There are 4 of us which have been going to Copper Valley for 4 years and it has always been great. Good condos and great golf. However this year it was horrible. We left at 630 for a 2 hour drive so we could have breakfast at Copper Valley restaurant. They don't serve breakfast on Thursdays. We will take the blame for that as we assumed a golf resort would serve breakfast. Then we played at 11 really hot and windy behind a group that took 5 hours but the worst part was on a hole that was a dog leg I had a blind shot to the green. We waited all day until the group was way off the green to hit. I pulled my 8 iron left of the green and landed about 10 yards from the group in their cart. The member got out of his cart picked my ball up and threw it in the weeds. Never seen that before. We finished and had a beer and went to out 2 bedroom condo. We had 2. Our friends condo had no air conditioning and were miserable all night and decided not to play the 2nd day. So our twosome went over to get a quick breakfast before our tee time at 8. No luck breakfast not served until 8. All in all we decided that $500 would be better spent elsewhere. By the way we had dinner and it was average but expensive. My recommendation is pass on Copper Valley and go somewhere else. read more

Bunkers are shocking. Great course but in much worse condition than previous years. We have been coming here for quite a while and the set up is great. Unfortunately, the bunkers (if they can even be called that) are nothing short of atrocious. They are made up of rocks, weeds, dirt and old bunker liner. This is for the restaurant which is super classy with nice views and great ambience for a golf club cafe. Coming back next month to play here . From what is see the landscape is spotty with burnt grass and overwatered grass both . High end place in a gated community with upscale casitas and big homes too. read more

Booked a tee time for me and two buddies as none of us had ever played this course before. I'm a hacker who has never broke 100 and they play in the 80's/90's, so we knew this would be a challenging course. Upon entering, we were impressed by the lobby and how nice everything looked. A friendly lady working the front desk (I'm assuming for the lodging) greeted us and pointed us towards the pro shop. I walked into the pro shop and checked in without any issues. The man was very nice and gave us a couple of keys for our carts and pointed us in the direction of the practice range and also told us where hole #1 was located when it was our turn to tee off. The golf carts were very nice. It had GPS and Bluetooth so you could play music and also know how far from the hole you were when taking your shot. It also had a ball washer (teehee) and a cooler attached to the cart so you could keep beverages cool as you golfed. The course itself was gorgeous. Even though the greens were aerated earlier in the week, the greens were still in good shape and we didn't run into any funky bounces when putting. The course itself is very unforgiving if you deviate from the fairway, so plan on taking a lot of balls with you. The pace of play was pretty solid. We slowed down on the back 9 a bit as we ran into a group that took their sweet time, but we were just BSing and listening to music until they cleared out of the way. It wasn't too bad. Golf wise, it was one of the nicer courses I've played. I would highly recommend checking it out. After our round, we dined at the restaurant and I'd give that a solid 4/5 stars. The staff were all super nice every time we interacted with anyone at the resort. Overall, this place really left a good impression for me. I'd absolutely love to return some day when the greens are back to normal just to enjoy the course in it's full beauty. read more

I've been playing this course occasionally since it opened in 1996 - but not for the past 10 years. It has been a favorite and I was interested to see how it has held up. It is still absolutely gorgeous and a good test of golf. Previously posted comments still hold true - a couple of fairways are overwatered - especially no. 10, where the tee shot is steeply downhill. My ball landed and practically plugged - zero roll. And the bunkers are lacking sand, with the flashing showing in numerous bunkers. That's a real shame, because otherwise the course is in great shape. And again, it's so beautiful. It's a must-play if you're in the area. But I don't know why the members put up with those bunkers. read more

An hours drive through mountain terrain to get to this course. It's a resort styled course with good amenities in the clubhouse. Terrific grass driving range and the putting greens are well maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The course itself is a respectable track. The holes are well maintained with terrific fairways and tee boxes but the greens are a little slow. Good balance of water and sand hazards although the sand traps are not being maintained due to COVID-19. It's not a Hard course, and low scores can be had here, but it's still a fun course that has above average course conditions. read more

