This is one of my favorite breakfast spots in Denton. I've been there several times and am always pleased with the quality of my meals. The menu has a good variety to tempt my taste buds. Today I decided to try the "Chicken Apple Sausage Scramble," which was on the "Smarter Choices" part of the menu. I wasn't sure I was going to like "chicken apple sausage," but it was delicious ... yet they served way more than I could eat! I quite enjoyed fresh fruit that came with it. Our server, Lisa, was so upbeat and helpful that I couldn't help but compliment her. We eat breakfast out at least once a week, and The Egg & I is always a first choice for me. Nothing special! Okay food and service. We go there frequently since it's close. I'm handicapped and move via walker or wheelchair. This is the classic type of American breakfast food you will find at any Cracker Barrel or Denny's with better quality. I always try the eggs Benedict at any breakfast place and I would say they were what I expected, tasty but not amazing. If you're looking for a cool, trendy breakfast place this isn't it. Me and my family have been to The Egg & I many times in a short amount of time. At least once a week for about 4-5 months. When we go we spend about $60 maybe even more! We love the service, We love the food. Never any wait time, and the wait for food is never too long. Order is always right, no complaints. A couple weeks ago my family and I go in, get sat down, and our waiter comes and greets us. He brings us our drinks and asks if we're ready. We give him our order, he messes it all up. After he brings out our food we tell him he got it wrong, he goes and gets the owner and our ticket. He realizes he is wrong and takes it all back, the OWNER asks us what we would like "Two Texas Skillets, with a croissant instead of an english muffin" she asked if we wanted peppers or onions since I originally ordered mine with out. Both of us said yes, no peppers or onions. About 5 mins later the OWNER brings out our plates. Right as she set it down, I saw red peppers. I told her I asked for no peppers or onions. In a rude voice she quickly says to me "You said no GREEN peppers, those are red." I have never had such a let down from a good restaurant. Go somewhere better read more

We were traveling through town and were looking for somewhere to eat breakfast. I almost didn't go here because of some of the 1 star reviews. I'm really glad I went anyway. The experience I had was completely different then what some of the negative reviewers said. We were seated right away and there were many people there dining also. The waitress was very nice and her service was on point. I thought the food was very good with nice sized portions. I had Parisian eggs Benedict and it was great. The restaurant was very clean and the restroom was spotless. As for the decor...I don't know what some reviewers are expecting but it looked fine to me... I mean you're eating breakfast in a strip mall, not dining at some 5 star bistro in the south of France for god sake. Coming from a North Carolinian, I had the pleasure of visiting the Dallas area this past weekend and stopped by The Egg & I during my trip. It was a great decision! The "Egg-ceptional" omelette with potatoes, and an English muffin was my meal of choice. It was a phenomenal meal to start off my day, and it did not take more than 15 minutes to be delivered to our table (this was during peak Saturday morning hours). The coffee is amazing and the food was just as good. My son and I had breakfast there today and we would definitely go back. The wait was short and the service was good. It just opened so the wait staff still has a few minor kinks to work out, like learning the extensive menu, but it wasn't a big deal. Loved it! read more

My experience with this place wasn't good at all. When we got there on a saturday around 8:20 am they had maybe 10 tables. Waitstaff was running around trying to get stuff done but it didn't look like they were doing anything. After a wait to be seated it took another while for a waitstaff to come and ask if we've been taking care of. We ordered and food came faster then I thought. I ordered Crab cakes egg benedict. Eggs were over cooked and food wasn't hot at all. Didn't taste great. I had high hopes for this place and I was disappointed. There are much much better places in Denton. My family took me here today for my birthday, and I loved it! I had the corned beef hash which was fabulous! Hubby tried the reuben and a greek salad; he scarfed it up. My son couldn't quite finish his classic club, but the ranch potatoes were gone in a flash. The prices seem very fair for the amount of food you get. stopped in Sunday around noon, busy, busy, busy, but only 8 minute wait! Our waiter was Brady and he was terrific, answered our questions, read back the order so no mistakes and even customized one by switching Hollandaise sauce and Sausage gravy. Also told us that all menu items are available in 1/2 or child portions for Seniors, Bonus! Service was prompt, food delicious and we were not rushed even though it was SRO. read more

Was there a few weeks ago for lunch, the place had about 5 other tables filled at the most. We sat up front, by the cash register. No one came by, servers come and go. We put our menu down and kept waiting but no one bothered. There was a guy in red shirt who worked there, and he took up the booth next to ours to do some paperwork. He didn't help either. We had a large family gathering of 25 people at this Egg and I location. Della and her team were so gracious and accommodating. Despite the large group, the service moved quickly and efficiently. I ate the ham, egg and cheese croissant and it was delicious. The other guest has similarly positive responses to their food. Excellent place for breakfast. A large variety of fresh quality food. Service was excellent with a staff that stays engaged with the customers. The Manager came by the table to make sure everything was in order, she was very pleasant. The place was clean, bright, and well maintained including the restrooms. I just found my new breakfast spot. By the way they are also open for lunch, I have not tried it as of yet - but will in the near future. I'm sure it will be terrific. read more

We have been there 3 times and not going back. Every trip has resulted in longer wait time and decline in quality of food and service. The last visit was a 10 minute wait to be seated, ok I can live with that due to the popularity on a Sunday morning, but to wait 10 more minutes to order and 45 more minutes to get our so-so food, not acceptable. decided to try something new and go to Egg and I. to start out as we walked up to the restaurant a homeless who was clearly under the influence loiter near the entrance, making me feel slightly uncomfortable and to be honest wanted to leave before i even entered the place. next, me and my friends walk in and all look at each other with a questionable look, we all agreed we got a huge wiff of poopy diapers...seriously. not even trying to roast this place but this is literally our first impression. moving on to the meal, the food was mediocre, my friends coffee was full of "water and coffee grounds". pretty much a lower end ihop. BUT to focus on the positives our waitress was very friendly and attentive. the one major key point in this review is that the odor of the restaurant was overwhelming as soon as you walk through the door. it kinda curved our appetite and was a bad first impression.
