The machaca breakfast burrito might be one of the worst breakfast burritos I have ever had. Both the quality and quantity were not good. The eggs were overcooked, the "machaca" was not real machaca and I have no idea what type of meat was even used and there was really nothing else inside of it. It was just a small burrito with eggs, barely any meat and some veggies. For $15?! What is the point when Rod's is a 1 minute walk down the street and you get a huge God's supreme breakfast burrito that is packed with all sorts of meats for the same price? Everything is always so good here and the lady up front is very kind and sweet. Huge menu selection and has some indoor/outdoor seating. Not sure if they have WiFi. Can get a little busy on weekend mornings but I've never waited more than 10-15 min for food. Haven't tried many of the drinks yet but the Rosarito is a go to and their bagels are good as well. This bowl definitely caught me by surprise I didn't expect tortilla slivers. The taste isn't horrible but just not what I expect for chileaquiles. The price for the product was not worth it . I have been to Sacks in the City several times. It is convenient and they offer a nice simple lunch menu that is generally well prepared and their smoothies creations are delicious. I usually order the chicken pesto sandwich or sammie as they call it. It is sorta an ungrilled wanna be panini. The sandwich was enjoyable and is chocked full of juicy chicken and flavor. Unfortunately, service can be spotty for this small sandwich shop. One time around 2pm, I was served my sandwich within a reasonable 5-6 minutes. Another time around 1pm, I had to wait almost 20 minutes before I got my sandwich. They also don't appear to be well stocked based on their consumption sales. They ran out of specific chips that I wanted and the remaining choices were pretty slim. They have limited both indoor and outdoor tables for dining. Sacks in the City is a nice addition to the Artesia corridor. Hopefully the office building and locals can consistently support this small sandwich shop to be successful in North Redondo. read more

4++ This is a small neighborhood sandwich shop that also does a lot of breakfast items located on a busy street in Redondo Beach. It's also located close to a lot of homes, which is the reason why we walked over and found this place. The menu itself is surprisingly large for a small place and a small operation. I was at my friend's house watching football the other day and we got hungry so we decided to walk around the neighborhood and check this place out while walking his dog as well. The vibe you get is an awesome neighborhood place where everybody knows everyone's name. I mean when we were there, the owner, Chris, seemed to refer all the other people by the first name and vice versa. I thought that was really cool. he was also super friendly and helpful when ordering and giving us our food. I ordered the Frenchy and the tortilla soup because it was getting a little chilly and I thought soup would be perfect. The sandwich was warm as well. I thought it was delicious. I love croissant sandwiches with a lot of savory and sweet ingredients inside including the pear. The tortilla soup was warm and good and hit the spot on a chilly day. My friend's girlfriend told me their breakfast items were really good here too. I definitely would love to come back to either try those are other sandwiches. The menu had a lot of options: bowls, wraps, sandwiches, smoothies, coffees, and juices all at GREAT PRICES. I ordered the Manhattan Toast (aka LOX bagel) for $11.95 and it was delicious! It came with a generous amount of smoked salmon. My boyfriend ordered the Chicken Club Sandwich for $8.95 and enjoyed it too. There's a couple of tables indoors and about three tables outdoors. Cool little spot on the corner of an office building. Wouldn't even know it was there if I didn't see it on Yelp. It's got kind of a small diner feel with a few places to sit inside. Wife and I stopped by on a weekday for lunch. We both wanted breakfast items, so I got a hash and she got a croissant sandwich. She really enjoyed her sandwich because it had brie and a jam and she really enjoyed the sweet and savory combo. The hash was okay. Kind of small and not really filling, but their prices are low so you probably shouldn't expect large portions. The green salsa that I think was for the hash was probably the best part and added great flavor. Their menu selection looks decent and their service is quick. Might stop by again if driving by and hungry, but there are so many food places on Artesia that I'd likely want to try other spots. Worth checking out if you're in the area. Enjoy! read more

It's small footprint is easily missed so keep your eyes open as you drive down Artesia past Phelan lane. They serve up some of the most affordable and tasty wraps in the south bay. We split a Turkey Club wrap with added Jalapenos and a Rosarito Wrap. Both the turkey and the chicken slices in the wraps were fresh and tasty. The Jalapenos in the Turkey club gave just enough kick to tzatziki to combine everything together for a delish wrap. With the Chicken wrap I loved the taste of the corn relish and how it worked with the cilantro lime to give the chicken an amazing taste. They also serve some great coffees. My husband ordered food ahead of time, forgetting to ask if I'd like anything too. Haha, I don't blame him, I rarely eat breakfast-y stuff so he assumed I didn't want anything. But this time I was hungry! Sacks has a big menu - lots of breakfast and lunch items, salads, wraps, smoothies, juices, etc. Nothing quite struck my fancy as I was looking for something to take on the go. I was going to skip buying anything but my husband suggested I get a smoothie (mostly so he could have some). Ding ding ding! I got the berry one and o-m-g that thing was capital D delicious. I could drink one of those every day. The board said it's almond milk, flax seed, strawberries, blueberries, and açai. Sooooooo goooood. Wow, what a find! This is a lovely family oriented cafe with indoor and outdoor seating that we found on Yelp after dropping our kids to Saturday German school in the area. I had the Manhattan (their version of Lox & Bagel - fresh and well put together!!) and my wife had the Soy delish. Haven't been to Sacks in the city in a while because my last experience wasn't that great. But I didn't write a review. This time I said I must. So there it is. At first I went to Coffee Bean across the street the line was too long so I changed my mind and decided to go to Sacks and give it another try. Not sure if their ownership changed, but these are the few