We stopped here for breakfast while visiting Copperopolis and were so glad we did! To start, this is just a beautiful facility. The setting is lovely and the restaurant looks out over the golf course. We greeted promptly and shown to a very nice window table. Our server was lovely, very friendly and super efficient. I had literally one of the best breakfasts that I have ever had. Everything was super flavorful and cooked perfectly. Mine was the basic 2 egg breakfast with bacon and the country potatoes while my husband had the ricotta pancakes. Don't sleep on the country potatoes, these were the star of the show. This is a great stop for any meal. You don't need to be a member to eat at the restaurant which is wonderful. Highly recommend! read more

We ordered the crab cake and scallops for apps; both tasted delicious but the scallops were cold. My brother and I decided to try the Golf Course at Cooperopolis as we heard it was good. It wasn't good, it was great! We played there yesterday and Saturday. Easy check in Friday after our round. The course has great greens and Tee Boxes. The views of the Hills is amazing. The fairways, as folks say in 2022 was over watered, so much that many shots I could not get bounce of a firm fairway so the uphill par 4's were a challenge. Why overwater them? This is why I could not give a 5 Star Review. The bunkers are hard and no fluffy sand, but most are playable. Golfers, this is a great course to challenge your game! The restaurant has a fantastic cook as I had the Sword Fish with excellent Calamare and pop corn shrimp. I also had their french toast and egg whites with toast. Super fresh foods and delicious. The best part was the staff. Kevin the bartender Friday night was good. (Except Kevin don't toss a broken glass into a trash can with customers sitting at the bar a foot away; it's dangerous as glass shards could have popped into somebody's eyes! Debbie served us breakfast Saturday AM and was professional. Crystal our waitress Friday night and was fast, competent and really hustled to see we had a nice time. Her down to earth local yet classy demeanor was amazing, and she was patient while we took a while to order. Thank you to the staff and management. We stayed on this Golf Resort , just to experiment / Valentine wknd getaway !! I like to start with the positive ,Beautiful resort ,with excellent calming views of nature and bird sounds. Customer service at check in was a 10 !!! The Restaurant Vine 18 located in the resort was just beautiful , staff was very pleasant , attentive with guest that I could notice , and same with us . The food was delicious finely cooked along with taste ! Waitresses were just delighted the way we were treated , one of them called us " My loves" , I did not mind , since it was Valentines wknd celebration . We stayed overnight in the Bungalows it had a fireplace, facing the Gorgeous Golf areas . Up to 2 bedrooms . Over all the experience was excellent and I would love to go back again with my love ones one day !! Thankful and Thank you !! read more

I put together a small golf tournament with friends and family 24 players. 1) a guy came out with no club golf shirt or name that I could identify him and told us not to hit range balls. 2) there was no one to lead us out to the holes they wanted us to start on. 3) some of our groups were told to hurry up, even though there was nobody behind them. 4) The course is in the worse shape I've seen, the sand traps are terrible. It's not worth the money you pay. When it was Saddle Creek it was one of the best course around well worth the money. Go play another course, save your money. read more

Pros: Golf course was beautiful, grounds were kept up nicely Cons: Paid over $500 for a 2nite stay in a "private room" in one of the bungalows for my sister's wedding there. The room was disgusting. Hadn't been dusted or cleaned for cob webs in months. Literally thick webs connecting from light bulb to light bulb in the vanity and in the corners of the room. When I entered the room it also appeared that someone maybe was in it recently as the bed looked to be laid/sat on, the tv was on and the light in the bathroom was too. Strange. My last complaint was, when reserving the unit I was told it would be apart of the wedding block of units that were.reserved for the wedding party. But my unit was at the very opposite end of the road. I had recently had ankle surgery so this was a problem since I needed to be with/near the wedding party. I had asked for a closer unit, but was told none were available, I then asked to rent a golf cart as there were near 50 them parked next to my unit in a lot. I was told No hecause they anticipated heavy guest traffic that day so they would probably need them for the folks playing golf. . All in all the service was below average, the room was legitimately gross and full of spider webs, I completed their little survey and expressed my displeasure with my stay, but they haven't attempted to rectify it read more

