It was more like a house party. You could smell the restrooms throughout the bar :/ The 2 bartenders and cook had to dance to each song that came on. The cook would step out from the kitchen and go behind the bar to get his 5 seconds of dance time in. They'd skip music they didn't like. The bartender with glasses was hugging and kissing on girls while standing at the register. Not to mention enjoying cocktails. The place was a mess and there was too much staff. The first thing I thought was... who runs this place, because I'd be pissed at wasting payroll on such employees. Not sure why their juice/soda dispenser is over the ice, and I know it's a health violation to have the dispenser cord inside the ice (the wine too). Cheap drinks and good music with great friends make for a great bar for a Saturday night! This bar has a few arcade games in the front, skateboards hung around the walls for decoration and a few pool tables for your enjoyment. The well drinks were about $6 a piece, which is reasonable for a night out on the town. I really liked this bar, because of the people the chill and relaxed environment of the place. There were no sense of pretentiousness and no frills tied to this bar. Everyone was literally just out to have a good Saturday night. The great bonus was the DJ they had for the evening. Although they didn't have a huge place for dancing, it was enough for what I wanted. Not too many people were on the dance floor anyway, so we had our chance to get our boogie on without any problems of bumping shoulders with random people. The playlist was very eclectic, from classic rock songs to indie-pop, and Top 40. read more

After walking by The Good Bar during the day, I decide to check out their menu to find a Vegan section. So, I decide to actually eat there for dinner one night. Tonight (10/22) is that night. There are signs in the front asking to wait for seating. So, I stand in front of The Good Bar, wearing my mask, waiting for an employee to help me. A patron sitting in the front stands from sitting with friends, guides me inside to an employee at the bar, and I sit at the bar ready to order from the Vegan selection. It's a bar so there's a chance to meet people though I don't expect to meet anyone. I'm mainly there for the food though I'm glad about the conversations and meetings. The atmosphere is chill: it's like a popular midnight restaurant. There are a lot of TVs too. The Vegan Chick'n Sandwich (the exact name might be different) is really good. The toppings seem fresh and the sandwich overall is really juicy (the bread soft and moist like though not soggy like-- fresh). The fries are good (like thick curly fries after straightening under an iron though without that curly fry sweetness). I don't drink alcohol so I can't tell you about any of the drinks besides the water which is actually refreshing (tap/filter water hits different depending on the source ). The pricing is good for the Vegan options. Overall, I'm glad about the dinner, the people I meet, and the conversations I have. I don't know about those signs telling people to wait, in the front of the store, (especially as employees might be busy with a lot of patrons) cause there are a lot of reasons (especially now a days) to pay attention to signs (mainly for health reasons) before entering a business establishment. They had DJs often, a karaoke night, pool tables, ample unisex bathrooms (three!!!!!) arcade games that actually work, and family friendly during daylight. Food is excellent and oh so reasonably priced! If you're vegan and can't help but let everyone in the group know you're vegan (or you're the regular kind of vegan) ...there's a vast amount of options for you too that would make Morrissey shed a tear! The regulars are top notch. I fucking hate talking to people and even hate it more when people talk to me but I don't mind it here. We still see each other when we are picking up our orders outside and it's like a reunion :tear: As I write this, they are open Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays for pick up outside (you can pre-order online) and you can even pick up some great drinks that they state on their Instagram (margaritas are bomb!) Starting going here after the Covid-19 lock downs were lifted to watch the Dodgers and Lakers Championship games. The owner Blake, Tim, and all the Bar Tenders are "super chill." The cooks, bar backs & security... same thing "super chill." Blake has been in the bar tending business for decades so he definitely knows how to make his own bar business the chilliest it can be. Food is great, sports games friendly, and at night time on weekends they have a Dj for the Dance crowd. Side note: I'm a morning person so I always grab their Breakfast Potato Bowl dish with eggs and bacon. My girlfriend absolutely loves their Mushroom Pretzel bun burger. Don't even get me started here on Taco Tuesdays because their taco box with a pitcher of Margaritas is absolutely a great bargain. Last but not least they have a wide variety of vegan options for the non-meat lovers. All & all this place is a hidden gem in Long Beach. Not your average Long Beach dive bar. Placed in a prime location on 7th street, this spot has great vibes, and the best selection of vegan/vegetarian pub grub in town. I was surprised to see such an extensive menu, including nachos, tacos, burgers, taquitos, and even deep fried Oreos. The ambiance is casual, with sparse yet homey decor and lots of seating. Two pool tables. I did not realize it was Tuesday until the friendly bartender presented me the Taco Tuesday menu (I never know what day of the week it is). Two beers and 4 tacos came to just $14. Average beer selection-no ambers or dark beers on the day I visited. The Soyrizo Taco was excellent, packed with flavor and perfectly greasy soyrizo-the good, legit Mexican kind. The Mushroom Taco was slightly bland, but I loved all the fresh toppings and salsa. My boyfriend liked the Asada Tacos. Overall, The Good Bar was a pleasant surprise, and definitely stands out in a city full of mediocre bars and eateries. We will be back. read more