things I noticed and was bothered by, music was loud and music selection wasn't in par with coffee shop at all. I love music from all around the world but every type of music is appropriate for an appropriate ambiance. They definitely need a much better play list. My americano trusted burned. I was greeted by the front counter young lady. She was super nice and very helpful. I was looking for a bagel breakfast. She was very nice and pointed out what they had. I wanted to order something that didn't have onions and they were accommodating to make it without the onions I had the Manhattan and I wanted it to go, not only that but I wanted to try their tortilla soup. She was accommodating and they made me a little sample so I could try it. It is a vegan tortilla soup or at least was that day it was delicious so I did order a bowl to go she let me know that if I order that next time I can have it for two dollars more with my breakfast or sandwich, but that would be a cup. There is inside and there is seating outside there are dog biscuits so if you want to bring your dog and sit outside. This is a small, quaint place. First timers trying Sacks in the City. Found it just by walking around the neighborhood exploring places and it was a happy surprise. Mexi-Sandie Burrito was excellent and very freshly made. The tapatillo and salsa verde was a really good touch as well. The Yogurt bowl was really good and the gettin skinny with it smoothie was superb. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Lady at the cashier with the colorful tats (forgot to ask her name) was really nice and filled up the dog bowl with water and pointed out dog treats for good boys and girls. I am super excited to have this little café closer to my home on Artesia Boulevard. I was a fan of their Sacks on the Beach location first and really like their selection of healthy items vs. fun pastries. So far I have tried a few breakfast bowls and their version of avocado toast and I am totally satisfied by the meals and also excited to try new variations of how to pull ingredients together for new flavor combinations. One thing I am a little bit obsessed with is their bulletproof coffee. With the addition of a few special ingredients listed on the menu, it extends the impact of the caffeine and keeps you full longer. Hip breakfast deli cafe is probably the best description for this little shop. They have cute decoration that brightens your mood and quaint plates that tickles your fancy. It took a while for our food to arrive, but when they did, they taste great and I could tell that they're fresh off the griddle. My son said his hash bowl was a bit bland, but I enjoyed the flavor of my tiny breakfast burritos. I could taste the freshness and the quality of the ingredients. They have a wide range of smoothies, juices, and coffee. I am not a coffee drinker, but my son declared the smoothie to be one of his favorites. There isn't a lot of room for dining either indoors or outdoors, so you better hope there isn't a crowd when you get there. This is a very nice little cafe/coffee shop located on Artesia Blvd right next to the North Redondo green belt so it's perfect either before or after a nice walk and if your pup is with you, they have water & dog biscuits :) The food looks really good, and everyone eating was smiling which is always a good sign, but we were there for coffee. I had the Purple Eye (that's a cup of coffee w/ 3 espresso shots added) and my son had a Bullet Proof Coffee. Both came out quick and tasted great! But you know how sometimes it's the little things? Well I want to tell you about the paper cups with their textured outside layer that serves to keep the contents hot while not burning your hand plus it keeps the cup from sliding out of your hands! Every coffee shop should use these! We were there on a Sunday afternoon about an hour before closing and the young lady working the counter was super friendly and helpful. Frenchie had strawberry jam instead of cranberry. Apples tasted funky. Goat cheese tasted like some cheap sliced version and turkey was of Oscar Meyer quality. I've been coming here weekly for about a year and a half and I usually just get the same thing. Went through a phase where I couldn't stop eating the beach toast. The boiled egg and corn relish on top are superb toppings and the lime is a nice touch as well. Nowadays though I'm on a protein kick so I get the pro bowl which has a good amount of quinoa, egg, and soy chorizo. I'm always full after one of these, and it's the perfect post work out meal. The coffee is great, especially the lavender lattes. Chris, the owner, goes through painstaking effort to get the best beans on the market for his espresso and coffee. He's here everyday chatting with regulars and helping out his kitchen. He has done a great job of crafting a creative menu with a multitude of options at super reasonable prices. You can get a big ol breakfast here for less than $10 which is usually pretty hard to find in LA. Sacks in the City is consistently great and I can't imagine Artesia without it! Not a huge restaurant but good amount of seats but don't expect to fit a large party of 10 or even 5. But they have seating inside and out. They have an extensive menu with breakfast and lunch wraps, bowls, and salads. Along with juices and coffees. And I loved that there is a savory and sweet option too. Shared - pollo gusto wrap: jalapeño cheddar wrap with fluffy scrambled eggs, chicken, jack, avocado and pico salsa. Belgian waffle: with fresh fruit (banana, blueberry, strawberry) and whipped cream Washed it down with a flat white. Everyone was friendly. Great breakfast food. Noticed doggie biscuits for the 4 legged guests. And I noticed the owner doing a lot being involved while I dined in from taking orders, bringing plates out and even cleaning. Awesome to see. I reviewed this place 6 years ago, and gave It 5 stars. A local resident used to own Sacks in the City and sold it around two years ago. Since then the new owners have tried to pretty much keep the same menu. However, the previous owner had outstanding coffee. Now the coffee is burnt and terrible. After ordering the coffee and explaining it was burnt, the current owner(?) said, "if I bring you another cup it will be the same. Really!!!! Also I ordered what was their "special" French toast. When it came it was a soggy piece of bread on a plate with a little fruit. When I explained it wasn't cooked, I got the same reply....if we make another one it will be the same. Wow! Also noticed downgrade in quality of the ingredients. I'm sorry this place was sold. It used to be a favorite local breakfast/lunch place. read more