Great track but supper bummed that the club is letting this course go to hell. Sand traps are a complete disaster, over water sink holes throughout complete mess. Crabgrass everywhere, greens have fungus and over all very under maintained. Played this course over the years but haven't played for a couple of years. This review is for the Golf Course, the Restaurant, and the Bungalows, The Pro shop. First off all, the Pro Shop manager/director that helped us out this weekend is amazing! He went beyond with us. Helped me out in picking a golf club in the pro shop, has been very helpful, and even when I went out to the driving range (not knowing it was already closed) he even had someone get more balls for us so we're able to practice! Now this is what excellent customer service is! Second is for the restaurant. Vine 18. Now this is our first time in this resort so we had no idea about the hours, and of course we came when they were about to close, the manager in the restaurant gave us the utmost accommodations! Even in the early morning the following day! My husband went while they were still closed and he still accommodated us! Excellent excellent service! Now the Golf course, it is in very good condition. Pace of play is awesome, a little challenging but we enjoyed every single minute. Even the Marshall has been very friendly and helpful to go out of his way to come back for us in the range when it's our turn on the 1st tee, imagine that. Amazing experience here. Now the bungalows, it is very nice and very clean! The best smelling linens I have ever encountered! I would really love to know what they use!!!! My only concern in the bungalow is there is no landline and the bungalow we checked in at had one room that was locked the whole time, I got a little paranoid and wasn't able to sleep last night because of it but I called the desk and there was no answer. But it's really no biggie, Our stay here was amazing! Thank you to all the managers/employees that made my husband's birthday excellent even though no one knew it was his birthday! Now that is EXCELLENT SERVICE! read more

The experience was so bad that I felt I had to leave a review so others would avoid a similar experience. I only put 5 stars so they wouldnt try to delete it. It is very remote, plan to dedicate a day or two. Maybe they cater to the people that stay in the bungalows. I did not. The reception from everyone I passed on my way to the pro shop was cold. I was dressed in slacks and a collared shirt with a hat and I still felt like they were all looking me up and down. The restaurant manager was too proud to tell me I should have used the side door to access the pro shop. The pro shop was empty other than the guy behind the counter. He didn't look up from the register. Asked me my name, handed me a key to the cart and sent me to find the cart then the starter. I had pre-paid. The cart was filthy. There was a muddy shoeprint in the middle of the seat. At the first tee I asked the only guy around if he was the starter, he said no he was waiting for his group but pointed at the 1st tee and said go ahead. I was playing alone from the blue tees and he was waiting on three friends to play as a foursome. So I teed off. Got in my cart and started driving to my ball. All of a sudden some guy in a cart comes flying out of nowhere yelling. Hey you, stop right there! So I did. He started yelling at me that I had to check in with him first and now I have to wait. He had a threesome coming behind this foursome and I need to play with them. The guy I had originally talked to and his three friends witnessed all of this and told the starter I should go ahead and he refused to allow it. I followed the starters instructions to turn around from where I was, near the red tee boxes, to drive behind the back tees to allow the foursome to play through. They played their shots from the white tees. The last time I ever saw that group was as they were leaving that first tee telling the starter a few curse words for what he did to me. I waited 10 minutes for "my" group to show. They were nice people and none of this had anything to do with them but 2 of 3 of them were just learning the game. I had to explain to them that my tee shot had already been sitting in the fairway for the last 20 minutes so I didn't need to tee off the first tee with them. I spent the first hole explaining to them what happened. It wasn't until we reached the first green that we all realized they had aerated the greens the day before. They could have mentioned that at the clubhouse or at the first tee. It couldn't have changed my mind from playing as I had already booked online and there isnt another course within an hour. But aeration happens so I moved on. I'm no pro, but I'm consistent to my 13 handicap, I watched as my group took a several 10s and 12s. I played blues with the 1 of the 3 that had played more than a handful of times. The other guy played whites and the woman with the first guy played the reds. So we had three stops at every tee. It's hard to enjoy the round when you are stopping every 50 yards for someone in the group to hit. As fate and etiquette would demand, we allowed a single player to play through our group on the 6th hole, and another one on the 12th hole, and ended our five and a half hour round with a third different solo player waiting on us in each of the last three fairways. There was no need to group me with a threesome then allow every other person on the course play by themselves. We never ran into any marshalls, cart attendants, or greenskeepers. I tried so hard to make the best of it but the pace got the better of me. The 42/51 split on my round wasn't even frustrating. The round was so long I lost care in the result. I spent more time on my phone than golfing. This is just one of those places that I will always remind myself, never again. Fool me once shame on you... read more

