an offer that you can't refuse! Check out my pics!

My first time here and all I can say is wow! Super friendly service, very helpful in their choice of sandwiches. It is very clean inside with a few tables inside and outside. The bread, meat, vegetables were very fresh. The sandwich is one of the best I have had. I will definitely be back.

Family-owned sandwich shop - a true hidden gem in San Gabriel! I haven't been able to come by as often since they're no longer open on the weekend. Just M-F 10am-4pm now. Luckily got to take a day off for some personal errands and got to enjoy their sandwich with my Fiancé . Great atmosphere - the owner is always joyful and happy to greet you and take your order. Sandwiches are always on-point and delicious If you love sandwiches - you can't skip out on this super underrated sandwich spot!!

First stop on our Friday Sammy tour! Located on Mission in the Historic San Gabriel Mission District, you would almost not know Pulciano's existed. I had seen it once or twice while walking by but this is the first time I've walked inside. Only regret is not discovering it sooner. Game changer for Italian sandwich options in the area! Aside from the warm welcome and family vibes as soon as you walk in, the price to value is fantastic. All sandwiches are served on huge warm, toasty bread that is soft and fluffy on the inside. You can tell the thinly sliced deli meats are fresh and high quality. Friendly service: check Quality ingredients: check Bang for the buck: check Can't wait to put Pulciano's on rotation.

On a Monday morning in mid October, I finally came here for lunch. Once I walked in. I was nicely greeted by the owner and we chatted briefly and I bbq ordered 2 California mafia sandwiches regular size 11.95. The ambiance is a comfortable place to eat. There are tables, and tv with stand of potato chips, sodas. and ice cream bars. They also sell croissant sandwiches too. Once I took a bite, the bread tastes so good with avocado and cheese and deli meats. Next time, I will try other sandwiches. The prices are very reasonable compared to other sandwiches places. I highly recommend this local gem. Tips: Phone orders, order on chow now and accepts credit cards

Italian Submarine Cold Sandwich

Pulciano is the go-to spot after coming here for a couple of years. In my recent visit, I picked up an order that I got through a food app. Upon arrival, the order was ready and the pickup was straightforward. I arrived on a weekday around 12 pm, so it was still busy at the time. Regardless there is still parking available on the street. I ordered (1) Italian Submarine Sandwich and (2) California Mafia Sandwiches. Personally the Italian Sub tasted great and had the perfect ratio of ingredients. I couldn't speak on the California Mafia this time around, but I'd recommend it based on my past experiences too!

A great warm family Italian deli with yummy good treats when you're feeling hungry for some deliciousnesses of hot or cold sandwiches and salads that'll fill you to the brim!

A hidden gem tucked away by the San Gabriel Mission. I was working in the office on Thursday and the team decided to grab lunch together. We were short on time so we couldn't take a full lunch hour which means a sandwich or pizza place would be the only place we can go to. After a quick Yelp search, we found Pulciano's Deli and it fit the bill. The shop serves Italian sandwiches, was just 10 minutes since we work in San Marino, and the reviews touted their service and efficiency. Located on Mission Drive, Pulciano is right across the street from the San Gabriel Valley Music Theatre and the famous Constitution Fountain. Parking can be found right in front on Mission St but could get scarce during busy hours. If you are looking for but can't find any on the street, you may want to check out the parking lot right by the theatre. Something important to note is that Pulciano is only open weekdays from 10am to 4pm. Pulciano's tag line is "Home of the Mafia Special - The sandwich you can't refuse" and everything is themed to the show Godfather. House specials include the Mafia Special, the California Mafia which is the Mafia Special with avocado, and Italian Sub. They have other favorites like turkey breast, vegetarian, egg salad, and prosciutto. For those who want something warm, they have roast beef, BBQ, Beef, Italian, Pastrami, and a variety of other hot subs. Walking up I was greeted by Michael and since this is my first time here, I asked him for his recommendation, and he replied that I had to try the Mafia Special. I mean it is what they are known for, so I tried it out. From placing to order it took 3 minutes to get to me. I barely had time to find a table. Talk about quick service. As I went to pick up the sandwich, Micheal gave me some pickled peppers and said I would enjoy it if I liked spice. The sandwich came packed with a variety of cold cuts which included ham, salami, and provolone in a warm toasted bun. The sub also included tomatoes, lettuce, and spices which balanced out the heavy meats and the peppers gave it a nice crunch along with some subtle heat when biting into it. In short, the sandwich was delicious, and the filling was generous. Overall, this was a great experience and truly a hidden gem. The ambience was homey with subtle references to the popular show all tucked away in an area that you would not expect to find a great sandwich. I plan on take my family here one day since they are all fans of Italian cuisine, but I just have to remember that they are closed on the weekends. For my Pokémon Go players, you are close to the Pokémon Gym located at the mission, so feel free to battle or raid with your friends while you enjoy your sandwich.

California Mafia, large, hearty sandwich. Well built. Perfect for sharing. 5 Meatball sandwich. Regular, Huge meatballs ....easy to hold without bring drippy...but need a wide bite in order to eat...impressive but for me the meatballs, salty...tomato sauce on the bitter... side...evrn the reg is large enough to share. 3 Got a Kona Mocha blended coffee. Very sweet. Needed more coffee in it...maybe get the coffee latte..my blended coffee comes with whipped cream, but I declined. 3

I came in after working in the area. Mr. Pulciano welcomed me as we started talking about our Italian heritage. The place was clean, well-stocked and had a little bit of everything. As for the food, I went with a large BLT, which was absolutely delicious. He recommended a couple other sandwiches that I try for next time.

Regular sized. I chose my meat, cheese and toppings.

Amazing sandwiches and amazing service. Usually, one or the other keeps me going to a place. On this rare occasion, it's both!

My usual order is either the dac biet (special cold cuts) or the beef banh mi. Both are solid. I always ask for the vegetables on the side if I'm not eating it right away so the bread doesn't get soggy. Speaking of the bread, that's one of the reasons I keep coming back. It's light, airy, and not overly dense, which is exactly what I want in a good banh mi. Overall, it's a reliable neighborhood spot that I've been coming back to for years whenever I need a quick banh mi fix.

This time my husband got the Granada which was recommended to us by Henry and I got my usual Legendary. All in all this is the experience we had been wanting to have and I'm so glad we went back. Thank you to Henry, again, for going out of his way to make us feel welcomed and well attended. However, I went for a second time yesterday and was deeply disappointed. The owner wasn't there and instead a younger girl took my order and prepared the food. Everything seemed well and fine until I got home, opened my patty melt and found not 1 but 2 long hairs in my sandwich! They were clearly her hairs since she was the only one who handled my food. I went back and returned everything. I didn't see a hair in my other sandwich but couldn't even eat it without thinking what could be in each bite. The same girl was there when I returned and a young guy. I spoke with the guy and he gave me a refund right away and apologized. The girl who had made my food was maybe 5 feet away and couldn't even turn around to look at me or apologize. Very disappointing since the owner seemed like a nice guy who probably works extremely hard to build and maintain his business, only to have it ruined by some employee who couldn't even care enough to take 5 sec to put on a hair net. Shame on her.

Unfortunately, the meatball sandwich just didn't live up to my expectations. Maybe it was an off day, but the meatballs and sauce were pretty underwhelming, and there was barely any cheese--it honestly felt like a few strands accidentally landed on the sandwich rather than being intentionally added. Considering the price, I expected a lot more. I'm sure there may be other items on the menu that people love, but I went specifically for the meatball sandwich, and it missed the mark for me. I don't see myself coming back, which is disappointing because I really wanted to like this place.
