    Old-school skate cleaner, cool!
    Mike P.

Jeez, why all the hate for The Golden Skate? Fun?: Hell yes this place is fun! The DJ played great music and took requests. The skating rink itself was well maintained. The rental skates themselves (either blades or quads) were also well maintained. Clean?: I wouldn't eat off the floor of the shitter, but the place is pretty clean all things considered. I will say that although I'm not someone who's hung up on "germs," a few more dispensers of hand sanitizer might have been nice. Expensive?: Ok, yeah, TGS is kind of expensive. But this is the Bay Area, right? Damn right it is. A gallon of gas down the street is 5 bucks and pho for four was about 120. Atmosphere?: It is quaint and wonderfully dated. The sight and feel of this place take you back to a simpler time in your life, and that's cool with me. Yo Haters!! The Golden Skate, contrary to your predictions, remains open. Here's to another 50 years! 4 (ahhhh, make that 5)...5 stars!

The only rink I've been to that feels like a Wild West adventure! I really thought the "gold mine" theme was super fun and the staff was very friendly and helpful when checking in and purchasing your ticket! My only drawback is that it is a little expensive just for a one time entry for an adult night. We paid $18/pp which is on the higher end of any rinks I've been to. It's obviously not a deal breaker, because the adult nights are wonderful and so many people come out to skate together and collaborate. I had a great time just observing the different friend groups and watching what everyone felt strong in with their skating technique! Also, this is the only rink I've been to where they keep the lights brighter for the session. No complaints here as it makes it safer to navigate the rink floor and also to learn from other skaters. But, if you're looking for a "vibey" party light skate... perhaps come a different time? There's lots of talent at this rink and I would definitely come back again for the adult night. Thanks, Golden Skate!

My family and I went skating last night! We had a ball! Even my 11 month old baby enjoyed watching the skaters. They play great music and the vibes are unmatched; people of all ages are enjoying themselves, there's lots of parking and skates. Sessions last 2 hours (which is more than enough time), to practice perfecting your skills, or bust your butt! It's $25 if you need admission and skates or $18 if you just need admission and have your own skates! Such a classic establishment is so nostalgic, its a rarity and a gem that should be treasured and appreciated, so get out there and skate!

Brought my kid here for a "birthday" I put it in quotes because my kid wanted to come skate with her friends for her birthday. They brought gifts and we sat at a table. It was really a nice experience. It's open skate for a couple hours and then they close it down to clean and open it again for another couple hours. My kid had tons of fun. Skating laughing with her friends. I give this place 4 stars because they didn't have food, or coffee. They had pretzels, sodas, and water, but nothing filling for the kids. I would've liked to have been able to feed them there while they skated, but I understand it's an older place. Husband was in dire need of coffee tho. Overall it was a nice place great atmosphere, and staff were super nice.

So I had to come back and UPDATE my visit because I want warn "old dogs trying old tricks"...lol. Her turn for the date night and I got excited because my childhood came back to my mind. Burning shins, a sore butt and a (later) confirmed fractured wrist. I LOVED IT but "Tricks are for kids". I was definitely the silly rabbit.

    Some game...

Here is a not so smart thing they do. They stop free skate to play some unnecessary game. Sorry this is big waste of my $25 that I just want to skate. It's definitely a time portal. I'm back in the late 80's. I can tell by the smell. LoL If it wasn't for the game, y'all would get a higher rating. Oh and the No hat thing is a safety issue. If it drops in the rink and then it becomes a obstacle for someone to run over and fall.

I have mixed feelings about this place, but I want people to know what they are getting into. The skates are trash! They are verynikd and wobbly. It was hard to have an enjoyable time since my feet hurt so much. My husband and I tried to buy new skates from the front desk. I was told that they could not sell skates because their manager was gone for the day. Aside from that, it was fun. Staff was friendly. I know that this business has struggled to remain open. I just wish that we would have been able to purchase skates so that we could have spent more time skating. We cut our time short because I he skates were in such bad condition.

Terrible, you have to pay even if you are not skating. Impossible with little kids. Will not be coming back.

We took my little nephew here and had a blast! It brought back happy memories of when I used to go to the roller rink as a kid.

Ask the Community - The Golden Skate

Are there adult only sessions and or theme nights?

Do you have to show proof of vaccine?

I went last night and they didn't ask.

Does every time has disco lights or sometimes it's boring white lights?

They usually turn on the disco lights each session. Maybe for a few songs here and there.

Does anyone know how strict dress code is? I'm assuming since it a place where a lot of teenagers go they have seen it all, however I have seen an image saying you can't even wear tank tops?

No tank tops for men, no tube tops for women, no revealing clothing, no sagging pants, no short shirts or hot pants. Hats are not allowed in the building.

Does anyone know the name of the manager/owner?

    Hassan sharifi

So is there racial issues going to this skating rink? All I want to do is skate drama free but I don't want to be racially profiled. Please anyone let me know before I do this long drive.…

Our experience was a good one. No issues. Just the security guard was on us for no hats and no outside food.

There was no charge to skate, though the skating pass price of $12 posted online is not bad, especially without the $3 skate rental cost (since I have my own rollerblades). This place is quite simple. A small shoe cubbies storage unit against the wall, a few seats and tables outside the rink, a restroom in the back, socks and snacks (water, chips, gatorade) sold behind the counter, and friendly staff making everyone feel welcome. The rink had a smooth and sturdy surface, creating an ideal skating experience. It was surrounded by plexiglass, able to withstand the barrage of kids crashing into the walls. Tiny disco balls hung from the ceiling, along with colorful decorative string lights. Mainly hip hop and rnb music played through the speakers, a song list including Isn't She Lovely by Stevie Wonder, I Want To Be Your Man by Zapp, and Don't Stop Til You Get Enough by the king of pop. The skating rink was small but never felt crowded. There was plenty of space to glide freely, and it was easy to dodge the kids. Even the skate aids didn't take up a lot of space or get in the way. It was a pleasant experience, a carefree atmosphere with everyone just having a good time. Skate Escape was a great option for a rainy day activity to enjoy while in the area.

The staff is very very friendly and the space is huge! Very fun and unique place to throw a kids birthday party, which we did! It was affordable to rent the room and they are lenient on the type of food you could bring in etc. place was high energy and the music selection is the bomb! We will be throwing many more parties in the future!

The ice is pretty sturdy, and the railing around the side is safe for all the beginner skaters out there (like myself) who spend the first ten minutes stubbornly clinging to the edge from fear. There's also a lot of bucket towers provided that beginner skaters can use to lean on while they skate. I liked that there were two medium-sized rinks, so you could easily transfer from one to the other if the rink you're on had too many people zooming around. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, and overall it was a great experience! (Skate rentals are $5 and entry is $10)