A sad day. They took saddle creek away and let the course turn to garbage. 1. Bunkers not raked and have a bunch of holes, leaves, animal tracks, peeling black turf, and very little sand in them. 2. Overwatered to the point of insanity. Anywhere near the green is mush with thick uncut grass. 3. Maintenance people think it's appropriate to drive while you are hitting. Not a big deal but very municipal $20 course like. 4. Several tee boxes have dirt with no grass. Fairways have huge dry areas. Yet walk 20 feet and you are in a puddle ‍ 5. The smell of sewage on holes 10, 11, and 18 is unbearable. 6. The range was completely depleted of balls at 12 o'clock. 7. One of the starters was not welcoming at all and just demanding info. Terrible service. 8. No cart drinks and food coming around. 9. The saving grace was the bar after but sorry to say it, I don't see this place staying up and going to keep the bar going. 10. They used to have a phone where you could call for food at the turn. The phone is still there but on the wrong 9 and it's broken. They used to fill the cart mini ice chests with ice and water bottles labeled saddle creek. I wouldn't return to this place even if they paid me $100. Instead they are charging over $100!!!! Haha Just shut down already and stop the madness!! read more

The country club dining was 'eh'. We waited about 10 minutes to get a table outside. There was only 2 other parties at the establishment!!! After we got our table... the waitress came to us about another 10 minutes later. She took our drink orders and appetizer orders..and our main meal order... She looked annoyed we were there. She just had this annoyed look on her face the WHOLE time. Like if we were wasting her time. She came another 10 minutes later with our water. We were starving. Everyone ordered cheeseburgers and ordered the Chicken jerusaleum (I know I didn't spell it right)... Finally our actual drink orders arrived. Our calamari appetizer arrived about 15 minutes later. 30 seconds after our appetizer our main meals arrived. Calamari was delicious. Friends hamburgers were delicious looking, but messy. and HUGE. My chicken was delicious..but the wild rice was a little undercooked, chewy and slightly salty..it almost tasted like it came out of a rice a roni box!! overall good food. But service was dismal. For us being almost the only people there they sure took a long time!!! We ordered dessert next and coffee. AFter the waitress finally came... (that was getting annoying!) Coffee took forever! But it was good. :-) Dessert took forever. I about had my lull and didn't really want any more dessert. :-( Overall our simple meal turned to be about a 3 hour ordeal!!???? It started getting dark in our outdoor table...but they never turned on the lights.....we ate our dessert in the dark...which I thought was no nice. We could have easily gone to In and Out and had better service... I wonder if this waitress has heard of 'service with a smile'.... she just looked so pissed out the whole time....I secretly think she is a drug addict and was just running low on her 'energy juice'. As a life-long golfer who is lucky to get in 12 or so rounds a year (young kids are murder on your short game), I try and make it a point to play out at Saddle Creek at least once every other year or so... and every time I play there, I'm reminded why I have such fond memories of this course. First of all, I've ususally played on a Friday on my way up to the Sierra's and one thing is always consistent -- it's like playing on a private course! The staff there treat you like royalty, but in a way that is totally MELLOW and laid back. Next, the course itself is just wonderful. It's hard, but FAIR. There are like 5 sets of tees, so you can find the right challenge based on your ability. The setting is in the rolling foothills of the gold country, and you can't ever see another hole from the hole you are playing. They did a great job of integrating the course into the landscape, so it feels like you are out in nature for most of the round. There are some McMansions on some of the holes, but it's not (yet) over developed. Warning: it can get HOT out there during the summer months at mid-day, but this is the sort of course that provides iced towels at the turn (as I said, it's like a private course). All and all, I always walk away from a round at Saddle Creek thinking to myself that I need to come back more often. Keep it up, guys! read more