There's a new bar in Long Beach, and locals are slowly familiarizing themselves with this place. Located off the busy intersection of Redondo/7th Street, The Bull Bar invites a decent crowd. Personally, I go there for the pool tables which cost .50 a game, are well lit, and there's enough space to easily move around the two tables without interfering with the other table's game. It's a spacious bar with the potential to get really crowded. As soon as you enter there are booths, and as you walk in there is the bar, pool tables, and as you turn to your left, you have more seating space and a Shuffle Board table awaiting you. There is floor space for those designated nights for bands, Karaoke, and a DJ starting on Thursdays. Of the times I have been there a different bartender would await us. They don't exactly warm-up to me like bartenders I have previously met and dealt with, and the owner is pretty strict with his hours of operations. Come 1:30AM he called "Last call" and by 2AM he told me to stop playing pool and he'll give me my money back. While other bars slowly weed people out, this bar plucks you out. By 2AM the bartender told me and anyone else at the bar to "Chug your beer. No alcohol at the bar after 2AM." And thus, I chugged. I assume the bar owner just doesn't want to get in trouble with the locals, or lose is liquor license. Still, I want to punch the guy in the stomach and ask him to relax. No one was overtly drunk and stupid, and it seemed like those who were there had a great time. The jukebox is pretty extensive. One minute Lynard Skynard's "Free Bird" is on, and the next minute Sublime's "Date Rape", followed by Justin Timberlake's "Sexyback." 4 or 5 plasma televisions are available for your sporting pleasure. Wanna smoke? I didn't see a smoking patio, unless you just want to step outside onto 7th street. Parking is non-existent. If you ever been through the 7th Street/Redondo area you know that parking is based on luck, or just park residential and walk. Don't expect fancy drinks or mixes at this bar, it's strictly beer here. What? No Heineken in a bottle? So I had to take mine from the tap. Three sizes are offered. I don't know what they are exactly, but I can explain it as your basic beer glass (small), your jug (medium), or a pitcher (large). I didn't even finish my beer because' some guy who worked there tossed it without asking whether it was mine. I haven't tried their food, but according to their sign, Chicken Wings and Fries are served from Noon-2AM for about $6. And the website, which I assume is under construction, says two things: "Cold Beer. Great Burgers." Hopefully someone will have the chance to yelp their menu. Anyway, the place has the potential to be something big. But like it's website, its marketing is under construction. I'd go again, mainly because I'm a pool player who likes beer. read more

Sorry this is a definite dive bar. That restroom was hella sketchy as is the service. 2 of the people I was with got served immediately, the other 2 took quite a while. It appears their "Mascot" is The Most Interesting Man in the World. He is everywhere you turn. They have a jukebox, pool, a nice selection of beer on tap and good divey prices. A live band was starting as we were heading out. It's a big space that was completely empty when we got there (during the Kings winning game) but I'm sure it gets busy with loads of regulars.
