This all vegan cafe has such a large menu that there's something for everyone-- and hard to make a decision! They have a simple interior and a small patio outside by the parking lot too. They had breakfast and lunch/dinner food available across a large variety of cuisines. We tried a couple smoothies which were both delicious and refreshing! I got two tacos-- one vegan chicken and one potato. The chicken taco was good but a little dry. The potato and cheese taco was flavorful but a bit greasy and not my favorite. Omg! By far one of the best vegan meals I've had in 2024. I ordered the chilaquiles and the strawberry and chocolate crepe. The chilaquiles were scrumptious. Crunchy, saucy, flavorful, fresh and delicious. It had mushrooms and squash, avocado and sour cream. The crepe was so good as well. I paired it with a chai latte. 5 Stars since my previous review! Let's taco about the vegan chicharron tacos! I'm trading my go-to vegan mole enchiladas for them. So pleasantly surprised by the chicharron taco's kickass flavor! I've only doordashed this place occasionally due to distance and time. Our go-to dishes have been the mole burrito (sauce is on point!) and mole enchiladas. The mole burritos have an option as to which plant based protein to which I've gone with the burger. In it is chard, cabbage, and bell peppers in a spinach tortilla. Their menu is rich with various options including breakfast items, waffles, pizza, sandwiches, and smoothies. When I last dined in person in 2019, I found the pineapple ginger lemonade to be refreshing and tasty. Also, I remember our server mentioning the chef is from Oaxaca. Talented chef. I hope no one here takes offense as I confess - I REALLY like bacon. It's the one pork something I will eat. So it's something when I say - I AM SO INTO Grain Cafe's tempeh "bacon." How do they get it so savory and smokey?! I had it in their breakfast burrito, which was so flavorful and satisfying. It doesn't look that special, but when you bite into it - wow - good depth of flavors and textures. EXTRA STARS - They bring you a whole bottle of their delicious house hot sauce - it is so tasty but does smack you in the face with spicy (try a little bit first) - They have a tasty house "crema" made of tofu that they give you if you ask (good for us wimps that want to cut our hot sauce with it) - THE PEOPLE! Reminded me of a chive pancake if you've ever had one of those. The people who own this place were so sweet, they even showed me all of the dessert menu when I didn't know what to order and they helped me pick, and they also helped when I couldn't get the bottle of water open (which was kind of embarrassing but they were so kind and didn't make it weird at all which is random but also important) - The restaurant itself is wonderful and earthy - but not in an intimating way. It reminds me of a house from the 70s with clear natural lighting and flowers & plants. It makes me sad to see it empty - I know that there is a lot of stigma about vegan food - but TRUST me. I loved The Grain Cafe when I had it at the Culver City location a couple of years ago, and I was especially happy to discover another location closer to home. I decided to order in, and I did so through GrubHub. With that, I waited for my order to arrive... Now, given that The Grain Cafe has so many good reviews, I will say that my 3 stars are separate from the service I received from my GrubHub delivery. My GrubHub delivery showed up over 90 minutes later (when estimated time was 30-50 minutes) AND I did not receive one of my orders! I did not get my tres leches cake, which was a huge disappointment, as I'd had it back at the Culver City location and loved it. Dramatic as it sounds, it began my love affair for this vegan chain restaurant. GrubHub service was horrible, but again, I'll put that aside and focus on the quality of the food: The breakfast burrito was PHENOMENAL: warm, hearty, and wholesome. It's hard to believe that there's no meat involved at all, as it was that hefty. I was definitely full afterwards. The salsa offered on the side was SPICY, but so good-- it paired perfectly well with the otherwise simple-in-taste burrito. Unfortunately, the mint mocha latte was NOT good. Perhaps it was because I'd ordered it decaf, but the taste was really off, basically burnt. The lid of the cup was not stable, and it would loosen whenever I held the cup to drink, so I had to be careful not to spill hot content all over the place. Definitely a NO for me. Overall, I know that The Grain Cafe is a good place, but I think I just had an off day, not just from the GrubHub delivery. The burrito was good, but the latte was not...and I didn't get to have the tres leches cake. Perhaps I will return to actually dine in and maybe it'll make a difference, so I'm willing to give The Grain Cafe another chance! read more

yum! yum! yum! perhaps my new fav breakfast place! i had their LA location saved for the longest, but was in redondo for the weekend and when i saw there was one here, it sounded perfect for breakfast i can't even pick a favorite dish! the chilaquiles were some of the best i've had, even though it wasn't spicy but i put some of their bottled hot sauce and it made it. hot sauce was so good, got me picking up and reading the bottle like what's in this lol the waffle platter was very comforting, i don't remember the last time i had a breakfast that came with hash browns, "eggs", and sausage. the waffles weren't heavy and i felt like i could've ate all 4 pieces but we shared heh the fruit platter was also very fresh and sweet! not a fan of apples on a plate like that but regardless. sad part was that they were out of the coconut yogurt so we didn't get to try but it's fine. i also loved that the kitchen was blasting spanish music and it really made the ambiance more homey i'm just more excited to finally go to the LA location and try other things! read more