We spent three very pleasant nights in the bungalows at the resort. The suite was well equipped so that we could comfortably make our own breakfast before golf. For our July visit, the golf shop organized 8:00 AM shotgun starts so that we could all be off before the temps got too high. The staff was very courteous, friendly and helpful. To help us out of an late night issue of our own making at 9PM, the chef and the bungalow manager were most helpful in resolving it. It was disappointing that the onsite restaurant had limited hours during the summer but that caused us to find a great Sonoran Mexican restaurant just a few miles away. Finally, the golf course is challenging but fun even for us high handicappers. We would gladly return to the Golf Club at Copper Valley to repeat a very nice vacation. read more

My review is for the awesome golf course. You can tell they work hard to keep it nice. Front and back pretty different, back is extremely challenging. Bad golfers will not like the course. One measure of a good course is no holes are the same. We stayed here for two nights with two rounds of golf and a free breakfast and it was like $360 per person. Stayed in a condo right on the course, so it worked out for three of us per person at like $100 per night and $80 per round. Not bad. The front has a few flat holes and other than hole 1 nothing very easy. Toughest by far on front is severely uphill par 4 hole 6, like 380 yards but plays like 500 yards. You would have to be a monster to reach in two. Many of the greens, like 6, have a false front, requiring perfect chips or pitches to get a good score. Signature hole on front is downhill par 5 number 8 with water in front of the green. Darn tough to get on in 2 but you have to choose wisely for second shot. The back plays tougher with many uphill holes. The beast is the par 5 uphill 13th, plays like 600 yards. The course has varied and interesting par 3s, even from the white tees. Lots of hills. My one and only gripe, and not the fault of the course, was group behind us playing from the up tees and being on our ass for like 6 holes at the end. How about STFU when you are almost on top of other players? The greens, sand, tee boxes, etc all in great shape. Nice service at the restaurant. All around good experience. read more

The grounds are amazing the restaurant breakfast was great. We went for a wedding and the rehearsal dinner my food had a hair in it, all the staff was apologetic and nice about the issue. The wedding night my wife ordered a coffee the cup showed up with lipstick on the rim and my only suggestion is how important it is to pay attention to detail. I had a couple issues but everything else was great. Rick the manager was great and helpful I can't thank him enough. I'm only leaving 3 stars because of the issues but this could happen anywhere but still made a great experience average. read more

This course is gorgeous. The " members" there think they own this PUBLIC course. First time we played there today and new to golf. We were yelled at and admonished for not knowing course rules. Four very loud, obnoxiously rude " members" yelled and pointed at us. They took pictures of our cart that was 40 yards or so from tee and told us we were not supposed to be there. We did not know. We were told by a green monitor that we could not be on rough either? All they had to do was explain, not yell and be ridiculous. The guy in the clubhouse was apologetic but seemed like he really didn't care. Won't be back and I'll tell everyone I know. read more

READ ALL: First of all, I want to know who these people are that rated this course above 2 stars in the last 6 months. This course used to be one of the top courses in Northern California for many years. This past year it has taken a massive change for the worse. NONE of the Bunkers are maintained. Many lack enough sand and have the felt exposed in multiple spots. The fairways are HORRIBLE. Ridiculously overwatered. I had to clean mud off my ball on almost every hole. We even lost two balls in fairways because they plugged deep. Each fairway has massive amounts of mud in various locations. Other portions of the fairways are dry and dead. There are invasive species of grass now on every fairway. Absolutely horrendous shape. The tee boxes are not maintained either. Restrooms do not have running water in the sinks. They leave you a bottle of hand sanitizer instead! LOL ! Never been to a course in such bad shape. There is no way there is a paid Superintendent on staff. If so, they need to fire him immediately. No Marshall on the weekends, No Cart girl either. DO NOT PAY $115 to play this course. You will feel ripped off. It's in worse shape than many local $50 muni's. I'm shocked that the local community puts up with this. I will not be back. read more

Played a twilight round this evening at 530pm at the course; beautiful golf course - BUT there were no signs on which hole was which, yardage or directions (I heard they've recently switched the front and back nine, so I can understand if it's a work in progress). The real issue was the sprinklers. Outside of the first hole that the club shut off to let us play through, we got hit with the sprinklers on nearly every hole! Even had to time it right on some of the tee boxes so we wouldn't get hit. Our cart and clubs got soaked multiple times (middle of the fairway)! Unfortunate that our time and money were wasted at such a beautiful golf course. read more

Went here for a corporate retreat, and in spite of occupying almost their whole "resort" on a week night (when I am sure they are usually light on guests) they treated us as if we were an inconvenience! To sum it up... Location - Middle of NOWHERE Service - RUDE Food - Sickening (ordered duck and was served chicken, scallops tasted fishy) Amenities - Lacking (one restaurant/bar which closes at 8pm SHARP) Rooms - Overpriced Golf Course - Appeared ok, but I didn't golf, so I'll refrain from comment Conclusion... Went here for a Saturday night dinner with girlfriends. We didn't make reservations as we were told it wasn't a busy weekend. We got to the place, it was tiny, 10 dining tables total, 1 bar tender, 2 waiters. They had a wedding that night too so our night wasn't looking promising. Our table wasn't ready so we waited by the tables close to the bar. Waited 20 mins. for our waitress to get our drinks only to find out our table is being prepped...so we wait yet another 10 mins. to sit. Ordered drinks and food; appetizers were great, get the Shrimp, Calamari, and Ahi Tartare. Main course...Halibut was overcooked but huge portions, the wild rice that came with it seemed undercooked (it was crunchy & chewy), 13 oz. Steak was blah, but the Prime Rib was great tasting...but cold! Entrees were not worth the $$ for the taste, we expected better for this to be in a country club. Atmosphere was nice, entertainment by a pianist is always soothing but if they knew they had a wedding, they should have had more wait staff and at least 2 bar tenders. Our night wasn't ruined, my friends' company was the biggest factor to a great dinner out. read more

Outstanding course at an incredible value. Everything from the friendly staff and from the 1st Tee to the 18th green was immacculent. Played 36 holes here in 1 day. A challenging rolling course. Given the 108 degree weather in the morning nothing short of an awesome course could have drug us out there for another 5 hours of heat that night unless it was as it good as it was. This Review for Resturant Vine 18 Last Saturday Aug 21. Made a reservation day before for Prime Rib dinner. Let them know I was a Agent showing homes in area and wanted to bring clients. My clients we're excited to have the prime rib, hearing that food was delicious there. I have eaten there before and had great experiences before. After long day showing homes were all excited to enjoy a great meal. Very pleasant hostess seated us and gave us the menus. No prime rib....so three of us ordered the Rib eye steaks. We figured, can't go wrong with a rib eye cut. When receiving the meals the steaks looked fine, but once we started eating them they were the worst steaks we ever had. Right away we were asking for salt, pepper and A-1 sauce to help with the taste. The steaks were tough and had no taste at all, soooooo disappointing. We all tried to make the best of it. Even let 2 waitresses know and they just apologized. The Final straw was when I gave them may credit card to pay, she came back stating she ran my card 3 times it was declined. I gave her 2 other cards and she said they all declining. My clients looking at me said they will pay for dinner. I said no.....I am already ashamed and embarrassed because I brought them here. The waitress then comes back and apologized stating there whole network is down. The damage is already done....the worst meal ever, then to-be embarrassed stating my credit cards are declining. Third times a charm...not this time..our first visit was not impressive at all food was just OK. Second time we invited good friends, service was fine with lots of apologies because at 6:00 they were out of a lot of dishes.Third time both my husband and myself ordered the 8 oz prime rib, whenit arrived the meat had a side of fat at least 4 oz and was carved so this we could have made carne asada and burnt crispy, potatoes were barely warm. The only thing I can say is that the bread was delicious. Needless to say we won't be going back, to bad beautiful place. read more

Saddlecreek is a hidden GEM in the foothills. Not even an hour and a half from 580/680 off hwy 4. The Golf is consistently rated in the top 5 courses in CA. The gated country club community, parts open to public use, is very very well maintained and set in a beautiful area. The food at the country club is ever changing and consistently improving. The immenities offered to guests and members are first class. The bungalows are very nice. Finally there are so many things to do around the local area, look and you will find. Great for a day or long stay! read more