We come here often, but the food is never consistent. We usually order the breakfast burrito, sometimes it comes loaded, and other times it barely has anything in it. The side of potatoes is always undercooked and bland. We also order the carne asada tacos, and this time they were so salty it tasted like someone dumped an entire salt shaker on them. They serve a good avocado sauce, but if you want an extra side, it's a $2 charge, which feels excessive, especially considering how pricey the food already is. Part of the patty was really dried out, just a small corner but that made me wonder if it was frozen for a long time before being cooked. This location is very spacious and has plenty of seating. I came in with two other people on a Monday night and it was pretty slow. It seemed like they only had one person as a waiter and taking orders at the counter. That made the process very slow and the service was subpar because more tables filled up and there needed to be an extra person. The food however, was pretty good. We started with hummus and guacamole, both very tasty. For my meal I got the wet "chicken" burrito. I'm not a vegetarian at all and I found that this burrito was delicious, I didn't even mind that it wasn't real chicken. The Grain Cafe offers a huge selection of vegan food...so you are guaranteed to get to try different things whenever you stop by. I had a chance to try their vegan crepe, tofu scramble, vegan smoothie and juice and their vegan coconut cake and I thought in general, the food was good. I'm not a vegan and I didn't feel like the food was anything different from the normal food with at least some meat that I usually eat at all (this is a good thing!). Personally i love their juice and smoothie..as well as their cake. They felt fresh and refreshing..and they would be something i would try again my next time there. The tofu scramble and vegan crepe though..i felt were essentially the same thing (the crepe was pretty much stuffed with tofu scramble) and I just wished it wasn't as heavy, as oily or as bland what I had. It left me feeling slightly sluggisg because of a large portion as well. Perhaps though next time, I would opt for something lighter..and see if there's anything/dish with more spice in it. Overall, great, large vegan restaurant. The person who took the call for the order was nice and helpful, too. He recommended great juice/smoothie options and was fast to provide/ring the amount when I went in to pickup food in the restaurant during covid-19 stay at home order. Instead of side of potatoes I ordered side of pinto beans which could have been a tasty meal by themselves- they were smokey and creamy and cooked to perfection. My partner ordered the veggie wrap with a side of garlic aioli which took the wrap to the next level of tastiness. For a vegan meal we didn't feel like we missed out on anything by not having animal products. Lastly, you can order a freshly made juice with the 4 ingredients of your choosing; we chose spinach, kale, lemon and apple and it was a winning combination. Our bill came to 48 dollars which was a splurge but worth every cent considering the freshness and level of quality of food and service. They have nicely appointed wooden booths and a number of tables central to the space. They also have a nice waterfall feature on one of the walls and there is commonly Latin orientated music playing through the sound system. The staff here is very nice and very focused on the customers. So, you will be very well taken care of. I highly recommend the Cobb salad, wet burrito and definitely indulge with a slice of the strawberry almond cake. That cake was so moist, not overly sweet and it was a perfect finish to the meal. What a great spot for a meal at any time of the day. My wife and I went for lunch and we were surprised by all the options on the menu. We really wanted breakfast but all the egg options were tofu egg and we are not big on tofu. They may have other egg options but we didn't ask. Their menu has many options so I got a falafel wrap and my wife got a chicken torta. They have options for various diets and we were both happy with our selections. I love potatoes with everything so glad that it was a side option with many dishes. My wife got the side salad and enjoyed that as well. We also ordered an oatmeal to share and I thought it was great as a dessert, although they do have some amazing looking desserts. We had just gotten back from a vacation where we ate too much of everything so we were trying to take it easy. The best part of our experience was not just the food but the amazing service we experienced from our server Sabrina. She was basically running this place on her own and doing it with a smile. She was hostess when we walked in, bussed tables, took orders, set tables, served the food, checked in on us to make sure we were doing okay and that everything was to our liking. I wouldn't be surprised if she even prepared food in the kitchen because she was everywhere. The food came out quickly and she was on top of everything. It's a nice place to hangout (not too loud, never too crowded and there's outdoor and indoor seating). We ordered here most during the pandemic. The food never gets old and they have a vast menu! Here are some of the dishes we've tried: Chilaquiles - this is my go to meal! Delicious! Sometimes I'll ask for extra daiya cheese on top too. Club sandwich - yum! The aioli they put on this is amazing. The flavors blend together perfectly! I like it better than most club sandwiches I've tried. Breakfast burrito - this is my boyfriend's go to meal. I walk into a Grain Cafe and I know I'm going to have an awesome time. I occasionally come in to treat my mother for Beach Day (we live up in the valley, landlocked). The staff is always so friendly and helpful, and always very accommodating when we have a request. I usually switch it up when I come but today I ordered a Pollo Crepe, it was outstanding!! You can't come to LA and not have vegan food. Visited on a Monday afternoon with my sister. We were dining in and chose to sit inside at a booth. We were brought menus and water. The water tasted like filtered ocean water. We looked over the menu and asked our server, Fau, for suggestions. I decided to go with the veggie omelet and crispy potatoes as well as an apple, cucumber, spinach, and ginger juice. My sister ordered a wet burrito with half and half sauce as well as an orange, cucumber, ginger, and parsley juice. It wasn't busy and we got our juices about 5 minutes after ordering. We both enjoyed our juices. The ginger really shined through in my juice and my sister said the cucumber shined in hers. We were given a housemade hot sauce then the food came out and looked amazing. We got shared plates, split the food, and enjoyed every bite. The veggie omelet was actually a veggie scramble bc of the "egg" they use. Despite it not being an omelet, it was flavorful and the hot sauce paired well with it. The potatoes were not crispy but they were good. I mixed the hot sauce with the ketchup to dip my potatoes and it was a good pairing. The wet burrito was exactly what a wet burrito was supposed to be. Filled with plenty of veggies and flavors.
